ABAP APIs for DDIC?

Hi all,
Is there any ABAP API for DDIC? I wanted to manipulate DDIC structures and types from code, for example, change names, create a new DDIC object, add a new field to an existed table.
I guess we have that but I didn't find any documents on this topic. Please help, Thanks a lot.

ABAP API for KM ??

Hi guys,
I have seen a couple threads in this forum regarding the ABAP API for KM but nothing concrete as yet. Also alot of the links seem to be non existent now ;-(
If I go onto our SAP system and go to SE24 I can see a good couple classed related to KM by typing something like CL_KMC*.....
But what is the recommended approach to take? In my scenario I have an ABAP Webdynpro and I need to both UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD files to KM......
Should I generate a web service proxy in ABAP that consumes the standard KM web services? Do these web services even allow me to upload and download file to and from the KM area? I believe there is a KM Proxy layer in ABAP ?
Has anyone got some more information on this???

I think I will just do the work in Java Webdynpro and use the KM API. It is a pity because I would much rather do it in ABAP Webdynpro, it just seems like nobody has really done it or documented it well...

To answer your question specifically
Using ABAP api you cannot call MDM workflows as of mdm 5.5 there are no functions specific to calling MDM workflows in ABAP.If you want to implement workflows on ABAP side you need to go for SAP ECC workflows which is a different topic than MDM>
To call MDM workflows over the Java stack ie WAS (SAP portal),You have 2 ways
- UWL
- Guided Procedures.
- UWL is a way of calling MDM workflows on EP.Wherein the workflow design will be done in MDM and it will only be called in portal using appropiate connections and configurations.

ABAP API For SP06?

Hi
We are trying to integrate MDM (5.5 SP06 Patch 3) with an ECC 6.0 server. We downloaded the MDM TECHNOLOGY 5.5.5.7.00 CAR file from service market place. It was installed successfully in the ECC 6.0 server. But we are unable to find the relevant ABAP component for our MDM version in the "ABAP implementation for MDM version support" of the mdmapic transaction. The components in that table are the ones for SP04 and SP05 but not SP06.
Has anyone successfully used ABAP APIs in their SP06 environment? If yes, then what was the CAR file that was used?

In the begininng we had downloaded from the same path you have mentioned.
After raising OSS note SAP responded by saying that - the installations should be downloaded from the path:

SAP MDM 5.5 ->
Entry by Component ->
ABAP API for NW 7.0
After doing that we are able to see the SP06 components.
But now when i try the sample code in the ABAP API How to guide, for creating a repository through API, i'm getting an error -
"Server return code 0X84020003: DCNI_MSG_ErrInitDB"
I verified the ip (same for server host and dbms host), port (20005), dbms username/password. They all seem to be fine.
Has anyone faced this issue before?

ABAP APIs for MDM Workflow Modification

Hello All
I require a help from all of you. Currently I have a particular business case where I need to configure the MDM workflow & do changes & modifications in it via ABAP APIs. Currently we are having Java APIs in plcae.
Can you please tell me whether we have some ABAP APIS for this MDM Workflows, if yes what are their EXact names & functionalitites.
Also can we download them from Service Marketplace.
Please reply ASAP.

ABAP API for XML Validate(by schema)

Hi
Encountering this problem, find out ABAP XSLT Processor API to transform a xml file, need to validate it against predefined schema, but have not find out proper ABAP API to take this validate task. Could anybody once meet such kind of problem? will be much appreciated gettting your reply!

Mdm abap api retrieve method does not work properly

Lets say i have
in a qualified flat lookup several qualifiers.
i try to get the table using the following code:
loop at wa_contract_data-CONT_REMINDER into ls_qual_link.
                  wa_keys_reminder = ls_qual_link-QUALIFIED_link_ID.
                  append wa_keys_reminder to lt_keys_reminder.
            CALL METHOD g_mdm_api->mo_core_service->retrieve_simple
                  EXPORTING
                  iv_object_type_code = 'TBL_REM'
                  it_keys = lt_keys_reminder
                  IMPORTING
                  et_ddic_structure = lt_remainder_data.
endloop.
finally lt_remainder_data contains only the non qualifier, but not the maintained data of the qualifiers.
what confuses me is that some fields are even not transfered at all.
does anyone know how to get what i would expect: the actual data of all other fields?

I have used ABAP API's to successfully retrieve the data from the MDM into a DDIC structure in ECC side using the program Retrive Simple.

ABAP API to store DATE value in MDM 5.5

Hello All,
Currently I am working on MDM 5.5 and need to have some suggestions on ABAP API Function module to store date values in MDM.
We have interface from where we take the user input which updates the field value back in the MDM.
On the basis of similar scenario we have "DATE" field on the interface which will update the date and time in MDM, also we are making use of ABAP API for development.
The problem is that data type mismatch is happening between MDM and ABAP API,please let me know which ABAP API Function module should we use which simply accepts the DATE and TIME for every single record.
Source code provided will be much more appreciable.

Hi Swapnil.
In the same link provided by Sudhanshu, can you navigate to the node "Retrieving Complex Types".
It has sample codes and MDM interfaces for TimeStamp, Time Stamp, User Stamp, Literal Date, Literal Time etc.
As suggested, you can also try to use the type MDM_CDT_DATE_TIME.
See the sample code provided in the link as below:
Type: MDM Literal date:
    CLEAR lv_date.
    CONVERT TIME STAMP ls_result_ddic_ex-fieldliteraldate-content TIME ZONE sy-zonlo INTO DATE lv_date.
    WRITE: AT (10) lv_date, '|'.
Type: MDM Literal time:
    CLEAR lv_time.
    CONVERT TIME STAMP ls_result_ddic_ex-fieldliteraltime-content TIME ZONE sy-zonlo INTO TIME lv_time.

Use KM ABAP API without XI/PI

Hello KMC Gurus,
I try to use the <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/db356ceb-0701-0010-ff8f-af07e78588a0">ABAP API for Knowledge Management and Collaboration</a> from a WebAS ABAP 7.00 (NW2004s). But I'm facing the problem that we don't have XI or now called PI installed. As I've read in OSS Note "883948 - NW 7.0(2004s): Inst.Add.Java Usage Types/Software Units" the Usage Type PI can't be installed afterwards. Is there a possibility to use the KM ABAP API also without XI/PI in place?

Hi Gregor,
The articel you mentioned above is a preview to the next major release which is not yet available. Unfortunately in NW2004s there is no ABAP API available. But beginning with NW04s, SPS13 there will be at least WebServices available for KM functionailty. You can use them to generate your own Web Service Proxy in ABAP to connect to KM.

MDM ABAP API ISSUE ( server is getting down )

Hi Folks,
I am trying to retrieve matching results using MDM ABAP API.
I am spiting source and target records into lot of blocks dynamically
in program. I am getting output 2 to 3 times if i can run program
sequential after that server is getting down (before running program
i am completely going out and rerunning).After server bring's up
running couple of times and server getting down.
Please help me how can i solve this issue.

MDM ABAP API - Language information not valid for repository

Dear all,
We're programming an interface in SAP R/3 to MDM catalog through 'MDM ABAP API's'. Automatically, it creates an RFC connection to MMD, but we're getting the following connection errorwhen executing the API:
E MDM_ABAP_API 078 Language information ENG US USA not valid for MDM repository XXXYYYZZZ*.
*where XXXYYYZZZ is the repository name.
W'e've established the connection in R/3 through transaction MDMAPIC and we've created the same user in R/3 and MDM Console.
This is the code written on the program where we are defining the language (ENG), country (US) and region (USA).
*maintain logon language information
ls_repository_language-language = 'ENG'.
ls_repository_language-country = 'US'.
**no region information needed here
ls_repository_language-region = 'USA'.
How can I see the repository language definition?
Which are the correct codes to be used for language 'English', Country 'United States' and Region 'USA'? And for other countries, like spanish language, country Spain and Region ¿spain?
In fact, we copied this code from website:

Maybe the problem is that any RFC configuration is missing, and it has to be done in transaction SM59?

The problem is now solved.
The correct languague information codes for Language Spanish, Country Spain and Region, are as follows:
Language: 'spa'
Country: 'ES'
Region: '___'
It is important to respect the CAPS, otherwise it doesn't work.

Read data from MDM For Lookup and Flat table using MDM ABAP API

I have requriment to read data from MDM from FLAT and Lookup table using MDM ABAP API. My design is like this ,
I have one ITEMS (Main table in MDM) and inside that i have one Lookup flat table ITEM_TYPE , my requriment is to read Item number and its related Item type.

Retrieve data from MDM using MDM ABAP API.
Step- 1. Create structure in SAP with the same name as that of MDM field code for MDM Main table.
Step-2. Create another structure in SAP having all lookup fields of MDM , fieldname in ECC must be same as that of MDM field
code.
Step-3.Create structure in SAP for individual lookup field(Single Field only)   with the same name as MDM Field code.
Step-4.

API for access of guided procedure from ABAP / WebDyn: change/read status

Hallo together,
I'm very new to guided procedure and have some questions about possible interaction between WebDynpro ABAP and Portal guided procedures (UWL ?)
is it possible to access a guided procedure or their attributes from WebDynpro ABAP? What are the relevant key attributes (ID's) to do so?
Is is possible to change the status of a guided procedures f.e. from "completed" to "ready" from outside, let say WebDynpro ABAP? for the purpose of a monitor for mgrs.
- possible szenario is a manager says: "no, not well done" go back to start and do it again !
- another szenario: guided procedure is "running" and should be set to "completed"
Any hint will be helpfull

There is a good and a bad news regarding APIs for GP and ABAP Web Dynpro and GP:
The good news is that you can find [here|http://help.sap.com/javadocs/nwce/current/gp/index.html] the APIs for GP.
The bad news is that the cooperation capabilities between GP and ABAP Web Dynpro are restricted in a certain way. One can use a ABAP Web Dynpro in GP as callable object, but GP is only capable to transport parameter values from GP to the UI but not vice versa. In many cases one needs a solution where the ABAP Web Dynpro UI accepts user inputs and forwards them to the GP context. This is not supported.
