Please someone put me out of this confusion.
will be rewarded if helpfull.

Hi,
In most areas Web Dynpro Java and ABAP are alike, they are based on the same programming model.
In WDA you have the advantage of the integration into the complete development infrastructure, with transport system etc.
As to functionality, there are some UI elements in WDA that are not yet there in WDJ e.g. FormattedTextView.
Web Dynpro ABAP, on the other hand, does not support mobile devices.
For more information on WDA, Refer these threads..

  • WebDynpro with ABAP or JAVA?

    Hi all,
I am a veteran in ABAP. I wish to learn web dynpro. I never worked on JAVA. Can anybody advice me which programming language i should use to learn WebDynpro development. Also let me know which companies have webdynpro projects in India?
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi Buddy,
Welcome to intresting world of Web Dynpro.
As veteran ABAPer you should go for WebDynproABAP .
             Now why ?
    Point 1:
In my view WebDynpro ABAP and Wd Java are not same.
Basically WebDynpro ABAP and Java are two different webDynpro provided by NetWeaver Stack.
Basic conceptual base of WD ABAP and WD Java is same.I mean to say concepts like Context binding , node , elements , Layout both support are same.
But when you provide background functionality to your Web Screen then Java or ABAP come in to picture.Just take case , you want do some thing on click of some button then
    1) in case of java may you will call some ejb or you will may write some java code on click.
    2) but in case of WD ABAP you have to do same thing with ABAP classes . You will call some call or some method of some system defined class.
    Ulimately point I want make
    1) WD ABAP and WD java 's Base is same but you code in completely different way.
    2) Purpose for which SAP came with two different WDynpro is different. Java can be used for developing quite sophistcated Web services.
    Point 2:
another help for you .Just go thr' following thread
How much of oops ABAP is required for ABAP Webdynpro .
    Point 3:
You can start with tutorials and all

  • WebDynpro for ABAP Vs Java

    Hi all,
I have recently  started learning Web Dynpro for ABAP.
I have worked in WebDynpro for Java.
1)I wanted to understand pros and cons of WebDynpro for   ABAP and Java.
2)What are the functionality that are available in Web Dynpro for Java but not in Web Dynpro for ABAP.
3)What should be preferred when considering performance issues - WD for ABAP of Java?
Any Web Log or Link in this context will be helpful.
    Thanks a lot,

    Hi,
OOPs ABAP uses Classes and Interfaces which uses Methods and events.
If you have Java skills it is advantage for you.
There are Local classes as well as Global Classes.
Local classes we can work in SE38 straight away.
But mostly it is better to use the Global classes.
Global Classes or Interfaces are to be created in SE24.
SAP already given some predefined classes and Interfaces.
This OOPS concepts very useful for writing BADI's also.
So first create a class in SE 24.
Define attributes, Methods for that class.
    Define parameters for that Method.
You can define event handlers also to handle the messages.
After creation in each method write the code.
Methods are similar to ABAP PERFORM -FORM statements.
After the creation of CLass and methods come to SE38 and create the program.
In the program create a object type ref to that class and with the help of that Object call the methods of that Class and display the data.
see the links below, Understand them and start developing.

  • Any difference between webdynpro for java and webdynpro for abap ?

    Hi all:
I would like to build one small system in EP.

I would like to ask any major difference between webdynpro for abap and webdynpro for java ?
Is fpm supported in webdynpro for abap ?

  • Webdynpro Java and Webdynpro ABAP

    hi all,
Im working in webdynpro java. Im confused about WD java and WD ABAP. which one we should select for what? And now a days people are telling that SAP is coming up all business packages in WD ABAP. Is it true? Which one is better either WD Java or ABAP?
    Thanks,
    J.Smitha.

    Smitha,
It's tough question to answer. Which one to choose either Web Dynpro java or Web Dynpro ABAP , it depends on which technology you are comfortable. In relation to the business packages SAP already provided allmost all of them in java and in the future all the Business packages also available in ABAP. It's all how you want to develop the application. In sap portal world some applciation which we can develop with ABAP Web Dynpro and some applications with JAVA Web Webdynpro as SAP Web AS available as dual stack.
If someone already has a strong ABAP background and has WD for ABAP available they should probably use that. If they are a J2EE developer they should probably use WD for Java but it is likely they will also then need some ABAP support for the backend systems.
I think more customers may be asking for WD for Java projects simply because it has been around longer and is more widely available to customers where as some cutomers prefer to develop their application using ABAP Web Dynpro because of SAP propritary. But ultimately it's again all our interest and customer.
    Thanks
    Krishna

  • ESS/MSS in ECC 6.0 are Abap or Java WebDynpro ?

    Hi ,
We are on ECC5.0 and have ESS/MSS on Java WebDynpro . For ECC6.0 are ESS/MSS in ECC 6.0 are Abap or Java WebDynpro compoment ?
Any watch out when updrading from ECC5.0 to  ECC6.0  ?
    Thank you .

in ECC 6.0, ESS/MSS are WebDynpro Java calling ABAP backend function modules. However, be careful, there is a switch that enables SOME ESS services as ABAP WebDynpro (Especially in the Travel management area). Unless you use that switch all services are WebDynpro Java.
when upgrading from ECC5.0 to ECC 6.0 you need to test again all ESS/MSS services. In ECC5.0, services are written as Portal iViews, so customizations you made to ESS in ECC5.0 may be lost.
let me know if you still have questions.

  • For ESS which one is better ? (Webdynpro for Java or Webdynpro for ABAP)

    Hello ,
For developing Employee Self Service(ESS) which one is preffered Is webdynpro for java and webdynpro for ABAP ? Why ?
What are the differences ?? Please give me clearly.
    Thanks
    Risha

    Hello Olivier  ,
Thank you  for gvg quick reply.
For dessert which one is preferred : apple pie or chocolate pudding ?   - I  am not able to decide
Actually I have requirement for developing ESS in Portal. I am new to ESS and heard presently using WDA for ESS.
I did't get reasons why using WDA. basically I am from WD for Java.
    If possible give me differences.
    Thanks

  • Possibilities Web Dynpro for ABAP versus JAVA

    Hello,
I would like to know whether WebDynpro for ABAP and Java have the same options, abilities and possibilities. e'm I able to produce the same results with WebDynpro for ABAP as Java. I would like to standardize on just one of the two and be sure that it will to limit me later.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Maurice,
If you make have to make a choice you have to consider the followings:
    - Which release do you have? Java version is available since 6.30/6.40, the ABAP only as of 7.00.
    - Performance. If you have your WD4ABAP and backend (eg ERP) in the same system you gain a lot of performance
    - Other small difference, that Java version has a much nicer graphical editor, which I miss from the ABAP version
These are, which came to my mind.
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • ESS Business Package for ERP 6.0 is a ABAP or JAVA Web Dynpro

    Hi,
We are trying to implement ERP 6.0 and ESS with the Portal.
Is the ESS business package a ABAP or JAVA Web Dynpro????
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
ESS BP is a portal content (runs only on portal runtime) which can only be deployed and run on SAP J2EE server (So it is java based).
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/f6/263359f8c14ef98384ae7a2becd156/frameset.htm
From EHP2 for ECC 6.0, you have an option choose ABAP WebDynpro for Travel related services. However, the portal content (iViews) is still on SAP J2EE server.
    Thanks

  • ABAP or JAVA dynpro

I am new to Dynpro concept. I saw two Dynpro can be built by two ways ABAP and JAVA. I wud like to know the difference + Want to know in short (Don't provide links) what is Dynpro concept and How Abaper should adopt it.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi
    WebDynpro for java.
Web Dynpro is a client-independent programming model of the SAP NetWeaver technology platform for developing user interfaces for professional business applications. It is based on the model view controller paradim which ensures that the business logic is separated from the presentation logic. This architecture is visible in the Web Dynpro perspective of the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS).
Web Dynpro helps you with the development of Web applications by:
Ensuring platform-independence with the meta model approach
Minimizing the implementation effort through declarative programming
Supporting a structured design process by applying the model view controller paradigm
Providing reuse and better maintainability by using components
Providing graphical support with tools in the Web Dynpro perspective
Providing the SAP NetWeaver Java Development Infrastructure (NWDI) which supports team work with different services such as source code versioning and the Central Build Service.
Web Dynpro for ABAP (WD4A, WDA) is the SAP standard UI technology for developing Web applications in the ABAP environment. It consists of a runtime environment and a graphical development environment with special Web Dynpro tools that are integrated in the ABAP Workbench (SE80).
Web Dynpro offers the following advantages for application developers:
The use of declarative and graphical tools significantly reduces the implementation effort
Web Dynpro supports a structured design process
Strict separation between layout and business data
Reuse and better maintainability by using components
The layout and navigation is easily changed using the Web Dynpro tools
Stateful applications are supported – that is, if the page is changed and the required data remains intact so that you can access it at any time throughout the entire application context.
Note that stateless applications are not possible.
Automatic data transport using data binding
       Automatic input check
Automatic operation of the Web Dynpro application using the keyboard
      User interface accessibility is supported
Full integration in the reliable ABAP development environment
The concept of Web Dynpro ABAP is identical with Web Dynpro Java and offers more or less the same functions.
    Thanks
    Lohi.

  • MDM with separated ABAP and Java Instance

We installed SAP ERP system with SRM server and Portal as Java instance.
We use Oracle and have 2 oracle schemas/instances: ABAP and Java.
After mounting of MDM server and DBMS configuraiton (to Java instance) we have the following oracle objects:
    Oracle Schema A2I_XCAT_DBS
2 oracle users: A2I_XCAT_DBS (owner of the schema) and MDMADMIN
2 tablespaces A2I_A2I_XCAT_DBS.DBF and A2I_A2I_XCAT_DBS_IX.DBF within the main dbs directory E:\oracle\<sid>\102\database
The used tablespace was set to PSAPTEMP
    Questions:
    1) How can the DBMS configuration will be removed, because the oralce path  E:\oracle\<sid>\102\database was wrong
Unfortunately we would like to avoid merge MDM and Portal data in one and the same tablespace PSAPTEMP
    2) Where can we find the oracle configuration for MDM with Java Schema, but using their own tablespace?

Are you basically trying to put a new User Interface (UI) on top of MDM because you do not want to use the standard MDM UI?  If so, then yes you could write a custom WebDynpro and use the MDM API.  We evaluated WebDynpro as an option, but instead we built a new Adobe Flex based UI that sits on top of the MDM Catalog and it totally awesome!  There is a sample on our website (www.simplifying-it.net), but we are making some changes to the look/feel... however, the sample demo on the website should give you an idea.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Testing of Java-Based Webdynpro application in NWDS

    hi
    Hi
I would like to test Java-Based webdynpro application in
    NWDS
I am able to start and stop recording.
But when press Start Replay Button.
    i am getting this error in the lower text area where messages area;
<b>ERROR: Invalid Xml document received from the Xml Client. WindowId attribute is missing</b>
    pls replay ASAP
    Thanks
    Ravi Shankar

    Hi
Ok now i get it. Well i guess i need to come out of mental block that WebDynpro for ABAP is not there :)..
Well in that case it should work if you just record your test case.. What version of NDS are you using. It has worked for me.
Create some inputfield and then deploy and test your application .. See if it runs.
Then you right click on the application and say Record. It should run you through the screen. Once you are through stop the recording.
The XML file can be viewed in the NWDS with the test data that you entered.
    regards
    Ravi

  • Password inconsistencies on PI between ABAP and JAVA

    Hi,
I have having a problem with the passwords between the ABAP and Java Stack. I have read SAP Note 999962 and reset the password of service user PILDUSER with Tx SU01 and made sure the user Id is not locked.
I then attempted to call the Exchange Profile with http://<PI Host>:<port>/dir/start/index.jsp but the link returns the error:
    Internal Error
Internal error; contact your system administrator
Unable to read configuration data (ExchangeProfile/aii.properties)
SAP have aske me to use this liknk too:
    http://<PIhost>:<Port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcxiexprofui/XIProfileApp
and this returns with a  500   Internal Server Error
    Regards

    Hi ViJaYaNt JhA ,
I did not know about the 8 character limit on the password SAP note 999962 doe not list this.
I can change the password in ABAP to 8 characters, but I am still not able to connect to the Exchange profile to change the password.
    http://<PI Host>:<port>/dir/start/index.jsp or
    http://<PIhost>:<Port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcxiexprofui/XIProfileApp
    Is there another workaround?

    Thanks

    Hi,
Tha ABAP stack consists of the Integration Server which in turn contains your Integration Engine and Business Process Engine.
The J2EE stack contains the Adapter Engine and your IR and ID run on the J2EE engine.
Ever wondered how and where the XI pipeline gets executed? It happens in the ABAP stack.
All messsages picked by the Adapter Framework running on the J2EE engine are passed to the Integration Engine, which does the routing. The mapping program again gets executed on the Java stack and the rest of the pipeline servies are executed again on the ABAP stack and so  on.
Take a look at the XI overview doc to understand this better,

  • Short dump Error during VM container communication between ABAP and JAVA.

    Hello All,
Can anybody please help with resolving the following issue:
Short dump is displayed, when I try to insert CRM product (type: material) in the document (opportunity). This CRM product was created in CRM directly.
When I try to insert ECC migrated material, everything works fine.
Here is the details of dump:
    Short text
Error during VM container communication between ABAP and JAVA
    Information on where terminated
Termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPLPRC_INT" - in "GET_PRICING_PROCEDURE_INFO".
The main program was "SAPMHTTP ". In the source code you have the termination point in line 100 of the (Include) program "LPRC_INTF35".
    Thank you!

    hi Willie,
this is the dump, and i have used the t-code sm52 . the VMC is not active.
