About Parameter Form

suppose i had two databases. A&B
application use the database A.
i want to use database B for reports calling from application which is using database A.
I want to use seprate database for reports.
Thank's in advance..............

The Run_Report built-in automatically passes the connect information to Reports.
You can use the web.show_document built-in to call the reports servlet directly and pass the userid string to connect to the other database.
Be aware that the url will contain the plain password. If you want to use web.show_document for running reports in a more secure way you have to read this article:

  • About html parameter form

    Hi Guys,
    if i put the code as below in the before form value
    <html>
    <body bgcolor="#29716F">
    <form method=post action="http://localhost/reports/rwservlet?">
    <input name="hidden_run_parameters"
    type=hidden value="report=account_statement.rdf&userid=scott/tiger@ora10&desformat=pdf&destype=Cache">
    <center>
    <p><table border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0>
    <tr>
    <td><input type=submit></td>
    <td width=15>
    <td><input type=reset></td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    <p><hr><p>
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    the html parameter form works file ,it can take the user parameters into report output.
    but if i put this code in after form value
    it doesn't work, can not pass user parameters into output.
    Actually, i just want to move submit and reset buttons down, let them are displayed after customized parameter form.
    anybody has idea about this? Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    To display the buttons "Submit" and "Reset" at the bottom of the Parameter Form, just put the lines
    <input type=submit>
    <input type=reset>
    just before the tag </form>
    Example of "After Form Value" :
    <table><tr>
    <td><input type=submit></td>
    <td width=15>
    <td><input type=reset></td>
    </tr></table>
    </center>
    </body>
    </form>
    </html>

  • XML Publisher report in EBS - Parameter Form Problem

    Hi,
    XML Publisher is a very powerful tool for report developing.
    In EBS, we have some efficient issue for showing the parameter form when submit a concurrent program.
    If the report is D2K Report or PL/SQL script, when submit a request, it almost shows the parameter form immediately after entering the name of the concurrent program.
    But if the report output is XML and generate report using XML Publisher, it takes about 1 minutes to show the parameter form.
    Is there any setting should be tuning in our environment or some patches should be applied??
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Zhxiang.

    Hi All,
    Is there any suggestion, for the issue that t takes long time to show the parameter form?
    Thanks in advance,

    Your code seems to be implementing metalink note 139546.1 - Using Reports parameter forms with RUN_REPORT_OBJECT on the web.
    For what I can see, the P_ACTION parameter should end in ?...
    i.e.
    P_ACTION=http://<hostname.domain:port>/reports/rwservlet?'
    set_report_object_property (
    repid,
    report_other,
    'paramform=yes P_USER_CONNECT='
    || vc_connect
    || ' P_SERVERNAME='
    || v_reportserv
    || ' P_ACTION='
    || v_report_url
    || '/reports/rwservlet?'
    );If this does not fix your problem, then to troubleshoot further you would have to post the code in your Before Parameter Form trigger of your report.
    Hope this helps,
    UPDATE:
    If the above does not fix your problem, my guess is that report name is not being generated in the hidden runtime values build by the code in the Before Parameter Form trigger.
    i.e.
    http://localhost:8889/reports/rwservlet?report=&destype=cache&desformat=PDF
    The above code will throw error REP-52005: The specified key report does not exist in key map file.

  • Values in one field based on another field in the paper parameter form.....

    Hi All,
    I have two fields in the parameter form. One named 'employee number' and the other named 'document number'. Now, there are multiple document numbers for every employee. I'd like the document numbers to be displayed automatically as an LOV or would like to give the user some help when the employee number is entered manually. Please let me know if this is possible in Oracle reports. I read somewhere that I'll have to call the values from the form. if that is the case. then please let me know how to go about it....
    Regards,
    Shri

    Hi Hari,
    Considering both Market Segment and Application fields are dropdown,
    1) define an event for the first dropdown in the get_p method ie., Market Segment field
    2) In the get_v method of the second dropdown get the value of hte 1st dropdown and filter your field accordingly
    Note: The reason for defining an event in (1) is just to do a server submit.. its actually act as a dummy event if you dont want to handle your logic here
    Hope this was helpful.

  • Oracle Reports 10.1.2.3 output shows question marks, parameter form shows correct Arabic

    Hi
    Following is our environment
    Oracle Application Server     10.1.2.3.0
    Microsoft Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 2
    Oracle Database 11.2.0.2.0
    NLS_LANG     AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256
    When client runs the report on browser (IE), the parameter form appears fine with Arabic characters.
    Inserting the parameters in Arabic also look fine and characters display in Arabic but when report is generated, the output shows the inserted parameters as ????
    On server, regional settings are ALL Arabic. Also the registry has NLS_LANG setting of AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256.
    Report output is same for both html and pdf formats. For PDF subetting, uifont.ali file has been modified but the issue does not seem to be PDF related since the html format reports also shows ???
    It is a 3 tier setup hence there is no question of having NLS_LANG registry settings for client PCs that are running Windows OS with Arabic regional settings that match the server.
    Interestingly, the same report when run from a different application server having same architecture runs fine. The other application server has exact same version of OAS. Database supports Arabic and is configured as such.I tried comparing the different configuration files on both servers but apparently I cannot find the place where I should change something for the reports to show correct Arabic.
    SELECT * FROM NLS_PARAMETERS
    WHERE parameter IN ('NLS_CHARACTERSET','NLS_LANGUAGE');
    NLS_LANGUAGE
    AMERICAN
    NLS_CHARACTERSET
    AR8MSWIN1256
    I am writing this after doing quite some research but seems like I am unable to find a solution to this.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thank you Paul for your reply.
    I think you misunderstood me. I understand that it is all volunteer work and I never said I was looking for "quick" or "sure" response. I did not even use the words IMMEDIATE or URGENT in my post. I found it strange because I personally believe that there are many volunteers providing great support to others and yet my post somehow went unnoticed. In my personal opinion, however, if you do not wish to reply then you should just ignore rather than being rude. No one can force anyone to do the good work that people are doing here at oracle forums and they are all doing this out of choice. Let me also assure you that me and people like myself really appreciate their efforts.
    Having said that, I wish you had taken time to read about my issue. There is infact a registry setting that specifies the NLS_LANG and it is already set under both Infrastructure and Middle Tier in the registry. I mentioned it earlier. The value is AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256 and I believe this is correct for Arabic characters.
    What is confusing for me is the fact that if browser was not capable of showing Arabic characters then the static Arabic words in the reports layout (field name for instance) would also show as garbage or question marks. They appear to be fine. Since we are just passing some parameters in Arabic language and not saving anything in the database, the DB characterset does not come into play for now. Although the DB characterset is also set to store Arabic data. We are displaying the parameters that we are passing through the parameter form in the output of the report and this is where we see question marks (????).
    Finally, if it was a browser issue or a DB characterset issue, then in my limited knowledge, I believe that the report that we are running using the other Application Server that is pointing to the same database should also show the same behaviour. That is not the case as it displays the same report perfectly. Client machine is the same in both cases using Windows 7 and IE as browser.
    http://appserver1/reports/rwservlet?admin/myreport           (connecting to db1)    works fine
    http://appserver2/reports/rwservlet?admin/myreport          (connecting to db1)     show question marks
    Above URLs are examples. The point I am trying to make here is that the issue has to be with the new application server and it cannot be registry settings as I have double checked the entry and it exists in all Oracle Homes ie Infrastructure and Middle Tier. So maybe it is some configuration file setting that I am missing here.
    Any help will be appreciated.

  • Parameter form not displaying in 9i reports. Works fine in 6i!!

    Parameter form does not show up with any options mentioned in the cgicmd.dat.
    It works in 6i & surprisingly in 9i reports it doesn't.
    In 6i reports destype=cache shows the report output on screen but in 9i it doesn't, the report just sits in the cache dir of reports on the middle tier.
    Was Oracle in a hurry to release such incomplete versions???as it shows 9 is exactly opposite to 6 in apperance so are the versions!!! & too much java is harmful to the system performance.
    If there's a patch please...

    my url looks like this
    http://abc:8888/reports/rwservlet?report=myreport.jsp&userid=a/b@c&server=myserver&paramform=yes
    or paramform=html with all other arguments same
    i have chosen system parameters destype,desname,desformat along with one user parameter
    i tried putting the same arguments as it has to put in the cgicmd.dat key map & also typed the above url from the client.
    If i give initial values to the parameters then for example i say destype as mail & give other parameters appropriate values , i get a status html form which says report ran successfully.The user gets the mail
    If i do not give initial values to every parameter except destype i still get the status message as report ran successfully, but the mail would have not gone.
    Is it that the reports will run only when deployed on 9iAS or it runs otherwise too on a system which has 9iDS.
    I had posted the same question earlier but i didn't quite understand about report escapes...the person who replied meant to say
    Mahesh

  • How to Change the display format of Parameter form in HTML

    I have created a parameter form to allow user to choose the parameter values before printing the report. The parameter which will display in the web-browser has its own predefined format. How am i going to change this format? eg. changing the Background color, table background color, put in some pictures, set the alignment of the text and fields....
    Now I am able to change the header and footer. I can put in the company logo in the header by changing the report escape - Before form value and the footer in the report escape - after form value. How about the body which all the boilet text and fields will be display here? I need to change the alignment, the table background color and the text style and format also... where should i change this?
    Thanks

    Reports only provides limited formatting for the parameter form. In your case, you seem to need to take over greater control of the parameter form and you're halfway there.
    You've noted that you can control the header & footer values, what you need to do is extend those escapes to render the complete parameter form and remove everything from the actual reports parameter form. ie: Remove the labels/parameter form fields and render these directly in the HTML in the before parameter HTML escape. This allows you to insert any HTML you want - you probably want to start with the Reports generated HTML and move it into Frontpage to edit to your required format.
    What you are doing in this case is still using Reports url/submit mechanism and parameter form validation but bypassing Reports rendering of the parameter form.

  • Parameter Form in Oracle Report!!

    Dear Oracle Users' Group:
    I have problem with "Parameter Form" in Oracle Report.
    The Report that I created has the SQL:
    "SELECT A.FIELD1, A.FIELD2
    FROM MYDATABASE.MYTABLE A
    WHERE
    A.FIELD1 = :P_1";
    When the report is run, it asks for the parameter
    and generates the report based on the runtime
    parameter. Works perfect on Oracle8i database's
    Report front end.
    The PROPERTY PALETTE for the FIELD (Field that
    takes the runtime parameter) is:
    ====================
    General Information
    Name: PF_P_1
    Comments:
    Parameter Form Field
    Source: P_1
    Parameter
    Datatype: Character
    Width: 40
    Initial Value:
    Validation Trigger:
    List of Values:
    (For the list of values, I have put the SQL:
    "SELECT DISTINCT A.FIELD1 from
    MYDATABASE.MYTABLE A", Also I had
    tried with list of fixed values like A, B, C)
    Web Setting
    Additional Attributes (HTML):
    ================
    But the report does NOT work when called from the Web.
    (This is only because of the problem with this Parameter
    Form in my report. If I get rid of the parameter form by
    changing the last line of my SQL to: "A.FIELD1 = 'Chicago'",
    it works fine from the Web).
    When accessed the report from the Web, the error I get
    is:
    Oracle Reports Server CGI - Report Job has terminated with this error.
    Reports Server Replies:
    REP-0788: Warning: The value of restricted LOV parameter P_1 is not among the selectable values.
    I do not know what is the error with this simplest Parameter Form based Report!!
    In the Property Palette (above) of the Field, there was a field named "Additional Attributes (HTML)"
    under "Web Setting" heading.
    Do I need to write something there!!
    Please help!!
    thanks.

  • Help with Parameter Form

    Hello, I have a somewhat complicated Report and I am hoping that I can create the Parameter Form in Reports (I would rather not use Forms because I don't know it as well)
    Here's my problem:
    Right now I have 2 fields that I need help with.
    The first one is called "Report Name" and I have it coded to a bind variable that will search for a series of "work units" such as 02% or 03%
    This works as coded, the problem comes with the other "Work Unit" field. What I have right now is a LOV that queries for work units that start in either 02 or 03. This variable will narrow down the report findings to the specific work unit selected. What I want is for this list to be dependant on what the user choses for report name.
    For example if the user choses ReportName1 the report query finds work units with 02%, but the "work unit" field still displays the list of work units 02% and 03% and the user must know to only chose the certain work units for the specific "Report Name" selected.
    If there is a way to somehow have the "Work Unit" field be dependant on the "Report Name" field please give me soem ideas of how to do it.

    Thats what I was worried about.
    Well I have been trying to learn forms for some time now but I can't quite get the hang of it yet.
    I don't really have anyone who knows it here, so I'm kind of learning on my own.
    Thanks for the response.

  • Want to Create View as per Condition Fires After Parameter Form.

    Hi ..
    I want to create a report from a view,and that view would create after parameter form of that
    report.
    Example..
    I want to select max(sal) of each Dept.where employee hired between 1-jan-2007 and 31-jul-2007'
    I want when i Passes dates in Parameter FOrm
    a view i.e select empno,deptno,sal, from emp created.
    that means that view contains only data about that certain period
    SO in Report Query i can write
    select deptno,max(sal) from vw_employee
    group by deptno.
    This is just an example....my real problem is very hard and only can be done by doing create a view as per given dates in Report Parameter Form.
    Waiting for Reply
    Regards
    Danish Hayder

    Wrong ideea.
    You should have the parameters in the report's query:
    select empno,deptno,sal, from emp where hired between :p_start_date and :p_end_date
    Why do you want to create a view in the report, seeing that it's best to use parameters.
    Moreover, think that the oracle user running the report would have to have the priviledges to create views, which may not be good security policy.
    Still, if you insist on creating the view when running the report, then you'd better create the view from a stored procedure, that would receive as parameter the SQL select for creating the view.
    So, you'd have the stored procedure:
    proc_view(p_select in varchar2, p_view_name in varchar2) is
    begin
    execute immediate 'create or replace view '||p)view_name||' as '||p_select;
    end;
    You then would compose the select in the afterpform trigger and call the proc_view procedure.
    Note that I did not allow proc_view to execute immediate any SQL one would pass, for that would be really dangerous. What if one would pass to the procedure executing dynamic SQL the following: 'drop table my_table cascade constraints'?

  • Few common questions about Mobile Forms

    Hello, everyone!
    I have a few questions about mobile forms:
    Can a form be integrated with a portal, which is build NOT on Adobe CQ\AEM technology?
    I've created a form and loaded it to the server repository via Form Manager. Now I can access it in my browser like this:
    http://testlcserver:8080/lc/content/xfaforms/profiles/hrform.html?contentRoot=repository%3 A%2F%2F%2FApplications%2FTest%2F1.0&template=UberForm.xdp&dataRef=
    And the question is: what is the right way to share forms to users on a production environment (without integration in a portal pages on so on, let it be just a link to a form which users have to fill in)?  I mean, should it be the same link, or it is only for developers need and to share forms to users some other way must be used?

    For integrating on custom portal, you would need to integrate with form submit proxy for handling of submission as mentioned @ http://helpx.adobe.com/livecycle/help/mobile-forms/mobile-forms-service-proxy.html.
    As far as url of form is concerned, it’s really up you. You can choose to hide the request parameters as couple of other customers are doing. You can find more information about hiding form template and content root from request parameter @ http://blogs.adobe.com/foxes/hide-parameters-from-mobile-form-url/

  • Without Showing Parameter Form !!!!!!!

    To who may concern,,,,
    I have designed an oracle form and a button to print the oracle report. Is there possible to avoid showing the parameter form and the button directly print the report.
    A piece of source code is appreciated.
    Thank's in advance
    Best regards

    pass a parameter to report
    PARAMFORM=NO
    this will stop the parameter form from showing.
    To have the report directly printed use
    DESFORMAT=PRINTER.
    Check the online help for information about how to pass parameters from forms to reports.

  • Passing Parameters into Parameter Forms

    I am having a bit of difficulty trying to get a parameter form to display and the report to execute properly with an additional parameter defined in the url.
    Here is the applicable line in cgicmd.dat file...
    key: report=test3.rdf server=xxxx userid=xxxx/xxxx@xxxx destype=cache desformat=htmlcss P_group_no=%1 %P
    I then try to open this webpage...
    http://server/cgi-bin/rwcgi60.exe?key+10
    With the %P setting on the Parameter Form page is displayed as it should and the appropriate form parameter is populated with a 10. However when I go execute the form it displays the following message.
    Oracle Reports Server CGI - Error occurred while parsing the Reports Server command line.
    If I remove the %P parameter and pass in the same argument list then the report display properly. Additionally if I try to run the report with the %P, but without the P_group_no=%1, letting that be defined in the parameter form it also works fine.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    How about using paramform=yes in you url and just giving a default value to the parameter you want in the report definition?
