Absolute navigation using post parameters

Hi All
I am navigating from WD4A iview to WD4J iview through absolute navigation and passing some parameters.
I am expecting that these parameters size might be large. Is there is any restriction on the size of the parameters that i can pass in these method.Can i use postparameters to  overcome this restriction on size. If i use postparameters is there any restrictions on that.
Can someone please post some helpful info or code examples to work with post parameters (Retrieving the parameters in the receiving application). Is other any other work around apart from these options.
Thanks,
Karthik.

  • How to open PDF file generated by some ashx handler using POST parameters in Internet Explorer for W

    I need to print content of pdf file by JavaScript.
    To do this used HTML like this:
    <OBJECT id = "Pdf" data = 'http://someurl.com/getpdf.ashx' name="Pdf2" WIDTH="300" HEIGHT="300"></OBJECT>
    <a onclick="document.Pdf.PrintWithDialog() ;">Print file</a>
    But to get pdf file I must POST few parameters to handler http://someurl.com/getpdf.ashx. How I can do it?

    Hi Hi Sven,
    Could you please tell me the type of report you were trying execute? Is it ERP or BW? And ALV or non-ALV?
    We are supporting PDF report output type only for BW reports and for ERP non-AVL reports. For other types PDF format is not supported.
    If you configure PDF for other report types then you will get report output in PDF file in SharePoint server, but you will face above error message while opening the file.

  • Invoke ADF taskflow with parameters using POST

    Hi,
    Can someone give an example or point me to an example describing invoking adf taskflow with parameters?
    The requirement is to have the parameters passed using POST method and not passing the parameters in the url.
    Jdev: 11.1.1.4.0
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    a use case for the requirement would have been good to have as yet I can't tell if I am helping you with something useful (hope so) or stupid (for which there would be a better approach to use instead if only we knew the use case).
    Anyway, here's a document describing what you asked for

  • Problem with Absolute Navigation (External Window) and Light Framework Page

    Hi All,
    We are using Light Framework page for the portal devolopment. We have an application including two webdynpro iviews where absolute navigation is used to traverse from first iview to second iview (When user clicks a button on first iview). We are showing the second iview in external window (SHOW_EXTERNAL). When ever i clicks the button to traverse to second iview, i am getting an exception.
    When we are showing it in same window (SHOW_INPLACE), it is working fine. But the iview is appeared in half of the page with scrollbars. It is working fine with default framework page (with both options SHOW_INPLACE and SHOW_EXTERNAL) and dispalyed in original size as mentioned in iview properties.
    Could you please suggest us whether there is any work around for this.
    Thanks,
    Sudheer

    Hi Kathiresan
    I couldn't see the address bar of the window (In which second iview is getting displayed). But i can observe no parameters that i passed from first iview is visible in the view source of the second iview (When SHOW_EXTERNAL is used in absolute navigation). I could see all the parameters in the view source (when SHOW_INPLACE is used for absolute navigation). But i am using the same url for both the options (for SHOW_INPLACE and SHOW_EXTERNAL).
    I doubt about the url being passed when SHOW_EXTERNAL option is used. But when we checked in debug, The correct url is being triggered (Atleast from first iview). Is there any way that could display the second window with address bar. What is making difference  between SHOW_INPLACE and SHOW_EXTERNAL with absolute navigation and light framework page.
    Could someone please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Sudheer.

  • Absolute Navigation fails in production

    Hi,
    Wbedynpro Navigation using absolute navigation fucntion module in abap webdynpro is not working in production. But working fine in Q. Any specific setting / authorization required for this navigation feature.
    Please advice.

    Hi,
    I would agree with Manas - post in the portal forum for a faster and more comprehensive response.
    However, to save me from answering your post there - have you checked the permissions of the iView/page/role that you are navigating to - it is likely that the user you are using in production does not have permissions because the permissions setting of the role/page/iView were not transported into the production portal. If they have the same permissions setting, check that the role mapping has been completed in the prod portal - does the user have the same portal roles in Prod as QA? Either of these missing could mean no permissions for the user to see the navigation target. This is the most common cause of the error you are experiencing.
    Hope this helps,
    Chris

  • Absolute Navigation between WD4J and WD4A applications

    All,
    I have a WD4J and a WD4A application that communicate with each other via absolute navigation and URL parameter.  I am finding that in some cases after calling the WD4J from my WD4A (via call method lr_port_manager->navigate_absolute), that the WD4A seems to remain "alive" such that when the WD4J again calls the WD4A it resumes to the view from which it left rather than calling the window startup plug to obtain the URL parameter.
    This happens consistently for some users, but not others even though the same exact user roles are assigned and the same exact data is used.  Furthermore, I do not make use of any Suspend/Resume or Exit plugs w/in the Window.
    I appreciate any thoughts/help,
    Chad

    Hi All,
    I solved it by adding the encoded parameter string
    &_paramsXmlStr_=<Params><Row BANK_CTRY="US" MAX_ROW="10"></Row></Params>
    to iView URL in the WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute. Find the code below.
    WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute(
    "ROLES://portal_content/myFolder/myiViews/myVCiView?&_paramsXmlStr_=<Params><Row BANK_CTRY="US" MAX_ROW="10"></Row></Params>",
    WDPortalNavigationMode.SHOW_INPLACE,
    (String) null,
    (String) null,
    WDPortalNavigationHistoryMode.NO_DUPLICATIONS,
    (String) null,
    (String) null,
    I did not pass the parameters as Business parameters(WebDynpro will chage these Business parameters as DynamicParameter).
    Thanks

  • JSTL: c:redirect using Post

    I am trying to find some documentation as to how I can redirect to a different jsp page using post method. What I am trying to acheieve is hide the parameters in the URL for the destination page. This is very critical.
    Regards.
    Priyesh

    Ok, understood.
    What you are specifying here is pretty standard stuff. Do some processing and then display success or failure.
    Is there any reason not to use a jsp:forward instead of a c:redirect?
    Given a choice, jsp:forward is always preferred, as it doesn't involve a round trip back to the client, and most of the time you are navigating to a relative page on the server (jsp:forward doesn't work for links in different servers)
    Will all the processing take place before onLoad is called ? Please correct me if I wrong. All JSP processing occurs before the page is even dispatched back to the client.
    Of course most of the time you just want to generate the page and send it back to the client.
    The only point of doing it this way including the javascript onload event to submit a form is to hide the parameters on the form as you were requesting.
    Hope this helps.

    I am working on a HTTP to file scenario where POST method is hirring the XI server with authentication parameters.
    CAD application is trying to hot our XI server using POST Method and the application does not have ability to send XML payload to XI server directly.

  • Open URL, use POST method in new window

    From a Java program, how do we open a https connection, basically a secured site, in a new window and pass some parameters to the link, using POST method?

    Hi
    Is JavaProgram a Applet or Servlet?
    Opening a new window directly from server,probably not possible? From your question
    what I understand is, A html page is displayed
    and when u click on a link opens a new window.
    The parameters to the link should be posted using POST method, again
    it is not possible this can be done only by appending
    "?name1=value1&name2=value2..."to the link

  • Encoding problem in call-back to hook URL (post parameters)

    Hello all,
    I'm encountering a character encoding problem while retrieving the content of the shopping basket from one of our provider.
    After the POST request is made by the provider to our system using the hook url, when debbuging I can see that some special characters are represented with the sign '#' (after the call the ITS_IMPORT_CONTEXT).
    In our case using the parameter http_content_charset with various values, including UTF-8, did not change the result.
    Inspecting the HTTP traffic has highlighted the following: the encoding received from the provider is related to UTF-8, but while we are expecting the hexadecimal values, we are receiving the "Unicode code points", which are not recognized by our SAP system. For more details look at the UTF-8 encoding table found here and compare the values under column "Unicode code point" with the one under column "UTF-8 (hex.)".
    As an example, for the character 'é', we are receiving the value "%E9" (the code point) instead of receiving the the hexa value : "%C3%A9".
    Do you have any idee if this can be corrected on our side or if the provider must addapt the way it's sending the POST parameters?
    Many thanks in advance for you help.
    Best regards,
    Jerome.

    Hi Jason,
    Indeed I had contacted the provider and informed them about the encoding problem and the fact that passing the parameter http_content_charset had no effect on the sent back encoding.
    They have taken into account my request and have changed the encoding used during the request to the HOOK_URL.
    Thanks to all of your for your help.
    Regards,
    Jerome.

  • Using named parameters with an sql UPDATE statement

    I am trying to write a simple? application on my Windows 7 PC using HTML, Javascript and Sqlite.  I have created a database with a 3 row table and pre-populated it with data.  I have written an HTML data entry form for modifying the data and am able to open the database and populate the form.  I am having trouble with my UPDATE function.  The current version of the function will saves the entry in the last row of the HTML table into the first two rows of the Sqlite data table -- but I'm so worn out on this that I can't tell if it is accidental or the clue I need to fix it.
    This is the full contents of the function . . .
         updateData = new air.SQLStatement();
         updateData.sqlConnection = conn;
         updateData.text = "UPDATE tablename SET Gsts = "Gsts, Gwid = :Gwid, GTitle = :GTitle WHERE GId = ":GId;
              var x = document.getElementsById("formname");
              for (var i = 1, row, row = x.rows[i]; i++) {
                   updateData.parameters[":GId"] = 1;
                   for (var j = 0, col; col=row.cells[j]; j++) {
                        switch(j) {
                             case 0: updateData.parameters[":GTitle"] = col.firstChild.value; break;
                             case 1: updateData.parameters[":Gsts"] = col.firstChild.value; break;
                             case 2: updateData.parameters[":Gwid"] = col.firstChild.value; break;
    Note: When I inspect the contents of the col.firstChild.value cases, they show the proper data as entered in the form -- it just isn't being updated into the proper rows of the Sqlite table.
    Am I using the named parameters correctly? I couldn't find much information on the proper use of parameters in an UPDATE statement.

    Thank you for the notes.  Yes, the misplaced quotes were typos.  I'm handtyping a truncated version of the function so I don't put too much info in the post. And yes, i = 1 'cuz the first rows of the table are titles.  So the current frustration is that I seem to be assigning all the right data to the right parameters but nothing is saving to the database.
    I declare updateData as a variable at the top of the script file
    Then I start a function for updating the data which establishes the sql connection as shown above.
    The correctly typed.text statement is:
            updateData.text = "UPDATE tablename SET Gsts=:Gsts, Gwid=:Gwid, GTitle=:GTitle WHERE GId=:GId";
    (The data I'm saving is entered in text boxes inside table cells.) And the current version of the loop is:
            myTable = document.getElementById("GaugeSts");
            myRows= myTable.rows;
              for(i=1, i<myRows.length, i++) {
                   updateData.parameters[":GId"]=i;
                   for(j=0; j<myRows(i).cells.length, j++) {
                        switch(y) {
                             case 0: updateData.parameters[":GTitle"]=myrows[i].cells[y].firstChild.value; break;
                             case 1: updateData.parameters[":Gsts"]=myrows[i].cells[y].firstChild.value; break;
                             case 2: updateData.parameters[":Gwid"]=myrows[i].cells[y].firstChild.value; break;
                             updateData.execute;
    The whole thing runs without error and when I include the statements to check what's in myrows[i].cells[y].firstChild.value, I'm seeing that the correct data is being picked up for assignment to the parameters and the update. I haven't been able to double check that the contents of the parameters are actually taking the data 'cuz I don't know how to extract the data from the parameters. ( The only reference  I've found so far has said that it is not possible. I'm still researching that one.) I've also tried moving the position of the updateData execution statement to several different locations in the loop andstill nothing updates.
    I am using a combination of air.Introspector.Console.log to check the results of code and I'm using Firefox's SQlite manager to handle the database.  The database is currently sitting on the Desktop to facilitate testing and I have successfully updated/changed data in this table through the SQLite Manager so I don't think I'm having permission errors and, see below, I have another function successfully saving data to another table.
    I currently have another function that uses ? for the parametersin the .text of a INSERT/REPLACE statement and that one works fine.  But, only one line of data is being saved so there is no loop involved.  I tried changing the UPDATE statement in this function to the INSERT/REPLACE just to make something save back to the database but I can't make that one work either.I've a (And, I've tried so many things now, I don't even remember what actually saved something --albeit incorrectly --to the database in one of my previous iterations with the for loops.)
    I'm currently poring through Sqlite and Javascript tomes to see if I can find what's missing but if anything else jumps out at you with the corrected code, I'd appreciate some ideas.

  • How to use HTML parameters in Java applet

    Hello
    In perl I have created a form with things like a selectiuon box called currency and text fields called product for example. Then when I click submit the perl program can pick up the currency and product parameters.
    I have read about applet param eg <param name="param1" value="Apple"> is this the same thing? Or is it different?
    Can I use HTML parameters or do I need to use applet param? I am confused.
    If applet param is what I need, then how do I change the param values say by editing text in a text field?

    You will need to use Java Native Interface JNI. Ther are many posts on the subject, please search, and this is the documentation:

    Thanks Marc.
    Let me rephrase the scenario.
    I have an external application which is capable of sending information only in XML through HTTP requests. It does not send SOAP messages. I guess in this case, we would need to use the HTTP binding using POST method. Much like the sample at http://blogs.oracle.com/reynolds/2005/09/invoking_bpel_from_an_html_for.html which uses the GET method.
    In this sample reynolds is using the GET method. I have been trying to get the POST method to work.
