Access 2000 boolean data type

I am in the process of migrating an Access 2000 database to Oracle 9i. Where OMWB is converting queries to views it is replacing tests for "False" to "False_". I was therefore expecting to see a function called "False_" in omwb_emulation but none exists. Leaving the statement as is will create the view but will cause it to be invalid.
Does anyone know the preferred workaround please.
Thanks
Kevin

True and False do not seem to be handled in the parser (I checked against the sqlserver view parser which the msaccess query parser is forked from).
as the poster suggested functions true_ and false_ can be created
SQL> create or replace function false_ return number as BEGIN return 0; end;
2 /
Function created.
SQL> select * from dual where 0= false_;
D
X
SQL> select false_ from dual;
FALSE_
0
SQL> create or replace function true_ return number as BEGIN return 1; end;
2 /
Function created.
SQL> select true_ from dual;
TRUE_
1
SQL> select * from dual where 1=true_;
D
X
public synonyms can be made so these functions are available to all users.
create public synonym true_ for totierne.true_;Synonym created.
This was tested with Oracle XE 10.2.0.1

    Use lower case letters for your variable names (name, pwd). The code works then.
    package com.bluenile.bean;
    import java.io.*;
    public class Bean1 implements Serializable
    private String name="Uname";
    private String pwd="Pword";
    public String getName()
    return name;
    public String getPwd()
    return pwd;

    this.name = name;
    void setPwd(String pwd)
    this.pwd = pwd;

  • Check box with Boolean data type is not behaving properly

    Hi,
    I create a sample application with one entity driven view object with two attributes. One is of String data type [Value will be Y/N] and another (transient) attribute with Boolean data type. I planned to bind this boolean data type attribute to UI. I overridded the view row impl class and included setting of boolean attribute inside the setter of String attribute. Also in the getter of boolean attribute, added code to check the string attribute and return true/false based on that. Everything is working fine in application module tester. But when i test the same in view controller project in a page, it is not working. Always Check box component is not checked eventhough when i explicitly check it.
    [NOTE: I have given the control hint of Boolean attribute as check_box. Also i don't want selected/unselected entries in the page def file. That's why followed this approach]
    Have i missed out anything? Why this behaviour.
    Thanks in advance.
    Raguraman

    what is the value that is going in when u check it.. did u debug it.. is the viewRowimps setter and getter getting called.. and is it having the right value set and got.. and ur sure that ur using selectBooleanCheckBox..
    ur binding the checkbox to the transient value right??

  • How to access the Custom Data type variable given in Expression edit control To and From LabVIEW

    Hello, I would like to know how to access the custom data type variable given in the Espression Edit Control from LabVIEW and vice-versa
    Say, the FileGlobals.Reference_Handle (Custom Data Type Variable) contains the
    VISA I/O session (Which in turn contains VISA_DeviceName: String, Session: Number),
    Channel1: Number and
    Channel2: Number
    I am expecting the user to give FileGlobals.Reference_Handle as the input at the ExpressionEdit Control in the edit screen of the VI Call.
    I would like to know how to get the values of this custom data type to LabVIEW?
    Say, if I have the Cluster in LabVIEW like VISA I/O session (Deive Name and Session Number), Channel1 and Channel2
    how do i need to set this cluster to the Custom Data type variable in TestStand?
    Thanks and Regards
    Prakash

    Hi,
    TestStand to LabVIEW: i didnt understand what you r trying to achieve. But if you are using references, Use Property nodes and Invoke nodes to achieve what you want in LabVIEW.
     LabVIEW to TestStand: check the image below: You need to click the button next to 'container'. I have used a cluster output in the VI.
    Hope this helps

  • BOOLEAN  data type in oracle is it there?

    is there any data type in oracle which stores BOOLEAN data?

    >
    There are inevitably problems with three-valued logic. To be consistent with the 3VL world of SQL one would expect a 3 value logical type (not strictly a "boolean" type at all). The standard chose not to do that and opted for just TRUE and FALSE with NULL as a sort of substitute for the third value. That in itself creates some logical conundrums but it's probably impossible to come up with any system that makes sense of SQL's 3VL. Probably that's why most DBMS vendors leave it out.
    >
    No problem. Just define it as NOT NULL and you will have traditional 2VL Boolean algebra.

  • Problems dealing with Boolean data types(SQL).

    Greetings.
    Below is an sql code i am trying to execute.
    select Band, Memb_contact =
    CASE
    when contact_person >= 0 then 'Yes'
    else 'No'
    end, Club_Name, Club_contact
    from Members, Club
    where contact_person = 'Yes'
    My column contact_person has a data type of boolean. It stores 1 and -1 only.
    I'm am trying to execute the select statement to return The Band Name and contact number only if the person
    is identified as a contact person in the members table.
    It return the following error:
    Msg 245, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
    Conversion failed when converting the varchar value 'Yes' to data type bit.
    Please help.

    Try the below: You can not have 'Yes' instead use 1.
    select Band, Memb_contact =
    CASE
    when contact_person >= 0 then 'Yes'
    else 'No'
    end, Club_Name, Club_contact
    from Members, Club
    where contact_person = 1

  • How to access PL/SQL data types through JDBC

    Hi,
    We have stored procedures written in PL/SQL. These stored procs take both IN and OUT parameters. The parameter types are both regular datatypes like NUMBER, VARCHAR etc. So far so good. I know how to handle these data types.
    Some of the stored procs also use parameters that are defined as composite data types like %ROWTYPE or %RECORD. How would I set the values of these data types? Can I use the oracle extension - support for Oracle Objects to accomplish this. If so please let me know with an example. If not any other suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Karthik

    JDBC (and SQLJ) only support SQL types as stored procedure arguments, not PL/SQL types.
    If your stored procedure uses a PL/SQL-only type, such as BOOLEAN, record types, or index-by tables, then you cannot call it from Java (or, for that matter, from other languages as well).
    There is one exception: scalar index-by table arguments have been supported since JDBC 8.1.7 in the JDBC-OCI driver (refer to the JDBC manual for specifics).
    One workaround is to create wrapper PL/SQL stored procedures that take SQL arguments and convert them to PL/SQL -and vice versa- and call the original PL/SQL stored procedures. For example, a record type could be exploded into individual arguments, or it could be converted into a SQL object type, index-by tables could be represented as SQL collection types, etc.
    You can find a small example of this in the back of the JPublisher manual, where an example is given how to call a PL/SQL stored procedure that takes BOOLEAN arguments.

  • Accessing/processing geospatial data types in Azure cloud services using Python

    Hi
    We are creating a cloud-services in Azure using Python and Django,
    and are trying to store the geospatial data into SQL Database,
    however Django doesn't not have a built-in spatial data support (unless we use GeoDjango, which doesn't support sqlserver through odbc)
    scenario:
    1. user saves current location, stored in column (geography/geometry type)
    2. user will also do some geospatial query (intersect)
    what is the preferred solutions for this? Python or .Net for azure ?

    Based on what you wrote, my understanding is that you will need to craft the queries yourself no matter whether you use Python or .Net (C#). Python might appear to be a simpler approach because you can stay in the same development environment. The benefit
    of the Microsoft .Net/C# approach that I can see is that both layers in your stack are then officially supported by Microsoft.

  • Loading Access 2000 table data hangs

    I am able to successfully create a model of my Access database but when it gets to the point of transfering the table data into my Oracle 8.1.6 database the OMWB hangs. The error log contains the following message:
    EXCEPTION : LoadTableData.run() : [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] You do not have the necessary permissions to use the 'C:\Projects\BMS\MARRS\CORE Files\new\CORE.mdb' object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you.
    I have tried exporting the Access tables to a new database and migrating from there with the same results. Any ideas?

    Post Author: Toby Legg
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    I've managed to figure this one out myself.
    To link the tables without crashing CR, I have to follow the following steps.
    File / New Blank Report.
    In the Database Expert that pops up, select the IMAGESQL database table I want to use and the MS Access Table I want to use.
    Click Finish.  Clicking anything else here like the Next button or the Link button will crash CR.
    Place the desired fields on the report.
    Select the Database Expert and click on link.  CR will then allow me to manually specify the link.
    Create my selection criteria.
    Save the report which will refresh the data.
    This seems to work correctly every time.

  • DI Access to AS400 data type error

    Running DI 11.7.3.  We are pulling data from an AS400 and are erroring out on the table read.  The field we are erroring out on is a numeric (7,0), yet the data is '?0?0?0?'.  If I remove the field in the data flow, it runs fine.  Is DI capable of pulling in the field to process if the value '?0?0?0?' does not match the type, numberic (7.0)?  I have seen no related links to this issue.  The following is the error received:
    |Dataflow CIS_PINCREL_AS400|Reader Query

    let me try to check how the conversion errors are handled while reading ? as far as I know for DB table source the convert problem with set the column value to NULL
    try following, change the datatype of the column to VARCHAR in Data Service datastore, double click on table in Datstore, open column properties and change the datatype to varchar, and use is_valid_decimal and to_decimal to convert the valid values to Decimal and non-valid values to NULL in a Query Mapping

    You must be getting the output as
    number is greater than 3
    everytime. right?
    its because of this line
    if(answear=true)
    This line will make the if loop as true everytime irrespective of answear, as you are not comparing true with answear but ur assigning true to answear.
    it should be
    if(answear == true)
    then it will work

  • [Access 2010] Change default formats for data types

    Whenever I import data, the default format for Boolean data types is "-1,0." I know how to subsequently change this format to "Yes/No," but I'd like to change the default
    setting to "Yes/No." Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I found you post the same question in other place and got the advice. I agree with Mr. Kees suggestion. The data type is a build-in default setting with Access, we can't change it. We may try the workaround via VBA to test.

  • Accessing oracle data types of a different schema

    I am having trouble accessing the Oracle data types in a stored procedure. The owner of the stored procedures and the oracle data types is "ODSCUST". I am trying to access this using "CUSTOM" ID from my java program. Recently our DBAs have made a change in schema owners so the ID loging into the Oracle instance is not the owner of the data types or the stored procedures. The "CUSTOM" user has the grants to access all the types and stored procedures. There are also public synonymns created for the oracle data types and stored procedure.
    Here is a snipit of the code:
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    String user="custom";
    String password="test";
    String database="sbpair11";
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection
    ("jdbc:oracle:oci:@" + database, user, password);
    OracleCallableStatement stmt = (OracleCallableStatement)conn.prepareCall( "begin ods_cust.retrieveCustPrflData(?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?); end;" );
    stmt.setString( 1, "5592556485");
    stmt.registerOutParameter( 2, OracleTypes.STRUCT, "KSCOPEACCOUNT" );
    stmt.registerOutParameter( 3, OracleTypes.ARRAY, "KSCOPERSUUSOCARRAY" );
    stmt.registerOutParameter( 4, OracleTypes.ARRAY, "KSCOPECUTADDRARRAY" );
    stmt.registerOutParameter( 5, OracleTypes.STRUCT, "KSCOPECONTACT" );
    stmt.registerOutParameter( 6, OracleTypes.STRUCT, "KSCOPEPROFILE" );
    stmt.registerOutParameter( 7, OracleTypes.ARRAY, "KSCOPEEMAILARRAY" );
    stmt.executeUpdate();
    Here is the response I get back when I run the program:
    Exception in thread "main" java.sql.SQLException: ORA-04043: object "CUSTOM"."KSCOPEACCOUNT" does not exist

    at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleCallableStatement.registerOutParameter(OracleCallableStatement.java:164)
    at Array5.main(Array5.java:40)
    Note:
    When I do a "desc KSCOPEACCOUNT" or "desc CUSTOM.KSCOPEACCOUNT" in sqlplus as the "CUSTOM" id it works but not from Java. Initially I was using the JDBC thin driver but was recomended to switch to OCI which still didn't resolve this issue.

    Way too little info here for a definite conclusion.
    Some thoughts:
    1.) Did you take down the database when you were moving the datafiles? If so, is this the first time the batch job is running since the move? If so, perhaps the cache is cold?
    2.) How much physical I/O is the batch job doing? Has the volume of physical I/O changed significantly after the move? What are the characteristics of the lun on which the newly mounted filesystem is built? Is it a smaller number of spindles than before?
    Ultimately, you need to profile the batch process, and determine where the most time is being consumed.

  • Sql server 2000 data type

    In sql server 2000, what data type do I use for a field that
    needs to show two decimal places? It is a weight field, so the
    weight in ounces could be something like 12.25 and it needs to
    store it this way in the database. I'm kind of new to sql server,
    so any help would be greatly appreciated!

    You asked "In sql server 2000, what data type do I use for a
    field that needs to show two decimal places?" and I answered
    "decimal and numeric". How much clearer could I be?
    Numeric data types with fixed precision and scale.
    decimal[(p[, s])] and numeric[(p[, s])]
    Fixed precision and scale numbers. When maximum precision is
    used, valid values are from - 10^38 +1 through 10^38 - 1. The
    SQL-92 synonyms for decimal are dec and dec(p, s).
    p (precision)
    Specifies the maximum total number of decimal digits that can
    be stored, both to the left and to the right of the decimal point.
    The precision must be a value from 1 through the maximum precision.
    The maximum precision is 38.
    s (scale)
    Specifies the maximum number of decimal digits that can be
    stored to the right of the decimal point. Scale must be a value
    from 0 through p. The default scale is 0; therefore, 0 <= s
    <= p. Maximum storage sizes vary, based on the precision.
    I recommend that you load SQL Server Books Online on your
    computer, as it is available free from Microsoft as a download and
    it has everything you will probably need to know about SQL Server.
    Or you could just use the online version at
