Access a MSAccess DB on a CD ROM

Hello,
I'm trying to access a MSAccess Database, secured with a password, on a CD-ROM using a JDBC connection.
Everything is still ok as long as the database is on a hard drive, but, when put on a cd rom, or in a read only directory, an error message about a bad password is returned by jdbc.
Is anyone got an idea ?
Thanks.

Accessing the database on the CD or in a read only directory using Microsoft Access is ok.
I don't have a .ldb file created when trying to query my database with JDBC, because i defined the JDBC connection in READONLY=true (anyway i have the same problem when i don't use READONLY=true).
It seems the problem lies in querrying with JDBC an access database with a password, when the file of the database is in readonly mode under Windows.
In fact, if I keep the same database removing the password, JDBC succeed in accessing the database on the CD Rom.
Moreover, JDBC succeed in accessing the database WITH the password, when the database is not on a CD Rom (or in a read only directory).
But, trying to query with JDBC the same database with the same password when put on a CD Rom, JDBC returns an error "Invalid Password".
That's why I find it really strange, because nothing has changed about the password.

  • No write access to files copied from a CD-ROM

    Hello:
I have searched and found a few topics on fixing permissions on files copied from CD-ROM that are read only. I would like to know if there is a way to prevent the problem. I routinely get files burned on Windows machines and I can copy the folders and enclosed files to my desktop but both the folders and the files inside show up with "Read Only" permissions.
While it is possible to fix it, I would have thought that if they are copied from a CD-ROM to my desxtop that I should automatically have write access to them. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Repartitioning and reformatting will remove all the information on the drives. You will prefer to backup any data you wish to save. You can do that by transferring those files to one of the two drives using a Windows computer or by purchasing a third drive that can be OS X formatted to which the data on one of the Windows drives may be copied. Then repartition/reformat one of the Windows drives for OS X and copy the data from the third drive to this drive. Then copy the data on the remaining Windows drive to the now empty third drive, repartition/reformat the second Windows drive. Finally, copy the data from the third drive to the second Windows drive.
There is really no need for a Time Capsule nor would it be preferred since you will now have three perfectly good external drives to use for backups and/or storage.

  • Trying to access a msaccess database on testing server

hi, wonder if anyone can help me.
I have been tring to connect to an access database on my ftp site wiothout any luck. The file is stored on the server and every time i try and make a database connection i get the same error, either via a DNS or from a connection string.
    the error is as follows.
HTTP Error  code 404 file not found
    possible reasons
1.there is no testingf server running on the machine
2.the testing server specified for this site does not map to the Http://mywebsite/httpdocs/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.asp URL. Verify that the URL prefix maps to the root of the site.
If I upload an .asp page with a <%Response.write(Server.MapPath("/mydatabase.mdb"))%>, when clicked the page returns;D:\inetpub\vhosts\mywebsite\httpdocs\mydatabases.mdb so proving that the server is running asp scripts. this will not work from the live data view , returning the error above. done the same with a time responswrite and works the same, okay when loaded on the server but will not run or link from dreamweaver cs3.
Any ideas would be grateful, my isp has helped me all they can but even they dont know why i cant get the connection to work.
    all the best, Mark

    >I have been tring to connect to an access database on my ftp site wiothout any luck
I assume you mean web server as you can't connect to Access via FTP
Check your paths for your testing server in site manager.

  • Beginning Database Access

I have simple JSP/Servlet application that I want to access my MSAccess database with. How do I do this? I've heard of JDBC but I'm not sure how to get started with it. Where can I find resources on beginning JDBC and where can I download drivers.
    Thanks,
    -Ray

You can use jdbc-odbc bridge driver -> available in jdk standard installation.
All that you need is access odbc driver.
It should be installed if you install access.
    You can read this tutorial:

  • Creative Cloud Update downloads, installs but doesn't work?

Every time I launch my computer (Mac, latest OS), I see there are 9 updates available to download for Adobe CC. Every time I update a single app or everything, it downloads, installs but nothing is actually done. When I get info on apps. everything still shows as 12.0 as if it has not been updated. When I restart the computer again, i get the message that there are still 9 updates available to download. This is an endless cycle and no matter how many times I "Update All", it will continue to download, install but nothing actually gets updated.
I've fixed disk permissions, deleted preferences and allowed read/write access to all the Adobe folders and it's still not working.
    Thanks.

    Hi Motionlab_AU,
Please navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ AAMUpdater/1.0 and rename to 1.0.old. Launch CC desktop and try updating again. (http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html)

  • Local versus Hosted Websites and Internet Explorer 7

I am working on a site that will be deployed over the internet and distributed on a DVD-ROM. There are many users that do not have access to the internet throughout the day as they are mobile. They have laptops and what to have access to the information on a DVD-ROM. The DVD is needed as the site is far larger than 700MB.
When I upload the site, it renders well using Safari (Mac), Firefox (Mac), Safari (Windows), Firefox (Windows), and Internet Explorer (7.X Windows).
When I create a DVD-ROM with a little autoexec.bat file to automatically load the browser and index file, it works great in all of the browsers I have listed above except, Internet Explorer. The javascript menu's are no where to be seen. I have spent time looking a the security issues, scripting permissions etc, and can't get it to work.
Have body have any specific helpful ideas? I really would like this to work under IE, especially since it renders just fine while accessing the site via the internet. I just doesn't work on a local copy.

I was having this problem too and found the Dreamweaver 8.0.2
updater that corrects that problem. See

    2)Created a table called orders in accdb1.mdb.
3)Added the foll lines in tnsnames.ora

  • A60 Windows XP will not start

When XP fails to start it just cycles continually trying to restart.
None of the options for restoring last known good configuration or starting in various safe modes work.
    The error message is :-
    UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
The Microsoft Knowledge base indicates that to access the Recovery Console the XP CD-ROM is required before running chkdsk/r, but because XP was OEM factory installed by Toshiba, this is not available.
Can anyone guide me towards a solution.
    Dave Cox

    Hi Dave,
If you do not have a bootable CD already, then you will need to get create one (using another PC of course). Try to Google for 'Ultimate Boot CD'. This contains many tools and utilities and can even be purchased if you do not have the means of burning your own version.
Obviously you will need some means of backing up your data once you have access to your HDD although you may find that you drive is inaccessible anyway. This will depend on exactly what is wrong with it.
To boot from CD (without changing your BIOS) Toshiba have a short-cut. Simply hold down the 'C' key while powering on your notebook and the unit will try to boot from the CD-ROM. This also works with the recovery CD(s).
    Best of luck

  • Database in a jar?

G'day folks, there is a similar but different question down below, but I will ask this anyways as I have gone through the archives and couldn't find an answer.
using 1.4.1_01 and MSAccess as my database.
I have written a small application that accesses a MSAccess DB. I have access on my machine and created the DB through the System dns steps, and am using the sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver (bridge driver), so, on my machine, the program works great. but I wanted to bundle it into a .jar and give it to a friend. So I placed the following in a jar called CoffeeJar.jar -
    PracDb.mdb
    InsertCoffeesGUI.class
and then there is also the Manifest.mnf (which just has Main-Class: InsertCoffeesGUI)
InsertCoffeesGUI is the main class. Now my understanding was that when InsertCoffeesGUI is compiled (and it has the Class.forName statement) it includes all the files that you need to run that class. And I thought that if you simply put the database and the class which accesses it in the same .jar file they should connect and talk. BUT, they don't and I get the error - [Microsoft][OdbcDriverManager]Data source name not found and no default driver specified - after searching the archives I have found some confusing info.
The first confusing part was stated that you have to include in the manifest file, a Class-Path: header with a relative path to the bridge driver.
the second confusing part was a statement that you have to include the driver in the .jar.
    So, my questions are?
1.what else do I have to do to get the .class file to connect to and talk to the PracDb?
    2. do I have to include the Class-Path statement in the manifest file to the jdbc.odbc bridge driver. if so what is the path. the closest that I can figure out is c:\"Program Files"\java\j2re1.4.1_01\lib\ext and from that I find a number of executable jar files including dnsns.jar - which is the only one that kinda sounds like it might be useful.
    3. Do I have to include a driver in the .jar?
    4. should I be using another database which is an embedded DB? and what the heck is an embedded DB? - I found a reference to hsqldb and went to the website and still couldn't figure this out? i.e how is an embedded db different from a msaccess Db?
    5. Am I supposed to create a dns on my friends computer - this is not very practical?
Any other information or references to info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot as always for helping me understand?

So would my CoffeeJar.jar contents look like this?
    InsertCoffeesGUI
    mydatabase
    MySQL.jar
    MySQL-Connector-java
and then with these items in there my application should be able to connect with my database? Sorry to be a pain, but I can't find anything anywhere. There is lots of info on JDBC and lots of info on JAR but nothing about how to put the two together, or what you need to do to get them to work together in a .jar!!!
    Thanks for your help, Oz!!!!!!!

  • Error in RSSDK_DATA_REMOTE_GET  Process Chain

    Hello,
I am getting 'Communication error: Call of FM RSSDK_DATA_REMOTE_GET to ProgId (progname)' when I launch a process chain in my BW Production system. The process chain extract data from Oracle database.
However, if I launch the InfoPackage manually, the extraction process complete successfully.
In BW Test system, I can launch the same process chain without problem.
Anybody know what is the problem or could tell me any log where I can check the error with more details?
I have been watching DefaultTrace.trc, Dev_rfc.trc, Dev_jrfc.trc, tx.SM21,... but there is nothing relative to the error. Also, I have checked JCo Destinations, SLD connection and SupportDesk tool and everything is OK.
I don't know what more can I do...
Please, any clue could be interesting. I hope you can help me.
    Regards,

    Problem solved!
First, you should know that if you are using more than one UD Connect source system, each of  them have to use different RFC and Program ID name.
Also, you have to check in tx.SM59 if the RFC you are using for UD Connect have the field 'Send Assertion ticket' (in Logon & Security tab) marked or not. In tab MDMP & Unicode, you have to define if your RFC is unicode or not.
In my case, I had to create new RFC (tx sm59) and Prog ID (in Visual Admin) for my second UD connect source system. One of the RFCs was unicode (to access to MSACCESS database) and both of them have unmarked the field 'Send Assertion ticket'.
Now the issues desappeared and my process chains works fine.

  • Appearance Manager 1.0.2 or 1.0.3?

Where can I download Appearance Manager 1.0.2 or 1.0.3, transfer it from my pc to my mac? Because I found some links, but they wont expand in stuffit (in my mac (IIvx))

    Mulligan,
System 7.1, of which you apparently are running an incomplete copy, does not contain MacTCP (nor TCP/IP). Therefore, I suggest that you try again to install System 7.5.3. The downloadable version is OK, and can be installed if the correct way of working is used (the basic method has been described in connection with your previous topics).
It may help if the Memory control panel is set to 32-bit addressing (is probably in the 24-bit position if a PRAM reset has been carried out).
Given the earlier difficulties, it is probably not a bad idea to begin with a hard disk that has been low-level formatted (initialised) by Drive Setup 1.7.3. You should be able to (on the Mac IIvx in its present state) create a number of modified floppies from Network Access disks. For information on how to create the tools disks, see my messages under the "LC 520 Boot Disks??" topic in this area of the Discussions. Also, modify a Network Access floppy to hold an Apple CD-ROM extension (place it in the Extensions folder). Finally, keep an unmodified Network Access floppy.
Save any important files to diskettes. After that, start the IIvx from the tools floppy containing Drive Setup 1.7.3. Select the hard disk from the list in Drive Setup. Check both Low level format and Zero all data under Initialization Options in the Functions menu. Initialise the hard disk (this will erase the disk, and all information will be lost). If there is a problem getting Drive Setup to recognise the hard disk, start from the floppy with the four keys Command (Apple) + Option (Alt) + Shift + Delete (Backspace) depressed.
If it is not possible to initialise the hard disk via Drive Setup 1.7.3, try another formatting utility (could this web page, maybe via a Google translation, be of any interest?).
When the hard disk has been successfully initialised, shut down the computer. Then start from an unmodified Network Access floppy. Dragging the system folder of the startup floppy onto the hard disk icon will provide you with a temporary system, which will free the floppy drive for subsequent file transfers.
