Access to sybase tables/views

Hi!
I am trying to get access to a sybase database through a JDBC connection. When we does a test in the JDBC test page with the user, we can see all the views and tables. But when we are trying to make a datasource based on this source system I get the message in the left lower corner "No values fir this Selection".
can this be related to that the user I have been given just have read access to these tables/views. In Oracle the user has to own the view/tables to make a datasource work..
If anyone can give me any answer, please let me know.

We have solved this problem by using an existing database that we get the rest of the data from.
This database makes a view and a connection that extract the data we needs

    You dont need to worry about the component usage nor you need to create or handle anything like that for AET compoent for table extension. SAP has a special way to handle it in WD_USAGE_INITIALIZE of component controller for AET extension generated component so its nothing for us to do about it. Thanks to SAP
    so still i need to redefine..or can directly access the nodes in do_prepare_output.?

  • How to access tables/views of an external database provider..

    After much trouble I finally managed to setup a second Database Provider that doesn't display the "0 out of 0 connections are good" error by filling in the "Configuration Class" field with "intradoc.server.DbProviderConfig".
    But now the problem is actually accessing the tables/views in my newly configured external database provider...
    In the Configuration Manager applet when I try to add a new Table or View it only lists the tables contained in the schema of the SystemDatabase database provider (the original one), I've tried running Queries via components trying stuff like SELECT * FROM provider_name.table_name and other similar but obviously it doesn't work...
    So... with that said, I just want to know how I access tables or views in my "supposedly" well conected (15 out of 15 connections are good, no errors on the Test Query) Oracle external Database Provider - After searching I was unable to find any information regading any post-provider-setup actions in the Content Server documentation - Does anyone know how to do this?
    On a side note, if the database is SQLServer instead of Oracle, with the same configuration and apparently no errors on the database side (other clients access it well) the Query Test of the new database provider returns the following error:
    "The provider 'TestSqlSrv' is in error. Unable to create database connection for JDBC:ODBC:SqlSrv. Unable to create result set for query 'select * from dummy'. Invalid Fetch Size Unable to create result set for query 'select * from dummy'. Invalid Fetch Size java.sql.SQLException: Invalid Fetch Size".But I won't even go there yet.... for now I would settle with just knowing how to reference information in the Oracle external database provider...

  • Loaded dump from 12.5.4 to 15.7, Error 622 & Tables/Views not found

    Hi all,
    I am getting desperate trying to fix that issue. I had to import a dump from an ASE 12.5.4 into a new database on an ASE 15.7. I therefore enabled the compatibility mode server-wide and then proceeded to the load which seems to have performed correctly. The database seems well imported, and I can access most of the tables/views/procedures (from my C# application), but a procedure is giving me troubles.
    I am getting this error while executing a given procedure :
    Error: 622, Severity: 20, State: 1
    Opentable was passed a varno of 52. Object 'temp worktable' in database 'tempdb' already has that session descriptor in use. This occured while opening object id -1245236 in database id 2.
    I realised this was caused by a view which is used in this procedure but which is weird is that the error is not thrown when running the SQL code itself, out of the procedure context.
    I am using Toad for Sybase as a client, and realised I cannot access the data tab of the concerned view, Toad gives me the same error. So I cannot execute this view while it performs without any trouble on  the original server (production server which runs ASE 12.5.4).
    I also realised, when trying to execute some pieces of the query individually that I get warnings about unfound tables (and that I should use sp_help to fix the problem). Although, the tables actually exists and I can access their data.
    I have tried so many things and still cannot fix this problem. I've used 'upgrade_object', 'sp_recompile' on all tables, 'dbcc reindex' on all tables.
    Would you have any idea where the problem could come from? Thank you very much

    Good to know that enabling compatibility mode before or after loading the load doesn't have any effect.
    I didn't drop/recreate all the SP and views but I can tell you I recreated a similar view and it causes the same issue.
    I had a look at your link yes. I have run 'dbcc upgrade_object' several times already, on the view and the procedures calling the view, and it won't solve anything.
    I've seen a similar post about the problem I have when executing the code itself of the view in a "normal" adhoc query (errors saying the tables are not found) : SAP Sybase Forums - ASE - Backup and Recovery - PRoblem after restore - Object does not exist.
    Could it be the same problem for me?
    Although I've tried splitting the SQL query and executing the parts individually and it works without any trouble. Problem is when the 2 parts of the view are put together. It may be something that was possible with ASE 12.5.4 but not with 15.7 and that compatiblity mode doesn't solve. My view consists of an union a two selects where both have left joins, case when then else, not in and a final group by (adding an order by doesn't help, as I tried).
    PS : I don't have access to the production server where the dump is actually from (but I could if it is really necessary)

    As per your requirement, AET table enhancement will be best suited to it.
    Use the help.sap.com link i gave in earlier reply to know more about  AET table enhancements.
    Now to get on to this task ,
    1) Use transaction AXTSYS and create an entry for Z component, give a name say ZAET_TBLEXT.
    and Save. The AET Table extension, then will use this component by default( if you select the radio button there) to create the views. Remember, just give any name you desire for the component. You dont need to create this componenet. AET extension wizard will create the component automatically.
    2) Open the overview page on which you would like to have the tableview as an assignment block. Since its a compititor info, i assume you want to place it on a BP/Account/Prospect. Competitor Overview Page or Opportunity Overview Page. Now chose the config button and once the Assignment blocks are highlighted, select the Header View( Compititor header or Opportunity header view depending on the overview page you are in) and config tool will open. Use the Display Enhancement button or create enhancement button and another popup will open which display the enhancements if any,
    3) On this Pop up you will see the AET table extensions assignment block. Use the Add table button. Follow the wizard and create the table, mention fields, translations etc. Also mention it as 1:n relation and so the table view. Chose the Standard buttons so you get all action buttons as well as inser, editlist, delete buttons etc.
    Once done, save and generate. This creates the view and also adds the component usage on overviewpage.
    Now all you need to do is just configure the overviewpag to pull the new tableview assignment block from Available to Displayed blocks.
    Note :
    1) this creates a Ztable , name same as mentioned/defaulted while AET table enahncement
    2) this create Z BOL entity with 1:n relation with Access Entity of OverviewPage , for example, BuilHeader if account overview page or BTAdminH if Opportunity overview page.
    3) creates BOL strucutre, handler class etc on its own.
    4) You do not need to do any coding,
    Thus in half an hour, you are done with Table view enhancement with Z table based entities.
    Before EhP1, we had to extend the BT/BP model with ZBOL and had to do a lot of thigs on our own. Almost 2 days job for an advance developer which is reduced to 15-20 minutes with zero coding required.
    If you have a sandbox or IDES system, i would recommand you to try it there frst, get confident and then do development on your development system.
    Remember ->
    1) AET Enhancement tool has to be started from WEB UI - which is generally runs on Customizing client, but creating AET table and enhancements is Workbench task. So if your customizing client is locked for workbench developments, then You must run the WEBUI on your workbench client ( use transaction wui ). It does not make any difference as far as development is concerned because your development its pure Workbench activity. later, you configure the Overview Page to pull the AET table view on your customizing client.
    2) Be confident and have well determined about the table design & about your table view design like the fields you need etc. because once you add the fields and mention the field type like Numeric, indicator,text etc, you can not change it later once the Tableview is generated. You can add more fields later and you can delete fields too but you can not change their type later.

  • Add data to table view from input fields in a page

            I am developing a BSP page which will be called from SRM shop transaction. After user enters the line item data, data will be passed back to shop transaction using OCI interface and the page attributes (URL).
       (1) How can I add data from input fields to table view on a page on a button click? I am able to add first line but I could not retain first line data when I try to add the second line.
          I am able to add multiple lines to table view if I use view and controller by adding to the line data to static attribute of the controller. I can’t use the controller and view because I can not set the attribute to Controller automatically.
       (2) Is there a way to pass an attribute (URL) to controller from SPRO? Like we pass an attribute to page automatically (Automatic page attribute).
       (3) How can I call a controller and view and pass the page attribute to the controller on a button click from a page with out controller?

    I think what was suggested was that you use SQL to generate the grants on each and every view, that is, you use SQL to generate SQL where the SQL being generated is "grant select on view_name to role'"
    If you users to connect to Oracle you have to create usernames for them though if the users only connect via an application the application might run just as one user and access to the application is controled via application security. The control on the application can be via Directory Services such as OID or MS Active Directory. User access to Oracle can also be controlled via OID.
    To connect to Oracle you can use OS authenication (not recommended), usernames with passwords, or via Advanced Security Option which supports single sign-on products like Kebros or Oracle Internet Directory etc....

  • Access ODBC link table list ONLY one table

    Hi all,
    I try to link Oracle tables from Microsoft Access via Link Table. The return list show ONLY one table, which by right it should show ALL tables in my Database.
    What is the problem here? Anyone encounter this same problem before.
    My database is very large, over 10,000 tables. Can it be because of resources issues?
    Pls help

    Are they all real tables are or some of them perhspa VIEWS, SYNONYMS or the like? The default list is for just tables. I have seen cases where a really large list would make Access puke, but this generally results in getting nothing listed.

  • Extract Tables/views into ECC 5.0 SAP system from Non-SAP system

    I am looking for some inputs on how to set up the following scenario of extracting data stored in tables/views in a non-sap external system into my SAP ECC 5.0 SAP database.
    Currently we are using a middleware between SAP and the external system to fetch data. I would like to get rid of the middleware and set up a scenario to call this non-sap external system and pull data stored in views into our SAP system directly. Is that possible in SAP version 5.0? If yes let me know the steps to be performed... do I need to set up XI ?

  • No read access to system tables

    Hi
    i try to migrate access db to oracle and when testing connection it gives me error message says "no read access to system tables modify access db before retrying"
    what to do?

    For a connection to a Microsoft Access database, click Browse and find the database (.mdb) file. However, to be able to use the connection, you must first ensure that the system tables in the database file are readable by SQL Developer, as follows:
    Open the database (.mdb) file in Microsoft Access.
    Click Tools, then Options, and on the View tab ensure that System Objects are shown.
    Click Tools, then Security, and, if necessary, modify the user and group permissions as follows: select all tables whose names start with Msys, and give the Admin user at least Read Design and Read Data permission on these tables. Save changes and close the Access database file.
    Create and test the connection in SQL Developer.

  • Database objects Tables, Views, Indexes not expand in Connections navigator

    In SQL Developer tool when I clicked on any database object: Tables, Views, Indexes, Packages, Procedures, Functions, and Triggers none of them expands in Connections navigator so I am not able to see all tables, Views, Indexes in this schema objects.
    Please advise

    If the user you're connecting with is not the owner of the objects, you can access them through the Other Users node.

  • Complete table view controller with XML

    Hello, I'm from Brazil and am new to ios.
    Today I am making an example where I use a table view controller and fill it witharray (NSMutableArray).
    However I would do the same using XML so that now, I'm having so many difficulties to the point of not knowing where to start.
    The code I use to populate this array was.
    It is possible to use something like XML?

    If you have a custom XML schema (not a plist), consider two approaches.
    1. Before showing your table view, use NSXMLParserto deserialize the XML document into an NSMutableArray that will be the table view data source.  Typically the array contains custom class instances; one or more class properties are used to set table cell properties in cellForRowAtIndexPath.  If you have never worked with NSXMLParser (or any other SAX parser) before, start by creating a sample app so you understand how that works.
    2. Use a 3rd-party DOM parser like GDataXML.  Load your XML document into a class property in your table view's viewDidLoad.  Then the XML document will be the table view data source since elements and attributes can be directly queried using XPath in cellForRowAtIndexPath.  If you have never worked with XML DOM and XPath before, start by creating a sample app so you understand how that works.
    If your have a lengthy complex XML document, option #1 might be more efficient because indexed array access is faster than XPath queries.  Theoretically that is why Apple's Cocoa provides DOM support on OS X but not iOS.  There are strategies to improve efficiency if necessary, including your own indexing scheme.  The best solution depends on many factors.  For example, if your XML document includes thousands of rows, but users rarely scroll past the first 10, option #1 would waste time parsing everything.
    Both of these approaches keep all data in memory, which is fast but not friendly.  Perfectly fine for reasonably sized data sets.
