Accessing a loaded variable

I have been fighting with a form setup and finally think I
have it just about figured out.
I have a base flash file named light3 which contains a
movieclip called "Form". Inside form is the username and login
fields. When the user clicks submit, a movie called accessMsg comes
up ( attachMovie("accessMsg", "accessMsg", 1)
and runs while the ok or bad response comes back from a
coldfusion page. In that accessMsg movie is where the result is
read and determined if it is ok or bad:
if(_root.CFresponse1 == "ok")
_root.form.Address = Address
_parent.gotoAndStop(3);
this.removeMovieClip();
else if(_root.CFresponse1 == "bad")
_root.form.attachMovie("invalidMsg","invalidMsg",2 );
_root.form.invalidMsg._x = -5;
_root.form.invalidMsg._y = 60;
this.removeMovieClip();
This works.
However when the orginal light3.swf is loaded into a main
movie timeline, it doesn't work anymore.
What do I need to change on the if(_root.CFresponse1 == "ok")
code? I have tried (parent.CFresponse1) but that didn't work
either. The variable coming back from flash should be loading into
the "form" movieclip where the submit button resides, correct?? How
do I call a variable in the form movieclip from the accessMsg
clip?

I found the problem. In the main.swf file, when I loaded the
other 2 files, I didn't specify the LoaderContext. So now I
modified the loader context so that all the files will load their
class definitions on the same domain. Here is a little example
taken from senocular and the
link.

    Hi guys ,
    I know that I am stupid but I just can't get this!  AS3 says you need to load variables into a class?  Please please give me a simple example
    my variables look like this... (the whole point of playing around with variables was that if I had to make a change I could access one place and change them...
    but now I realse that I can't access or call them outside the movie clip they are in:(

    no, that's not a reason you would use a class file.
    anyway, your document class variables are defined on the main timeline so to reference them from any timeline you can use:
    MovieClip(root).w36;  // for example  (but it's really undesirable to have coding in more than one timeline)

  • Not able to access Network Shared Variable when deployed in PC

    Initially, when we deploy a Network Published Shared Variable in PC and try to access the same (Read/Write) from RT, we get an error/warning "-1950679023". But when we access the same variable from the PC, it works fine. In the distributed system manager, we can see the variable getting deployed. Also the value changes in Distributed System Manager if we write a value from PC. The attached image "Shared variable Issue.png" will give more understanding of this issue.
    The other way round it works fine i.e deploying in RT side and accessing from both RT and PC is working fine.
    We also see that the network adapter settings is not loading properly in MAX, if at all we install any software in RT. With no software installed, it loads properly.
    The following were the steps that we tried to solve the issue.
    1.Flushing the entire NI software and Re- installing again
    2.Formatting the RT(PXI).
    3.Removing the EtherCAT Card and testing.
    4.Checked the network properties of the RT network.
    5.Checked the IP/Subnet/Gateway settings.
    6.Checked Firewall Settings, If Shared Variable Engine is accessible.

    First Root cause needs to be identified before any actions.
    I would suggest first check if you can access the shared variable hosted in PC from RT using other ways like using SVE API (Logos and PS protocols, Datasocket etc..)
    Check if antivirus or firewall is playing...
    Check the same experiment with some other PC if you can.
    You can also try creating another Shared Variable in RT and binding the same to the PC and try to access it...
    Since you have did all the reinstallations already
    Best Regards,
    Vijay.

  • Loading Variables from ASP into Flash

    I can find plenty of tutorials detailing how to load
    variables from a defined asp page into Flash, but here's my
    dilemma...
    I have an asp page that is reading a URL with a unique
    identifier in it (www.sampleURL.com?id=123456), and then turns the
    id number from the URL into a variable. On the same page then, sits
    my swf where I need to use LoadVars to pull in that ASP variable
    via Actionscript. If I don't have a static asp page to pull the
    variables in from and I want to pass the variable within the same
    asp page the swf is located on, how do I do it? Many thanks in
    advance...

    You don't need LoadVars for this at all. You can just pass
    the variable to
    your Flash movie by specifying a query string when you are
    calling the
    movie.
    If you are using the straight object, embed method then it
    would look
    something like this:
    <param name="movie" value="movie.swf?id=11111">
    <embed src="movie.swf?id=11111" ... >
    If you are using the ActiveContent JavaScript for your movie
    then you just
    leave off the .swf... so
    "name", "movie?id=11111"
    Then, in flash you can access the value of id from the _root,
    like
    var idInFlash:Number = _root.id;
    Of course in the above example you would replace 11111 with
    the proper
    syntax for printing a variable's value in ASP.

  • Please help with Load Variables / ASP

    Hello,
    I am using Load Variables to retreive a variable from an ASP
    page, (which uses a response.write) to output the variable
    getfile.onRelease = function()
    myData = new LoadVars();
    myData.onLoad = function(success){
    if(success) {
    getfile_txt.text = this.strString;
    } else {
    getfile_txt.text = "error";
    myData.load("sendFile.asp");
    stop();
    the problem is that the output says "undefined", but when I
    access the .asp page through my web browser I get the expected
    result of the variable which is "Test1.Doc"
    if any1 can help with this, i would be massivley thankful,
    thanks.

    p.s strString is the variable that I am trying to pass from
    the ASP page.

  • Load Variables

    how i can load variables from a text file on JSP page?

    how i can load variables from a text file on JSP page?Give it up. JSP is transformed into Java and, in Java, you can't add variables at run time. And a good thing too, it's an inherently risky thing to do (suppose a typo in your text file overrode an important program variable).
    So we load this kind of configuration data into a Map structure, usually a Properties object. Then you can safely access stuff by name with getString() etc.. It's not noticably harder than using a variable anyway.
    JSP isn't PHP or ASP, you need to change your thinking somewhat.

  • Accesing externally loaded variables

    i would greatly appreciate a pointer or two as i am having a
    painful transition to AS2.0
    an 8k zip test is at: www.cyan-animatica.com/v2/exttest.zip
    //(wasn`t there an option back in macromedia days to attach a
    file?)
    i am having a poblem accesing externally loaded variables :
    A.--------------------------------------------------------------------
    the external .txt has folowing content:
    &a1_0=hello&a1_1=bye&a1_2=whatever
    B.--------------------------------------------------------------------
    loaded on the first frame thus:
    var thumbs:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    thumbs.onLoad = function(success:Boolean):Void {
    if (success) {
    trace("LoadVars loaded successfully: "+this.loaded);
    } else {
    trace("Error");
    thumbs.load("my_externals.txt");
    C.--------------------------------------------------------------------
    if want to access one of 3 loaded variable hardcoding, this
    works just fine:
    trace(_root.thumbs.a1_1) //bye
    BUT i need to do this based on the mc/buton name that calls
    it:
    on (press) {
    var kk:String = _name;
    trace(_root.thumbs.kk);
    i get UNDEFINED...obviously i am mixing datatypes if not
    worse

    thanks for a prompt reply, blemmo.
    you write:<<to ADD vars to the LoadVars object, it has
    to be referenced correctly
    what i want to do is READ vars from LoadVars object and
    referencing is exactly what is killing me
    sorry bout the lack of clarity. the zip would help
    (www.cyan-animatica.com/v2/exttest.zip)
    i am loading 3 variables into an object var thumbs:LoadVars
    from one external .txt file:
    a1_0=hello
    a1_1=bye
    a1_2=whatever
    i want to see the contens of let us say the second variable
    trace(_root.thumbs.a1_1);
    produces bye , perfectly - this is exactly what i want, but i
    want it based on a constructed reference
    so, i have button in an mc named "a1_1", the button script
    is:
    on (press) {
    var kk:String = _name;
    trace(kk); // produces a1_1
    trace(_root.thumbs.kk); //this should be same as
    _root.thumbs.a1_1 and produce the same result, but does not
    i suspect that the problem is that kk is declared as string
    datatype, but no matter what i do i cannot get a result
    thanks for your help

  • How do I access the DCJMS* variables in my response SOAP:Header ?

    Hi all,
    I have set up a sync / async Integration Process in XI
    This is initiated by a SAP R/3 transaction that calls a synchronous function to enter XI
    Once in the Bridge, a JMS receiver adapter sends out an asynchronous request message from XI to MQ
    A correlation allows the JMS sender adapter to return an asynchronous response message from MQ to XI back into my the Integration Process
    I have set up the JMS sender adapter configuration to return the DC (dynamic configuration) variables in the <SOAP:Header> of the XI response message along with the payload
    You can see that the DCJMS* variables are returned below

    I want to access the DCJMS* variables but am not sure how to go about it as the
    variables exist in the <SOAP:Header>?
    I followed the SAP documentation to access adapter-specific attributes (refer to link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/14/80243b4a66ae0ce10000000a11402f/frameset.htm )
    I have used the following code to create a user-defined function for the accessing adapter specific attributes (similar to the link)
    public String Get_Msgid(Container container){
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get
    (StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create

    String jmsMsgID = conf.get(key);
    return jmsMsgID;
    <b>Question</b>
    Do I use message mapping to extract the DCJMS* variables?
    <b>Question</b>
    If so then which message is used for the source message so that I can access the <SOAP:Header>?  Eg do I use the response message type or is there a trick to accessing the SOAP:Header?
    <b>Question</b>
    Do I use the user-defined function (like above)?
    I performed the following steps
    •     Opened the message mapping in edit mode
    •     Created the user-defined function using the graphical editor
    •     Saved the message mapping
    •     I have not connected the user-defined function to any of the xml tags in either the source or target messages

    A thread in the SDN (Error while Activating Message Mapping, Posted: Jan 9, 2007 3:32 PM) suggests checking the java path on the XI machine
    This is JAVA_HOME=C:\j2sdk1.4.2_08 and seems ok
    <b>Question</b>
    Do you know why I would get the compilation error?
    Any assistance would be appreciated
    Regards,
    Mike

    Jin,
    My compilation issue has gone via a SAP recommendation to specify the JDK home directory in the instance profile
    Back to the mapping - I can now run my scenario
    <b>Source message</b>
    The response message has the following <SOAP:Header> from which I want to extract the DCJMSCorreleationID (note that it's misspelt)
      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
    - <!--  Response
      -->
    - <SAP:DynamicConfiguration xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="1">
      <SAP:Record namespace="http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/JMS" name="DCJMSCorreleationID">40D982A0-B19D-11DB-9508-0002A5D5916B</SAP:Record>
      <SAP:Record namespace="http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/JMS" name="DCJMSTimestamp">1170297456940</SAP:Record>
      <SAP:Record namespace="http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/JMS" name="DCJMSMessageID">ID:414d5120514d4430312020202020202045c12b962001dd02</SAP:Record>
      </SAP:DynamicConfiguration>
    <b>Grahpical mapping</b>
    LHS - Response message with occurrance 0..1 so it is not connected to my UDF
    UDF Get_Corrid with no inputs
    RHS - The UDF output is connected to the Acknowledgement msg tag <ACK>
    <b>UDF</b>
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get
    (StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create
    ("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/JMS","DCJMSCorreleationID");
    String Corrid = conf.get(key);
    return Corrid;
    <b>Target message</b>
    The idea is to copy the correlation id of the response message into the acknowledgement message.  But as you can see the result is NULL
      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    - <ns2:AWB0020_MARKET_DATA_RESPONSE_ACK xmlns:ns2="http://awb.com.au/mq/tx/MarketData">
      <ACK>null</ACK>
      </ns2:AWB0020_MARKET_DATA_RESPONSE_ACK>
    Please advise
    Thanks Mike

  • Accessing a private variable from a public method of the same class

    can anyone please tell me how to access a private variable, declared in a private method from a public method of the same class?
    here is the code, i'm trying to get the variable int[][][] grids.
    public static int[][] generateS(boolean[][] constraints)
      private static int[][][] sudokuGrids()
        int[][][] grids; // array of arrays!
        grids = new int[][][]
        {

    Are you sure that you want to have everything static here? You're possibly throwing away all the object-oriented goodness that java has to offer.
    Anyway, it seems to me that you can't get to that variable because it is buried within a method -- think scoping rules. I think that if you want to get at that variable your program design may be under the weather and may benefit from a significant refactoring in an OOP-manner.
    If you need more specific help, then ask away, but give us more information please about what you are trying to accomplish here and how you want to do this. Good luck.

  • How can I run two different vi's in same project which are accessing same global variable with out effecting the speed of the execution of both the vi's

    Hi
    I have build an Labview project with FPGA target .  I have configured an FPGA VI and an host Vi to acquire data and logged the data to a file and stored the latest data in a global variable simultanously. I have configured one more VI in the same project  to access the global variable.  I have build a dll to access both the VI as functions in LabWindows/CVI code.  My task in CVI is to update configured GUI with latest data periodically and run the  host VI continously for a long time and log the data to a file. GUI should update for every one second with latest data for this I am using the second VI in which I am accessing the global varibale in which the latest data has been stored in host VI.

  • How to access a javascript variable from Java?

    The only way to pass values between JavaScript and JSP is through cookies. It sucks, I know, but right now that is the only option.
    You already are creating a cookie in JavaScript. So go ahead and read it in Java:
    Cookie[] cookies = request.getCookies();
    for(int i = 0; i < cookies.length; i++) {
        Cookie c = cookies;
    if (c.getName().equals("un")) {
    // Do what you need here.

  • Not able to access parent instance variable in outside of methods in child

    Hi,
    I am not getting why i am not able to access parent class instance variable outside the child class intance methods.
    class Parent
         int a;
    class Child extends Parent
         a = 1; // Here i am getting a compilation error that Syntax error on token "a", VariableDeclaratorId expected after this token
         void someMethod()
              a = 1;  // Here i am not getting any compilation error while accessing parent class variable
    }Can any one please let me know exact reason for this and what is the error talks about?

    You can only put assignments or expressions inside methods, constructors or class initializors, or when declaring a variable.
    It has nothing to the with Child extending Parent.
    class Parent {
        int a = 1;
        { a = 1; }
        public Parent() {
            a = 1;
       public void method() {
           a = 1;
    }

  • How to load variables from a .txt file

    Hi.
    I usually make a flash aplication in colaboration with a php
    programmer. But i want to test my swfs without having to wait for
    him. So i want to do that through a text file. I know that flash
    can load variables from text files. The problem is i don't know how
    to format the text file ( example.txt).
    Thank you

    Here's a couple of ideas.
    First you probably want to change what you have...and put
    your 'if (pVar==1' etc inside a separate function and call it from
    the onLoad handler after you have assigned the value to pVar...
    because the onLoad will run at some unknown point in time after
    loading has finished (actually in the test environment this might
    work... but that wouldn't be the same as what happens in a
    production setting).
    To create test files for loadvars... simply create a new as2
    file and put this code on the first frame and test movie:
