Accessing a mysql database in struts

Hy, people, everyone ok????I have a problem: I am making a web application using apache struts were the action calls a DAO wich already have a connection with the database, by a connection that dont use a datasource(yet), so I need to load a driver from the java packages to use to instantiate the connection passing the url, login and password to the drivermanager to create the connection object.Wich driver should I put for the dirvermanager?I mean, what I use in this comand:Class.forName("the driver???");????????

I'm fine. I hope everyone else is too. How are things
in your section of the world? Is your family doing
okay? I hope your neighbors are friendly and the
weather is nice. I wonder if it's Friday when/where
you're reading this. Did you get plenty of rest the
last time you slept? Did you have nice dreams? I hope
you did, because it's important to get a restful
night's sleep. It can really, really help you get
through the day in a great mood. It can even help you
be more okay, especially when you haven't been getting
as much rest as you should.ça va yawmark. It is indeed Friday where I am. As for my nocturnal somnolence, it was interrupted by my four-year old who had a bad dream and came to sleep next to her mother. My wife then retired to another room to pursue further torpidity. I, on the other hand, had to deal with a coughing child. On the whole however, I feel okay. I hope that this prose reaches you in a state of general well-being.
Thanks for all your concern,
Streamy.

  • Access to MySql Database in the Web Service

    Hi all,
    In my j2me web service project, i want to access to MySql database in the web service and

    but i have not access to MySql database in the web service yet...
    please help...

    Hi Luis,
    If you see closely, the productID is actually a concatenation of the areaID and the productID. The reasoning here is that a product can be in multiple nodes of the product catalog and one would need to specify the product on a particular node for the direct URL to work.
    On a client site, we came up with a better solution by creating a new FM to retrieve the specific areaID and productID for a product. This FM could be called by extending the webshop. Then a .NET program was written to re-direct a shortened form of the URL to the long URL and therefore the specific product in the product catalog. Eg.: http://yyyyy.com/b2c/b2c/product would be automatically redirected to http://yyyyy.com/b2c/b2c/init.do?shop=<shop name>&areaID=<area Guid>&productID=<product Guid>, something similar to the concept behind "tinyurl.com". A point to remember here is that this would work only for the B2C webshop.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Ashok.

  • Problem with connection in Mysql database in struts application

    Helllo
    i've just started learning struts for my new project where i'm having problem in accessing mysql database
    the datasource being defined in struts-config.xml is as follows:
    <data-sources >
        <data-source type="org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.BasicDataSource">
          <set-property property="driverClassName" value="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" />
          <set-property property="user" value="root" />
          <set-property property="password" value="" />
          <set-property property="minCount" value="" />
          <set-property property="maxCount" value="" />
          <set-property property="description" value="A" />
          <set-property property="url" value="jdbc:mysql:///dnbotind_nbotdb" />
          <set-property property="readOnly" value="false" />
          <set-property property="autoCommit" value="true" />
          <set-property property="loginTimeout" value="" />
        </data-source>
      </data-sources>as i run the application
    it gives the errors HTTP status 404-Servlet action is not available
    Thx in advance

    student-java wrote:
    it gives the errors HTTP status 404-Servlet action is not availableThis is unrelated to the datasource configuration.
    HTTP 404 is a "Page not found" error. The request URL is simply wrong. Either there's a typo in the URL, or there is a typo in the servlet mapping, or the servlet is not there where you think.

  • JBoss error when EJB try to access a MySql database

    Hi folk,
    I deployed my EAR in Jboss 3.2.8 that access a MySql db. On my local Windows machine everything works perfect.
    On the production environment (Linux Fedora) when the bean starts to access the database this hell of an error is triggered.
    Never seen something like that. Any idea? Shall I configure something in MySql db?

    So even this slight difference of versions created a problem.
    Thanks for the reply and I hope this can help somebody else.

    I can't think of what the problem may be other then the following issues:
    - the mysql database would allow access from the jdbc application as it is seen as a local process whereas it may not for the webservice as it is seen as a remote process???
    - I may need to utilize a different datasource class to give the webservice access rights?
    Any help or advice in how this problem might be resolved or even just what it is would help me greatly. Thanks for you time in advance.

    I am getting this problem from java nio server to java nio client. I get it intermittently on windows. Have not tried other os's. It almost seems like some kind of race condition as my unit test case was passing for the past few weeks and when i changed some code today, it started failing intermittently with this error.

  • Using two MySQL databases at once

    I have a situation where one PHP page needs to access two
    MySQL databases
    for different functions (it's in integration thing). I don't
    think I can
    combine the databases because two different programs are set
    up and using
    them separately. Is there a way to do this without PHP
    getting as confused
    as it's getting? Obviously I'm no MySQL and PHP expert.....

    I think I've got it. There might be other tweaks needed, but
    I moved the
    EasyPHPCalendar table into the same database as the Wordpress
    table. With
    luck (I'll know tomorrow when I mess with it) that should cut
    the confusion
    factor!

  • Producing forms from mysql database

    I have a website that collects various information from a
    user. I then want it to produce a .pdf file that the user can
    download. The .pdf file would be a form with field values taken
    from an Access or MySQL database. It would be similar to producing
    a tax form with data from a database (the user does not fill in a
    .pdf form). What product lets me design the form for my website,
    and then lets the website produce the filled-in form?
    Thanks, Art Lieberman

    Your best source of questions and answers for the Acrobat

    That being said, I believe that one of the Livecycle server

    I can't think of what the problem may be other then the following issues:
    - the mysql database would allow access from the jdbc application as it is seen as a local process whereas it may not for the webservice as it is seen as a remote process???
    - I may need to utilize a different datasource class to give the webservice access rights?
    Any help or advice in how this problem might be resolved or even just what it is would help me greatly. Thanks for you time in advance.

  • CS3 mysql database connection using php

    Hi, this is my first time trying to connect to a database.  I have created a mysql database with my hosting provider.  I am also configured to use php. I have ready numerous threads on this topic, but am still confused.
    I am getting the following error message:
    When I enter the following information into the connection string, I get the following error Error http error code 404 file not found. The site does not map to ftp.readyhosting.com/_mmserverscripts/mmhttdb.php Is the location of mysql server correct? Connection name ? user defined ?aosprod?
    Mysql server = aoswebeditor.readyhostingmysql.com.  Also, this is not the same location as the web server.
    The hosting company provides the following php code to connect to the database.
    <?php
    $link = mysql_connect('aoswebeditor.readyhostingmysql.com', 'aosweb', '*password*');
    if (!$link) {
        die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error());
    echo 'Connected successfully';
    mysql_select_db(aos);
    ?>
    Because of the connection dialog boxes in CS3, I have not used this php code but only used the mysql server aoswebeditor.readyhostingmysql.com.
    My requirements are very simple, I want to use the same remote database for the dreamweaver connection for the remote and testing server.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks. George

    First of all, you seem to be mixed up about terminology. ASP stands for Active Server Pages, and is a type of server technology similar to PHP. I think you mean ISP (Internet Service Provider). However, this is not correct, either. An ISP provides your connection to the internet. Although some ISPs also host websites for their customers, your website is normally located at a hosting company. You need to get that mixup out of the way. Otherwise, you might confuse people with future questions about ASP, when you actually mean something completely different.
    OK, lecture over...
    Your hosting company is following standard procedure by preventing remote access to MySQL databases. However, Dreamweaver does make it possible to use your remote database and website for testing purposes. It does so by uploading a hidden folder called _mmServerScripts to your remote server. This performs a local connection with your database, and then sends the results back to your local computer. When setting up your testing server definition in Dreamweaver, you need to provide the details as I indicated before. When creating a MySQL connection in Dreamweaver, fill in the server name and account details as given to you by your hosting company. If everything is set up correctly, you should be able to use your remote server and database for testing.
    Having said that, it is much better to install a local testing environment. You'll find it faster, and it also lets you make mistakes (an essential part of the learning process) in the security of a closed environment. For details of how to set up a local testing environment, see this article in the Adobe Developer Connection.

  • Runtime error during createStatement() trying to connect to MySQL database

    I am trying to make a script to access a MySQL database over the internet. I can get this to work on my home server using PHP, but I can't figure out why my code below is not working. I get a runtime error in the conn.createStatement() line but I can't figure out what the problem is... Any help is appreciated...
    import java.sql.Connection; import java.sql.DriverManager; import java.sql.ResultSet; import java.sql.SQLException; import java.sql.Statement; public class sqltest extends Activity {                 Connection conn=null; try { // from http://help.godaddy.com/topic/319/article/262 conn = DriverManager.getConnection( "jdbc:mysql://profiles.db.1111111.hostedresource.com:3306/dbname", "dbname", "password"); } catch (SQLException e1) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e1.printStackTrace(); } try { // Create a result set containing all data from mysql_all_table Statement stmt = conn.createStatement(); ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM *");                 } }
    PS: I am developing this code for android using Eclipse, but I think the issue is a pure java code related...

    You catch the conection exception and keep on going. So 'conn' is null. That produces a null pointer exception at the createStatement() line. Which I am guessing the IDE tells you exactly that.

  • Connecting to an online mysql database

    Good morning,
    I've been developing a website using Dreamweaver, Coldfusion,
    and MySQL on my local computer. On the localhost the website works
    well. Now I'm ready to upload my pages and need to update the data
    source so my pages can access the MySQL databases hosted by
    GoDaddy.com. I've had no luck talking with their customer service
    about which driver / which port I should use to make the
    connection. I understand that Remote Development Services (RDS) is
    disabled on their server. Am I missing any steps? Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Tony

  • How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

    How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

    If the data is on a remote server (for example, PHP running on a web server, talking to a MySQL server) then you do this in an AIR application the same way you would do it with any Flex application (or ajax application, if you're building your AIR app in HTML/JS).
    That's a broad answer, but in fact there are lots of ways to communicate between Flex and PHP. The most common and best in most cases is to use AMFPHP (http://amfphp.org/) or the new ZEND AMF support in the Zend Framework.
    This page is a good starting point for learning about Flex and PHP communication:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/flex_php.html
    Also, in Flash Builder 4 they've added a lot of remote-data-connection functionality, including a lot that's designed for PHP. Take a look at the Flash Builder 4 public beta for more on that: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashbuilder4/

  • Accessing mysql database from oracle using dg4odbc

    I've been trying to create a database link from a MySQL database to Oracle using the Oracle dg4odbc gateway. I downloaded and installed DataDirect's ODBC package which includes mysql ODBC library (ddmysql24.so) and a generic ODBC libary (libodbc.so). After creating the DSN in odbc.ini, I tested it and it can connect to the mysql database. Then I created the init{SID}.ora file in hs/admin directory, added dg4odbc lines in the listener.ora, and added lines in tnsnames.ora. Then I tnspinged the new SID with success. Finally, I created the database link. However, when I tried to access the database link using the commands "select * from mdl_user@moodle;", I got the ORA-28500 error like the following:
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
    [DataDirect][ODBC 20101 driver][20101]You have an error in your SQL syntax;
    check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right
    syntax to use near '"mdl_user"' at line 1
    ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from MOODLE
    My mysql database is utf8 by default. Do I have to use latin1?
    It seems to me that the dg4odbc translates the sql commands incorrectly (having double quotes around the selected table).
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Jeffrey

    The syntax error occures for example when MySQL isn't running in ANSI mode and thus does not allow double quotes around the objects. DG4ODBC 11.1.0.6 by default always adds double quotes to table/column/view names.
    A quick test to check if you hit the double quote issue would be to set the MySQL DB into ANSI mode:
    - Open SQL*Plus
    - execute:
    DECLARE
    ret integer;
    c integer;
    BEGIN
    c := DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.OPEN_CURSOR@moodle;
    DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.PARSE@moodle(c, 'SET SESSION SQL_MODE=''ANSI_QUOTES'';');
    ret := DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.EXECUTE_NON_QUERY@moodle(c);
    dbms_output.put_line(ret ||' passthrough output');
    DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH.CLOSE_CURSOR@moodle(c);
    END;
    - Now run your select statement
    => if it now works, you can permanently change the MySQL config to be ANSI compliant or you can apply the 11.1.0.7 patchset to DG4ODBC.

  • Accessing MySql database in jsp

    hi everyone!!!
    i m new to java with little knowledge of jsp.
    i want to access mysql database in jsp to develop a web page.
    i have jdk and mysql installed and these are working. what are other requirements and how to do this.
    plz help.
    OS: MS Windows XP/ Fedora 10

    Learn JDBC API: [http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jdbc/index.html]. Create a DAO class which uses JDBC to interact with Java and takes or returns the desired data in form of DTO's. Use and test it as a plain vanilla Java application with a main() method. This require a JDBC driver (a concrete implementation of the JDBC API) in the classpath. MySQL offers JDBC drivers as download at their homepage, it is called "Connector/J".
    Once you got the JDBC part to work, create a Servlet class which holds an instance of the DAO class and uses its methods to interact with the database. In the doGet() you can place logic to preload data from the DAO class for display. In the doPost() you can place logic to process data for create, update or delete using the DAO class. Finally let it forward the request to a JSP.
    In the JSP you can use JSTL/EL to display data. For tabular view you may find the JSTL c:forEach useful. For plain display, just use EL the usual way.
