Accessing an item on a page based on authorization scheme

Hi,
I've two authorization schemes :ADMIN and VIEW.I've created a public page which will be accessed by both schemes.But on that page in particular region I want to display an item only for ADMIN not for VIEW scheme.

for that region properties , go to conditional display and use this bult in function (after you pick plsql function return boolean) : APEX_UTIL.PUBLIC_CHECK_AUTHORIZATION('your_auth_scheme');
This function return true if current user is in that auth. scheme.

Restricting Fields (Items in a Page) based on Userid

I have an opportunity to replace a bunch of departmental MS Access DB's with HTMLDB. I have HTMLDB 1.6.1 running in a 9.2.0.6 database on Solaris with the 10g (R1) app server. I am very impressed overall with this product. I have created a bunch of samples apps based on existing Oracle DB tables (from existing pl/sql toolkit and jsp/servlet based apps).
I have a requirement to develop a page where some users can see/update all fields and some users can only see/update specific fields. I may put these requirements in a database table (userid, table,field_name,access_type - None, Read,ReadWrite).
In the Edit Page Item screen has anyone used the Authorization, Conditional Display, and/or Read Only Display settings to accomplish this?

editable regions can't contain the head or body tag.
select the body tag in the quick tag selector (bottom left
margin of design
window)
then go to Modify-->templates-->add editable attribute
and add an onload attribute.
in the child page, use modify->Template parameters to add
the preload.
Or- use some other javascript preloader inside of an editable
region in the
head section.

Display page items based on Authorization Scheme...

I have a report form that shows all my columns, but I have two columns that I only want "Admin" and "Edit" from my authorization scheme to be able to edit; but I would like for "User" to view.
Currently I have "authorization" enabled for the two items, and set for "Edit". This works, except the "User" logins cannot view the items.
I thought of two possibilities, both I think I'd need help on though!:
1. Create a duplicate page item for these two items. One would show as "Text" only (cannot edit). The other would be "Text Field". The "Text Field" column would only be
accessible by "Edit" or "Admin".
The problem, though, is now "Edit" or "Admin" users will see both columns
2. Set up something in "Conditions" that would show as "text" for "User", and as "Text Field" for "Admin" or "Edit"?
I would have no clue how to do this...
Any thoughts?

You can create two items and in the Authorization Scheme you can set one as Users and second as Edit. Also You can do something using small JS. Create a variable P_USR_TYPE to hold the value of User group lets say 1 for Users and 2 for Edit. Then on the HTML header or footer of the region you can add a javascript call

Display region based on authorization scheme

I have a region on a page that is displayed based on the 'SFD' authorization scheme.
I log in as a user who matches the 'SFD' authorization scheme. This scheme queries a table called gnt_authorization to determine if the app user does indeed satisfy the condition, and I do.
But when I open the page, the region is not displayed.
Does anyone have any idea why?

I just took another existing account and updated its authorization in gillnet_tag_authorization so that it now says department SFD and startup_page 15. I committed the change. Then I logged in as this user and the region did not display.
But I wonder if I had to close the browser first before this takes effect because the authorization scheme is checked once per session and I had previously already logged in as that user before making the authorization change.

Authorization Scheme based on a group in LDAP?

I would like to write an Authorization Scheme that checks whether a user (authenticated via a Authentication scheme based on LDAP) is a member of a specific group in LDAP, for access control.
I can't seem to find documentation or an example of this. Would appreciate any tips or links to docs and examples....

Page Restriction - Authorization Scheme

I have an application 8736 this application as 3 tabs
TAB1: information TAB2: department   TAB3: Admin
TAB3 as a form in which SHOULD be only be view by users which authorisation rights. I have been trying to do this for sometimes now and it is not work. I have a table called users

sarah765           0
For the page in TAB3 if you have an access level of 2. You should be able to view this page and if not they you should get an error message saying "sorry you cant view this page".
In this case "john919" should be able to view the page in tab "Tab3" and "sarah765 " SHOULD NOT.

I have never try this before and I have being asking around and alot of people tell me this should check the admin_level in the USERS table using the current username of the person looking in to see if they have access to this page. SO far this is as fail me. Please help

If you only have one access level per user then try changing your authorization scheme code to

Data view web part to display the most frequently accessed pages based on the user that is logged in

I am working on a project in which I would like to display the top 5 most accessed pieces of content as links, based on the user that is logged in. Our MOSS 2007 implementation has subsites for all regions that we do business in, as an example North, South, East, and West. When a user visits the North region homepage, I would like a web part to display:
Hello, <username>, here is a listing of your most accessed content:
Link to One
Link to Two
Link to Three
Link to Four
Link to Five
So each user would get a customized list based on their content access. We are not using my sites, but these would not work as we want the list to display on the home page of the region site.
I am thinking that a data view may work here, but I am not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I need to know how we can hide items based on page item
ie i have 5 item in same page like weighed(radio button) yes / no if user select yes na it ll automatically enable remaining fields like weight,packing charges, courier charges and net total
and based on packing charges,courier charges, other charges the net charge ll be auto calculated.....

i have to align the items in single page(form)....
ie i have to arrange the regions in sequential manner
for example i have x , y , z , a , b , c , d ,l m regions
y and z in horizontal in first row
b and c in vertical in first column
x and a in vertical in second column
d in vertical in third column

I wonder.. APEX don't let give same names to items on the different pages. I thought - it's because of reason, that any item can be read from any place of application. But I have an item on the page, type is DATE. And on another page I try to read this item(DATE) - but field is blank..
Am I wrong, anf items can be reached only within page where it placed?

After LOG IN - I move to a page1 with two items, items with a DATA type. By default it fills with function ROUND('SYSDATE',MM) - first, and second is LAST_DAY... It's ok all is rendering normal. There is a button1, that leads me to another page2. There are a few SQL request, that include my items ( with DATA TYPE) as a condition. And they return no rows. It can't be.
But there is a special button2 on the page1 WITH MY ITEMS. I call it refresh. It's just a button2, and it hookes up to a simple branch proccess, that leads to the same page1 where it placed. And after pressing 'REFRESH' - I move to page2 (by pressing button1) and result of my request is right!
Why it happens, can somebody tell me???

Redirect user to a different Page based on number of Liquid output result

I want to redirect the user to a different page based on the number of results. I have some multi-account users and single account user in my secure zone. I want single account users to be sent to a different page, while multiple account user should be shown their accounts and they user can now click the account he/she wants to access. This is my code:

Hi Liam I have since been reviewing my query using the BC API Discovery which has been a good guide for me. But the result is just displaying the core customer's company, though the other company has a default email/email1 as the core customer.

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar

Error Copying pages based on a template

I get the following error while copying pages based on a template. The template also contains a top horizontal navigation bar (portlet), a footer (portlet) and one item (portal smart text - Current Page). I'm using Portal 9iAs Rel 2 on win2000.

If I delete all the portlets and items from the template I'm able to make copies of the page.
Has anyone else faced a similar problem? Please let me know if anyone has a solution.

We've seen this problem on pages imported from another site. Please report this problem to Oracle Tech Support.

Using Page Text Item in an Authorization Scheme

I will be having a text item is every page say, Px_RESP_ID (hidden and its value set in an earlier page), and want to use its value in an authorization scheme to verify if the user has an access to the page.
I'm using the following SQL in the authorization scheme -
Apex Version: Apex 3.2
Scheme Type: Exists SQL Query

For some reason this approach is not working. Any ideas to help me move forward will be greatly appreciated.

AFAIK an application item, or maybe a page 0 item, is the only way to do this (as those items effectively exist across all pages of an application). Unfortunately since authorization schemes are application-level, you can't really effectively reference page items at runtime since you aren't necessarily on that page.
The other option is an ugly one. Instead of creating one auth scheme (e.g.: "user_has_whatever_authority"), create one for every page (e.g.: "user_has_whatever_authority_1", "user_has_whatever_authority_2", etc.) and attach each auth scheme to each page by matching up the number in the name with the page. But this is a maintenance nightmare and terrible style IMHO, but it'll work. Your colleagues will hate you for it when you're gone though.

Maximum number of items on a page?

Does the number of items on a page have a maximum? (portal 904)
I want to place about 14,000 images (30-50k each) on a page, using WEBDAV.
An alternative would be placing the items on the filesystem of the midtier, but that way I would have no advantage of the webcache (or doesn't that matter?)

as far as i know the files are cached in webcache if you have them on the midtier file system. this is because you are accessing portal through the webdav port.
i think this would be the better option, although there are no limitations to store the files in the database by uploading them to a page.
