Accessing Webdynpro Java iview functionality for print from webdynpro code
I know.. you would love to post me with n different blogs and forums discussion about how to print from webdynpro java application.
But lets read before what i am looking for..
There is standard "Print" function available on webdynpro for java iview.. and layout and all its just fine for us. though we want to trigger this event from a screen button. as going to iview properties is very user friendly.
I was looking for some iview api which can help me.. We are on NW 7.01 SP6 at the moment. And this is for standard ESS applications.
Thanks a lot for your inputs.
Regards,
Sudhir
Hi
You can write Java program for printing. Call the java class from screen (button or Url). Also you can write the content to XMl file.open the xml file in action. so that u will get print preview and print option.

Question about file preparation for print from Photoshop
I need to figure out the best method for saving for print from Photoshop. Here are the things that are confusing me:
Problem: When I create a design in Photoshop, I'm left with a few options on how to save my document. I would like to know which of the following is the best method:
Method 1: create a pdf and embed the required fonts. This method worries me because I've read that certain fonts will not open on the recipients end due to restrictions set by the font maker. Is this something I should be concerned with or is embedding fonts the best route to take?
Method 2: Convert all type to shapes. This method seems like the safest but I've read problems associated with this route as well. One website commented that having too much text converted to shapes can cause extremely long print times. Is this true?
Another problem I've encountered with converting text to shapes is when I have a paragraph that has more than one text color...converting to shapes converts everything to just a single color. I would love to know a work around to this. Currently I have to create separate layers for the different text colors and try to manually align them...very time consuming. I know InDesign would be best for this type of thing, but Photoshop works just fine for me, asside from this one little thing).
Method 3: Flatten my entire design (text and all) at 300dpi. Will my text look crisp flattening at this resolution?
Thank you to anyone who can help clear this up for me. I read so much inconsistant information online that I don't know what to think anymore.Method 1: create a pdf and embed the required fonts. This method
worries me because I've read that certain fonts will not open on the
recipients end due to restrictions set by the font maker. Is this

Always embed fonts, but then again, Photoshop can't until you save a format that can like PDF. Some fonts do not allow you to do so. Outline the fonts or convert to shapes. Better yet, stop building text documents in Photoshop for print. It's generally a bad idea for many reasons like rejected jobs and lost money and time.
Method
2: Convert all type to shapes. This method seems like the safest but
I've read problems associated with this route as well. One website

Problems arise if you want someone to edit the files, but the same goes for a font that is missing. As far as the print slow down times - it depends upon the RIP and how complex the file is. Maybe or maybe not be an issue. After all, text in Photoshop is using a font as a vector shape layer and not a font in the traditional sense.
Another problem I've encountered
with converting text to shapes is when I have a paragraph that has more
than one text color...converting to shapes converts everything to just a

A paragraph? Please attend a school that teaches you the basics of design in graphics. It will do you a great service to get more studies under your belt. Photoshop text is for graphical art not type setting.
Method 3: Flatten my entire design (text and all)
at 300dpi. Will my text look crisp flattening at this resolution?
It depends upon the resolution of the output device. The higher the resolution of the output the worse your text will be. -

For our only internet access we have a 3G wireless modem. I have since purchased a WiFi printer and router to connect all the comptuters to in the house. The PCs have no problem with using both the 3G connection and the WiFi signal at the same time to print, however, the MacBook Pro will not connect to the 3G network and the router, it will drop the internet access from the modem and attempt to connect via WiFi (which has no internet access). Is there a solution that is available to remedy this? I attempted to create an adhoc printer network, however, the macbooks again will not print off of this, only the PCs. And I'm getting a bit frustrated overall with this.
The 3G wireless modem is on one of the PC's correct?
Why don't you pass the Internet through the Ethernet port to the router via Cat5 cable, then have that transmit a Wifi signal that everything else can use, then connect the printer to the router for print sharing?
You would have to turn off the wifi on the comptuer with the 3G modem as it's physically connected to the router and can't connect to the other machines as they are all connected to the router for sharing.
The Mac has the ability to pass, Internet Sharing in the System Preferences.
Do you have software for the Mac to run the 3G modem? -
Where can I reliably access Java SE 6 for use in CS4 in OS 10.8.5. Right now PS won't open without it ( I get a warning message saying to install Java SE 6 runtime. When I hit install, the result is no fle found.
Adobe has a dead download for related/similar archivel/vestigal plug-ins. Want a clean download to avoid malware.
Will it even work if I get a clean version. It should....I have CS4 running on another iMac with 10.8.5
If it won't work....what are the alternatives. I can't readily or meaningfully deinstall 10.8.5 and go back to 10.6.
All assistance appreciated.
Thanks.

I have installed a new HP printer-copier-scanner-fax machine on a new Dell laptop (Model: Inspiron 15R, with Windows 7). This HP product (Model: CQ521A) has the capability of printing from the web. But at the time of installation I have received the warning that this device is not compatible for use with Firefox 3.6.8. Perhaps this is because Firefox 3.6.8 was developed later than this product, but does Firefox have a solution?
Is your problem with the HP Smart Web Printing program, specifically?
''Compatibility with specific programs shouldn't be an issue unless unless the installer is trying to install something into a not-compatible program - like SWP installs an addon into Firefox, and IE.''
This page indicates SWP only supports IE 6, 7, &8 - http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/consumer/digital_photography/free/software/smart-web-printing.html - but I have seen in this forum that other Firefox users have been able to use SWP with Firefox 3.6.x versions, once they got a Firefox 3.6.x compatible version of SWP.
''Edit: I just downloaded the SmartWeb Printing application from here - http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/consumer/digital_photography/free/software/smart-web-printing.html?jumpid=ex_r602_go/swp - and opened it. I don't see any files within that package that add's support for Firefox. It looks like HP doesn't support Firefox any longer. Unless they have another download page that I didn't find.''
Or, see the HP Web Printing support forum for an answer.

Found a fix for printing from Mac and PC using Airport Express!
I hope this helps somebody else because it's taken me hours and hours of frustration to trip over this solution. I have a MacBook, Airport Express and a Windows XP PC. Internet worked fine but I could not print form the PC via airport. I tied all the various links from iFelix (thanks to him for what sure seems like a lot of work to help others) but they didn't work. Here's what did...
To setup a printer using the Bonjour Printer Wizard:
1. Download the Bonjour for Windows installation package from the
Apple site http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/bonjour/.
2. Install Bonjour for Windows by launching the BonjourSetup.exe file from the folder where place it was downloaded.
3. Start the Bonjour Printer Wizard either by clicking its icon on the desktop or by selecting Start -> Programs -> Bonjour -> Bonjour Printer Wizard.
4. Follow the installation steps until the Install Bonjour Printer screen appears.
5. In the Install Bonjour Printer screen, select Generic in the Manufacturer list and then Generic / Postscript in the Model list. This step is the same for any printer model you have.
6. Follow the rest of installation steps.
The key is the Generic and Generic/Postscript settings. I also set up the Parallels program on my Mac. These instructions come from their documentation. It's the only thing I've found that works. Hope it helps some of you!Printing from a Windows XP PC to a printer attached to an Airport Extreme Base Station or Airport Express

Sending a book for printing from a different computer
Hi everybody,
I'm an Aperture registered user and I live in Italy. At home, I actually have a quite slow internet connection. On the other hand, my office one is very fast but our lan does not accept a mac so I can't connect my macbook pro. Is it possible to "send" the book from a different computer? I mean, once Aperture have created the pdf-x, is it possible to carry the file from my macbook pro to my office pc and send it to Apple for printing?
Thank you!
PaoloBoot into Safemode and Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
If it is good order while in safe mode

Stapling functionality for printer
Hi,
Our client wants when we give a request to print the work order using transaction IW32 and select the printer from which the work order should get printed.The work order should get printed from the specified printer and after that the printed work order should get stapled.
The user doesn't want printer to staple the work order by going to the spool request generated for the work order and selecting additional option and then specifying staple option.
Request your valuable thoughts on the same.
Thank in advance for your time.

Prepare for print from web design
Hi
think yet again I've confused myself - ok not difficult!
I've prepared a logo for a clients website which is shown at the top as RGB
The client now wants to use it elsewhere and has asked for a 15cm * 12cm version for printing.
So I created a new document selected printingstyle and set the size to 15 * 12 and using the left arrow clicked on my original and draggedit into the new blank document.
Nothing is placed I still see the empty page.
What step have I missed
thanks
IanSelect all (RGB document)
copy
Edit >> Paste in Front (CMYK document)
Yo may need to do so me small tweak colors as going from RGB to CMYK some colors may be less saturated. -

Function for reading from serial port
Hi experts,
We are trying to read data from the serial port with the following function we got from internet.
The problem is when creating the object with the sentence CREATE OBJECT o_obj '"MSCOMMLib.MSComm.1"'.
This returns a sy-subrc = 2 and shows the exception NO_CREATE_OBJECT.
We already copied the file MSCOMM32.OCX in c:\windows\system32 and we successfuly registered it, with regsvr32.exe.
We tried it with Windows XP and Vista.
Anybody has any idea?
Thanks in advance

I want to read value form weigh bridge through COMM port. I have developed the FM and done the setting as mentioned in the below link
Read COMM port using ABAP w/o third party software
but while executing the FM independently I am able to get the value from the COMM port,but when I call the FM from a program I am not able to get the output value from the FM.I am calling the FM from the report program.please find the code below.
report test.
data : lv_input TYPE c.
CALL FUNCTION 'ZFM_WEIGHINTERFACE'
EXPORTING
MODE = 0
COMMPORT = 1
SETTINGS = '1200,N,8,1'
OUTPUT = ''
IMPORTING
INPUT = lv_input
EXCEPTIONS
NO_CREATE_OBJECT = 1
OTHERS = 2
IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
* Implement suitable error handling here
ENDIF.
if I execute the FM independently the output is getting perfectly.but while calling from a program i am facing the issue..
any suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks
Vivek
