Account Administrator

So I don't know how, but my parents managed to set their sole account to standard and now there is no administrator on the computer. This is particularly troublesome when trying to install software updates or when preforming any other action that requires an administrator name and password. What's more is the account preferences is locked, require an administrator's name and password to unlock and make changes. How can the account be reverted to administrator? Thanks.

    Hi guys,
For some reason there is no "Free" option for the Article Access in the folio as per documentation - please see below, only "Metered" and "Protected". What could be the problem?
    TIA,
    Gennady
Select the "Enable Article Preview" option to let users preview any retail folio that includes articles marked as "Free" (use the Folio Producer Editor to mark articles as Free).

  • Changing Account Administrator

I am trying to change the Account Administrator for my sons MacBook so I can set parental controls. However, I am having a problem doing so. I do know the password because I set the account up awhile back. But now that he is getting older I have found cookies in his computer that i am not happy with. So how would I go about changing the Administrator Account.

I am having a problem doing so.
And what exactly is that problem?  You haven't described it.

I also tried using your 12/17/09 post #106290... "Enabling and using the "root" user in Mac OS X
In the section..."How to disable the root user Mac OS X 10.6" (below) I found no Edit button on the bottom-right of the Accounts/Login Options.
Also my Directory Utility app repeatedly quit upon opening. Will there be a problem if I can't disable the Root User?
    Don
From the Apple menu choose System Preferences....
From the View menu choose Accounts.
Click on the lock and authenticate with an administrator account.
    Click Login Options....
Click the "Edit..." button at the bottom right
Click the "Open Directory Utility..." button.
Click the lock in the Directory Utility window.
Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK.
Choose Disable Root User from the Edit menu.

    Hi,
You need the administrator permission to enable the built-in administrator account.
For secure concern, there is no other way to do this.

  • Accounts administration button is inactive - DPS dashboard

In my DPS dashboard I am seeing the accounts administration button is inactive. I Have Purchased CCT. How can I make the accounts administration button get activated?

The Accounts Administration button is available only for Professional or Enterprise customers. With CCT (Creative Cloud for Team), you can build only Single Edition apps for the iPad.

I only have one iTunes account.  The other day I made the mistake of downloading purchased songs and movies logged on another user account (Administrator) on the same computer.  How do I consolidate all my purchases in my preferred user account?

copy the songs that you downloaded as admin and put it somewhere you can access it from you're preferred account (usb stick / cd / shared folder / external hard drive) log into with you preferred user account and drag and drop the files on top of the itunes icon and they will be imported.
if you have a second computer you could use home sharing to move the music from admin itunes to the second computer and from the second computer to the preferred itununes
ps you can only connect 5 computers to you're itunes account so don't forget to de-autorise when you no-longer wand it.

  • Change Account Administrator to a organization account

Is it possible to switch Account Administrator from a Microsoft account to an organization account?

    Hi Henrik,
The answer is it might be changed or It might not be changed because it completely depends on ones account details and some stuff which I am not really sure of.  Billing team should be able to assist you on that
and so I recommend you to raise a Free billing support ticket via
http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/support/options/ select Get support and the support type as Billing.
    Hope this helps.

  • A mess with account, administrator PW,  permissions and privileges!

I don't know where to start. I've tried a number of the suggestions in the other posts below, but just can't get into my HD1. I inadvertently deleted some folders from Library (but did put them back). I thought they were doubles.
I re-booted from my Snow Leopard install DVD (hold down C). I have tried a number of times to choose a new password. But, each time I can Log-in, but notice that I can't get into my Administration PW. Now, which one do I use? The one when I installed Leopard 2~3 years ago? (That one I forgot). Or one of the few that I just created?
Anyway, I live just outside of Tokyo, Japan and called the Apple Store in Tokyo (got an English speaker) and he directed me through the steps. But, he said to choose System Administration (root) which I did. Later I realized that shouldn't have been done from the article that he had sent me. I followed his steps, could log in and then noticed that I could use Mail (if I filled in my Mail PW etc.) but my clock couldn't be authenticated as I tried to set the time. It's on L.A. time. (but in Tokyo).
So, next that didn't work and he e-mailed me the Apple site Help articles on re-setting the accounts. I tried a few more times and still couldn't access to authenticate. So, I re-installed my Snow Leopard disk. 10.6...
I went to the Apple Support site and downloaded the Snow Leopard up-dates.... I've tried to install the up-dates of Snow Leopard 10.6.6 and that couldn't be authenticated either and it said I need 10.6.5 tried that and the same thing all the way down to 10.6.2 and still none of them could be installed either. Now, iTunes can't be accessed. and I just tried to install the newest Skype and that also can't be installed. (all on HD1 in applications) and my printer also... I can get online with Safari and Firefox O.K.
I also tried to use Disk Utility and verify disk/repair disk but get, "insufficient privileges"! and can not verify permissions. The time set can't be done. I click on the Lock it shows "authenticate" for a second and stays locked...
The Snow Leopard up-date 10.6.6 shows this....
Even though SL 10.6.6 is installed, it keeps going back to Mac OS X (10.6.1) below....
I wanted to post a screen shot here, but don't know how....it couldn't be copied.
    PLease...let me know...thank you
What can I do from here? Anyone out there able to help me! thanks. I am NOT a computer wiz and not really into any type of "Terminal" lingo to understand what I'd do.

ok, that's not normal then. then you are right and some permissions are seriously messed up. before we proceed a couple of questions. are you logged in as the user Savannah when you are experiencing these problems? were you trying to change permissions on the Mail folder while logged in as Savannah or as some other user. you should do it while logged in as Savannah. other users shouldn't have permissions to the Mail folder of user Savannah.
if you are doing this while logged in as Savannah I suggest resetting permissions and ACLs on Savannah's whole home directory. this is much easier if that user is admin so give it admin rights temporarily in system preferences->accounts. you can remove admin rights from that user later, once we fix everything. after you've made that user admin log in as Savannah and run the following terminal commands (copy and paste please)
    sudo chflags -R 0 ~
you'll have to enter the password of user savannah after that command. it will not be echoed on the screen. that's normal.
    Next enter
    sudo chown -R `id -un`:`id -gn` ~
    and then
    chmod -RN ~
next, boot from the leopard install DVD and reset ACLs on Savannah's home directory as described here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1334?viewlocale=en_US
after that log in as savannah again and run
    sudo chgrp -R `id -gn` ~
then try using Mail again. it should hopefully work now.

  • Switching from OS 9.2.2 to Tiger - account administrator?

Sorry to ask dumb question. I am about to switch from OS 9.2.2 to Tiger. In preparation for the big move I have been spending a lot of time here reading through the troubles others have had. I see many threads on these forums about working with account administrators and passwords when"upgrading to OS 10.4." Does 9.2.2 have account administrators and passwords? How do I find out what these are so I can update them after the switch?
On another matter, how do I find my keychain password on 9.2.2. Does it matter at all since I am switching to Tiger?

    Sorry to ask dumb question.
    There are no dumb questions.
I am about to switch from
OS 9.2.2 to Tiger. In preparation for the big move I
have been spending a lot of time here reading through
the troubles others have had. I see many threads on
these forums about working with account
administrators and passwords when "upgrading to OS
10.4." Does 9.2.2 have account administrators and
    passwords?
Not really. The owner of the machine can do anything.
Individual users may have passwords used by particular
programs (e.g., to get their email, etc.).
How do I find out what these are so I can
    update them after the switch?
You will be asked all of the questions the first time
you run Mac OS X on the computer. The only real thing
to remember is that you will be asked to set up the first
account, and the name you choose for that account will
be the administrator. You can add additional administrator
users later, and other non-administrator users, and you can
also add "short names" for users. So, my suggestion would
be to choose a name for the first user such as
"Administrator" or "admin", but not something like "George
    W. Bush, Jr." - you will regret the spaces, periods, commas,
etc., later, and you won't be able to easily change that
    stuff.
On another matter, how do I find my keychain
password on 9.2.2. Does it matter at all since I am
    switching to Tiger?
    Don't have one, doesn't matter.
Good luck. Your head will spin with all of the new stuff
    you will be learning.

  • Best practices for account administration in ad agencies

What's the best method for Ad Agencies to set up and manage accounts (email addressees) and assign roles when planning to publish multiple folio apps for multiple clients?
We must of read this page over a dozen times: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS9293e1fb3b977c5c-6c5b4101331de1fd6a-80 00.html, but we're unsure of our adaptations to it.  And from an IT perspective this can quickly turn into a nightmare if not properly thought out.  Any direction and insight is welcome.
Here's just one example of how we envision the roles playing out when a team of designers, admins, and project managers publish one or more single and/or multi-folio apps:
    Application accounts:
    - [email protected],
    - [email protected],
    - [email protected],
    DPS App Builder account:
    - [email protected],
    or...
    - [email protected]
    Administrator account:
    - [email protected],
    or...
    - [email protected]
    Delegate account with no role:
    - [email protected]

Thanks! Your feedback is really helpful.   One thing I'm still throwing around is the naming convention for the Adobe IDs.
The examples shown make sense for a publication, are very simple and topic focused. Example: [email protected], [email protected]
However, what we're trying to maintain is the following: Example: [email protected]
    dps = dps project
    client01 = client name
    winter = topic
    jobnumber = location of files
Are we overthinking the naming structure?  We see asset management as an issue.  I should point out too, that we have CS5/Professional Subscription and do plan on upgrading to Enterprise in the future and would like to set up a system now that works for both and will provide a close to seamless transition.  (a lot of ANDS in that sentence, our we crazy or just too demanding or both?)

  • Why I can't add a new user in my DPS Account Administration panel.

I get this message: The email address you entered could not be added as a Digital Publishing user to this account. Please choose a different Adobe ID or create a new Adobe ID for the user.
I don't know what to do. Need to create new APP accounts. Please help.

I do thise every two months: I create a new account, next  I create the app. Then I use that account on DPS, but this time, supposing that the order does not care, I create the new account and then I used in DPS and finally when I tried to create the app, I get this message: The email address you entered could not be added as a Digital Publishing user to this account. Please choose a different Adobe ID or create a new Adobe ID for the user.
if I gues, I make it bad. But how do I resolve this? Using the DPS administration tool I need to add a new user for my application but now I can't.  really need this done.  Please help.

  • HT201240 resetting original account administrator password

I really need help. I've somehow managed to lock myself out of my own computer and cannot remember which password I used for the administrator login? How do I reset this? I've tried going to the recovery drive and it will not open and shows a lock after pressing command +r during startup. Also I've noticed there is no chime when starting up. HELP PLEASE

If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.
*Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.

  • I can't add a new user in my Account Administration Panel, why?

I have been  using DPS Professional for a while, but now I'm in troubles with it. I was able to create new users and then create applications assigned with the user I added before, but now I just can't do it anymore.
Even if it's a new Adobe ID, the problem stills. I have deleted current users and then I tried to add them again and no problem occurred.
I do not know what to do, please help.

See http://status.adobedps.com/?p=840 for an update on this issue and for a workaround that will enable you to complete the process of adding a new user.
