Acrobat 9.3.4 issue: Creating single PDF from Multiple PDFs

My setup:
• Mac OS 10.6.4 / Mac Pro dual / 6GB RAM
• Adobe CS5 Master Collection
• Acrobat Pro 9.3.4
Just ran into issue (critical) I have not encountered before, but it is frighteningly reminiscent of the InDesign CS5 problem of the "Document fonts" folder issues and Small Caps/All Caps. Here's the scenario:
1. In an IDCS5 document I've used the "All Caps" command to give a heading that characteristic (font used is Avenir 95 Black; type 1).
2. Export to PDF (Print), and receive a correct PDF, with the All Caps designation showing/printing correctly.
3. Open it in both Acrobat 9.3.4 and Adobe Reader 9.3.4, and the file is correct (see attachment 1, below).
4. I then make several other single-page PDFs and save them all to a new folder.
After creating these single-page PDFs for client review, the client has requested that a random number of these PDFs be compiled into a single PDF, which is no problem--it's a common request which we do all the time. The steps for this are:
1. Launch Acrobat Pro 9.3.4
2. Choose File>Create PDF>Merge Files into a Single PDF; dialogue box pops up.
3. Click the "Add Files" button in the upper left corner of dialogue box (Single PDF button is selected in top right corner of box).
4. Navigation window pops up, allowing me to choose the folder created in step 4, above, which contains the PDFs I need.
5. Highlight the desired PDFs, and arrange them in the desired order; click on the "Combine Files" button in the lower right corner of dialogue box. 6. PDFs are generated, and I save the resulting PDF; I then open it in either Adobe Reader 9.3.4 or Acrobat Pro 9.3.4 to verify all went well, and to my disappointment, notice the incorrect interpretation of the "All Caps" line of type (see attachment 2, below).
I have verified that a PDF file exported through IDCS5 works correctly, and making the 'combined' PDF by making a new IDCS5 document and adding the necessary pages and exporting a single PDF works correctly, as well. The problem is that the "Combine..." feature in Acrobat Pro is our workflow, because it allows for single PDFs to be combined into one WITHOUT having to set up a new IDCS5 document specifically for the final PDF; to do so would require countless numbers of IDCS5 files in order to get the randomly chosen pages into one PDF.
Has anyone else encountered this problem, and if I overlooked a similar post, my apologies. Thanks in advance...

The issue is related to font embeddings. If all of the pdfs had contained the entire font set rather than font subsets this would not be an issue. The way to tackle the problem is to use the PDF optimizer to remove ALL font embeddings. Then use the Preflight to to re-embed the fonts.

    I'm wondering if there's an easier way to do what I'm doing....
    I had someone digitize a bunch of tapes for me but they had the "on timecode break, make new clip" on, in the preferences, so now I have about 100 clips per tape. What I want to do is make each tape a single clip for easier logging.
    What I've been doing is that I grab all the clips on a particular tape, drag them to the timeline, mark in and out at heads/tails and export it as a reference (not self-contained). Then I reimport that file back in and it all works out great. Only that each tape takes about 20 minutes to do this. Is there a faster way to get the same result?

    Once the clips are loaded into a sequence, Name the sequence Tape_001 (or whatever) and simply log from that timeline.
    The individual clips will retain their timecode, you can mark the in/out for each clip, you can mark 'good take' on the individual clip and do all manner of wonderful file management that is difficult with only one long clip.

    How do I add a functional "submit button" to a pdf form in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI ? I created the pdf form in Adobe Forms Central. It's for an online Diet Questionnaire. After people complete the form I'd like them to click "SUBMIT" and the completed form will be emailed to me.

    This can be a bit confusing because Acrobat 11 comes with the desktop app that allows you to create simple PDF forms without having a FormsCentral account. Some people find this helpful, but you need to understand that when you generate the PDF form, it is Reader-enabled by Acrobat. In order to edit the form further in Acrobat, you have to create a non-enabled copy of the form. You do this in Acrobat by opening the form and selecting: File > Save a Copy
    and opening the copy. It is not opened automatically.
    You can now add a button and set it up to submit by email, either using a "Submit a form" action or the submitForm JavaScript method. You can set it up to include just the form data or the entire PDF, and will want to use a mailto type URL. Submitting the form to the FormsCentral server has a number of important advantages over email (much more reliable, more secure, etc.), so you might want to consider it.
    If the form needs to be saved with Reader versions prior to 11, then you will need to Reader-enable the document. In Acrobat 11 you do this by selecting: File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools

I have a client application which will prepare number of source files and some meta data information (in .XML) which will be used in header/footer. Is it possible to put a run time generated DDX file in the watch folder and use it in Process. If possible how can I pass the file names in the DDX. Any sample Process will be very helpful.

    OBIEE can join multiple data sources to make a single data model, but it's not a cube in the multi-dimensional sense like Essbase or Oracle OLAP.
    To be able to join datasources together they need to have a common dimension or FK relationship depending on what the source is and what you want to do with it.

  • Using ME57 to create an RFQ from multiple lines on multiple PRs

    When using ME57 to create RFQs how can I select multiple line items from multiple purchase requisitions to turn into a single RFQ. If I select multiple lines and then use 'RFQ with Vendor', it only selects one line item.  After further research it appears that you can only create only line at a time (very time consuming). 
    If you use ME41 and create with reference to PR then you can not sort or filter columns to allow for easy consolidation.
    Another forum recommended the following when using ME57 which works but it again adds extra steps to the process.
         The whole process is as follows -
         1) When you are in the 'Assign and Process Purchase Requisition' screen, select related PR and then click on 'Without Vendor' icon to flag all PRs for RFQ processing.
         2) Select these PRs again and click further on 'Assignment Overview' icon (Shift and F5). The next screen will appear - Assign and Process requisitions - Overview of Assignments screen.
         3) Select the 'PReq' column and then click further on 'Process Assignment' icon (F2). The next screen will appear where you have to maintain the 'quotation deadline' information.
         4) Then click on 'Continue' icon (enter).

    So is there any way to either 1) enable sorting of data in ME41 or 2) use ME57 to create one RFQ from multiple line items of multiple purchase requisitions when selecting 'RFQ with Vendor'.

    To have single delivery from multiple Sales Orders you have 2 waysto do it.
    The prerequisites are,
    A. All sales orders should have same ship to Party
    B. Delivery due dates should be same.
    C. Incoterms should also be same.
    D. Shipping Point should be same.
    Once this is ensured, you can either
    1. Go to Tr. Code VL10A and execute the delivery document creation for the list of sales orders
    Or,
    2. Go to VL01N. Give 1st order no. enter into the overview screen
    Here, go to main menu, Outbound Delivery ---> Collective Processing- Del. Creation
    This will also take u to the same VL10A screen.

    Hi Ahmed,
    There are two options.
    1. For creating Sales Order with ref to too many Quotations:
    Go to T. Code VA26 and enter the Doc Date or Quotation Valid to Date and Sold to party, Quotation Type to get all the outstanding Quotations for that particular Sold to Party. Then Select the required quotations and then select Follow-up actions button to create Single Sales Order.
    2. For less number of Quotations:
    You can simply go by referring each quotation by placing the cursor in alternate line item in sales order by selecting "Create with ref" button.

    Do I need multicam in order to create a movie from multiple cameras? The old fashioned way is just to simply put multiple video clips into multiple video tracks in Final Cut, right? Then I can transition the tracks as I see fit.
    Multicam in Final Cut Pro simply improves upon this by hard synching timecodes right?
    As an amateur, do I really need multicam features in Final Cut Pro in order to make a movie from multiple camera angles?

    likely. Multicam is an advanced feature of FCP. It
    requires knowing how most of the application's basic
    operations are performed.
    I have to disagree with bog in that multicam is all about efficiency and being able to quickly set-up and edit what could normally take a lot longer. But he is totally correct in that it is a strange set-up with some strange behaviors so if you don't know what you're doing and plan accordingly it could take a lot longer and be a lot more frustrating than the 'old fashioned' way.
    I think it's also important to note that multi-cam is way more than just the "real time" switching of the multiclip in the viewer as it plays back. If you can take time to learn the ins and outs of multi-cam then you can use some features on some jobs and other features at other times. An amateur can do anything that the FCP software because it's there in front of you so play play play!

    assuming that your settings in VTFA and VTFL allow, you can create 1 invoice for many sales orders or deliveries by using VF04.  choose all documents that apply and click "collective billing document". 
    you can also click on "simulation" if you want to test if the combination is possible and the system will give you a split analysis if this is not possible.

  • Having issues Creating a PDF from an Excel file

    When creating PDFs from an Excel file using the Adobe PDF printer, I sometimes run into an issue where the PDF ends up shrinking what's on the document and distorting the image. I have examined all Print Settings and can't find a difference between any of the margin settings, paper size, etc. Once I go to print to Adobe PDF, it just changes the way the whole document looks and is spaced.
    To work around the issue, I use Microsoft's built in Save As PDF feature, but that's only works some of the time. I would like to use the Acrobat software so that I can also edit the document immediately without having to re-open it.

    Be sure Adobe PDF is selected as the printer in the print menu. Then do a print preview. It it looks wrong then, it is likely an Excel format issue.
