Action or script to move selection to specified layer?

Hi all,
i have a piece of art on "Layer 1" that i need to shrink and duplicate to "Layer 2". I do this many many times a day so i was hoping someone could help me with a script? The two layers are always named the same. I'm working in CS5.
Thanks a lot!

Hello CarlosCanto,
one question:
why you use the move-methode instead:
for (i=0; i<selen; i++) {
    var pgItem = sel[i].duplicate(ilayer, ElementPlacement.PLACEATEND);
    pgItem.resize (scale, scale, true, true, true, true, scale, Transformation.CENTER)
What advantages or disadvantages are there?

  • Script for renaming selected shape layer items

    Does anyone know if such a script exists?
    That is to say, a script that renames the selected sub-items of a shape layer (paths, groups, shape generators etc).
    Am aware there's already scripts to rename selected layers and layer masks. Have attempted to rewrite these to deal with shape layer items, but to no avail.
    Many thanks

    I was able to rename them using these:
    "Path 1"
    app.project.item(1).layer("Shape Layer 1").property("ADBE Root Vectors Group").property("ADBE Vector Group").property("ADBE Vectors Group").property("ADBE Vector Shape - Group").name = "MY NEW PATH NAME";
    "Shape 1"
    app.project.item(1).layer("Shape Layer 1").property("ADBE Root Vectors Group").property("ADBE Vector Group").property("ADBE Vectors Group").property("ADBE Vector Graphic - Stroke").name = "MY SHAPE NAME";
    "Fill 1"
    app.project.item(1).layer("Shape Layer 1").property("ADBE Root Vectors Group").property("ADBE Vector Group").property("ADBE Vectors Group").property("ADBE Vector Graphic - Fill").name = "MY FILL NAME";
    "Group 1"
    app.project.item(1).layer("Shape Layer 1").property("ADBE Root Vectors Group").property("ADBE Vector Group").property("ADBE Vectors Group").property("ADBE Vector Group").name = "MY GROUP 1 NAME";

    I need to create an action or script to save the file with the name of the selected layer (not including the hidden layers, but including those visible).

    THX in advance

    Versione in Italiano (Further down the English version)
    NB - Nella versione inglese ho messo tutte le immagini dei menu in italiano.
    Versione per Mac, ma credo sia identico per Windows.
    Spiego passo passo cosa ho fatto:
    - Ho creato un file esempio con tre Livelli, salvato sulla scrivania e ho chiuso il file.
    - Ho aperto il file e selezionato il Livello al centro per iniziare a registrare una azione che ho chiamato: Save with Name of Selected Layer
    - Nuova azione
    - Dare il nome e premere Registra
    Ora salva…
    - Menu --> Livello --> Nuovo --> Livello... e premi -ok-, (lascia il nome che viene mostrato)
    - Ancora una volta Menu --> Livello... --> Nuovo --> Livello... e premi -ok-, (lascia il nome che viene mostrato)
    - Menu --> Livello --> Ordina --> Dietro
    - Menu --> Livello --> Unisci sotto
    - Menu --> Livello --> Unisci visibili
    - Menu --> Livello --> Nuovo --> Livello... e premi -ok-, (lascia il nome che viene mostrato)
    - Menu --> Livello - Nascondi Livello
    - Menu --> Elimina --> Elimina livelli nascosti (press -Yes-)
    - Menu --> Livello --> Nuovo --> Livello... Inserisci questo: 'Move this to the trash' e premi ok
    - Menu --> File --> Script --> Esporta Livelli in File... (Nella finestra che si apre scegliere l’opzione che si desidera, ma togliere il prefisso del nome) e premere -Esegui-
    - Selezionare il pannello Storia cliccare su Elimina premendo -Si- ogni volta che si apre la finestra di dialogo (Ripetere 8 volte questa operazione sino ad arrivare nella storia alla condizione di partenza. Ho visto che è meglio di Ripristina -F12-)
    - Fermare la registrazione.
    A questo punto, mandando in esecuzione questa Azione, ho raggiunto parzialmente l’obiettivo perché i file così creati mantengono, purtroppo, dei prefissi numerici per evitare probabilmente la sovrascrizione di file (credo senza avviso) nel posto dove vengono creati.
    Per ottenere l’obiettivo occorre un nuovo passo ed a proposito di questo riferisco quanto segue:
    ATTENZIONE - L’operazione descritta qui di seguito deve essere fatta su di una copia del file, per cui:
    - Duplicare il file,
    - Spostare l’originale in altra cartella
    - Lavorare sul file duplicato.
    mi riferisco a questo...
    ATTENZIONE - Questa modifica è effettuata a proprio rischio e pericolo ed il sottoscritto non si assume alcuna responsabilità su quanto venga fatto soprattutto da mani inesperte.
    ATTENZIONE - Questa modifica sovrascrive qualsiasi file che abbia nome uguale al layer che viene selezionato più l’estensione del file naturalmente.
    Comunque la modifica è banalissima e a portata di chiunque.
    Procedere così:
    - Chiudere Photoshop
    - Aprire (nel percorso specificato dall’immagine) il file “Export Layers to Files.jsx” (Export Layers To Files.jsx 1.0.0.16) con un editor di testo puro.
    - cercare la stringa (dovrebbe essere in riga 1029)
    var fileNameBody = fileNamePrefix;
    fileNameBody += "_" + zeroSuppress(i, 4);
    fileNameBody += "_" + layerName;
    - sostituirla con:
    var fileNameBody = fileNamePrefix;
    fileNameBody += layerName;
    - cercare la stringa (dovrebbe essere in riga 1047-46)
    var fileNameBody = fileNamePrefix;
    fileNameBody += "_" + zeroSuppress(i, 4) + "s";
    - sostituirla con:
    var fileNameBody = fileNamePrefix;
    fileNameBody += "";
    - salvare e uscire.
    - riavviare Photoshop
    - provare l’azione registrata facendo attenzione che il nome del layer non sia identico al nome di un file già presente altrimenti questo verrà sovrascritto.
    Domanda:
    Perché ho creato livelli che poi ho eliminato ecc.
    Risposta:
    Semplice per evitare errori di esecuzione delle azioni nel caso di operazioni con livelli mancanti o altro.
    Semplice... no?
    English version
    Mac version, but I think it's the same for Windows.
    First of all, I'm translating the actions that I made using the Italian version of Photoshop, you look at the position of the menu that I have chosen to do the work with other languages.
    I explain step by step what I did:
    - I created a sample file with three layers, saved to the desktop and I closed the file.
    - I opened the file and select the layer at the center to start recording an action that I called: Save with Name of the Selected Layer
    - New action
    - Give the name and press Save ( I think it is so in English )
    Now save ...
    - Menu -> Layer - > New —> Layer… and press -ok- , (leave the name that is shown)
    - Once again Menu -> Layer - > New —> Layer… and press -ok- , (leave the name that is shown)
    - Menu -> Layer - > Arrange (order) -> Behind
    - Menu -> Layer - > Merge Down
    - Menu -> Layer - > Merge Visible
    - Menu -> Layer - > New —> Layer… and press -ok- , (leave the name that is shown)
    - Menu -> Layer - Hide Layer
    - Menu - > Delete - > Delete hidden layers (press -Yes- )
    - Menu -> Layer - > New —> Layer… Enter this: ' Move this to the trash ' and press ok
    - Menu -> File - > Scripts -> Export Layers To Files... (In the window that opens select the option you want, but take away the name prefix) and press - Run -
    - Select the History panel and click Delete (on menu opened) pressing -Yes- every time when open the dialog box (8 times Repeat this step until you get into the story to the starting condition. Not use Restore -F12-).
    - Stop recording.
    At this point, by executing this action, I have reached the goal partly because the files created in this way remain, unfortunately, the numerical prefixes to avoid possibly overwriting of files (I think without notice) in the place where they are created.
    To achieve the goal we need a new step and thinking about this as follows:
    WARNING - The operation described below should be made on a copy of the file, so :
    - Duplicate the file
    - Move the original folder to another
    - Work on the duplicate file.
    WARNING - This modification is performed at your own risk and the undersigned assumes no responsibility on what is done mostly by inexperienced hands.
    WARNING - This change will overwrite any files with the same name as the selected layer plus the file extension of course.
    However, the change is trivial and within reach of anyone.
    Proceed as follows:
    - Close Photoshop
    - Open (in the specified path from the image ) file " Export Layers to Files.jsx " (Export Layers To Files.jsx 1.0.0.16) with a pure text editor.
    - Search for the string (should be in line 1029 )
    var = fileNameBody fileNamePrefix ;
    fileNameBody = + "_" + zeroSuppress (i, 4 ) ;
    fileNameBody + = "_ " + layerName ;
    - Replace it with :
    var = fileNameBody fileNamePrefix ;
    fileNameBody + = layerName ;
    - Search for the string (should be in line 1047-46 )
    var = fileNameBody fileNamePrefix ;
    fileNameBody + = "_ " + zeroSuppress (i, 4) + "s" ;
    - Replace it with :
    var = fileNameBody fileNamePrefix ;
    fileNameBody + = "";
    - Save and exit.
    - Restart Photoshop
    - Try the recorded Action, making sure that the layer name is not identical to the name of an existing file otherwise it will be overwritten.
    Question:
    Why I created levels which I then deleted etc..
    Answer:
    Simple to avoid errors of execution of the actions in the case of transactions with missing levels and other.
    Simple ... is not it?
    Sorry for my bad English...
    Thanks in advance for any hint.

  • Retrieve alert values for use as parameter in corrective action sql script

    I am trying to write a corrective action sql script to kill a session that is blocking other sessions. I have the "blocking session count" metric set and the alert is firing correctly.
    Is there any way to retrieve the sid and serial number from the alert generated and use it in a corrective action sql script?
    Here is the alert generated:
    Target Name=myproddb.world
    Target Type=Database Instance
    Host=myprodserver
    Metric=Blocking Session Count
    Blocking Session ID=SID: 522 Serial#: 5228
    Timestamp=Mar 4, 2008 5:57:12 PM EST
    Severity=Warning
    Message=Session 522 is blocking 1 other sessions
    Notification Rule Name=Testing Corrective actions
    Notification Rule Owner=sysman
    Clearly the sid, and serial # is contained within the alert Message field
    what I want to write for the sql script is :
    alter system kill session '%sid%,%serial_no%' immediate;
    and have GC pass in the sid and serial_no to the script.
    The "Target Properties" listed on the right of the Edit Corrective Action screen lists minimal details pertaining to the alert and certainly not the session sid, serial no.
    Generically, is there any way to retrieve the values from an alert and use them in a corrective action script or job?
    I've looked into getting the values from the mgmt$alert_history table, but I'm hoping that GC can pass the values to the sql script.
    thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi
    You can implementing a procedure like this.
    1. When a block session count alarms occurs, there is a column in the v$lock that you can examine.
    #!/bin/ksh
    #kill_block_session.sh
    #first export your variables
    export ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/product/10.2.0.3
    export ORACLE_SID=SIDNAME
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus "/ as sysdba" << EOF
    execute immediate killed_blocks;
    EOF
    # end
    The killed_blocks is a procedure:
    create procedure
    declare
    v_sid varchar2(15);
    v_serial varchar2(15);
    -- now a sql query that retrieve the sid and serial
    -- you can obtain these values from v$session and v$lock
    select vs.sid,vs.serial into v_sid,v_serial
    from v$session vs,v$lock vl
    where vs.sid=vl.sid
    and vl.block >0
    -- After this, you execute a dbms_put line with these
    -- values
    But you understant that this response action is very dangerous, because its possible that you kill sessions that the blocking are transitient.
    You must examine your enviroment and your application and establish the metric like UDM and not for only session blocking count.
    You must to see:
    - The type of block
    - The ctime time in the v$lock for to understatn the amount of time to determine that the block is need killed.
    - In my opinion you need a special UDM and deactivate the blocking sesion count
    If you want help to create this UDM send me a mail to [email protected]
    Regards
    Robert

  • Help creating a script to move users in and out of an OU based on a time limit

    Here's my scenario: we currently have OUs based on the locations of our facilities, we also have a sub-OU(?) underneath it for users that need a group policy applied to them where whitelist applications allowed to run. From time to time we have need to pull
    users out of that sub-OU for a short period of time to let them run applications they normally wouldn't be able to and won't need to run long term. Sometimes we also forget to add these people back into that policy controlled sub-OU because we get busy do
    other things. Server is 2008 R2.
    Here's what I'm looking for: A script that prompts for the users name, pulls that user out of the sub-OU, puts them in the main OU but only for 24 hours. After that time limit is up, a script/command runs that puts the user back in the policy controlled
    sub-OU. I'm thinking a PS script would be the best way to do this.
    Research: Looking at these posts here and here I'm
    thinking I should be able to Frankenstein something together but I have very limited PS scripting experience.
    Can anyone help me create this?

    You've probably figured this out, but we're not typically in the business of writing complete solutions for people. With that said, there are projects I find particularly interesting, such as this one, where I am willing to help get someone started if they
    are willing to take the time to work through the examples and learn from them.
    You have two requests - one is a script that prompts for a user it then moves to a different  location in Active Directory. The second request is a way to move them back without manual interaction. This will require an automated task (scheduled task)
    that will run at select times during a day.
    Here's the first script (1/2): The first two lines set two different variables. The first line sets the $OUPath variable to the SubOU. The second line prompts for a user and, once a user is entered, sets that user to the $User variable. It then runs the
    first try-catch, attempting to replace the $User variable with the data returned from the Get-ADUser cmdlet. Notice the use of the -Properties parameter. By default the modified date and the extensionAttributes are not returned. We will be using the modified
    date so we can be certain that 24 hours passes before we move them back (see part 2/2). Including extensionAttribute13 will ensure we only move users out of the OU if they were moved in by the script. Note: The modified date on a user in AD is changed when
    it is moved from one OU to another. If the user cannot be located in the first try-catch it will say it cannot locate the user in Active Directory. If it can locate it, it will set the $User variable, as described so far, and then move on.
    In the second (or, nested) try-catch we split the user's DistingusihedName at the first comma so that we have two parts. We use the second part (that doesn't include their CN) and see if that matches the $OUPath variable. If it does match then that user
    has already been moved. If it doesn't match then we 1. Move the user, 2. Replace extensionAttribute13 with the string 'MovedUser,' and 3. Output that the user has been moved.
    $OUPath = 'OU=SubOU,OU=MainOU,DC=mydomain,DC=com'
    $User = Read-Host -Prompt 'Enter SamAccountName'
    try {
    $User = Get-ADUser -Identity $User -Properties Modified,extensionAttribute13
    try {
    If ($User.DistinguishedName.Split(',',2) -eq $OUPath) {
    Write-Output -Verbose 'User already moved.'
    } Else {
    Move-ADObject -Identity $User.DistinguishedName -TargetPath $OUPath
    Set-ADUser -Identity $User.SamAccountName -Replace @{extensionAttribute13='MovedUser'}
    Write-Output "'$($User.SamAccountName)' has been moved."
    catch {
    Write-Output "'$($User.SamAccountName)' cannot be moved."
    catch {
    Write-Output -Verbose "Unable to locate '$User' in Active Directory."
    The second script (2/2): Here we also set a couple variables - one is the SubOU's DistinguishedName where we want to return the user and the other is the all of the users from the MainOU. Foreach user in $Users we check if their extensionAttribute13 is set
    to 'MovedUser' and if their modified date is greater than or equal (-ge) to 24 hours. If it is, the script will move the user, clear extensionAttribute13, and let us know the user was moved. If for some reason your $OUPath variable is wrong, the script will
    run the catch portion of the only try-catch we used in this script. Again, you'll have to schedule Task Scheduler to run this script. Good luck!
    $OUPath = 'OU=MainOU,DC=mydomain,DC=com'
    $Users = Get-ADUser -Filter * -SearchBase $OUPath -Properties Modified,extensionAttribute13
    Foreach ($User in $Users) {
    $TimeSince = New-TimeSpan -Start $User.Modified -End (Get-Date)
    If ($User.extensionAttribute13 -eq 'MovedUser' -and $TimeSince.Hours -ge 24) {
    try {
    Move-ADObject -Identity $User.DistinguishedName -TargetPath $OUPath
    Set-ADUser -Identity $User.SamAccountName -Clear extensionAttribute13
    Write-Output "$($User.SamAccountName) has been moved."
    catch {
    Write-Output "$($User.SamAccountName) cannot be moved."
    } Else {
    Write-Output 'No Users to move.'
    If you decide to use this, be sure to change the paths you use for the $OUPath variables. Also, if you're using this with PowerShell 2.0, you will need to use the Import-Module cmdlet to import the ActiveDirectory module. In versions above 2.0 it will be
    imported automatically if you try to use an AD cmdlet.
    Edit: Typo - Get-ADUser property

  • Script to align selected objects to artboard

    Hello, I was wondering if anyone had a simple solution to aligning selected items to the artboard. I was going to create an action but then realized it would be more convenient for me to include it in my script file....I have a script to align objects with each other but they dont align to the artboard. Any suggestions?

    Hello volocitygraphics,
    here is a quick&dirty solution.
    Note that the result may be different, if clipping masks are exists in the document.
    Please test it at first on copies of your documents. Use it on your own risk.
    // ArtboardCenterAroundSelectedPaths.jsx
    // works with CS5
    // http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1336506?tstart=0
    // (title: script to align selected objects to artboard)
    // quick & dirty, all selected items will be centered at the active artboard
    // (include clipping paths  !visible result can be different)
    // regards pixxxelschubser  19.Nov. 2013
    var aDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var Sel = aDoc.selection;
    if (Sel.length >0 ) {
        var abIdx = aDoc.artboards.getActiveArtboardIndex();
        var actAbBds = aDoc.artboards[abIdx].artboardRect;
        var vBounds = Sel[0].visibleBounds;
        vBounds_Li = vBounds[0];
        vBounds_Ob = vBounds[1];
        vBounds_Re = vBounds[2];
        vBounds_Un = vBounds[3];
    if (Sel.length >1 ) {
        for (i=1; i<Sel.length ; i++) {
            vBdsI = Sel[i].visibleBounds;
            if( vBounds_Li > vBdsI[0] ) {vBounds_Li = vBdsI[0]};
            if( vBounds_Ob < vBdsI[1] ) {vBounds_Ob = vBdsI[1]};
            if( vBounds_Re < vBdsI[2] ) {vBounds_Re = vBdsI[2]};
            if( vBounds_Un > vBdsI[3] ) {vBounds_Un = vBdsI[3]};
        aDoc.artboards[abIdx].artboardRect = [vBounds_Li +((vBounds_Re - vBounds_Li)/2-(actAbBds[2]-actAbBds[0])/2), vBounds_Ob -((vBounds_Ob - vBounds_Un)/2+(actAbBds[3]-actAbBds[1])/2), vBounds_Li +((vBounds_Re - vBounds_Li)/2-(actAbBds[2]-actAbBds[0])/2)+(actAbBds[2]-actAbBds[0]), vBounds_Ob -((vBounds_Ob - vBounds_Un)/2+(actAbBds[3]-actAbBds[1])/2)+(actAbBds[3]-actAbBds[1])];

    I hope so, the document coordinatesystem is the same as in CS6+

  • Script to move files and compress

    Hi Guys,
    I am in need of a script that moves log files that are older than 14 days to a compressed folder. I would like to run this as a scheduled task that would run at the end of each week, and for the logs to go into the same compressed folder each week. Is this possible? And if so could anybody please help me? I have spent hours on this and I am really struggling as I dont have much knowlegde of scripting at all.
    Many thanks,
    Jack

    Ah my Friend we're in Powershell land for that, and very easy it is.
    The compressing part is easy and does not require Powershell as long as the destination File system is NTFS
    Make a folder called Archive (or whatever name suits you) and in Windows Explorer, go into the Properties of that folder, Choose the "Advanced Button" and select "Compress Contents to Save Disk Space" and hit apply.
    Now you should see that folder change color.  Anything going into there is a compressed file.  The great part is you can view it like normal, it just uses far less disk space.   A Zip file might take even less but this is very easy to work with.
    As far as accessing the log files older than 14 days, presuming the Folder is called C:\Logfiles and the filenames end with the extension .LOG
    ---------- Archive old Logfiles - Powershell Script -------------------
    $TODAY=GET-DATE
    GET-CHILDITEM C:\LOGFILES\*.LOG | Where { $_.LastWriteTime.AddDays(14) -lt $TODAY } | MOVE-ITEM C:\LOGFILES\Archive
    ---------- Archive old Logfiles - Powershell Script -------------------
    All this does is look at the directory of files with the extension .LOG and check the last time the file was modified.  Anything older than 14 days is Moved to the Archive folder.   If the "Compression" attribute is enabled, there's your archive process :)
    And of course if you don't have Powershell on the machine in question, it's a quick update from Windows to bring it in :)

  • How to name a layer with the file name - action or script???

    Hi all,
    Can anyone tell me if it is possible to automatically name a photoshop layer to be the name of the file itself?
    I have 600 files to do and need to automate the process.
    Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Marvo.

    Open ExtendScript Toolkit this can be found here:-
    PC: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Utilities
    MAC: <hard drive>/Applications/Utilities/Adobe Utilities
    Copy and paste the code into a new window and then save the code to:-
    PC: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS#\Presets\Scripts
    Mac:- [hard drive]/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS#/Presets/Scripts/
    If photoshop was open, close and re-start it so that Photoshop can pick up the new script.
    Now you can create an action to run the script and do your save so that this action can be batched.
    To add the script to your action:
    File - Scripts - select the script (this will add the new layer)

  • Script to move rectangle in rich symbol

    I am trying to write the script to move a rectangle (or path
    or bitmap) that is part of a rich symbol. The API docs say that
    .left and .top are not read-only, but they do not appear to be
    working. When setting .left on a rectangle, the value changes but
    the new value seems to have nothing to do with the value I
    specified. (The new value was some very small decimal.) Doing the
    same to a path or bitmap did not seem to have any effect at all.
    Has anyone had any success programatically moving (or
    resizing because I will want to do that next) a rectangle, path, or
    bitmap that is part of a rich symbol, i.e. with script in the
    applyCurrentValues() function? Thanks.

    You could try the dom methods for moving, like
    dom.moveSelectionTo() (I think that's what it's called). I've seen
    cases, especially in CS3, where changing the attributes doesn't
    work but calling the equivalent dom functions does.

  • Call actionscript file function from actions panel of a movie clip

    i have a movie clip with an actions layer
    can i call a function from an actionscript file from the actions panel?

    does that actionscript file specify a class or not?
    if not, then use:
    include "yourpath/yourfilename.as"
    on any timeline.
    any function in that as file will be added to the timeline that has the include statement and you reference that function with normal dot syntax from your calling timeline.

    Is it possible in Illustrator CS4 to record an action that selects a particular object in a layer called base & move the selected object into another layer called blue & lock the layer that the object was moved? Any suggestions are welcome

    An Action can record the assignment of a Note to a selected object.
    An Action can select an object by its Note.
    An Action can record the locking of a Layer if it is done in the Layer Options dialog, not by just clicking the Lock icon.
    The problem is recording a step that will switch you to another Layer. However, selecting an object makes its Layer the current Layer. So, you can, for example:
    Assume you have two Layers: Base and Blue.
    Assume there is an object on Layer Blue with a Note: "OnBlue".
    Assume there is a selected object on Layer Base that you want to move to Layer Blue.
    The Action would:
    1. Cut the selected object to the Clipboard.
    2. Lock the current Layer Base. (Toggle Dialog Off.)
    3. Select the object that is noted “OnBlue”. (Thus, LayerBlue becomes the current Layer.)
    4. Paste (or PasteInFront or PasteInBack to cause it to paste in the same location).

    The issue is caused when Windows creates the printer profile in the control panel that it doesn't correctly create it with the drivers.
    We're not going to completely uninstall all the HP software, instead we're going to remove the corrupt Windows printer profile and reinstall it.  Total time for this on an average computer is about 5-10 minutes to completely repair (including reboot).
    1) Navigate to Start Menu > Devices and Printers or Start Menu > Control Panel > Printers
    2) Select each printer profile for the printer with an issue, then select remove device/printer.
    3) Reboot
    4) Navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > HP > insert model # here > Add Printer (or Setup Wizard)
    5) Follow the setup prompts to reinstall the printer profile and it recreates the Windows printer.
    6) Run the HP Update Tool from Start Menu > All Programs > HP if your printer installs it, rebooting afterwards if necessary.
    7) Test by printing google.com (uses very little ink when the test page comes out).
    Let me know if you have any questions or issues.
    Thanks,
    Dan

    You seem to have ignored Dude's VERY good advice and continue to press down this ill-advised path.  If you continue this approach, you WILL have problems at the very time you do not need any additional problems.  Trying to recover your production database at 2:00 in the morning is not the time to be getting errors from rman because it can't find what it needs - because you decided to move them around yourself.
    Please reconsider.

  • Quickly move selected mail to a folder

    I am looking to quickly move selected mail messages to a given folder. I know of command-option-t but this will use the destination of the last time I moved a message. I want a constant, always the same destination. I tried to remap the delete-key to move to a folder instead of to the trash but that did not work. I tried to specify a menu name (Message->Move To->foldername), but this also did not work (because the menu item has an icon and not just a name?).
    Anyway, any clever ideas around?
    Thanks alot and Merry Xmas to you all

    I love MsgFiler for this purpose. (I guess that's shorthand for "Message Filer.") It allows me to use keystrokes to access any mailbox. With a message selected, I type "command 1" to bring up MsgFiler, then type in a few letters of the mailbox I want. When it comes up on a list, I can hit "return" to send the message to that mailbox -- simple! Other options include being able to copy to selected mailboxes and opening selected mailboxes through similar easy keystrokes. I love it, and use it to keep my hundreds of messages a day filed properly. Great deal for $8! (I have no affiliation, I'm just a fan.) Here's a link to the site:
