Active Directory Filter

Hi,
I have a simple question about AD filter (the one you can set in Server Manager in order to restrict the view on Active Directory).
Let's say that my AD is organized as follow :
Company Root
Localization
Site1
Site2
SiteN
Each of the above objects are OU.
How do you set up the filter in order to see only the " Site1" leaf ?
So far, i can only make a restriction over one (or more) OU which are at the root of the AD.
Thanks for your answer
Sébastien

Something like:
CN=Site1,OU=Localization, OU=Company Root (if Company Root is not domain name).
On another hand, you would still be able to enter user ID outside of this filter if you specify Custom Filter -> Enter User ID  option when you are in security administration addin a user.
regards,
Akim

    - currenlty we have active directory export profile working successfully
    - the filter we apply at OID side is SynchronizeToAD!=OID
    that means synchronize all ldap data that has a attribute value other than "OID"
    - This works very well
    Problem:
    - We now need to make the export sync work based on a different condition. The condition being....
    SynchronizeToAD=AD3 ( Note the equality condition here, the previous one was not equal to )
    - The moment we set it to the above conditions it seems to invalidate the filter. Now it behaves as if there is no filter. All changes are synchronized regardless of the attribute value
    Question:
    1) Need a way to control synchronization based on attribute value.
    2) So far tried the below filter value with out success

  • Reconciliation - Windows Active Directory - Bypass/Filter certain accounts

    Hello experts,
    Accounts in our Active Directory have an attribue employeeType. We want to load employeeType of "E" and "G" into our IDM repository. There are other employeeType's which we do not want to load. For example we are not interested in AD accounts with an employeeType of "R" so we prefer not to load them into IDM.
    1 solution is to load the employeeType's we want into an organization and all other employeeType's into a different organization then delete the account from the different organization when recon is finished. Not real efficient, but it would work.
    Are there other ideas we are over looking?

    We decided to not filter Active Directory accounts. Instead accounts we are not interested in are assigned to an organization we call Non User Accounts. We might delete those accounts from that organization after the recon runs, but have not decided at this time.
    If you want to filter Active Directory accounts you'll need to modify ADSIResourceAdapter. The method that needs modified is: "public AccountIterator getAccountIterator()". The code bolded below is where you will need to add your ldap filter parms.
    Here is the method from the ADSIResourceAdapter:
    public AccountIterator getAccountIterator()
    throws WavesetException
    String method = "getAccountIterator";
    HashMap params = new HashMap();
    String objectCategory = getOptionalStringResAttrVal("Object Category");
    if(objectCategory != null)
    params.put("Search Filter String", "(objectCategory=" + objectCategory + ")");
    } else
    String objectClass = getOptionalStringResAttrVal("Object Class");
    if(objectClass == null || objectClass != null && "user".equalsIgnoreCase(objectClass.trim()))
    params.put("Search Filter String", "(search filter here");
    AccountIterator result = null;
    try
    result = getBlockAccountIterator(params);
    catch(WavesetException e)
    if(_util != null)
    _util.logString(1, e.getMessage());
    TRACE.info1("getAccountIterator", e.getMessage());
    throw e;
    return result;
    If we were to change this method the 'search filter here' would be changed to (|(employeeType=E)(employeeType=G)).
    Another fix might be to use the LDAPResourceAdapter. We did not explore that option in great depth. However it appears it would work once configured correctly.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • LDAP bindError: Active Directory Password Filter is not working

    Hi,
    I have setup the OID Server in SSL mode by following the instruction given in OIM Admin
    Guide.
    I am able to bind the OID using ldapbind from OID server and ldapbindssl from system on which AD is install.
    but in the logs of Password Filter where AD is present following Error logs.
    "LDAP bindError"
    Server Unavailable
    OR
    Unable to connect to OID
    I am using OID 10.1.2 on which Portal is install and using Active Directory 2003.
    I also tried with Active Diectory 2000.but getting same message.
    Regards,
    RB

    Hi,
    run the AD Pwd filter installer again, and make sure you provide the correct full hostname of the OID server, and also "cn=orcladmin" as the OID user and the password.
    It happens sometimes that the installer does not write the correct values to the windows registry and so the PWD Filter does not get the correct information.
    If ldapbindssl is working then the pwd filter will work also, if the correct information is in the registry.
    The values are stored in the registry on:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\orclidmpwf

    Is this OK or Can we get the success message.

    You can't ignore it. A valid certificate is important to make it work.

  • How do I get info from Active Directory and use it in my web-applications?

    I borrowed a nice piece of code for JNDI hits against Active Directory from this website: http://www.sbfsbo.com/mike/JndiTutorial/

    I altered it to point to my domain, and I want to retrieve a person's full name(CN), e-mail address and their work location.
    I've looked at lots of examples, I've tried lots of things, but I'm really missing something. I'm new to Java, new to JNDI, new to LDAP, new to AD and new to Tomcat. Any help would be so appreciated.

    By this time you probably have already solved this, but I think the problem is that the Search Base is relative to the attachment point specified with the PROVIDER_URL. Since you already specified "DC=mycomp,DC=isd" in that location, you merely want to set the search base to "". The error message is trying to tell you that it could only find half of the "DC=mycomp, DC=isd, DC=mycomp, DC=isd" that you specified for the search base.
    Hope that helps someone.

  • Weblogic with Active Directory Authentication provider problem: DN for user ....: null

    I have a java application (SSO via SAML2) that uses Weblogic as a Identity Service Provider. All works well using users created directly in Weblogic. However, I need to add support for Active Directory. So, as per documentation:
    - I defined an Active Directory Authentication provider
    - changed it's order in the Authentication Providers list so that it comes first
    - set the control flag to SUFFICIENT and configured the Provider Specific; here's the concerned part in config.xml:
    <sec:authentication-provider xsi:type="wls:active-directory-authenticatorType">
            <sec:name>MyOwnADAuthenticator</sec:name>
            <sec:control-flag>SUFFICIENT</sec:control-flag>

            <wls:group-base-dn>CN=wl,DC=at,DC=com</wls:group-base-dn>
    </sec:authentication-provider>
    I configured a AD LDS instance(Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services) on a Windows Server 2008 R2. I created users and one admin user "tadmin" which was added to Administrators members. I also made sure to set msDS-UserAccountDisabled property to FALSE.
    After restarting Weblogic I can see that the AD LDS's users and groups are correctly fetched in Weblogic. But, when I try to connect with my application, using Username:tadmin and Password:<...> it does not work.
    Here's what I see in the log file:
    <BEA-000000> <LDAP Atn Login username: tadmin>
    <BEA-000000> <authenticate user:tadmin>
    <BEA-000000> <getConnection return conn:LDAPConnection {ldaps://10.20.150.4:5000 ldapVersion:3 bindDN:"CN=tadmin,CN=wl,DC=at,DC=com"}>

    So, I tried to look why do I have: <DN for user tadmin: null>. Using Apache Directory Studio I reproduced the ldap search request used in Weblogic and, sure enough, I get no results. But, changing the filter to only "(&(cn=tadmin)(objectclass=user))" (NOTICE, no userAccountControl), it works; here's the result from Apache Directory Studio:
    #!SEARCH REQUEST (145) OK
    #!CONNECTION ldap://10.20.150.4:5000

    #!DATE 2014-01-23T14:52:09.356
    # numEntries : 1
    (the "[email protected]" is defined as userPrincipalName in the tadmin user on AD LDS)
    As you can see, "# numEntries : 1" (and I can see as result the entry "CN=tadmin,CN=wl,DC=at,DC=com"  in Apache Directory Studio's interface); if I add the userAccountControl filter I get 0.
    I've read that the AD LDS does not use userAccountControl but "uses several individual attributes to hold the information that is contained in the flags of the userAccountControl attribute"; among those attributes is msDS-UserAccountDisabled which, as I said, I already set to FALSE.
    So, my question is, how do I make it work? Why do I have "<DN for user tadmin: null>" ? Is it the userAccountControl ? If it is, do I need to do some other configuration on my AD LDS ? Or, how can I get rid of the userAccountControl filter in Weblogic?
    I didn't seem to find it in config files or in the interface: I only have "User From Name Filter: (&(cn=%u)(objectclass=user))", there's no userAccountControl.
    Another difference I noticed is that, even though in Weblogic I have set ssl-enabled flag to false, in the logs I see ldaps and not ldap ( I'm not looking to setup something production-ready and I don't want SSL for the moment ).
    Here are some other things I tried but did not change anything:
    - the other "msDS-" attributes were not set so I tried initializing them to some value
    - I tried other users defined in AD LDS, not tadmin
    - in Weblogic I added users that were imported from AD LDS in Roles and Policies> Realm Roles > Global Roles > Roles > Admin
    - I removed all userAccountControl occurrences that I found in xml files in Weblogic (schema.ms.xml, schema.msad2003.xml)
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

    I managed to narrow it down: the AD LDS does not support the userAccountControl.
    Anyone knows how I can configure my Active Directory Authentication Provider in Weblogic so that it does not implicitly use userAccountControl as filter?
    <BEA-000000> <getDNForUser search("CN=wl,DC=at,DC=com", "(&(&(cn=tadmin)(objectclass=user))(!(userAccountControl:1.2.840.113556.1.4.803:=2)))", base DN & below)>

  • Issue with Active Directory User Target Recon

    Hi ,
    I am facing an issue with Active Directory User Target Recon
    My environment is OIM 11g R2 with BP03 patch applied
    AD Connector is activedirectory-11.1.1.5 with bundle patch 14190610 applied
    In my Target there are around 28000 users out of which 14000 have AD account (includes Provisioned,Revoked,Disabled accounts)
    When i am running Active Directory User Target Recon i am not putting any filter cleared the batch start and batch size parameters and ran the recon job .Job ran successfully but it stopped after processing around 3000 users only.
    Retried the job two three times but every time it is stopping after processing some users but not processing all the users.
    Checked the log file oimdiagnostic logs and Connector server logs cannot see any errors in it.
    Checked the user profile of users processed can see AD account provisioned for users
    My query is why this job is not processing allthe users.Please point if i am missing some thing .
    thanks in advance

    Check the connector server load when you are running the recon. Last time I checked the connector, the way it was written is that it loads all the users from AD into the connector server memory and then sends them to OIM. So if the number was huge, then the connector server errored out and did not send data to OIM. We then did recon based on OUs to load/link all the users into OIM. Check the connector server system logs and check for memory usage etc.

  • Active Directory Not Syncing Correctly in ES2

    Hello,
    We had our Active Directory 2003 synced up using Adobe Livecycle ES.  There would be around 30,000 users that would be synced and this would take around 3 - 4 1/2 minutes to run.  This worked perfectly for us for the past half of a year or so.
    Last week we upgraded to ES2 and moved all of our processes over.  We removed ES and did a fresh install of ES2.  Everything seems to be working fine now except the Active Directory isn't syncing properly.  When we run the sync, different numbers of users will be fetched.  Sometimes it's around three thousand, sometimes seven thousand, sometimes ten thousand, but it never seems to get through them all.  In the server log it does say that the directory synchronization completed successfully though even though the number fetched is changing.  We made sure the settings are exactly the same as they were before, and we even tried a few different settings, but it still doesn't get all the users.  For testing purposes, we tried changing the search filter to pick specific people that aren't showing up during the normal sync and it will show up fine, so I'm wondering if there is something stopping it from going all the way through?
    We also have another enterprise domain connected which has around 2,000 users on it and have not had this problem with it.
    Here are some of the sync statistics from the past few syncs: (The active directory name has been stripped for security purposes).  If you need any more information please feel free to ask.  We would like to have this resolved as soon as possible.

    We do have quite a few that are missing an attribute, specifically:
    2010-06-06 21:05:47,579 WARN  [com.adobe.idp.um.businesslogic.synch.LdapHelper] Record [xxxx] is missing required attribute [objectSID] for canonicalName i.e uniqueIdentifier field
    This is something that was on our old system as well:
    2010-05-25 03:02:35,559 INFO  [com.adobe.idp.um.provider.directoryservices.LDAPDirectoryPrincipalProviderImpl] UserM:: [Thread Hashcode: 3010887] This record is missing a required attribute and cannot be used. Specifically CanonicalName is null. Common Name: xxxx
    We have many users in our active directory with just email accounts so that users are able to search for a name and find the email address in outlook.  I have checked through these and they look fine (though there are fewer entries in ES2 since there are fewer users being fetched).
    As for the locked users, here is what we received:
    2010-06-06 21:05:47,579 INFO  [com.adobe.idp.um.businesslogic.synch.LdapPrincipalProvider] Found [1257] locked users while synching. These users were ignored
    This sounds about right for the amount of users that were fetched.
    If you have any more questions or ideas, please let us know.  We would like to have this resolved as soon as possible.  Thanks.

  • How to populate active directory users in to drop down list items dynamically in Share point 2010 ?

    Hi My self Arun in my current project i have a task on that active directory user  need to automatically populate in share point list drop down  please help me.  is that any out of box feature in share point 2010 ?
    Thanking You
    Arun

    Arun,
    If you plan to implement the "Querying the Active Directory" based on my code snippet,
    and if you do not have permission [your account must be the part of domain admin] to do so,
    Then still you can do it in least effort through code,
    string usersInXml = SPContext.Current.Web.AllUsers.Xml;your xml string look like this.
    <Users><User ID="2" Sid="" Name="Administrator"
    LoginName="i:0#.w|murugesan\administrator" Email="" Notes="" IsSiteAdmin="True" IsDomainGroup="False" Flags="0" /><User ID="1" Sid="" Name="Murugesa Pandian" LoginName="i:0#.w|murugesan\murugesan" Email="" Notes="" IsSiteAdmin="True" IsDomainGroup="False" Flags="0" /><User ID="1073741823" Sid="S-1-0-0" Name="System Account" LoginName="SHAREPOINT\system" Email="" Notes="" IsSiteAdmin="False" IsDomainGroup="False" Flags="0" /></Users>
    You can user Linq to XML to filter the "LoginName,Name and Email and then populate your drop down list.
    * User must be logged into the site at least once.

  • How to populate a sharepoint 2010 list from the active directory. How to populate a sharepoint 2010 list with all sharepoint user profiles

    How to populate a sharepoint 2010 from the active directory.
    I want a list of all the computers in the active directory,
    another one with all users.
    I want also to populate a sharepoint 2010 list from the sharepoint user profiles.
    Thanks
    sz

    While
    the contacts list is usually filled out for contacts that are outside the company, there are times when you would use a contacts list to store internal and external resources.  Wouldn’t it be nice if you didn’t have to re-type your internal contacts’
    information that are already in the system?  Now you can with a little InfoPath customization on the contacts list.
    Here’s our plan:
    Create the contacts list, and open in InfoPath
    Create a data connection to the User Profile web service
    Customize the form adding some text, a people picker and a button
    Create InfoPath rules that will populate the contact fields from the user fields in the User Profile store
    Let’s get going!  Before we begin, make sure you have InfoPath 2010 installed locally on your computer.  I also want to give credit Laura
    Rogers and Darvish Shadravan’s book Using
    Microsoft InfoPath 2010 with Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Step by Step.  I know it looks like a lot of steps, but it’s easy once you get the hang of it.
    So obviously we need a contacts list.  If you don’t already have one, go to the SharePoint site where it will live, and create a contacts list.
    From the list, click the List tab on the ribbon, then click Customize form:
    So now we have our form open in InfoPath 2010.  Let’s add our elements to the form.
    Above all the fields, let’s add some text instructing users what to do with the the field we’re about to add (.e.g To enter an existing user’s information, choose the user below).
    Insert a people picker control by clicking the Person/Group Picker control in the Controls section of the ribbon.  This will add a column to the contacts list called group.
    Below the people picker, insert a button control from the same section of the ribbon as above.  With the button still highlighted, click the Control Tools|Properties tab on the ribbon.
    Then in the Label box, change the text to something more appropriate to our task (e.g. Click here to load user data!).
    You can drag the button control a little larger to account for the text.
    We should end up with something like this:
    Before we can populate the fields with user data, we need to create a connection to the User Profile Service.
    Add a data connection to the User Profile Service
    Click the Data tab on the ribbon, and click the option From Web Service, and From SOAP Web Service.
    For the location, enter the URL of your SharePoint site in the following format – http://<site url>/_vti_bin/UserProfileService.asmx?WSDL.  Click Next.
    Note - for the URL, it can be any SharePoint site URL, not just to the site where your list is.
    For the operation, choose GetUserProfileByName.  Click Next.
    Click Next on the next two screens.
    On the final screen, uncheck the box for “Automatically retrieve data when form is opened”. This is because we are going to retrieve the data when the button is clicked, also for performance reasons.
    Now we need to wire up the actions on our button to populate the fields with the information for the user in the people picker control.
    Tell the form to read the user from the people picker control
    Click the Home tab on the ribbon.
    Click the button control we created, and under the Rules section of the ribbon, click Manage Rules. Notice the pane appear on the far right.
    In the Rules pane, click New –> Action. Change the name to something like “Query and load user data”.
    Leave the condition to default (none – rule runs when button is clicked).
    Click the Add button next to “Run these actions:”, and choose “Set a field’s value”.
    For Field, click the button on the right to load the select a field dialog.  Click the Show advanced view on the bottom.  At the top, click the drop down and choose the GetUserProfileByName
    (Secondary) option.  Expand myFields and queryFields to the last option and highlightAccountName.  Click ok.
    For Value, click the formula icon. On the formula screen, click the Insert Field or Group button. Again click the show advanced view link, but this time leave the data
    connection as Main. Expand dataFields, then mySharePointListItem_RW.  At the bottom you should see a folder called group (the people picker control we just added to the form).  Expand this, then pc:Person,
    and highlightAccountId.  Click Ok twice to get back to the Rules pane.
    If we didn’t do this and just queried the user profile service, it would load the data of the currently logged in user.  So we need to tell the form what user to load the data for.  We take the AccountID field from the people
    picker control and inject into the AccountName query field of the User Profile Service data connection.
    Load the user profile service information for the chosen user
    Click the Add button next to “Run these actions:”, and choose Query for data.
    In the popup, for Data connection, click the one we created earlier – GetUserProfileByName and clickOk.
    We’re closing in on our goal.  Let’s see our progress.  We should see something like this:
    Now that we have the user’s data read into the form, we can populate the fields in the contact form.  The number of steps to complete will depend on how many fields you want to populate.  We need to add an action step for
    each field.  I’ll show you one example and then you will just repeat the steps for the other fields.  Let’s update the Job Title field.
    Populate the contact form fields with existing user’s data
    Click the Add button next to “Run these actions:”, and choose “Set a field’s value”.
    For Field, click the button on the right to load the select a field dialog.  Highlight the field Job Title.
    For Value, click the formula icon. On the formula screen, click the Insert Field or Group button.  Click the Show advanced view on the bottom. At the top, click the
    drop down and choose theGetUserProfileByName (Secondary) option.  Expand the fields all the way down until you see the Value field.  Highlight it but don’t click ok, but click the Filter
    Data button, then Add.
    For the first dropdown that says Value, choose Select a field or group.   The value field will be highlighted, but click the field Name field
    under PropertyData.  Click Ok.
    In the blank field after “is equal to”, click in the box and choose Type text.  Then type the text Title.
    Click ok until you get back to the Manage Rules pane.  The last previous screen will look like this.
    We’re going to update common fields that are in the user’s profile, and likely from Active Directory.  You can update fields like first and last name, company, mobile and work phone number, etc.  For the other fields, the
    steps are the same except the Field you choose to update from the form, and the very last step where you enter the text will change.  Here’s what the rules look like when we’re done:
    We’re all done, good work!  You can preview the form and try it now.  Click Ctrl+Shift+B to preview the form.  Once you’re satisfied, you can publish the form back to the library.  Click File –> Quick
    Publish.  Once it’s done, you will get confirmation:
    Now open your form in SharePoint.  From the contact list, click Add new item.  Type in a name, and click the button and watch the magic happen!

  • Creating group dynamically in active directory depending on their role

    Hi,
    I have sycn oid and active directory using directory integration platform. Now the scenario is We have one system says hr system which take care of entering all the user information. Once it submit that information it goes to oid. Now we want that when we import all that user from oid to active directory it didn't duplicate any user as well as depending on their role it should create groups dynamically in active directory. For e.g: If user belong to Trainee category or manager category it must create Trainee group & Manager group & respective person should go into that group. I don't know whether my question is placed in right group or not. I am using filter to do this task but not able to write proper condition in "source matching filter" and "destination matching rule". Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sonya Sharma

    Thanks Tamim. To clear your thought, i will explain again. I have sync oid and active directory through Directory integration platform. I have created user in oid.(cn=users,dc=mycompany,dc=com). It get sync in active directory properly. Now i have created two group in active directory say for e.g Trainees and Manager. There is a field name position in oid which is a custom attribute. When i fill the information of user in oid, I have to fill "Position" attribute also. So my question is that, if i fill Trainee as a value in Position attribute and click on submit it should go in Trainee Group In active directory and not in user group. Same for manager. How can we achieve this? Can we do it through filter? Or any other way? It's needed desperately. Please help me in resolving this issue.
    Regards,
    Sunil

  • Error in Active Directory System Discovery (0x80005010)

    Hi,
    I've configured Active Directory System Discovery in a SCCM 2007 R2 SP2 configuration. I see several SCCM clients being populated with OU information, but others do not. I've taken a look in the adsysdis.log. There it states for a very large number of computer accounts:
    INFO: discovered object with ADsPath = 'LDAP://<domain controller>/<DN computerobject>'
    WARN: Could not get property (domain) for system (0x80005010)
    Afterwards there is no entry that states a ddr is written for this computer object and the SCCM client object is not populated with information.
    Can someone explain what exactly is the issue, and how to solve it?

    I got exactly same issue - SCCM 2007 SP2 two primary sites (one central). AD sctructure got one forest and two domains.
    Does anyone solved this issue ?

  • SMB access for Active Directory users

    Hi there,
    My server is an OD Master bound to AD for authentication and my institution's Kerberos realm.
    When I try to share files from the server via SMB and connect as an Active Directory user I get the following error in the logs:
    [2009/06/11 12:02:27, 1, pid=5308] /SourceCache/samba/samba-187.8/samba/source/libads/kerberosverify.c:ads_verifyticket(428)

    Failed to verify incoming ticket with error NTSTATUS_LOGONFAILURE!
    I've read something vague about having to Kerberize the SMB service seperately so I'm not sure if that's the problem.
    My smb.conf file is as follows:

    I am now having the same problem - a Windows server trying to access a file share on the Mac Server is presented with the same error message in the log files:

    Workgroup manager can read from Active Directory - seems to be jiving correctly - my server (SMB) is in Domain Member mode...
    When I try to access system from \\UNC command, I am presented with username/password prompt and nothing works.
    Not feeling the Mac OS X love tonight.
