Add appointments to iCal  from PC?

I gave my wife a pass word to add appointments to my published calendar. She has a PC. Can she post new appointments from her PC on my calendar? How?

It would be rather difficult to add, delete or modify data on a published calendar, because—by definition—it is a read-only object. And that's true, regardless of whether it is published through .Mac or on a public or private WebDAV server.
iCal 3, which ships with Mac OS X 10.5 in five or so months will allow for sharing calendars through iCal Server or any CalDAV compliant equivalent. But, you'll have to wait until then to do so, and maybe even longer for someone to ship a CalDAV compliant PC equivalent to the iCal client.

  • Duplicate appointments in iCal from Mail

When I open an email .vcs attachment in Mail 1.3.11 it places 2 appointments in iCal 1.5.5
I found the script to remove duplicates but I am still having the same problem when I open .vcs attachment in Mail

    Hello Alex,
I've been working on trying to get .vcs files from my email into iCal using Applescript, and have written a script that I can drop the .vcs files onto which will then import them into the calendar.... Here is a link to my post in the Applescript forum regarding this...

I THINK this will work to get you to the post. If not, let me know and I can drop you a copy of the script. I don't think the script will suit your needs "off the shelf" but I think there would only need to be one modification to it so that it will work for you.... Right now I have it set up to import the same event into two different calendars. All that needs to happen is for me to change it so that it only imports to 1 calendar. Let me know if you are not an Applescripter, and I will see if I can whip those changes off for you....

  • Rogue appointments in ical from Mail

Something new and worrying has happened. I just received a Spam email soliciting money, but they included an appointment which automatically got input into ical, so now I have an ical appointment to delete.  I did not open the email or click on anything.  It just did this all by itself.  I'm concerned about this invastion into my ical from a spammer.  Can this be avoided?
I notice it's actually an invitation from Google Calendar.

    Cartoonguy,
Open Mail>Preferences...>General> and make sure that "Add invitations fo Calendar:" is set to "Never."
Since you did not open or click on anything, I expect that your computer has not been compromised in any way.
P.S. Are you a reliable business partner?

  • HOW TO VIEW & EDIT/ADD DATA TO ICAL FROM WINDOWS XP

I am new to macs & have been using windows xp at my office. I want to know whether there is a way to edit/add my ical calendars & to-do lists from windows xp. I tried using mozilla calendar but it is pathethic. ical data is not compatible with outlook 2003 & entourage for mac os x is also not comaptible with outlook even when both are made by microsoft. Now I'm stuck with either ical or outlook or entourage . I know that entourage data can be imported in ical but I wanna edit/add the calendars/to do list on a windows pc. please help

I would also like to know if this is possible.
I manage a band and currently we use a bravenet web calendar to keep track of gigs and people's availability. Band members can access the calendar via a web browser and update their availability.
They are windows users and I use a mac. I know that they can access my ical calendar as read only but I would like for them to be able to add stuff to a calendar that is sync'd in some way to my ical calendar so I don't need to update both the bravent calendar and my ical calendar.
It would be great if someone could help with this please
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • How do I add events to iCal from emails instead of Entourage

When I first set up my Pro last year I brought my Outlook data over to Entourage. I later discovered I liked Mail, iCal and Address Book better so converted over to these programs. I just upgraded to the new Office for Mac and now when I click a date / event in an email to let it add it automatically to iCal, Entourage starts up and wants to put the event there. I can't find any settings in iCal or Entourage that prevent Entourage from doing this. Am I missing something or do I need to uninstall just Entourage from my Pro?

In Mail preferences, is Mail or Entourage selected as the default mail reader?
The reason for the question is that since the calendar and email client are part of the same package with Entourage, if it is selected as primary, the calendar my get called by default.

  • ICal no longer adds appointments

This is an old issue that Apple refuses to fix.  But I wanted to see if anyone how been able to get around this with some official fix from Apple.  I haven't heard of such a thing yet.
The issue: when you get any invite from someone else and add it to iCal, it never works.  Error is:
The server responded with an error.
Access to “GoToWebinar - some title” in “Home” in account “iCloud” is not permitted.
    The server responded:
    “403”
    to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.
Is it best to just completely avoid iCal for external appointments?  Thing is, stupid error constantly pops up until you delete the appointment.

Every time I find this topic someone always says quit being lazy and just type it or bring up that it needs to be in your history/bookmarks. Safari used to put www. and .com in automatically when you put in your domain name "x" and simply hit enter. Mine quit doing it when I went to safari 4.0 and now at 4.0.4 still no luck and no fix. It was a nice feature and I liked it. It's not a bad thing to want something back you were used too.

You need to have the latest version of iTunes on the computer, version 11.1.3 to be able to handle syncing a newer phone with iOS 7. The iTunes on the iPhone has nothing to do with syncing and is installed by the iOS.
Go to iTunes on the computer, click on Help, Check for updates to update iTunes on the computer, or go to to www.apple.com/itunes/download and download and install the latest version of iTunes to correct your problem.

  • Can't add accounts to iCal

    Hi!
It all started with a runtime error when I tried to add a subscription on a calendar from my University. It stated "An unknown error occurred, please try again later. Error -1. "
Couldn't find anything on the subject with that runtime error, so I tried to clear the iCal cache according to the methods on wikihow.
Said and done and as suspected the calendar had a clean slate and it rebuilt a new cache on it's own.
Now to my problem, whenever I try to add a new account in the Archive->Preferences->Accounts I get to the point of where I log onto an account, check
the box for "calendar" and "add account" . Then nothing. The same goes for every single account I've tried to add, google etc.
All except for Facebook account which I've successfully added!
So how do I solve this one?
    OS X Yosemite 10.10
MacBook Air (13 inch, early 2014)
Cpu 1,4 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Cheers

My iCal Preferences tell me that I have CalDAV (whatever that is). It seems that I lost the ability to attach files to calendar events with the recent Mobile Me calendar upgrade. I hope Apple will bring back this functionality soon. However looking at my iCal Help, there is an instruction given to attach files to events. Problem is that I can't seem to get it to work. It says ...
To attach a file to an event invitation:
    1. Double-click the event. If necessary, click Edit to open the event editor.
    2. Drag the file you want over the open event editor. You can also click Add File next to “attachments,” navigate to the file you want, and then click Open. The file appears in the “attachments” field.
    3. If the event is in a CalDAV calendar and you want to allow invitees to add or remove files from the event invitation, select the “Allow Others to Manage Files” checkbox. Only the meeting organizer can select or deselect this checkbox.
    - (iCal also allows you to see a preview of any file attached to an event. To see a preview, select the file in the “attachments” field, and then press the Space bar).

  • Set a Default Calendar for New Appointments in iCal?

I never found a post with a sufficient answer to this question. However, it seems as though I may have stumbled on a resolution myself.
iCal has it's own default calendars: Home and Work. I use MobileMe so the MoblieMe calendar is listed there as well. I also have an iPhone 4. I wanted all calendars to syncronize automatically when I create a new appointment on any of the 3 locations (laptop, cloud, or phone). I found that when create a new event in iCal on my macbook pro, it wouldn't update with mobileme or my phone. This was because when I double click to create a new event, iCal automatically puts the new event into my "Home" calendar, even though it was unchecked and not highlighted. As soon as I double click to create the new event, iCal's default kicks in and the Home calendar in the "On My Mac" section suddenly becomes checked and highlighted all by itself and the new event is automatically placed there, never to be updated with the cloud or on my phone.
I think the problem may be related to something I read under "How Do I Set a Default Calendar for New Appointments in iCal?" There a solution given was that the uppermost calendar was being defaulted to and it was suggested to drag the desired calendar to the uppermost position. None of my calendars would drag anywhere. However, I find that if I uncheck Home and Work in the column on the left under "On My Mac" AND then click the arrow so those two calendars are hidden (very important), and then check and highlight the only showing calendar: MobileMe, that (so far) when I doulbe click to create a new event, a new event is created in the MobileMe calendar, and Home and/or Work under the "On My Mac" section never becomes checked or highlighted. So the new event is created only in the MobileMe calendar listed and updates on my laptop, in the cloud, and on my phone.
So far that has been my experience; but, it has been only minutes since I tried that, so let's see what happens after a couple of weeks or so of normal use and see if the problem is actually resolved.

I have been searching for this information for weeks now -- thank you!
This works for Google Calendar as well as for Mobile Me. I'm going to type a little more information here to see if I can help this answer come up more quickly for other users when they keyword search as I was doing.
This answer helped me reset and change the default calendar for iCal. I can now set my Google Calendar as the default calendar in iCal. When I create a new event in iCal, it syncs to Google Calendar as the default calendar without having to choose another calendar. All my iCal new events now go directly to Google Calendar and sync to my iPhone and iPad. I couldn't move the gmail google calendar to the top position, and just unchecking Home and Work didn't change where new events defaulted. Now my new events automatically go from iCal to google calendar, and I don't lose track of any events. I think you can set any calendar as the default iCal calendar for new events using this approach.

  • I work nights. Can I switch Travel Time in iCal from work to home?

I work nights. Can I switch Travel Time in iCal from work to home? I really don't have any appointments from 11 pm to 7 am when I work, but I don't want to switch when my day starts in preferences as no one else in my family works nights.
    Any suggestions?

i haven't seen that option either, and it would be a great feature. (traveltime in a different colour...)
i do it like this: in the caption of the appointment i put the time that the gig starts. the actual time stretch of the appointment is the appointment including traveltime.
it's not the best way, but it works...
    good luck

  • How to stop ical from sending email notifications for updates on my share ical calendar

Is it possible stop ical from sending email notifications for updates I make on my share ical calendar?
    Mac OSX 10.7.2
Very annoying for the person I am sharing my calendar with to get an email every time I change something.
I hope there is a way to stop the emails, but for the updates to still go on their calendar.
    Thanks

Great idea Lofty! thanks. If the person you are sharing a calendar with is a Yahoo Mail user, you only need to set up one filter (under Options - Mail Options - Filters) and route to Spam folder or a special folder for that purpose.
Add a filter with the following parameters:
Sender contains:    "Your First and Last Name" as it appears in the emails they are receiving
    Subject contains:  "Your First Name"
    Email body contains: "iCloud"
Don't need to match case on anything.
So far, only these unwanted emails are being routed to the folder I chose.
Hope that helps until Apple gets it's act together

  • My iPhone 4s worked fine at 9am. At 9:30am all my contacts were gone. I got most of them back.Numerous other issues with my phone now. Send button sometimes grey. Can't add appointments. There is more. Help??

I got most of my contacts back, but there was no rhyme or reason for which ones were dropped. I literally called someone and had no problems. The phone was on my desk just sitting there. About thirty minutes later, I got a call from my wife and it didn't show her as a contact, just the number. That's when I realized all my contacts were gone. I retrieved most of them, but many are still not there. I did the latest update before all this happened. Now, I can't add appointments, I can't text some people, even after I add them to my contacts again, and I've got no idea how to fix this issue. Thanks for any help!!

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
