Adding a 5770?

Bought a macpro from apple four days ago. Got the single 5770 graphics card but have since decided I wanted another one for more displays. I purchased a card (5770) and installed but get the dimscreen "Restart your computer" error about 30 to 60 seconds after power on. Works fine with stock card alone, doesn't work at all with aftermarket card in any slot by itself. And yes, I have the 6-pin power cord for both cards.
Am I missing something??

You didn't pick it up from Apple; you bought a PC card and it doesn't have EFI but instead standard Windows BIOS and would only work in a PC or runnning Windows natively.
You can get 3 displays off one ATI with the right adapters. Or get a GT120 even.

I know that this sounds somewhat stupid, but where can I download old versions of packages? I need xorg-server<1.7.0 for catalyst 10.1, and catalyst 8.10 doesn't seem to be installing.
I really wish that I could use the radeonhd driver, but my card apparently isn't supported.

I have a 5770 and after trying different drivers I fund that only vesa and fglrx seemed to work. I did this:

i.e., added this repo to my /etc/pacman.conf above [core]. Then you just need to run:
pacman -Syy
pacman -Suu
pacman -Rd libgl
pacman -S catalyst
If you have already installed xorg fully, you may also need to remove xorg-server and reinstall it from the [catalyst] repository (which should work with 'pacman -S xorg-server' if the [catalyst] repo has been placed correctly above [core] and [testing] if you are using [testing])
You will then need to run
ati --initial
if you need to make a xorg.conf file, if you already have one maybe remove it and run this anyway
I then ran
aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf
because I have a single head setup although I don't think I needed to
You then need to edit /etc/rc.conf and add 'fglrx' minus the quotes to the MODULES=() array.
REBOOT
Once you've installed a desktop environment, you may find that the image doesn't fit your screen, to fix this first install qt with 'pacman -S qt' and the run 'amdcccle' as root (or 'gksudo amdcccle', but 'sudo amdcccle' should be fine).
Then click the [+] next to Display Manager then click DTV (1) if the option is there and go to the 'Adjustments' tab and drag the scaling options to 0% (Overscan).
That's what I did, of course, depending on your setup you may need to follow the Archwiki article differently.

Problems with 5870 & 5770 for Maya?

Hi, I have a 12-core 2.93GHz Mac Pro and need to add another monitor.
So right now my current set up is a 24" ACD, a Dell u2311h, and some 1080p TV running off a 5870. I have heard that whenever you add another monitor, in cuts the amount of video RAM your GPU uses for each monitor. And because of this, I only plug in the TV cable when I want to watch a movie or need to show something on the TV.
I am wanting another Dell u2311h and will need another GPU. I am looking into the 5770 because it is only $250. I do a lot of Maya work and the added screen would be extremely helpful.
Whenever I am on Maya, the viewport is always on the 24" ACD, and I have all my other windows spread out across the u2311h. The main windows I will have open on the u2311h are nothing GPU intensive such as the outliner, hypershade, UV texture editor, light linking, render view, and a few others.
And because I heard that when you have multiple monitors running off 1 GPU the video RAM is cut in half or thirds, I would like to have the two u2311h's running on the 5770 to keep the 5870 just for the viewport.
I am wondering if this will cause any problems. Will Maya get confused by having some windows running on monitors from the 5770 and the viewport on the 5870? Would going from 2 monitors on the 5870 to 1 on the 5870 provide any performance increase? Would having 3 monitors (u2311h X 2 & TV) on the 5770 for the non-intensive windows cause any problems?
Right now I just do not want to have any performance hits by adding another monitor. So if I would have some performance hit, what would be the ideal setup for Maya with a 5870, 5770, ACD, 2X u2311h, and a TV?
Lastly, I am currently under the impression that I will need a small external power supply to do this. Both optical drive slots are filled and I am perfectly fine having an external power supply on top of the Pro and a wire running into the pro from the top PCIe slot. What power supply would you recommend?
Or would the regular power supply be able to power both GPUs if I use this cable?

I have a Mac Pro early 2008 (3,1) with two display cards - an ATI 2600 HD (came with the computer) and an Apple branded ATI 5770.
All was reasonably well until I installed a Sonnet eSATA card in PCIe slot 4. Then, roughly every third time the computer went to sleep it would not wake up - the same problem you had. I had to reboot.
Unfortunately, I could not find a solution and I removed the eSATA card.
You do not have that option. So, my only suggestion is that you do as you suggest, and turn off sleep. Keep in mind that "display sleep" and "computer sleep" are different things - you may be able to get away with disabling computer sleep in system preferences, but keeping display sleep functional. This will save some power, and will turn off your monitors, but the computer will still be awake, and would probably respond to a wake signal (like a keystoke or mouse click)

Options for adding 2nd video card to MacPro 1,1?

I want to add a second video card to my Mac Pro 1,1 so I can connect a third display.
I currently have a Radeon 4870 in the PCIe x16 slot, and the three other PCI x8 slots are still open.
What are my options for adding a second ATI card to one of the PCI x8 slots? Would prefer a Mac native card that doesn't require any flashing.
I'm running latest version of OS X Lion.

You have different ways of configuring the PCIe slots, but you don't have 16x along with 3 x 8x,
One 8x
One 4x
One 1x
One 16x
Is normal setup.
Lots of choices, if you look on Apple Store <g> (5770), or ebay: 8800GT and other 3rd party vendors.
If the 4870 uses just one aux power cable, I'd get the 5770 as primary card.
The 5770 can drive 3 displays but depends on resolution and cost of dual-link DVI if req'd.

Radeon HD 5770 got too noisy

I've been using ATI Radeon HD5770 from Apple on my Mac Pro 1.1 and It has been working great until yesterday.
Radeon HD 5770 fan got really loud because it spin very fast. It is lound from start up and stay loud entire time.I tried Command+Option+P+R but it didn't help. Except noise, it is working fine but it is unacceptably noisy. I checked temperature sensor values and everything looks fine.
Is anyone encounter similar problem? Let me know if you have any idea to fix this issue.
Configuration:
Mac Pro 1.1, 8GByte Memory - 8x1GByte
Mac OS X 10.6.8
PCIe Cards:Radeon HD 5770, Areca RAID Card
Display:Dell U2711

It sounds like the bearing on the fan may have worn out. You can try adding some light oil, but the real solution would be to replace the fan.
NB: WD-40 is all solvent, and will all eventually evaporate, leaving no oil behind.

K8N Master 2 Far & Radeon 5770

I am trying to install a Radeon 5770 in this motherboard, I cannot get the motherboard to POST with the card installed. It seems from a few threads on the AMD forums that there is a compatibility issue with nForce4 (amongst others) and Radeon 5770 which may or may not be related to PCIE v1.0 vs PCIE V2.1, and/or 1GB memory on the card vs 512MB.
I am running the 1.42 BIOS which I have updated by installing the latest (5.60 or 6.60) nVidia RAID BIOS, by removing and re-inserting the correct chunk. nVidia RAID has worked flawlessly for me now for over a year. My Silicon IMage SATA card runs a non-raid base bios
I am using the RAID drive as the primary with WIndows 7 Professional 64bit and my system is perfectly stable. I keep it on for weeks hibernating it at night and almost only reboot after driver updates.
My previous card was a HD 4830 512MB which works fine.
Rest of system is 2x Opteron 248, Asektek Water Chill, Creative XFi Fatality, Sil3132 SATA 2 port addon card, Pioneer Blu-ray Reader, DVD writer, 2GB Kingston DDR800 registered memory, 4 x 320GB SATA drives in RAID.
PSU is a TAGAN 580-U12, a modular PSU supplying either 12V1 20A, 12V2 20A or 12V 35A.
I have tried all the PSU possibilities
1) Combined rails
2) Moving PCIe about
3) Connecting VGA 4 pin on motherboard (JPOWER_3)
4) Detaching all drives, and cards other than the graphics card.
and no it still won't boot.
I have verified benchmarks for Power showing that the total system draw for a 4830 and a 5770 system is about the same +/- 10W at idle and load, so at the least removing all the drives and cards should have added 60w to the system.
Looking around the net there was a simlar problem here and a new beta BIOS issued. Does anybody know, can they find out what changed and whether I can do something similar.

Well I can confirm that
a) My 5770 works
b) It has a fairly late (11/19) GPU BIOS and I can't find a later one
c) It has a windows experience index of 7.4! (cries in tea)
d) It will run fine from a 380W PSU (Seasonic S12), in fact this PSU is so old it does not have a PCIe connector (6 pin) so I had to dig out the 4 pin molex to 6 pin PCIE from the 4830 board.
so power wise
E5200, G31, 2 sticks DDR2 800, 2 SATA II 7200rpm, 2 PCI Cards (Tuners), 1 HD 5770 from 2 x 17A Rails (Max 324W = 27A) works
2 x Opteron 248, nForce 4 Professional, 2 sticks Registered ECC DDR2 800, 1 HD 5770 from a 1 x 35A (420W) does not work
Moreover, the 380W PSU has been on for about 2 years in the HTPC, whereas my Opteron system is only on when I'm in the office so lets say 4 hours a day on a nomal 248 working days a year for 2 years. This would imply the 580 has aged less.
While I cannot truly compare apples with apples, its not the PSU at fault here, but as said in other threads there seems to be some Init problem on the motherboard.
I am also not going to say that the 5770 running at full blast will provide a stable experience off the 380W supply, merely that it boots and runs Windows 7 Aero and MCE without any stress or excessive current. I have not qualification tested the set up with a GPU stress test and probably would not do so.
Unfortunately I cannot try inserting the nForce 4 motherboards second PCIe x16 slot as physically, my watercooling tubes exit the case where the connectors would sit to reach the external radiator, so it would mean a full drain and refill. I'd contemplate that if there was some common trend, but it seems too early yet, after all this thread appears in the first page on google already so there's not much help so far.
I am afraid I am out of things to try! I am also reluctant to upgrade just for the sake of HD 5770 my Opteron system is actually pretty decent although I would like to go to 4GB and quad core.

Added new field to cube but data not passed from DSO

(BI 7.0) We added new fields into a cube. The fields already existed in the DSO. When we ran the process chain in development for the first time after making this change, we notice that the 'historical' data for these fields is populated in the cube. When we do this in our quality system only new data passed to the cube is updated. In development in the sub-chain DTP request we see all previous requests listed under selections. In quality it is only the latest request. The only difference is that the DeltaInit flag in the DTP request in development is ticked (extraction mode) - but not in quality. Does anyone know whyb this is?

Adding fields to cube doesn't affect delta status...The delta DTP should be able to handle delta requests automatically.
I guess in you quality system, the cube already got all requests updated from ODS before you importing the change request. And in develop system none of the requests in ODS were updated before the change.

Adding data mid-month?

HI, i recently just switched to verizon and so far i have loved it. But now im running into an issue and itseems almost impossible to get ahold of anyone via phone for support so im going to try this way.
I am mid way through my month and i have ran out of data. I want to add more to my account so my phone will have internet again. How do i do this? I have added more data packages but that hasnt solved the issue, i still have no internet. I use my phone for work alot and need to have internet the remainder of the month. Can someone please tell me how to go about getting internet on my phone until my plan renews in two weeks.

With the iPhone can you please go into Settings, General, Scroll to the bottom and tap on Reset, then do reset network settings. This will not delete any of your personal information. When adding folders to iTunes 11, they don't show up in the library. On one folder add, it created a playlist (not what I wanted). On the second folder, it shows nothing. Never seen this before. Advice?

I added my first folder of MP3s and it created a playlist, but didn't show up in the library. When adding a second folder, it didn't show up anywhere. I can do a search for them in the search window, and it finds/plays them, but I want to be able to browse them in my library. These are not MP3s downloaded from iTunes, but are personal files located on my hard drive. Can anyone help?

I have a Dell that's running Windows XP. I have found that itunes is very temperamental. this works most of the time... except on my son's computer that's running Windows Vista.
Go to your library in iTunes. Then go up to file and try one of the options (import, add folder to library, or add file to library).
Adding a folder is the least work. You can add all the files from a folder with one click... if it works. Remember that itunes is temperamental.
If that doesn't work, try adding a file. The problem with that is that you have to go through the whole process for each and every file (song, movie, etc).
Sometimes the only thing that works is to import.
I haven't gotten iTunes to work on my son's computer (Windows Vista).
I can't get support from apple in any way at all! They are good about creating electronics that appeal to us But they are lousy at support. If anyone figures out how to access support (where you can actually contact Apple) please let me know ([email protected]). I've been trying for 6 months.

Adding New Data To Same Page - HELP

I am trying to put together a invoice on the fly, the products are added to the invoice by selecting the disired product from a drop down menu and hitting the add button. You SHOULD then be able to select more products from the same drop down menu and htting add again will include it in the invoice.... simple?? Well the problem i have is that when i hit the add button to add another item it just replaces the one i have already added.... this is very annoying... i cannot think of a way to take the product data through the form submission ready for adding too.
Any Ideas this is really bugging me, and the more time i spend on it, the worse its getting. Code Below

Put a breakpoint and try to debug the report step by step.
You will findout the reason very easily.
Whenever you have a select and are trying to append into an internal table, keep checking your internal table if it is been populated with the correct records.
This way, you will findout the cause and can correct is accordingly.
