Adding color for path

Hi,
I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS 5.
While doing a cutout using the Pen tool, I'm finding it difficult to follow the path, as the path line is too thin, does CS 5 gives any option of adding color to the path so that we can track as we use the Pen tool.
Thanks

Whenever I have to manually trace vector paths on top of something using the pen tool I'll often work on a dummy image converted to grayscale and then to a duotone.
The idea behind this is making the blacks in the guide image not black at all. I'll make a grayscale scan of something like hand drawn letters or something else I sketched. I go to Image>Mode>Duotone. I'll choose "Custom" on the preset menu and "Monotone" for the number of inks. Just click on the ink color and choose some sort of medium, colored value. I like to trace paths over an earthy orange color. Name the ink color some kind of nonsense like "pookie" or whatever. It doesn't matter.
Your pen tool paths will show up very easily over this kind of artwork.
Duotone images typically must be saved in Photoshop format. If you want to work on the image elsewhere, you can simply convert it to RGB or CMYK by going to the Image>Mode flyout menu. Then you can save the dummy image as a TIFF or JPEG. Or you can even paste it as a layer to show/hide in your primary Photoshop layout. This recipe may sound a little complicated but it's really very easy.

    Adding support for FXG 2.0 additional blend modes that do not have a SWF equivalent. For the optimized FXG case, we now generate an ActionScript SymbolClass and set the corresponding blend shader. This requires checking in the additional shader classes and PBJ files, but note we do not yet use them in MXML graphics.
    Note: This change does not address luminosity masks.
    QE notes: Please update FXG opt. testsuites for additional blendModes.

    Sorry about that. I am not exactly sure where the problem is, but I know it takes place after I put the <nav> in (in the html portion). If I understand what I am learning, the CSS at the top will structure my html code so I would have thought the CSS tageting my nav would be the focus. Maybe it is a different section though.

  • Adding listeners for instances on other frames

    I'm trying to create a very standard menu, the type where there are links on each page that links to each other. So far I've put each menu page on a separate frame (total around 35 frames), and each link as its own instance/class. Originally I planned to create an array containing all the links like this:
    var menuLinks:Array =
                                //Main menu - frame 1
                                menuRightSide.newStoryLink,
                                menuRightSide.continueStoryLink,
                                menuRightSide.selectChapterLink,
                                menuRightSide.optionsLink,
                                menuRightSide.charactersLink,
                                menuRightSide.aboutLink,
                                //chapters menu - frame 2
                                menuRightSide.chapter1,
                                menuRightSide.chapter2,
                                menuRightSide.chapter3,
                                menuRightSide.chapter4,
                                menuRightSide.chapter5,
                                //characters - frame 3
                                menuRightSide.char1,
                                menuRightSide.char2,
                                menuRightSide.char3,
                                menuRightSide.char4,
                                menuRightSide.char5,
                                menuRightSide.char6,
                                //options - frame 4
                                menuRightSide.languageLink,
                                menuRightSide.costumeLink,
                                //function links - these exist on MULTIPLE frames/pages, eg options, characters, chapters all have backToMainLink
                                menuRightSide.backToMainLink,
                                menuRightSide.backToCharLink,
                                menuRightSide.backToOptionsLink,
                                menuRightSide.backToCostumeLink,
                                ]; //create array of links for menus
                currentPage = "main_menu";
                for each (var links:MovieClip in menuLinks)
                    links.buttonMode = true; //set links to behave like button
                    links.mouseChildren = false; //mouse over does not affect this instance's children
                    links.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, onOver);
                    links.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT, onOut);
                    links.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);
                function onOver(e:MouseEvent):void //apply glow to every link
                    TweenMax.to(e.target, 1, {glowFilter:{color:0xFFFFFF, alpha:1, blurX:10, blurY:10}}); //glow effect
                function onOut(e:MouseEvent):void //remove glow on link on mouse out
                    TweenMax.to(e.target, 1, {glowFilter:{color:0xFFFFFF, alpha:0, blurX:0, blurY:0, remove:true}}); //remove glow
                function onClick(e:MouseEvent):void
                    currentPage = e.target.name;
                    if (e.target.name == "newStoryLink") { //if click newStoryLink
                        delegate.beginStory();
                    } else if (e.target.name == "optionsLink") { //if click optionsLink
                        TweenLite.to(menuRightSide, 0.2, {alpha:0, onComplete:menuRightSide.gotoAndStop, onCompleteParams:[45]}); //go to frame 45, options screen
                        TweenLite.to(menuRightSide, 0.2, {alpha:1, delay:0.2});
                    } else if (e.target.name == "charactersLink") { //if click charactersLink
                        TweenLite.to(menuRightSide, 0.2, {alpha:0, onComplete:menuRightSide.gotoAndStop, onCompleteParams:[10]}); //go to frame 10, char screen
                        TweenLite.to(menuRightSide, 0.2, {alpha:1, delay:0.2});
                    } else if (e.target.name == "aboutLink") { //if click aboutLink
                        TweenLite.to(menuRightSide, 0.2, {alpha:0, onComplete:menuRightSide.gotoAndStop, onCompleteParams:[180]}); //go to frame 180, about screen
                        TweenLite.to(menuRightSide, 0.2, {alpha:1, delay:0.2});
    Basically adding listener for every link, then simply telling AS what to do when I click the link regardless of what page I'm currently on.
    However the problem is I realized listeners can't be added for links that exist on other frames other than frame 1, because they're null I think until AS flips to that frame.
    So does anyone have an idea on how I should code this? Another challenge is some links (the ones at the bottom of the array) exist on MULTIPLE frames, but perform the exact same thing regardless of which page it was clicked on.
    Thanks.

    I arranged them on separate frames because that way I know exactly what's on each page. If I simply list out all the links on one frame, then it gets extremely messy visually.
    So if I want to add listeners on other frames, how would I do that? I know the pseudo-code:
    on frame 1:
    for (each link on frame 1) {
    link.addEventListener()
    on frame 2:
    for (each link on frame 2) {
    link.addEventListener()
    ... etc
    function onClick(e:MouseEvent):void
                    currentPage = e.target.name;
                    if (e.target.name == "newStoryLink") {
                        delegate.beginStory();
                    } else if (e.target.name == "continueStoryLink") {
                        //do something else

    Well, I can tell you that this kind of error is not OS related, but rather a HW thing.  It happens where there is a general detection of something going wrong.  Sometimes it can happen randomly and might not be an indication of a problem.  But sometimes it can be caused by things that are improperly functioning within the system like bad capacitors.
    Unfortunately I don't really know what to do about such things except give you machine a proper inspection.  But if things are working fine, and continue to do so, I wouldn't worry about it.  If it becomes a regular occurance, then I'd worry.

  • Setting colors for item labels in JFreeChart (WaferMapRenderer)

    Hi,
    first of all, sorry for posting a JFreeChart related posting on this forum, but I didn't get a solution right now (I even didn't find anything useful on the JFreeChart website/forum). Here's my question...
    I'm trying to set the color for item labels in the legend but with no success.
    Here's a code example:
    final JFreeChart chart = ChartFactory.createWaferMapChart(
        "Wafer Map Demo",         // title
        dataset,                  // wafermapdataset
        PlotOrientation.VERTICAL, // vertical = notchdown
        true,                     // legend
        true,                    // tooltips
        false
    WaferMapPlot plot = (WaferMapPlot) chart.getPlot();
    WaferMapRenderer renderer = new WaferMapRenderer();
    renderer.setSeriesItemLabelPaint(0, Color.red);
    renderer.setSeriesItemLabelPaint(1, Color.blue);
    plot.setRenderer(renderer);The default behavior of the WaferMapRenderer is also strange because the item label as well as the item marker is painted black so you cannot distinguish different fields of the wafer map. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong (or missing somehting)?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and best regards,
    - Stephan

    Your folder action script doesn't work because of one simple error:
    set label index of every item of entire contents of processFolder to 7
    Nowhere in your script is 'processFolder' defined, so AppleScript has no idea what you're trying to do.
    Given that you (correctly) iterate through added_items, the correct format would be:
    on adding folder items to this_folder after receiving added_items
      repeat with item_ in added_items
        tell application "Finder"
          set label index of item_ to 7
        end tell
      end repeat
    end adding folder items to
    In other words, this changes the label index of each item just added.
    That should work provided you're dropping files into this folder. If you're dropping folders then this would set the label index of the folder itself, but not necessarily the items within that folder. For that you'd need to add a check to see if item_ was a folder and add code to handle folders.
    Also note that this kind of folder action will only work on the folder itself - that is, if you have folder A that contains subfolder B, then dropping a file into subfolder B won't trigger the script and won't change that item's label. To do that you'd have to attach your folder action to subfolder B.

  • Visual Foxpro (VFP): Background color for ResizeCanvas - how?

    I'm using Visual Foxpro to automate certain tasks with photoshop.
    I can open an image file, save it as something else, extend the canvas, but I cannot set the color for the canvas that gets added.
    Somewhere in the application model for Photoshop (CS) must be an object property to set the background color to some kind of value representing for example a certain grey.
    Has anybody worked with this
    General approach in my VFP-Code:
    PUBLIC oPhotoshop
    oPhotoshop = CREATEOBJECT( "Photoshop.Application" )
    oJPEGSaveOptions = CREATEOBJECT("Photoshop.JPEGSaveOptions")
    oJPEGSaveOptions.quality = 8
    lnNewH = 800
    docRef.resizeCanvas(lnNewH ,lnNewH ,5) && 5 = extend to all sides with active background color
    docRef.SAVEAS(lcfilename2, oJPEGSaveOptions, .F.)

    This sounds like more of a scripting question than a SDK question, so in JavaScript I would do something like this:
    // retrieve the current background color
    var oldColor = new SolidColor();
    oldColor = app.backgroundColor;
    // create a new SolidColor object and assign a color value
    var newColor = new SolidColor();
    newColor.rgb.red = 100; //or whatever red value you want
    newColor.rgb.green = 150; //ditto green
    newColor.rgb.blue = 200; //ditto blue
    // set the Application backgroundColor property to the new color
    app.backgroundColor = newColor;
    // do what you gotta do!
    // set the Application's backgroundColor back to it's old value
    app.backgroundColor = oldColor;
    I'm not familiar with using Visual FoxPro as an IDE... If you're using VBA scripting, the syntax will be a little different - but the procedure should be the same. I hope this helps.

  • Plot different colors for thresholds above, in range, and below

    I am working on a project that reads data from a com port and graphs the data.  For one set of data, I need to check to see if the data is above/below a threshold.  I would like the color for the data that is in between the upper and lower thresholds to be a certain color, and the data that is above or below to be to be a different color than the safe range.  I have figured out how to get either the above or below to work but not at the same time.  Here is an example vi that depicts what I have done so far but is simplified to the extent you do not need to receive any data.  Any help on this would be appreciated.

    I add some code to your solution using the same principle (adding NAN-lines)
    How many colors you want? Just add thresholds in the array
    Still room for improvements
    look, there are gaps between the lines, and the -10 should be -INF

    Hi All,
    I need to create a set of default colors for bar charts instead of the default ones. I dont want to change the colors in palette.xml file because there are other charts depending on the default colors. Is there a way I can create a new class that I can define in the Custom CSS class section. I am working on obiee 10g
    Thanks,
    Kavya

    To force automatic wrapping as a function of the coordinate x (as opposed to a ctrl-enter), I modified the WrapApp( ) as follows: i) added a keyListener to the JTextPane component:
          edit.addKeyListener(new java.awt.event.KeyAdapter() {
             public void keyPressed(java.awt.event.KeyEvent evt) {
                editKeyPressed(evt);
          });and, added the following listener:
       private void editKeyPressed(KeyEvent evt) {
          try {
             int dot = edit.getCaret().getDot();
             Rectangle cc = edit.modelToView(dot);
             System.out.println("CTP: " + dot + ", (x, y): (" + cc.x + ", " + cc.y + ")");
             if (evt.getKeyCode() == 8) {
                return;
             if (cc.x > 100) {
                insertLineBreak(); // as shown in the reference provided earlier
          } catch (BadLocationException ex) {
       }The behavior is fine as it automatically wraps and it outputs:
    CTP: 0, (x, y): (3, 3)
    CTP: 1, (x, y): (10, 3)
    CTP: 2, (x, y): (17, 3)...
    However, if I add change the component orientation edit.applyComponentOrientation(ComponentOrientation.RIGHT_TO_LEFT), the x-coordinate is shot to its positive limit and all printed characters are no longer visible! The output now is:
    CTP: 0, (x, y): (32770, 3)
    CTP: 2, (x, y): (32763, 3)
    CTP: 4, (x, y): (32756, 3)...
    Any idea how to fix that the x-coordinate is within limits (e.g., it should be bounded by the size of the editor pane)?
    Thank you.

    There is actually code in the base class that tests for
    whether the (extended) class implements the interface, so you don't
    need to add any methods - the interface itself is used as a "marker
    interface". Try setting the focusEnabled property to true as well
    (if you haven't already).
    If none of this works, have a look at the source of the
    canvas class - from within flexBuilder, hold down Ctrl and click on
    the reference to Canvas in your class (extends...). This should
    open the source in your editor and you can search for "focus" and
    probably find our where it's going wrong.
