Adding / deleting audio tracks causes crash

Has anyone experienced this ? I'm troubleshooting a large project and not sure yet if it has been corrupt. Tried to delete audio tracks to streamline session and instead it crashes. Opening a logic template or another session all together works as it should.

Think I fixed problem. Went into environment, selected a channel then a message came up saying, Warning selected environment objects have an unknown or illegal format. Please delete and create them again. So I did as told then created a new channel to playback a sample and its repeated regions. Since then I could delete and add tracks without crashing. I think recording onto an audio object originally created in Logic 7 that was part of the template I loaded up into Logic 8 may have caused the illegal format error.

Is there a way to delete audio tracks before you put them in the time line? Material I have has about 16 tracks with nothing there from a film transfer and they seriously get in the way when all I need is picture.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 Synchronize audio deletes audio track

I have a 2 camera shoot that has a clapper slate marker before each take.  I recently tried to use the synchronize function in PP2014 to align the camera takes.  This didn't work, in fact it deleted one tracks audio and gave an offset number to the video track who's audio had just been deleted.  I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if I am doing something wrong?  My current system is a Mac Pro, OS 10.9.4 and I am running Premiere Pro CC2014 vers 8.0.1. Attached are photos of the process I used.
Option selected the two audio tracks
    Right click, select Synchronize
Select the audio channel to sync to
    Processes away
The result: audio channel 1 has been deleted, and an offset marker added to video track 1.  Video tracks are still not in sync.
So any insight to what I am doing wrong or if it is a software issue would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I'm not experiencing this exact issue -- but have noticed that synchronizing clips in the timeline seems to have gotten worse in the 2014 update.  It used to be that I could synchronize 2 cameras, plus audio from an external recorder, and Premiere would do it successfully about 95% of the time.
Now Premiere 2014 (8.0.1) seems be having a lot of trouble with the same task, often taking one of the camera angles and moving it way down the timeline for seemingly no reason.

  • Why are multiple audio tracks causing one of the track levels to increase automatically when the other doesn't have an audio file in it?

So I'm editing an interview and during subtitle sequences in the interview where there is no audio in the interview audio track, the levels automatically rise in the background music track.  Here's an illustration of my problem...
    http://i58.tinypic.com/2rh3atf.jpg
I also troubleshooted by clicking the Solo button on the background music track and the music plays at the elevated level the whole way through when it's set to be the only track to play.  So for some reason, the interview audio track (when it's playing sound) is causing the background music track to decrease in level.  I get the same thing on exports.  Why is Premiere messing with my levels automatically?  No phone or chat support so I'm left asking the forums, thanks for the great customer service Adobe.

    Hi Richard,
Appreciate you taking the time to help out.  There are absolutely no effects whatsoever on the audio or video tracks.

  • Funny two audio tracks causing me grief I don't understand

somehow, I've got two ghost like audio tracks under my normal audio track that are causing funny things to happen when I encode. you can see what I mean by the attached picture with audio 2 and audio 3.
Specifically, when I leave these tracks enabled, everything sounds correct when I play back, but when I double speed the playback, the voice falls apart.
    Any idea?

is that normal to have blank tracks like that? did something get corrupted?
    Yes, no.
Specifically, when I leave these tracks enabled,
everything sounds correct when I play back, but when
I double speed the playback, the voice falls apart.
Having empty audio tracks in the Timeline
would not be the cause this problem.

  • Adding extra audio tracks to an mp4 movie file?

I'm new to using iMovie or similar programs for converting/merging video and audio, so any help that steers me in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
I made an mp4 file of a movie, and want to add an audio track to the mp4 file. The audio track is an mp3 file. However, in order for me to have the new audio track sync up with the video, I need the audio track to start playing before the movie begins. Please note that I'm not interested in burning this to a DVD; I just want a new mp4 file with the extra audio track.
    With this in mind:
    1) What program would be best for merging an mp3 file with an mp4 video file, plus adding extra time to the video in order to accommodate the extra time in the audio track? I have iMovie HD 6.0.3, and the latest version of Handbrake, unless another program is better for this task.
    2) What steps do I need to perform to merge the two files? I'm having trouble figuring out how to do this in Handbrake, and importing the mp4 file in iMovie will take forever.
As I said, I'm new to using these programs, so if you need me to clarify anything, please ask and I'll do my best to help out. Thanks!

QuickTime Player Pro ($30) can do the job in just a few seconds. Its .mov container can have up to 99 tracks.
Open the .mp4 file, select all and Copy.
Switch to the .mp3 file, move the playhead to the needed start point and paste in the entire .mp4 file.
The hardest part is a pencil and paper to note the time of each file to find the proper insertion point.

  • Why would an audio track cause a video glitch?

I have a 1080 60p clip with no audio.  If I create a sequence based on that clip, add a wav file to an audio track, then export using the H.264 60p custom preset with audio multiplexing to an .m2t everything looks fine.    However, if I export using the H.264 Blu-ray preset, 720p, 59.94, multiplexed, to an .m2t file the video has some stutters towards the end.   If I remove the audio track and do the same export, still muxed, the video is fine in 720p.   I get the same result if I start with a 720p sequence (i.e. addition of audio causes video glitch).
Edit: tried a different audio file, this time .mp3, same problem.
Edit: importing the muxed 60p export with audio, then exporting as noted in 720p has the same issue.
Comments?   Let me know if what I'm describing isn't clear.

Hi Jim - understood in an ideal world one would have source video footage, sequence, and output target all the same.  Is it not common though for folks to have situations where there is more than one target output?
Anyway, I think I have a tree covering both roads if I understand your analogy.  What is wrong with the following picture?  I took the original 1080 60p clip, dragged it into a 720p 59.94 sequence, exported the video only.  The exported video looks just fine in this case.  I even tried different formats (Matrox MPEG I-Frame HD, H.264 Blu-ray muxed and not).  It is all good.
Next I imported the aformentioned no issue video that is in 720 59.94 into a sequence that matches then exported to a matching format.   No issue with the resultant video.   Is this scenario not what you mentioned?   Start with video that matches the sequence and target output?
However, if I add an audio track, the video has some flashing/stuttering at the end particularly towards the top.   Why would exporting with or without an audio track in the above scenario make a difference?
In case it matters, the video came from a modified After Effects template.  I don't own AE and paid another guy to modify the template.  I will go back and ask him to render in 720p 59.94.  Still, the above just doesn't seem right.

  • Deleting Audio Tracks independently

new to FCP, as my question shows.
How can I delete audio from a track without the rest of the audio shifting over.
I know how to lock the Video track and separate that. I just don't want the rest of the audio to move.
    Thanks for your time!

The key marked in red above will delete and leave a gap where the audio or video track was.
The key marked in blue will delete and ripple.

  • Adding Menue Audio Track selection and soubtitles on/off

    Hi,
with some help from replies to other questions I managed to get a working DVD/BR with cool 2.0 / 5.1 sound and subtitles.
But for now I do have to select the audio track manually and also I do have to enable subtitles from the DVD/BR players menu.
So I wanted to add a DVD/BR menu where you can choose the audio track which should be played and to switch on and of subtitles.
I edited a nice PS PSD File with some buttons and they show up in Encore and I can do some "encore" editig like moving tham arrond or link to some other elements.
My question: How do I get e.g. the Button "2.0 Stereo" to select the stereo track and the button "5.1 Surround" to select the 5.1 track. An other button should switch on/off the right subtitle
Than I'd like to have a button which starts the video with the selected audio and if selected subtitle on.
At the end of the movie I like to be back in the menu.
    I bet thats simple
I thought to create different timelines and add the audio/video/subtitle, but that i have a lot of timelines in all sort of combinations; e.g. video ON, 5.1 sound ON, subtitle OFF ..... video ON, 2.0 sound ON, subtitle ON etc ....
Thansk for any suggestion . and BIG thanks. Götz

Thanks for your posting, but there is the higlight  Layer.
I opend the menue in photoshot once more and enabled the layers.
For me a button has the following different states:
Normal, no highlight, just "plain" text. e.g. "English Subtitle". in that state, the Subtitle is NOT selected/enabled.
Mouse Over, the highlight shows up, so you can see where you are with your mouse. e.g. "English Subtitle √"
Mouse left click, the highlight "sticks" to the menue item and when moving the mouse avay it is still highlighted, e.g.  "English Subtitle √"
So I'd liked to indicate which audio track is enabled/selected and if subtitles are off or on.
I thought, the highlight button states are markend with (=1) & (=3) ....
BTW. in encore menue edit mode, if I click the show selected/activated Subpicture Highlight, the right layer shows up (with my √-symbol)
But in preview mode or on a burned dvd this did not work

  • Adding Multiple audio tracks

    Hi people.
How can I add multiple Audio tracks on a video which then can be switched on a DVD remote control?
    Please help.
    thanks in advance.
    J.

    jagthandi,
I agree with you on the separate purchase of Encore. It's a great authoring program. Until CS3, it was sold as a stand-alone, though was also included in the CS2 Production Studio, which is how I came by it. Adobe began integrating it more and more closely to Premiere Pro, so that became more of a "module," than a stand-alone. As of CS3 it only came bundled with P-Pro. Good on one hand, but not so good, on the other. Having used it for many years now, I would be loathe to use any other authoring application.
It seems that Sony has done similar with their DVD Architect Pro, only bundling it with Vegas Pro.
What this means is that there are now few full-featured authoring applications in an affordable price range. DVD Studio Pro being one of the few, and its interface is not as clean as Encore's. It offers potentially more power, but you have to do some basic programming to use that power. At the top of the list is Sonic Scenarist, but at around US$50K, complete, it's not really an option. Also, its interface takes years to learn.
So very glad that I have Encore2. I will likely never part with that program, as it does 99% of what I would ever want from an authoring application. That last 1% can usually be done with some creative workarounds.

  • Adding multiple audio tracks to a multicam file

I am editing a multi cam production- and have 8 different audio tracks- separate from the movie files. I have made a multi cam file but any ideas on how to add all 8 tracks of audio to this multi cam file- then edit- and then question no. 2: how do I then export all edited audio tracks separately for my sound engineer to mix them? Thanks a lot

Hi Tom- thanks for your response   I´m not quite sure if you get me right... I have made a multicam file- consisting of 4 cameras- and now I want to add 8 audio tracks that are not connected to any of the cameras- but that were recorded seperately- and have all these 8 tracks lying underneath all the camera angles- being synced up with the cameras internal mics- but I want to edit the 8 audio tracks and finally export them. Thanks

  • Adding multiple audio tracks to slideshow

Just wondering if it's possible to add more than 1 audio track to a single slide show.
If not, is there a way in which I can combine different audio tracks and make one file out of multiple songs?
That way I could at one track to my slide show, containing a couple of songs I would like to be heard along with the photos.
    Thanks

First off, I am still using iMovie and iDVD version 4, so Apple may have changed stuff around from version 4 to version 6. But in general, I have the customize "drawer" open on the left of the screen. I then pick Media on the top and the pull down under that should be "Audio" (the other two choices being Photos and Movies).
I then have two windows below for iTunes. The top window shows all the playlists and the selection for "Library" which is for all songs. The bottom window shows the songs in the selection you picked above (everything if you selected Library or just the songs in a particular playlist).
The middle bar between the two windows has a little DOT you can grab and drag up or down see make either window larger, so if you don't see much of the top screen, grab it and make the top screen larger.
So first question is, do you see what I described above? And shown below?

  • Delete audio tracks

I have 30 short clips each with audio in a bin to be used as cutaways. How is the audio removed so not to overwrite audio tracks on the Timeline?
    Thanks.

Either Lock your audio tracks to prevent audio from being placed on the timeline by clicking on the locks:
or un-patch the audio flowing from the viewer to the timeline by clicking on the track number so that they separate and there is a gap between them:

  • Overlapping audio clips cause crashes

I have been stumped for days as to why my iMovie 6 project will not export to quicktime, camera, iDVD....nothing but garageband. Finally I decided to try exporting piece by piece to "full quality" dv files (dont be fooled by the name-these are compressed). I isolated the one clip which was causing iMovie to crash and it turned out there was an overlap in the main audio traack. I think that this had been created by doing a "cross-dissolve" transition. deleting one of the two overlapping track segments fixed the export problem.
now I can proceed with my impossibly sluggish project. I am going to try exporting to camera, then re-importing to see if it becomes a little snappier to work with.
    Cheers
    Dimitri

Good sleuthing! Thanks for that feedback.
Finally I decided to try exporting piece by piece to "full quality" dv files
(dont be fooled by the name-these are compressed).
Actually, the "full quality" export is exactly the same format has your project. There is no additional compression or loss of quality. The TYPE of Full Quality movie you get depends on the type of project it is. Each type of iMovie HD project exports to a Full Quality movie of its own type.
If yours is a "DV" type iMovie project, then your Full Quality movie won't look great played in QuickTime until its High Quality playback setting is turned on. Unless it is, you're not seeing all the quality that's there. QuickTime Pro is required to control all the playback settings of that type of movie. Absent that, if you have QuickTime 7 turn on the QuickTime Player preference General > "Use high quality video setting when available". The movie still will be a different aspect ratio, but it will look a lot better.
Note this is a playback setting only, which does NOT affect the quality of the movie itself.
It's called "Full Quality" not because it looks great, but because it retains all the quality of the original video. You can use a Full Quality movie to move video from one project to another with no loss of quality.
