Adding HTTP server to OAS instance

Hello,
We are using OAS10.1.2 for forms and reports.
Now, we would like to use 5 different set of forms like this:
set forms1 --> /forms1
set forms2 --> /forms2
etc...
In the same time the URL for the end users are different as well.
my question is:
What is the best way the setup this kind of OAS server ?
Thanks in advance
Youssef

You can do this all in a single Forms installation.
We did this by configuring five sections in the formsweb.cfg. If each set of Forms has a single directory, just specify a different value for the workingDirectory parameter for each configuration section.
If you need multiple directories, you probably have to create five copies of the default.env file. Specify a different .env file in the envFile property of each configuration section. In the specific .env files set a different FORMS_PATH for each configuration.
Now run the Forms by specifying config=forms1 or config=forms2 in the URL to call Oracle Forms, e.g.:
http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet?config=intern-local

  • Directory selection for Discoverer applet on HTTP Server

    Hi
    I installed Discoverer 3i on NT SP4
My http server is OAS 4.0.8.1
I tried single machine install and while providing the directory for Discoverer applet on HTTP Server i gave a directory which is not root directory for OAS
How do i set virtual path so that discoverer may be configured in my http server (OAS)
    What are the steps?
    Thanks

Go to the Directories section in OAS. You will already have virtual directories set for OAS. Use one of these as an example.

  • OAS Component - HTTP Server

    Hi All,
My group has an old web-based application using Servlet 2.0 specs that needs to be migrated to Servlet 2.3+ specs. The Servlet 2.0 specs does not have a concept of webapp context. Therefore, this application has hard-coded a lot of URL, which assume it is using the "/" root context.
Since the "/" root context in HTTP server may be used by other applications, it may be better to create another HTTP Server component.
The OAS 9i and 10g do not allow administrators to add another HTTP Server using the web-based EM.
Instead of creating virtual hosts based on port number, is there a way to create multiple HTTP Server components on a OAS middle-tier instance?
Does it make sense to create a multiple HTTP Server components managed by DCM?
    Thanks.

    Stefan,
Yes, I am planning to use a Cisco CSS loadbalancer to load request to multiple OAS instances on several hosts.
Also, I am looking into OracleAS Cluster based on DB repository. I hope to use the OAS cluster for management and configuration for multiple OAS instnaces (i.e. all J2EE/WebCache instances on separate hosts). However, I have found that the OAS cluster behaves very differently than what I have thought.
Here are what I have done:
    1. Create an OAS cluster with two J2EE/WebCache instances in similar hosts. (Both instances have exactly the same OAS components, HTTP Server and OC4J).
    2. On host1, create a new OC4J component called "OC4J_Dev1".
    3. On host1, deploy a J2EE application (i.e. helloworld.ear) to "OC4J_Dev1" component. (The helloworld.ear has only 1 web-app).
    Here are the results:
    1. I am able to access the helloworld webapp on the browser (e.g. http://host1/helloworld/helloworld.jsp ).
    2. I am unable to see the "OC4J_Dev1" component on the host2, which is belong to the same OAS cluster as host1.
    3. I am unable to access the host2's helloworld web-app (e.g. http://host2/helloworld/helloworld.jsp ).
All the hosts and ports are correct. I expect the OAS cluster will distribute the host1 configuration to host2.
Do you know of any good reference of the OAS cluster? I am trying to look through the OAS documentation.
    Thanks.

  • Using a Single HTTP Server for Multiple APEX Instances

Our company's DBA Manager has asked if it would be possible to externalize the HTTP server portion of APEX from the DB Servers. In other words, he would strongly prefer that the DB Servers *only* run Oracle Database software.
We know that we can install the HTTP server on another box but, in thinking about how to do this, we were wondering if it is really necessary to create a separate HTTP server installation for each APEX instance. What we'd really like to do is have one HTTP server for all our our Dev boxes and several (but, not one to one) for each of our upper environments; staging, qa, prod, etc.
Right now, each instance have a single dads.conf file on each DB box. So, if we we're to attempt to consolidate them, we'd need some way to embed multiple dads files and to associate each instance with the correct one.
Has anyone ever done this or (preferably) have some examples?
    Thanks,
    -Joe

    Joe,
I don´t know a specific reference for it, I remembered it because when I was looking the documentation on the site, I saw the reference "Support for multiple database connections" in the URL: APEX Listener New Features 2.0</title><meta name="Title" content="APEX Listener New Features 2.0…
I´ve tried to use APEX listener some time ago, but in a earlier version together with glassfish. So, since for me was only one database, I created the necessary amount of DAD´s on my database, each one for a specific port.
Check the link and you´ll see the same information I saw.
    Thanks.

    hi Jay,
i face the same problem for the web service and after reading your thread i've check that the ECC XI web service is already active in SICF

  • APEX OAS HTTP SERVER etc

    Hi
I'm not clear on architecture - for 10g Enterprise Edition, if I want to install APEX do I have to have an application server or can I just install the http server on the same box as the database? Is there anything wrong with this on a system that is pretty intensive database wise but will probably only ever have 3 or 4 apex users hitting the application?
Are there any diagrams of the different options available in the Oracle docs as I have not been able to find one?
    Cheers
    Phil

For a quick and dirty 'evaluation', you might think about these points.
You don't need OAS, and that is not the standard Apex installation, although you can use it if you like. Configuration is similar to OHS once OAS is installed and running, although there are more 'moving parts' to OAS, and therefore could be considered more complex.
OHS and the embedded gateway are the standard Apex installation options. The embedded gateway means that you make http requests directly to the database machine. You cannot separate it from the database server. OHS can be installed on a different machine or the same machine as the database. Your choice there.
If you're looking for simplicity and a single machine installation, try the embedded gateway. If you want to separate the web server from the database, go OHS. Personally, I would not bother with OAS.

  • Add http server instance to 10g

    Hi all,
I have installed oracle application server 10g. But the http server instance is 0. How do I add the HTTP server instance?
This is what I get in the EM console.
    Hosts 1 Application Servers 1
    OC4J Instances 1 HTTP Server Instances 0
    Thanks

    "6838",
It appears like this may be an issue with your environment variables. When opmnctl is attempting to startup, is ORACLE_HOME set to to your new Companion CD Oracle Home? As well, can you ensure that you don't have the environment variable ORA_NLS33 set to an old location (it's unlikely this is even set, but it's worth checking).

  • Oracle HTTP server with multiples apex instances

It is possible to have an Oracle HTTP server installed in a diferente machine,
and apex Installed on databases there are in diferent machines?
Or it would be necessary to install one HTTP server for each APEX instance?
    For instance:
    Machine 3
    ___________DATABASE A
    Machine 1 Machine 2 /
WEB BROWSER -----------> HTTP SERVER /
    \ Machine 4
    \___________DATABASE B

Yes, you can define multiple DADs - pointing to different machines/APEX instances - in one OHS instance.

  • Oracle HTTP Server: diff. between ajp13 and "instance"?

In the Oracle HTTP Server documentation, you can mount a path to an ajp13 destination, or an "instance" destination. What exactly is the difference between the two?

The white paper "mod_oc4j: A Technical Overview" gives more details - http://technet.oracle.com/products/ias/ohs/collateral/r2/mod_oc4j_wp.pdf.
Having said that, an ajp destination could be a specific process, an oc4j instance (a collection of oc4j processes that have identical configuration), and a cluster (a collection of 9iAS instances with identical configuration).
This and the specific examples of instance:// and cluster:// usage are explained in the above white paper.

  • HTTP server on Oracle 11g R1 and apex listener

I have installed APEX 4.0.1 on Oracle 11g R1 and things went well until the installation of the APEX listener.
    - I followed the installation guide and I opted for the basic connection type but I found the following message:
the network adapter could not establish the connection
I then checked my services and i noted that i had only four services which are:
    - OracleDBConsoleORCL
    - OracleJobSchedulerORCL
    - OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener
    - OracleServiceORCL
And there is no oracle HTTP server as I had for oracle 9.2 on another machine.
Can Anybody help on this ?
thanks in advance for your help,
    Pierre

    Hi Pierre,
as Tony posted, you usually chose the APEX Listener to access your APEX instance by using a J2EE container (like OAS/OC4J, Oracle WebLogic, Sun Glassfish) rather than using OHS+mod_plsql. So you'd need to search for the service that comprises the J2EE container to which you deployed the war-File for the APEX Listener.
So as it seems you did not deploy to an existing J2EE container (you would not the proper URL...) you probably want to use the embedded web container of the APEX Listener. This container does not register any service and is started on demand.
If you deployed to an existing J2EE container, use its access scheme ( PROTOCOL://HOST:PORT/CONTEXT ) to access the APEX Listener, where CONTEXT is defaulted to apex if you stick to the installation manual. Remember to configure the APEX Listener after deployment via PROTOCOL://HOST:PORT/CONTEXT/listenerConfigure , as described in the installation manual.
Please follow the installation manual for the APEX Listener thoroughly to configure that instance and get the right port to access the service on the machine on which you started that embedded container, probably your localhost.

  • Sql server with multiple instance

    hi  All,
i want  to  install sql server with two instance   and i want  to assign two  separate is  ips   for  both   default instance  and named  instance   and  both   should  work like
    two different server
note:  If i  logged  with  one  ip(default instance)   it should  show  its  own  databases  not both or  named   instance  databases
    thanks
     chintala

    Hi chintala,
According to your description, if you want to assign the two different IP to stand for default instance
and named  instance, I recommend you set up aliases on a SQL Server with multiple instances. For example, a physical server is named WinServer and 2 instances of SQL Server named WinServer and WinServer\instance1.
We need to add 1 IP addresse to the WinServer, there is one IP address already assigned to WinServer, 192.168.1.1, by adding one new IP's, 192.168.1.2 .
We need to move into DNS to configure our host names and aliases.  The physical machine must be steup as a static IP in DNS. SQLAlias1, which point to the default instance on WinServer, will be setup as a DNS with an address of 192.168.1.1.
SQLAlias2, which will point to WinServer\Instance1, will be setup as a new Host (A) record in DNS with an address of 192.168.1.2.
When everything has been completed on the DNS side, you need to open up SQL Server Configuration Manager on WinServer and configure the protocols for each instance one at a time, restart the 3 SQL services.
For more information about how to set up aliases on a SQL Server with multiple instances, you can review the similar article.

What cert is used by your admin server ? It should match the host name.
So your Dev machine is apparently using a copy of the prod cert / keystore rather than using its own DEV cert. It's not clear from your post whether this is the nodemanager using the wrong cert, or the managed server. So both should be checked.
The managed servers need to be using a cert that matches their host name. If you have a managed server on VM-BEA-DEV, then the cert needs to be CN=VM-BEA-DEV. You can also use a load-balancer CN name in the cert if you have the cluster's HTTP values set to match.
In your nodemanager.properties, are you explicitly accessing keystores, such as with:
    KeyStores=CustomIdentityAndJavaStandardTrust
    CustomIdentityAlias=some_alias
    CustomIdentityKeyStoreFileName=some_path_to_keystore
    CustomIdentityKeyStorePassPhrase={3DES}...
    CustomIdentityKeyStoreType=jks
    CustomIdentityPrivateKeyPassPhrase={3DES}
In my multi-machine clusters, I have multiple certificates such as:
    admin machine1:
has a cert for use by the admin server and NM that matches the host name ( with node manager.properties entries such as the above )
has a 2nd cert that matches the load-balancer name for the cluster - used by the managed servers
    all other machines:
has a cert for use by NM that matches the host name ( with node manager.properties entries such as the above )
has a 2nd cert that matches the load-balancer name for the cluster - used by the managed servers

  • 10g: HTTP Server and OC4J on different servers?

Can anyone assist with configuring HTTP Server and OC4J on different servers?
I installed AS 10g on both; our application runs fine on one server, with the HTTP Server and OC4J both on the same box.
I need to also test this with the HTTP Server on a separate box.
    I added this to mod_ocj4.conf:
    Oc4jMount /indox-qa1
    instance://cvodev2:oas_dev2.cvodev2.int.sys.com:indox-qa1
    Oc4jMount /indox-qa1/*
    instance://cvodev2:oas_dev2.cvodev2.int.sys.com:indox-qa1
But when I try to access something like http://cvodev4/indox-qa1 I get this in the logs:
[Wed Jul 06 16:54:10 2005] [warn] [client 10.1.1.231] [ecid: 1120683250:192.152.136.127:1248:1544:1,0] MOD_OC4J_0184: Failed to find an oc4j process for destination: instance://cvodev2.int.camsys.com:oas_dev2.cvodev2.int.camsys.com:indor-qa1

I did some ethernet sniffing and it doesn't look to me like the OHS box is even trying to contact the OC4J box.
Is there more configuration I need to do beyond this?
    Thanks,

    hi user11159690
    Maybe this can help:
    "Oracle® HTTP Server Administrator's Guide 10g Release 3 (10.1.3) B25211-02"
    "7.32 mod_oc4j"

    Maybe more specifically "Oc4jMount":

  • Installing Apex 4 on Oracle 11.2.0.3 with Oracle HTTP Server on WINDOWS

Has someone put together a cookbook on installing the above? I have tried following the documentation; but it is in dire need of updating. I have become quite confused as to how to piece together alll of the parts. Seemed much easier in 10.2...
    TIA!

TIA!After a database re-install on my Windows 7 laptop 2 months ago I tried to install the HTTP server but had trouble getting it to work. After a day or two I gave up and used the EPG which works with some performance issues - pages can take many seconds to render. I think there is a conflict between the EPG and security software on the laptop but have not been able to pin down the exact problem. Anyway, the EPG is not an option for you and even Oracle does not reccommend it for production implementations. The EPG is okay for quick-and-dirty R & D but real implentation should have something better. I prefer the EPG on my laptop because the Apex listener required an extra window to be open that I was likely to close by mistake (my error yes. Reality is sometimes stupid).
I have had several sucessful installs on older versions of Apex on Oracle 9 and 10 on Windows XP using the HTTP server but always struggle with the configuration; getting the settings in the .conf file (whatever it is called now) correct remains difficult (at least for me). I keep installation notes on problems encountered and their solutions. Typical issues I encounter are
    1. Incorrect configuration file settings
    2. Improper loading of images
    3. Missing installation steps (unlocking ANONYMOUS, for instance, or not updating the PL/SQL version).
    4. Make sure the correct URL is being used
    5. When using the HTTP Server making sure it is running by using its URL is very heplful
Follow the installation instructions for your platform and listener. If something does not work first review the installtion instructions very carefully, then perform web searches for answers to the problem. Except for last time when I lost patience with the HTTP server the installations have always worked.
I also find Windows 7 painful - the added security prevents me from editing needed files without jumping through hoops. I don't even want to think about Windows 8 ...
