Adding Hyperlinks to other projects (Merged)

I am running into an issue with adding Hyperlinks to other projects. I have several projects that I have merged into one Master project. I have generated all the child projects into their corresponding Merged Project folders in the master file. All I am trying to do is link one project to another. So in "Child Project A" I have a hyperlink to "Child Project B". I am linking to a "File" which is Project B's HTML file in the Master Project (Merged Folder). When I do this, I get a message in project A that:
"This action will create an external link to the help system. The link may not function when the help system is moved to other systems. Create link anyway?"
So I create the link and generate Project A, but when I generate the Master Project, the link does not work. How do I fix this? Links that I have to pages within a project work just fine, but not when linked externally even though all the projects linked have been merged within the Master Project.

My link is showing in the HTML like this:
<a href="../../../MasterMerge/mergedProjects/ChildProject2/ChildProject2.htm">test link</a>
Where "MasterMerge" is the name of the folder that I have given to generate the master project to. I was expecting RoboHelp to convert my absolute path to a relative path that looks like this:
<a href="../ChildProject2/ChildProject2.htm">test link</a>
as you suggested. I can't figure out why it is changing my absolute path to a relative path that is so long..and still the link is not working. The work-around for this is that I go into the HTML and just paste in my absolute path. I don't want to continue doing this.
Note that my actual path looks something like this:
Q:\QA\Application Documentation\MasterMerge\mergedProjects\ChildProject2\ChildProject2.htm
Do I have too many folders? If so, I'm not sure what to do about this since my project needs to reside on a specific drive and folder at work that other departments don't have access to.
Thanks for responding! I'm just so frustrated with this because it seems the little details are causing me the most trouble.

Ok I was trying to record it, not working
Make sure that you've copied or saved the pdf files are in the web site folder first
1 insert text,
2 with this text, create a fake link, blue and underline
3 click on Click box in the tools box
4 resize the click box over the fake link, I only keep the hint Type hint here (I deleted the 2 others) and I type Click on the link, in French Cliquez sur le lien
5 click box is still selected, then in the left menu select Action tab
6 In drop-down menu On success select Open url or file
7 Click to browse, click on file or type the url
8 Click on the drop down menu (arrow), click and select New so that way it will opens in a New browser window.
When you export in swf
You will have, at the end of the exportation, to copy paste manually the files in the web folder where is the swf file.
Now we have a new problem. I didn't have this problem with all the projects published, but it happened once. Also, once on the server, the link would not open for that reason, see this blog. Still working on it.

It seems that we can use the below shown VI to add Hyperlinks to a word report,
I initially thought it will only work for HTML reports.

VS 2010 Pro "Other Project Types" / "Setup and Deployment": No items found

Hello,
I have VS 2010 Pro Version 10.0.40219.1 SP1 Rel. I have developed a VB.Net application and would like to deploy it. When I try to add a setup project to the solution, I get "No items found" where a list of project types should be in the "Add New Project"
dialog, "Installed Templates", "Other Project Types", "Setup and Deployment". Shouldn't the Pro version have those templates installed? If so, can I copy them from somewhere? I noticed that "Database" and "Test Projects" also have empty lists. There are lots
of templates available for the various languages.
I tried to modify the VS 2010 installation by adding support for SharePoint, but that did not help. Do I have to uninstall, reboot, and re-install? It's so cumbersome considering that I would need to redo the updates as well.
OS is Win 7 Pro, processor is Intel E8400.

Thanks for your post.
The Setup Project template is located in: Installed Templates >> Other Project Types >> Setup and Deployment >> Visual Studio Installer. Would you please check if the templates exists in this path?
If not, you can follow the steps below to reset your Visual Studio templates:
Please open Windows Explorer, and navigate to <Visual Studio Installation Path>\Common7\IDE
(by default is C:\Program Files \Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE);
Delete the ItemTemplatesCache, ProjectTemplatesCache
folder;
Open Visual Studio Command Prompt (2010) under Start menu -> All Programs -> Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 -> Visual Studio Tools (run it with Administrator privilege: right-click the program -> Run as administrator);
Run the devenv /InstallVSTemplates switch;
Run the devenv /Setup switch.

Substitution not carried out when WBS is added to an existing project......

Hi, I have created a substitution rule to substitute the investment profile in my projects with a blank for any WBS which is not level one. I am not sure why this rule does not take effect immediately a new WBS is included. When I try to carry out the substitution manually, I get the error message 'Error when processing asset under construction (AuC) for WBS element'. Any ideas how I can get this substituion to work when a new WBS is added to an existing project?

You should use the substitution otherway....
I believe your project is in REL status and also you have defaulted IM profile in the project, so whenever you create a WBSE, the IM profile is inherited to the WBSE and since it is in REL status, the system will create an AUC based on your IM profile and now you are using substituition to remove the IM profile so this will cause the problem...Instead of this....try this...do not default IM profile in project, and instead of removing IM profile for all WBSE which is not level 1, use substitution to write IM profile in WBSE which is only level 1.

Creating a report with hyperlinks to other reports in data fields

You can use an interactive object such as a click box placed over the top of a text caption, or a button, to link to the URL. However, these will not strictly-speaking appear identical to hyperlinks.
If you really want to replicate the rollover appearance of a true HTML text hyperlink, then you might consider the Hyperlink widget from Infosemantics:

Button hyperlinks work in project preview but not in published .swf

Captivate 6, button hyperlinks work in project preview but not in published .swf, the cursor changes the “the hand” but the hyperlink does not redirect.
Any ideas?
Like I said my buttons work great in preview mode after publishing, one click and the PDF opens in a new browser window. Open the project through the published .swf files and the links will not work.

Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Once your project published, add the .swf file in Flash Global Setting :
1) Right Click on the content (Published .swf file) and click on Global Settings
2) Go to Advanced Tab and Click on Trusted Location Settings (Scrool down to see this button)
3) Click on "Add" button and then "Add file", browse for the Captivate 6 published file and click on OK
4) Launch the .htm file again (Location where Captivate publish your project)

This dynamic project source feature is going to kill us! We have more than 15,000 files in our projects. Currently, part of them are managed by JDeveloper. Developers have option to load only the files they are working on. If all files in the project source will be loaded automatically, that will definitely be a nightmare to us. The JDeveloper will be frozen from time to time when it start to looking for new files...
Think about why people pick Oracle instead of SQL Server - Oracle is good in handling large data. We, JDeveloper users, sincerely hope JDeveloper team can design/test the JDeveloper on large scaled project before formally release it.

How to access code in other projects?

Hi all,
I ran into an issue in FlexBuilder I'm not sure how to resolve, hopefully someone here can help. I have several projects in my workspace right now I'll call them project A and B. I have one project in particular, call that project C, that needs access to code contained in a couple of other projects, A and B. I don't want to copy all those files from the other projects into this one cause there's a lot of files, it's tedious, and unmaintainable. I don't want to make all those files into a flex library either cause it's not really necessary.
I tried adding the folders in project A and B into the source path of project C but when I tried to import those files it did not work. So does anyone know of a way that I can access code from other projects in the same workspace? If you could provide an example also that would be greatly appreciated.

Additional info: The code complete for the import actually shows me the files in the source path are available. In fact, when I hit F3 it points me to the proper file in the other project. However, FlexBuilder keeps telling me the type was not found or it isn't a compile time constant.

No, ActionScript is not purely OOP, but what is? The only language I know of that is considered "a pure OOP language" is Java. Does that make other languages less good? Definitely not. @ ATIF FAROOQ: I totally agree that it would be nice if the guys at Adobe would implement overloading and not only, abstract classes would be nice too ( and I mean "real abstract classes" like in Java, not workarounds ).
@ Muzak: Totally agree, I said to use a Library mainly because that's what I use most ( beside simply pasting classes from a project into another; I do this occasionally and sometimes when I'm lazy ). In either case, the final goal is achieved: reusability.

Trouble adding photos into iMovie project

In one particular Project, when I try and add still photos, when I drag them into the project window I see the green line and the green 'plus sign', but then the pictures are not actually added...why is it doing this? It works in other Projects, so I'm wondering if it's just a glitch.

I had this problem last year (August-Sept 2007), and I'm having it again now (August 2008). When I import jpeg photos from iPhoto to iMovie, they turn black and are not accessible in iMovie. In addition, this time when I imported several photos, the replay of the iMovie became jerky. When I threw out the photos, the movie became smoother, the way it was originally. There seems to be some sort of bug that has not been fixed in over a year.

Using a photo template in iWeb, I am having trouble adding hyperlinks to photos as well as to the 'captions' beneath the photos... is adding hyperlinks simply not possible in a photo template or available only on selected templates?

Hi Hasan,
You actually don't need any code.
Each project (if you're using PS2010 or 2013) is associated to an EPT (enterprise project type). To each EPT, PDPs are associated. The first PDP associated (you can moved PDPs of an EPT up and down in the EPT configuration from server settings and thus change
the order) will the one displayed when clicking on the project name (as hyperlink by default) in the project center.
Thus the solution is to configure your EPTs to have the Project Detail Page in first position.

Adding hyperlinks to Flash Executable files

I'm using a demo version of Flash 5 to see if I'd like to
invest in a copy of Flash. I added hyperlinked text to to a flash
movie I produced, and when I uploaded the html added to a webpage,
when I click on the hyperlink it successfully takes me to the
correct website. However, when I try clicking on the executable
file version of the same flash movie, published at the same time,
although I get the usual little hand when the put the cursor over
the hyperlink I'm not taken to any webpage.
Can anyone tell me what's going wrong?

Adding hyperlinks to objects in 3D PDF

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to figure out if 3D PDF has the capability to import a number of individual machine models (made in SolidWorks) to create a 3D layout of a facility, and then make it so people viewing this layout can click (or doubleclick) on a machine and have that open a web page (or another .pdf file)...are there javascript routines that get called when one of the objects is clicked/doubleclicked? If so, can that script be used to open up a url?

On second thought, here is the an example code for adding hyperlinks to objects. It will be very tedious to do this for a huge number of parts. If metadata could be stored (no such luck) in the u3d file, this process would be very easy.
