Adding Icons to AIR App?

I could not find much on the web or this form but I am trying add my own desktop icon for my flex/air app.  Only thing I have done so far is to open up the app.xml file and add the following to it.
<icon>
<image16x16>assets/gfx_1_16.png</image16x16>
<image32x32>assets/gfx_1_32.png</image32x32>
<image48x48>assets/gfx_1_48.png</image48x48>
<image128x128>assets/gfx_1_128.png</image128x128>
</icon>
After this when I build my app I get the following error.
I also made sure the copy non-embeded was check here.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?  Doesn anyone know of a setup by step tutorial on adding icons to your AIR app?

You need to make sure the file paths are correct. And you need to make sure they are included in Export.

    Still looking for some help on getting icons to show in my flex/air app.  Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Giving an ICON to my desktop AIR app?

    Well, I just completed my first AIR app. I took an existing
    flex app that my agency has been using for about a year now and
    converted it to AIR. It was much better suited outside the browser
    environment, so this was the perfect chance to try AIR. Well, I
    exported my project. Installed the app to C:\Program Files. I
    selected the option to create a desktop short-cut. Finish! Well, I
    have my app installed and it's on the desktop as well. It runs
    perfectly. The only thing left is to set the icon for the
    application. How is this done aside from manually setting an icon
    from the short-cut's properties menu. Is there a setting in Flex
    Builder that sets the icon? Google has given me no help. Any time
    there's a mention of "learn to add an icon to your AIR app", it
    always refers to an ADOBE AIR class and the material covered.
    Help!! thanks!

    Nevermind, found it after opening the appname-app.xml file.
    After resizing the icon i wanted for each dimension, it
    worked.

  • The air app cannot detect the new added camera

    i made a desktop air-app. the problem is when i unpluged my usb camera and start the air app . the app detect the existed cameras with Camera.names.length = 2; and then i pluged another usb camera and use the Camera.names.length to detect the new camera, but the result is still 2 , not the 2 existed camera with the new added one which the total is 3. then i close the air-app and start it again ,this time the camera.names.length is 3. why ? the air-app just cannot detect the new added camera? the only way the air-app can detect the new added camera is restart the app?

    Air ow flash player for that matter won't detect camera added at runtime. It will detect if you remove the camera while you were capturing images from the camera. You can try to scan for camera suing a timer and see if it detects it then.
    There is also a not so documented flash.media.scanHardware() method, which should force a hardware scan. I did not used it yet so can't vouch for it.

  • AIR app won't compile with custom icons

    My AIr app won't compile when I choose anything but the
    default icons. I created 4 pngs in Photoshop and it gives me the
    error: Useage error (incorrect arguments)
    Any help? I've tried using only 1 icon, all 4, and no icons.
    Only no icons works.

    You dont have to use the GUI to set it, you can use the air
    appliation XML.
    inside your air-app.xml file look for something like:
    <icon>
    <image128x128>icons/myIcon128.png</image128x128>
    <image48x48>icons/myIcon48.png</image48x48>
    <image32x32>icons/myIcon32.png</image32x32>
    <image16x16>icons/myIcon16.png</image16x16>
    </icon>
    if its not there add it, but replace the myIcon128.png with
    your 128 point png image etc.
    also the above assumes your icons are in a folder called
    "icons" in the same directory as your air file.
    Hope it helps.

  • Example working Flex AIR app for Android?

    I'm having trouble getting even the most basic AIR app working on Android. Here is the code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:WindowedApplication xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
                            xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
                            xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" xmlns:local="*"
                            width="600" height="600">
         <fx:Declarations>
             <!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here -->
         </fx:Declarations>
         <mx:Label text="Hello World"/>
    </s:WindowedApplication>
    It works fine running on  Windows in Flash Builder, obviously it's pretty simple. Here are the  commands I use to put it on a Samsung Galaxy Tab with Android 2.2.
    C:\Users\Ryan\Adobe  Flash Builder 4\Test2\bin-release>adt -package -storetype pkcs12  -keystore C:\Users\Ryan\STG-Android.pfx Test2.air Test2-app.xml  Test2.swf
    password:
    C:\Users\Ryan\Adobe Flash Builder 4\Test2\bin-release>adt -package  -target apk -storetype pkcs12 -keystore C:\Users\Ryan\STG-Android.pfx  Test2.apk Test2-app.xml Test2.swf
    password:
    test
    C:\Users\Ryan\Adobe Flash Builder 4\Test2\bin-release>adb install -r Test2.apk
    2286 KB/s (419172 bytes in 0.179s)
             pkg: /data/local/tmp/Test2.apk
    Success
    A Test2 app icon shows up on my Galaxy Tab  under Applications but when I run the app I just see a plain white  screen, I don't see the words "Hello World". Any ideas? Does anyone have  an example Flex AIR app that works on Android and can post the code so I  can try it on my Galaxy Tab? I know AIR is installed correctly on my  Galaxy because I installed an AIR app called South Park Avatar Creator  that I got from the market and it works fine.
    Thanks,
    Ryan
    P.S.  Here is the Test2-app.xml from my non-working project above in case it  helps. This is the default generated with a new Flex app in Flash  Builder 4 using the Flex 4.1.0 AIR 2.5 SDK but I uncommented the andoid  tags and set the visible tag to true.

  • Need to 'launch' AIR app from SD card on Samsung Galaxy TABLET...

    April/28/11 at 3pm ET
    Hi to the group...
    Not 100% sure if this is proper forum to ask this, if anyone knows a better one please point me to it via ([email protected])
    Ok. Trying to see if my working .AIR app will run on my pals Samsung Tablet (before I buy one for myself)...
    Dropped the 'AIR' file onto the SD card (I can see it (the AIR file, size correct) via the fileBrowser app but clicking it does nothing.
    Of note AIR is installed in background of the device and it is running.
    Cant see/find an 'Adobe AIR launcher?' icon' anywhere (only see Adobe PDF browser).
    In all my web searching I see 10000 developer related tutorials re: creating an APK file / converting to APK file using Flash Professional ect.  Not what I am looking for...
    I think I am missing something very basic here is there a launcher for AIR apps on Android?
    TIA //GregH

    Hello
    Thank you for your post.
    You cannot throw directly from your external device, however you can once that file is transferred to internal memory.
    please review this guide for instructions on how.
    How to throw (send) music, video or picture files to a DNLA compatible device.

  • Is there a way to open the settings app from an air app on both iOS and android?

    Since you can't change the notifications settings within the app, is there a way to simply open the settings app from an air app? like a link or something like that?

    Even on iOS this has only recently been added by Apple for iOS 8 only using the line:
    [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:UIApplicationOpenSettingsURLString]];
    So you would have to wrap this in an ANE and then again, only for iOS and only call it in iOS 8+

  • AIR apps developed using HTML+Javascript

    Hi…
    I am working on Adobe AIR.
    And now I have 3 options to develop AIR applications 1)Flex
    2) Flash 3) HTML+javascript.
    But can you please explain me when do I exactly use Flex Or
    HTML+JS Or Flash.
    One of the reason I know is Flex used for Rich UI
    applications
    Is there any list of requirements for which one of the 3
    option is most suitable to use.
    And I have some more questions.
    1) Can AIR applications(developed using HTML+Js) invoke a web
    service running on a different server
    2) Can AIR application(developed using HTML+Js) detect the
    connectivity of USB drive (I have developed 1 application that can
    detect the Network connectivity and periodically reports the status
    I want the same in case of USB(plug & play) connectivity)
    3) I have one AIR application that has one HTML form on click
    of button I am posting the form Data to Java Servlet using
    “air.sendToURL()” as shown
    <script src="AIRAliases.js" />
    <script>
    function sendURL()
    var url = "
    http://localhost:8080/InvokingServlet/Registration";
    var variables = new air.URLVariables();
    variables.username = document.f1.username.value;
    variables.password = document.f1.password.value;
    var request = new air.URLRequest(url);
    request.data = variables;
    air.sendToURL(request);
    alert("Data has been added to Remote DB...");
    </script>
    The data goes to Servlet and then Servlet thru Jdbc
    Connectivity adds the data to database “MySQL” database
    named “user”
    If I read the data from database and print in Servlet it
    displays that to “tomcat server window(log)” But I want
    the data from Servlet to send back to HTML page where I can display
    it on the same HTML page where user entered his details. So even if
    I put the result into some Scope like session or request, but Can I
    read that it in HTML+Javascript page .

    This question gets asked about once a week. You
    can find my latest answer
    here
    and a little searching will dig up more opinions.
    quote:

    service running on a different server
    An AIR application isn't hosted on a server, so all web
    servers are "foreign" to your AIR application. An AIR app does get
    downloaded from a server, most of the time, but it doesn't maintain
    some kind of special connection to that server.
    Because of this, there are no cross-domain restrictions in
    AIR like you have in a regular web browser.
    quote:
    Can AIR application(developed using HTML+Js) detect the
    connectivity of USB drive
    AIR does not allow low-level system access, and has very
    little in the way of platform-specific capabilities. So, you'd have
    to use a high-level, platform-agnostic way of checking for the
    drive, such as by looking around to see what files are available.
    Things like USB insert notifications are way outside the scope of
    AIR.
    quote:
    I want the data from Servlet to send back to HTML page where
    I can display it on the same HTML page where user entered his
    details.
    That question isn't on-topic here. Ask on a forum dealing
    with JSP servlets.

  • How to get Adobe Air-apps to run *properly*? (Voddler ecpecially)

    First: I am running AMD64, and have installed the bin32-adob-air from AUR.
    The problem is, this does not work as it should. Air apps are never "installed" like they would be in Windows, or Ubuntu with the adobe-air from adobe installed. This causes problems with remembering configs and storing data between instances. Wimp, t.ex. will never remember my password, now matter how many times I check the remember password-box. And When running VOddler it just won't find the config file.
    I am trying to run Voddler in linux now, following this. But it won't work.
    I just get an "error reading config file" message when starting it using the adobe-air command (ie. the script from the package. Thinking the problem might be caused by the script running air apps from a temp dir, i aslo tried to run
    [gert@blad opt]$ /opt/adobe-air-sdk/bin/adl -nodebug /opt/airapps/VoddlerPlayer/META-INF/AIR/application.xml /opt/airapps/VoddlerPlayer
    after unpacking the Voddler Files there, but no luck.
    I see that there are a newer version of Voddler out now, and I will try that, but I'd appreciate any help with this spesific issue.
    Also, I would like to know if there is any way to get the "full Air experience" where you jut click-and go, and can install Air-apps the simple, proper way "everybody else" does it. Cause Air right now is a major hassle. Is there any chance of getting the Adobe-Air installer from Adoe work on Arch, or at least get a similar result? Integrated in the system, detected in the browser on  webpages etc.

    It errors out after the Voddler window has been "Rerwinding the tape"  for about 10 secs.
    EDIT: I moved my voddler folder to /opt/airapps so I could use your file without any edits to rule out typos.
    Now, the voddler player starts from firefox in wine. But I immediately also get the "Oops, we noticed you didn't watch the whole movie"-window pops out at the same time, and i get a similar error as above.

    I guess voddler cancels the DRM "lease" as soon as the error box pos up, giving me this question. Seems Firefox doesn't communicate properly with the air-app. Or something else I don't get. complete output from firefox run: pastebin

  • Can individual Adobe Air apps be installed without local admin permission into a user-owned folder?

    Is this a supported scenario?
    Windows 7 PC.
    Adobe Air runtime (latest; 4.0) has been installed by an administrator using a local admin account and the eulaAccepted file is present under the "All Users" profile.
    User logs in using her own account which does not have local admin rights.
    User downloads an Air app and tries to install it to C:\Users\<username> where she has full write permissions to the disk.
    What I observe when acting as the User is that the Windows UAC (security escalation to local admin rights) dialog pops up. Can anyone clearly state what the Adobe Air installer is doing that requires the UAC escalation when installing an app to a user's folder? Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply, Chris. We're working around these problems by deploying the Air runtime + the application separately using an administration tool, which is fine for now.
    I logged the question because I don't see any registry edits or privileged folder access taking place. I suspect that the UAC escalation has something to do with the "eulaAccepted" file; checking that it exists. I doubt that escalated permissions are really required for this. In the long term, it'd be good if this "use case" could be added to the test cycle of Air; perhaps the UAC dialog could be avoided, improving the flexibility of deployment options.
    Ideally the test would start with an adminstrator-installed Air package *without* the EULA being accepted. The user should be able to install apps and approve the EULA without the UAC dialog popping up at all.

  • Adobe AIR apps won't open

    I have all of the sudden had issues with all of my AIR applications. I recently tried installing 2 new ones and the icon will bounce in my dock for a few seconds before disappearing as if it were quitting before anything happened. Installations of the apps seem fine, but the app just won't open. Seesmic desktop told me that I could not update, as well. Something about checking my logs, but to my knowledge I haven't messed with AIR since I got Seesmic. Should I uninstall then reinstall?

    Hi,
    You might want to try reinstalling the AIR runtime to see if that helps.  It would also be interesting to try installing a new AIR app (like tweetdeck for example) to see if that is also effected.

  • Air apps not working on Vista 64 bit since 1.5

    The Adobe Air 1.5 update went fine on my Vista 64 bit system,
    both apps (Thwirl and Spaz) worked fine. Then both apps released an
    update and they crash when attempting to update. Download manually
    the .air file and it can't find the software to open the file and
    will not install. Uninstall Air, reinstall Air. Go to Adobe's Air
    site and try to install any Air app, not a single one will install.
    Air shows up in Add/Remove Programs but now I cannot use a single
    Air application. Have installed (as administrator) and unstalled
    Air a few times, same result. The result I get when I try to
    install something from the Adobe site:
    "Something went wrong trying to install this application.
    Please install the latest version of Adobe Air"

    Unfortunately I can only generate a log for the Air install
    itself. Once Air 1.5 is installed and I try to install any Air
    Application, it fails immediately with the error message in my
    initial post. I created the .airappinstall.log following the
    procedures in kb403123 and echo was on when I went to the Thwirl
    site and clicked "Install Thwirl" and the error message comes up
    instantly and no data is added to .airappinstall.log. And when I
    download the .air file manually Windows cannot find Air at all to
    associate with the .air file. Here is the text from the fresh Air
    install I performed right before trying to install Thwirl (taken
    from the .airinstall.log file):

  • Embedding swf into HTML+JS AIR app

    Hi
    I'm trying to embed swf into HTML+JS AIR app with no luck.
    First, I created flash library with this class in default package.
    package
         import mx.controls.Alert;
         public class Utilities
              public function Utilities()
                             //asdfasdf
                   Alert.show("asdasd","");
    Then I compiled the project with Flash Builder and got library.swc as result. Then I extracted swf file.
    After this is added required code into my html:
    <html>
    <head>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="AIRAliases.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="AIRIntrospector.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.6.2.js"></script>
        <script src="library.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript">
            $(document).ready(function () {
                alert('loaded');
                air.Introspector.logError("aaa");
                var v = new runtime.Utilities();
        </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>
    Then after I run application, I get error that result of expression is not constructor, function etc.
    Could you help me please?  Thanks in advance.
    Here is sample code:

    No. I mean that the Flex framework makes certain assumptions about the environment it is running in -- like having a stage to work with. The Alert function, for example, works by creating a sprite and adding it to the Flash display list. Since your embedded SWF is not on a stage, there's no way for it to work.
    You can can possibly use certain non-visual parts of the framework, such as the rpc package, but I can't guarantee it.

  • Windows Explorer Right Click - Open file in Air App

    I have an AIR App that I made to run on my desktop.  It is used for editing specifc XML files.  I want to know if its possible to setup so that I can right click on an XML file while browsing Windows Explorer and choose an option to "Open in (my AIR App)" ... that would lauch my AIR app and also open the xml.
    Right now, I have to launch my AIR app, click to open a file, and then browse for the file and select it.

    ok so after all of this time, i stumbled upon something that should solve my problem.  i created a new AIR file in flash and put a text field on the stage with the name "my_txt" then I just added this bit of script (below) .... then once I installed the air app, i opened a file into the app and the path to the file was displayed in the text box thats on the stage.  now i just have to use this path to actually open the file.
    import flash.events.InvokeEvent;
    NativeApplication.nativeApplication.addEventListener(InvokeEvent.INVOKE, invoked);
    function invoked(evt:InvokeEvent):void{
              my_txt.text = String(evt.arguments[0]);
