Those are the correct part numbers to add 150 Assurance licenses to PI 1.2. You should also be including the support service for those items. e.g.:
I'd encourage them to upgrade to PI 2.0. If they have SASU support on their PI they will be eligible to upgrade. The Assurance license files will need to be re-issued for PI 2.0. (Base and Lifecycle license files can carry forward as-is.)

You purchase licenses to access the Prime Infrastructure features required to manage your network. Each license also controls the number of devices you can manage using those features.
You need a base license and the corresponding feature licenses (such as Assurance or Data Center licenses) to get full access to the respective Prime Infrastructure features to manage a set number of devices.
If you have installed Prime Infrastructure for the first time you may access the lifecycle and assurance features using the built-in evaluation license that is available by default. The default evaluation license is valid for 60 days for 100 devices. You can send a request to [email protected] if:

Hello, I purchased license prime infrastructure ver. 1 a year ago and never use it. Now i have prime infrastructure ver.2,
My Question is : Can I use license prime infrastructure ver.1 to my new prime infrastructure ver.2 ?

Start from scratch. If you upgrade from version 1 to 2.1, you need to do a lot of "hops". It is a lot easier (and faster) to just start from scratch and install 2.1 into your VM.
Once you're done, put the license in.

Future of cisco prime infrastructure

We have upgraded our CiscoWorks LMS 3.2 to Cisco Prime LMS 4.2.3, and we are running another server for Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3.
My understanding: Prime LMS 4.2.3 is mainly for wired network and PI for wireless network. We have to run two seperate servers to manage the network. Is my understanding correct.
My question is: Would Prime Infra still have two parts in future: LMS and NCS? Would Cisco move LMS functionality into NCS in future release? Could NCS be used to manage wired network?

The roadmap is for more features to be added to Prime Infrastructure until it does everything the old WCS and NCS products did for wireless (that part is pretty much done as of PI 1.3) and that the LMS product does for wired (not nearly as far along on that path).
There is a major release (2.0) due out this summer for PI that promises to take a big step towards feature parity with LMS but it will still not be 100%. My experience is that as of right now PI does not have nearly the depth of features (for wired management) - and the documentation on what features it has is very scanty.
While right now PI can manage a good number of wired infrastructure items, there are a good number of things it cannot do. So LMS will be a current and viable product for the forseeable future (1-2 years out in my estimation). It would be premature at this point for most customers to use a single PI installation for all wired and wireless management. That may change with PI 2.0, but we won't know until we see what features make the cut and how well-implemented they are. Already that product ship date has slipped at least 6 months.

Prime infrastructure 1.2 licensing

We have activated a new VM for the cisco PI,
this substitutes an old NCS VM, so we have prepared for migration as decribedin the cisco documents
all the procedures have been followed so the situation after installing pointpatch, backup application ncs, destroy NCS VM, deploy new PI VM that has been configured on the same basis of the old NCS and now active.
before proceding with the restoration of the backup I have some question regarding the licenses
we do own pak for:
L-PILMS42-1.5K-U Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 - 1.5K Device Maj Upg Lic
L-PI12-LF-1.5K-LIC Prime Infrastructure 1.2 - Lifecycle - 1.5K Device Lic PAK
R-PI12-BASE-K9 Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Base License and Software
and before restoring the ncs backup I'd like to ask some questions
1) Does the system inheris the old (demo) license that was on the "old" NCS VM? (please consider that the VUDI has changed ad the VMware datastore is now different)
2) Will the old VUDI be restored?
3) after restoration of backup the machine will result unlicensed?
4) Is there the risk of wireless service disruption?
5) do I need to generate and apply licence before or after the restore?
6) What licence do I need to register and apply to have PI functional?

Prime LMS 4.2 to Prime Infrastructure 2.0 license migration

A couple of months ago I upgraded WCS to Prime Infrastructure (WCS via NCS to PI 1.2 at that time). Meanwhile PI is running version 2.0. For some reason, when purchasing the upgrade licenses, I also got a 500 device LMS4.2 upgrade license.
The exact part numbers were:
R-W-PI12-M-K9 WCS 7.0 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Migration
R-PI12-BASE-K9 Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Base License and Software
L-PI12-LF-500-LIC Prime Infrastructure 1.2 - Lifecycle - 500 Device Lic PAK
L-PILMS42-500-M Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 - 500 Device Upgrade Lic
I have a virtual LMS appliance running where I installed the 500 device license I mentioned. I've actually never used LMS but that's a different story...
As I'm running low on PI device licenses (lifecycle licenses to be precise), the question is:
Is there an officially supported scenario to migrate these 500 LMS 4.2 licenses (that are already the result of a license upgrade) to PI 2.0?
If so: what part numbers do I need to purchase? I suppose I need
R-L-PI2X-U-K9 LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x Upgrade
plus
(L-L-PI2X-500-U LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x Lifecycle Upgrade 500 Device)

Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 licensing

I have a customer that is running CiscoWorks 3.2 and they also have NCS 1.1 (upgraded from WCS 7.0). They have found that it costs way more to upgrade CiscoWorks to Cisco Prime Infrastructure than it would be to just buy licenses after they finish upgrading NCS to Cisco Prime 1.2.
The main question about Cisco Prime 1.2 is how the licensing works, we need to know if the licensing will work the same as it did for CiscoWorks where they only needed one license for a full stack of switches. They believe that Prime 1.2 will require a license for each switch in the stack, which will cause them to buy several more licenses than what they feel they can afford.
If anyone knows how the licensing works, it would be appreciated.

Prime Infrastructure 2.1 Compliance Licensing

Till Date LMS and Cisco Prime Infrastructure are standalone applications and do not operate in sync.
If you deploy a new application server for LMS, it will be working separately and you can have its compliance manager running with this license applied.
Don't expect integration. Even though PI is eventually destined to be the primary NMS application from cisco and LMS to suppose be phased out, still CPI hasn't reached the feature parity as per LMS, so we still offer our customer's option to run LMS for those features they don't find in CPI.
So as per your question :
So does this mean, if I have purchased the compliance licenses, I have to deploy LMS 4.2 to utilize these licenses?
The Answer is unfortunately yes.

Yes, ideally you should have received multiple PAK or license files, like base license for PI and add-on device license etc. Any one of them having **LMS** in the PAK/Licence file name refers to a LMS license.
You should check more details with the vendor or your cisco's account manager.
LMS has various modules embedded in itself like configuration archive, performance, monitoring, inventory management, compliance manager etc.
It has central device repository from where all these modules get device and credential information. You'll have to configure various compliance jobs/templates etc with one or group of devices to run once or periodically.
Compliance DB stays in sync with LMS and from there you can use it. If you are planning to use Compliance, you can install LMS and use compliance under 60 days evaluation period.

just wanted to know what version of Prime Infrastructure I can install up to if I have a license for PI v1.3,
Am I allowed to install v1.4, v2.0 or v2.1 or just v1.3

The license files (base and lifecycle) will work as Afroz correct noted. If you have an Assurance license, it has to be re-generated for 2.0 onwards as the licensing scheme changed to per collector vs. per interface.
The right to use the earlier license files to upgrade requires you have a software support contract (SASU or the new PASS type)

but the licenses I have is of 1.1.As per my overview from Cisco prime Infrastructure 1.2 NCS and NCS(WAN)
has been bundled into one service.But both were seperate entities in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.1.

It doesn't matter if you want to make a new installation or an upgrade. The questions is the license.
The base license is necessary for network management nodes (devices). But to get updates for your system you need the additional to your Base License the Lifecycle License (which can be ordered for 12, 24 or 36 months).
The Lifycycle License is also based on the number of managed devices. In your case 50 devices. So you have that License - congratulations!
Otherwise order the Lifecycle License for 50 devices (L-N-PI12-50-M). This generates CON-PSUU-PI12LF50 for 12 months, list price 414,81$. Then Upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2, patch the system and upgrade to 1.3.

Prime Infrastructure 2.0 license count

How much licenses does I have to count for 1 stack of (lets say 4 memebers) ?. I.E 1 stack is 1 license or is 1 stack #members in the stack licenses ?
Before 1 stack was 1 license, but I've heard some things that this should be changed ?

Problem with implementing license in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2

Goodday,
For Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2 I downloaded an license from the license portal.
This concerns a eval/demo license, for an demo of Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2.
When selecting the the type of license you get a few options, from which I selected the basic, advanced and lifecycle evaluation licenses. This is the type of license that is required for our demo.
After completing the wizard I can download en implement the license.
Until this point everything goes as it supposed to be.
When i go to the Prime Infrastructure 2.2 appliance (running on VMWare ESXi 5.5.0).
When I go to the license section in Cisco Prime Infrastructure I can implement the license, however if I implement the .lic file I get the error “Unknown feature (PI_VM)”.
I have done implementing license files before, but this is the first time i encounterd this problem.
Who can help me with this error?

Assurance feature set license on Prime Infrastructure 1.2

I have installed Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 separately from LMS4.2. LMS4.2 is in production. I just want to run PI1.2 in parallel with LMS4.2 before migrating to PI1.2. Currently I have LifeCycle permanent license. Why don't I have the assurance lfeature set license. it is running in evaluation mode. please look below:

Assurance is a separate license for PI 1.2. Unless and until you install an assurance license you will see that message.
The appropriate part number would be L-PI12-AS-xx where "xx" is the number of licensed devices (15, 50, 100, 500, 1k, and 5k are the options).

PI and LMS are both entitled products with your upgrade. You may install one, the other or both (but on separate hosts).
When you install either, you will need to use your Product Authorization Keys (PAKs) to download two license files - one for the base 100 devices and another for the 300 devices. You will need to do this separately for each product.

Prime Infrastructure Licensing question

I received a PAK and I generated a license from it. E Mail that I received shows this:
Product Name : L-PILMS42-50-M
Product Description : Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 - 50 Device Upgrade Lic
Now this says Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 and according to this link this is for LMS. Is this right or did our reseller sent us a wrong PAK?
