Adding objects to the scenegraph

Hi,
I am tryin to add a simple sphere primitive to my program. If i call the method createASphere (see below)in the createScenegraph method, the sphere is added with no problems. However, when i comment out createASphere(), and try calling the method from my Java Swing GUI it causes an error:
javax.media.j3d.CapabilityNotSetException: Group: no capability to append children
I have tried using all of the possible capabilties for BranchGroup, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any ideas? thanks very much.

I'm a little confused on two fronts regarding display
programming:
A. What the best way to add objects to the stage?
B. How to access stage properties.
I can do both of these when the project is an 'Action Script
Project', but I'm having trouble when it is a 'Flex Project' (e.g.
an MXML file). See the two attached files with questions included
in the comment to see exactly what I mean.
A. What the best way to add objects to the stage?

In an action script project that extends Sprite I can just
call addChild()
In an MXML project I can add objects to the stage by first
adding them to a UIComponent, then adding that to the stage.
1. Is that the best way to do it?

I created a vector and added objects, but the vector is empty

I created an object called a facility, it accepts 2 strings in the creator but stores the data as a string and a float. as you can see from the code below, i have tried to create a vector object to contain facilitys and named it entries. when i add objects to this vector, the vectors size does not change, and i cannot access elements of it via their index. but when i print the vector out i can see the elements? what is going on here. i am very confused. ps, if it helps i havent worked with vectors much before.

That's correct. That's your problem.

Adding a object to the next request

Hi all,
Suppose your in a JSP section at the top of your page, and later there is an html button, that will submit the form. I know you can write code such as:
request.setAttribute("name", object);However, that attribute is set to the previous request. (Which seems mostly useless.) However, suppose I wanted the object to be added to the next request. The request when the user click the button.
I know about hidden inputs, but I want to add actually objects to the request, not just strings. Besides, it is kind of a pain, to add a different hidden input every time you want to add an object to the next request.
I like how session works, with session.getAttribute(name) and session.setAttribute(name, value).
What advice do you guys have?

It turns out hiddenInput is only for strings, not objects. I am not using tomahawk or a4j, so I can't use either of them. Do you have any other ideas?
I was thinking of using a session scope Map, and adding the object to the map, and passing the key to the next page as hidden input. However, I am having a little trouble telling when and how to add it to the map.
I want the object to accept input from the gui, and then be saved. Basically, I think I need to grab the object at a phase after the data is added to the object, but before the object it deleted. I don't know a lot of the phase listeners, so I am not sure how to do what I want to do.
Do you have any ideas how I would do that, or a better way to do the same thing?

Adding a track when out of Objects in The Environment

Hi,
I use GarageBand 2 (GB2) to get the idea down quickly when the inspiration strikes. It works perfectly for that purpose. To take a song from that initial idea to the finished product, I import the song into Logic Pro 7.1.1 (LP7).
All in all, LP7 is a very good-, comprehensive- and versatile product, but the one thing that keeps frustrating me beyond belief is "The Environment". I have read and re-read the documentation on "The Environment" several times, but I just hit a road block every time I need to add a track if I'm out of objects in The Environment (Audio, Midi or Audio Instrument). When I choose "Track -> Create With Next Instrument" and there is no "Next Instrument" left, I'm stuck.
My current workaround is that I add plenty additional "Real Instrument" and "Soft Instrument" tracks in GB2 before importing the song into LP7. The import routine takes care of setting up The Environment. But sometimes I don't add enough tracks and then I'm stuck again.
Can anyone suggest a reasonably straight forward way of adding a track once you're out of objects (Audio-, Midi- or Audio Instrument) in The Environment, please?

Well, I've tried both of those and that's where the problems arise.
If I do "Track -> Create Multiple..." I get the error message "No more tracks available".
If I create an Audio Object in the Environment, double-click on its icon to transform it into a channel strip, and then try to assign the desired channel, only the channels that are already taken appear in the pull-down menu. If I go back to the Arrange Window and choose "Track -> Create" a new track is created given the same name and linked to the same Audio object and channel as the previously last Audio track. Going back to The Environment I still only have the same channels as before to choose from.
In GB2, in Cubase and in Sonar all you have to do is create a new track and choose whether you want it to be an Audio track or a Midi track. I just don't get why it has to be so complicated in Logic?
What am I doing wrong?

Adding responsibility objects for the Notification Groups for a PA

I am supposed to add responsibility objects for the notiifcation groups for a PA.. Could you please confirm the steps I am planning to follow
1. Find out the Workflow
2. Add the responsibilities objects ( Where can Add those ( in the workflow or in Org Management?)
3. Edit the rule to point to that PA..
I am new to workflows ..points are assured for the help

How to change the scenegraph after a certain time

I want to have an object appear in one of my 3d-applets after 30 seconds. How do I do this? It would be easy in regular Java, but since the scenegraph is precompiled, it makes it more complicated in Java3D.

Actually, it wouldn't be that difficult at all.
Here's the trick: The scene graph as a whole isn't necessarily precompiled. You actually compile the BranchGroups in the scene. And branch groups can be added or removed at ANY time (provided the right capabilities are set).
You can add it later in several ways:
You could override behavior to count out 30 seconds (w/ or w/o using an Alpha), and add the item.
Or you could do it from your application, using a TimerTask, or implementing your own thread to do it.
Another idea, instead of actually adding the item 30 seconds in:
You could add the item right away and set the appearance invisible, and set it visible when 30 seconds is up.
Another thing you could do is modify the culling at 30 seconds in, so the 'visible' faces aren't rendered until 30 seconds have passed.
The bottom line is, you can always change the scene graph after it's been compiled and is live AS LONG AS you have set the appropriate capabilitiy bits.

Why is the LookUp object in the Flow Task of my SSIS package going red (and not working) ? Sql Server 2008 R2

I have been working with the Sql Server 2008 R2 SSIS Tutorial at

--specifically -- Lesson 1. I have been having some problems with this lesson where the source data from the samples download doesn’t exactly match the data described in the tutorial, and the tables in the tutorial are different from what
is contained in AdventureWorksDW (tutorial refers to DimTime – AdventureWorksDW contains DimDate and no DimTime).
So, after futzing in BI with this tutorial so that I can at least get it to run in Debug – it errors out on the 2nd LookUp object.
Rather than looking for a fix to the problem(s) that I am having between the tutorial and the stuff I downloaded in the samples --
I want “Adapt” the tutorial so I can use the stuff I downloaded and hopefully learn how to use SSIS with the elements (source data and tables) that are present on my workstation.
Here is a description of what is going on for me – which I really don’t understand what is going on in BI – based on the images below – like what columns (from what tables) are they associating to in the OleDB Destination?
Note: the sql in the LookUps here is the sql that I copied from the tutorial.
I probably need to modify these sql statements – so -- the help I am requesting is to make the required modifications/changes
so that I can adapt this tutorial with the stuff that’s on my workstation.
I downloaded the samples and the AdventureWorksDW mdf for Sql Server 2008 R2.
It turns out that in the tutorial it wants me to select a DimTime table, but the version of the AdventureWorksDW db does not contain a DimTime table.
Instead, it contains a DimDate table. So I tried adapting DimDate for the tutorial.
Additionally, the sample data file -- SampleCurrencyData.txt -- has slightly different data types than the types described in the tutorial, so I selected data types for the columns in the datasource text file that would work in BI would to
connect column from source data file to the table.
After finishing all the steps for Lesson 1 -- when I tried debugging the package – and it error'd out on the 2nd Lookup object whichwent red.
 I edited the lookups and the sample Ole DB Destination to "ignore on fail” and I did all
green but the FactCurrencyRate table is not being populated -- as described in the tutorial, so I reset the on error back to default (Fail on error option). And based on this tutorial -- I believe FactCurrencyRate
table is the table which is supposed to be populated with the data from SampleCurrencyData.txt?
In the sample data file that downloaded with all the samples I removed all the data from the text file except for 6 rows, so instead of the original 1100 or so rows, I have only 6 rows of data in the source data file (just to keep things
simple for debugging for now). I did not modify the data itself.
Here is what the (raw) data contained in SampleCurrencyData.txt looks like (from the samples that I downloaded from codeplex) – it’s supposed to be 4 columns of data – float, nvarchar, datetime, float:

Below are images of my BI Layout for Lesson 1 from this tutorial -- the FlatFile and configurations for On Fail Error, A Flow task, the 2 LookUps (CurrencyKey and DataKey), the OleDB Destination configuration, the Design view of the associated tables and
the Debug Run of Lesson 1, and the following error messages. My goal is to figure out what is going on in BI for this tutorial.
Error: 0xC020901E at Extract Sample Currency Data, Lookup Datakey [51]: Row yielded no match during lookup.
Error: 0xC0209029 at Extract Sample Currency Data, Lookup Datakey [51]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_INDUCEDTRANSFORMFAILUREONERROR.
The "component "Lookup Datakey" (51)" failed because error code 0xC020901E occurred, and the error row disposition on "output "Lookup Match Output" (53)" specifies failure on error. An error occurred on the specified
object of the specified component. There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.
Error: 0xC0047022 at Extract Sample Currency Data, SSIS.Pipeline: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PROCESSINPUTFAILED.
The ProcessInput method on component "Lookup Datakey" (51) failed with error code 0xC0209029 while processing input "Lookup Input" (52). The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific
to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running.
There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.

Thank you for your reply. I changed the error handling as you suggested on the 2nd lookup to redirect to unmatched rows. Now I get all greet. I don't have the conditional split as in your diagram. But also, nothing appears to have
happened in the DB. Aren't the rows in my text file supposed to be added to the FactCurrencyRate table?
How do I get a conditional split?

OK, sorry I forgot to reply you back.
Conditional Split was just dummy task. Ignore it.
Manipulate the data in such way that you get matching records.
Inside Source, for first 2 rows I put the dates which are available in DimDate.

SharePoint Foundation Sandboxed Code Service - Unable to activate worker process proxy object within the worker process

Issue:
On a vanilla installation, the sandboxed code service (e.g. SPUCHostService.exe) is started; however, SPUCWorkerProcessProxy.exe and subsequently SPUCWorkerProcess.exe fails to start.
Resolution/Workarounds attempted:
Attempted 2 different Load balancing settings – local and remote (i.e. affinity)
Ensured local computer policy on server for ‘RPC Endpoint Mapper Client Authentication’ and ‘Restrictions for Unauthenticated RPC clients’ is disabled.
Ensured following key in registry is set properly - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\RPC
Attempted to bypass SharePoint’s check for certificate revocations at crl.microsoft.com
Ensured the service account is added to the respective groups (e.g. Performance Log Users, Performance Monitor Users, IIS_IUSRS, WSS_ADMIN_WPG, WSS_WPG)
Increased limit of ‘AbnormalProcessTerminationCount’ of SPUserCodeService via Powershell

For resolving your issue , you can do as the followings:
1. Logged into the Web Server with the Timer Service Account.
2. Ran the powershell command to check the SID of the account running the spucworkerprocessproxy.exe:
$(Get-SPManagedAccount -Identity "THE SERVICE ACCOUNT").Sid.Value
3. Checked the registry :
HKEY_USERS\[SID OF THE SERVICE ACCOUNT]\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinTrust\Trust Providers\Software Publishing\State
4. Changed the value 0x00023c00 to 0x00023e00

Removing a single object when multiple objects share the same name?

The below code uses a for loop to make spheres as in this thread:

However, the name is always sphere. I have another part of the code that,
using collision detection, removes a sphere using the tg.removeChild(); command when another sphere (created elsewhere) is
within a set proximity. But how do I specify which sphere it should remove when they are all called 'sphere'? Can I use a
object ID to get around this and if so, how?

Basically, you get a reference to the object you click on through one of the Pick tools from the Pickfast api. Then you iterate over the scenegraph until you find the object your picktool returned. Then you remove it. Check out the examples at

If there are a known finite number of spheres you can keep references to them in a list or a Switch.

What is the difference between using the command "dsmgmt" and the "Managed By" tab when adding users to the local administrators Account on a Read-Only Domain Controller?

When I use the
"dsmgmt" command to add a user to the local administrators account of a RODC I can actually see the user when I use the "Show Role Administrators" parameter. However, I can't see the members of the
group added to the "Managed By" tab of the RODC object in AD. Even though, the users added using
"dsmgmt" and by the "Managed By" tab can all log in locally and have admin rights to the RODC. Are there any differences between these two ways of adding users to the local administrators account?

For groups, managedBy is an administrative convenience to designate “group admins”. Whatever principal listed in
managedBy gets permission to update a group’s membership (the actual security is updated on the group’s AD object to allow this).
In Win2008 and later managedBy also became the way you delegated local administration on an RODC, allowing branch admins to install patches, manage shares, etc. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755310(WS.10).aspx).
On the RODC, this is updating the RepairAdmin registry value within RODCRoles.
So the difference between them should be only the way they do the same thing.

How to rotate and translate an object at the same time??

Hi, I have a problem with rotation and translation of an object at the same time. I wrote a behovior class for my object (a cylinder). When some conditions are true the cylinder is added to a robot arm. Then it is translated so that the cylinder would be very close to the arm (looks like the robot is holding it). And now the behavior should also rotate the cylinder because the angle is 0 and it should be 90. I can translate the object or I can rotate the object but when I'm trying to do it at the same time (I want to combine rotation and translation) it doesn't work.
Could anyone help me, please :)

Bulk Create Users from CSV: Error: "Put": "There is no such object on the server."?

I'm using the below PowerShell script, by @hicannl which I found on the MS site, for bulk creating users from a CSV file.
I've had to edit it a bit, adding some additional user fields, and removing others, and changing the sAMAccount name from first initial + lastname, to firstname.lastname. However now when I run it, I get an error saying:
"[ERROR] Oops, something went wrong: The following exception occurred while retrieving member "Put": "There is no such object on the server."
The account is created in the default OU, with the correct firstname.lastname format, but then it seems to error at setting the "Set an ExtensionAttribute" section. However I can't see why!
Any help would be appreciated!

Which is better a new schema or adding tables in the existing schema

Hi All,
We have a new requirement from the client asking us to include a few new functionalities(pages--- all together a new application has to be embedded into our application) in our application. By adding these new functionalities, the number of hits to our application can be doubled.
As per the above requirement, I would like to know that whether to create a new schema or to create some new tables in the existing database for the new functionalities.
By what way, can I handle the number of requests in a better way? by creating the new schema or by creating the new tables for the new functionalities.
Also I would like like to know what kind of factors will differ between creating a new schema or creating new tables for the new functionalities in the existing schema.
FYI... We are using Cold Fusion as front-end and Oracle 9i for back-end

I agree with VD in that it all depends on how closely the new features ties into your existing application structure.
The second major factor to consider is since you mention "for client" is if your application has more than one client and if you will be rolliong this feature into the application for all clients. If you have multiple clients but only this one gets this feature then it may make more sense to use a second schema, but it really depends on how easy to identify and separate this feature's objects for the purpose of maintaining it through future upgrades is going to be.

Adding images to the stage

Hello,
I am currently working on a photo gallery which reads an XML file and load all picture from it. I am doing all by AS3 by adding bitmapdata to the container by loader object. What I want to do is when I add these images they behave like a button, by enabling hand cursor and pointing to a specific frame or an URL when I click on it. How should I proceed with the script to do so ? (Create a button or a movieclip which can be clicked and all this on a dynamic way)
