Addition of portlets saved as personalization

Hi,
We have a requirement, where the end user can add portlets to his page, however these additions need to be stored as personalizations. Which means that if User 'A' adds a 'X' portlet to his page / dashboard all the other users should not see this portlet on their respective dashboards (which is personlization).
During our investigation on Composer, we found out that Oracle Composer does allow the user to add portlets at runtime, but this is stored as customization and is visible to all the users once done. Is there any way in Composer , where we can configure that 'Additions of portlets by end user = personalization' and 'Addition of portlets by admin user = customization"
Any API, Any link will definately help.

Take a look at webcenter spaces. THis is an environment for collaborative websites. You can create pagegroups and each user has a "personal space" were they can add page. THese pages are only visible to theirselfs.
If you don't want to use webcenter spaces and you want to have this in your own webcenter application then you should take a look at Customization Classes. These classes can provide at runtime the name of the layer were the customizations are stored. For example you can create (or use) a UserCC which defines a layer per user so when the user adds portlerts it is stored on a layer that has the name of the current user. This way every user will have his own customization.
The advantage is that you can create your own CC. So you can for example do a check in your CC if the user is a regular user or admin and if it's an admin than the layer is the normal siteCC instead of the UserCC. This way admins will still be able to change the page for every user.
Their is some nice documentation about CC in jdeveloper. Just open the help and look for customization class.

Map Place Additions/Deletions Not Saved

If I manually add or remove places on a map page in a book using the + - functionality, the changes don't get permanently saved. Does anyone know why? iPhoto remembers them OK.
If I add a photo to a map page by dragging it into a photo field, it remembers that place and adds it to the map (using the GPS data). If I later remove that content (i.e. photo) it also refuses to save that deletion on the map. I want the map to show a selection of places on my travel route, not necessarily just the ones where I took photos.
Both additions and deletions appear OK until I change the project or view (e.g. select Viewer, or quit the app etc.). Any thoughts?

I have discovered what the problem is. It looks like a bug!
Sequence of Events:
1. I used the map template 1-Up w/Map.
2. I then dragged a few different photos into the photo frame. This added the GPS locations from the photos to the map.
3. I then deleted the photo frame using the Edit Layout controls.
4. I tried to add and removed (manually) places on the map.
5. Aperture remembered the original places from the original photo frame, but not any places I subsequently added or removed manually (using the + - functions in the list of places).
To solve this problem I deleted the map page, then inserted a new 1-Up w/Map page, then deleted the photo frame before I did anything. Adding/removing places using the + - manual functions then worked perfectly.

Why aren't additional EF diagrams saved in source control?

In VS2012/VS2013, you can add additional diagrams to your EF model, which is a great way to control large models. However, when you do this, the changes don't show up in the Pending Changes window, and so aren't saved in source control. This means that if I
add a new diagram, no-one else on the team can see it.
Is there a way of sharing these extra diagrams?

I am afraid it is not possible to share a diagram by source control(for exmaple,diagram1, diagram2...), as far as I know, source controls are used for files, while these diagrams we see in the model designer windows are just a visual display
of an EDMX file(more exact, it is a visual display of the ModelXXX.edmx.diagram file). All your operations against the diagram would be saved into this file, so if you want let others know you have added a new diagram from the Model Browser, you need
to control the ModelXXX.edmx.diagram file.

How do I automatically print a wavechart that is saved as a JPEG with additional text being saved in the JPEG as well

I'm trying to automatically print a waveform chart programically with out using a sub VI. From using Method 2 on this post http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/981c98819dbb89fe862569610046cfb8 I have been able to get the chart to save. However I haven't been able to get it to print automatically. I also am wondering if it is possible to have addition information being save in the JPEG, for example just some text to explain the chart a little bit. Lastly I am wondering if it possible to change the waveform chart background from black to white for the JPEG. I've attached a screen shot of my code below and I understand I'll have to add more but I'm unsure of how to do what I am looking for.
I am fairly new to Labview and am still learning but any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Add Portlet Customization

Hi Everybody,
I'd like to create a more friendly and simple interface for my user choose between hide and show any portlet in one page.

Yes, portlets can be minimized by using both the PL/SQL and the Java API, there is no difference.
There are plans to make a minimizable portlet available in the portal community. For the time being, you can give it a try and do it on your own.
I've summarized the steps I've taken, and would be glad if you'd provide feedback whether you succeed.
How to add the 'Minimize/Restore' feature to your portlet?
Assumptions:
o You already have a working Java portlet
o You have registered your provider so that the login frequency
is 'Once Per User Session'
This solution uses the following PDK-Java services:
o Parameter passing
o Session storage
o Personalization
High level steps:
1) Create two images as the minimize and restore icons.
2) Make the images available for the browser (eg: copy the images
to the /images folder of Apache and make sure they can be
accessed.)
3) Render the minimize or restore image, according to the current
state of the portlet in the top right corner.
4) Put a hyperlink on the images:
pageURL&size=minimize (if the portlet size is normal) or
pageURL&size=restore (if the portlet is minimized)
5a) When rendering the portlet, read the parameters.
Push the read parameter to the sesssion storage
and to the personalization storage as well.
(The session storage is used when navigating to another page,
and coming back later, but the parameter is not available in
the URL any more, while the customization is used for the
cases when the user logs out in the meantime or closes the
browser, but wants to restore the state of the portlet as
it was by the time the session was closed.)
5b) If there is no parameter passed to the portlet, read the
session storage.
5c) If there is no session information available about the portlet
state, read the customization value. Push the read value to
the session storage.
6) Render the entire portlet (normal), or don't render it (minimize)
according to the parameters/session/customization information
read in 5a-5c
Additional feature:
If you stop here, in new portal sessions the portlet is rendered
in the same mode as it was rendered last time just before having
logged out (as saved in personalization data).
As an extra customization option you may add how you want
to render the portlet when starting a new portal session (logging
on again):
o normal (regardless of the last time)
o minimized (regardless of the last time)
o as left last time

How To Add Additional Fields When Creating New Contact From w/in Mac Mail?

Hi there. When in Mac Mail and clicking on contact information provided within an email, we are able to either (1) CREATE NEW CONTACT or (2) ADD TO EXISTING CONTACT (by clicking on the arrow next to a phone number, address, etc.). If I choose "Create New Contact," how can I add additional fields BEFORE clicking on "Add to Address Book" button in lower right corner? Let's say, for example, I know this new contacts URL or company. (Currently, I am creating the new contact from within Mac Mail and then going to Address Book and finding the contact, then editing, the adding the additional fields, then saving, and then going back to Mac Mail. This all takes time.)
Note: When creating a new iCal event from within Mac Mail, we can click on Option/Alt key when selecting drop-down arrow...and this will allow us to add additional information. The same feature isn't available for address book???

I have the exact same question and problem. If there was a way to automatically open the AB entry after "creating new contact" this would solve it.

How to remove the Personalize link from the table layout displayed on Page.

While i create a new page and a table layout is created on this page it displays a link called Personalize this table. For every table i create the same is displayed.
If 10 such table layouts are there i get personalize options on all such 10 layouts on same page.
If anyone of u knows @ this please help me out how to remove that link from the page.

You can set the value for the profile FND: Personalization Region Link Enabled / FND_PERSONALIZATION_REGION_LINK_ENABLED to No.

Trouble saving document

Testing a document created in LiveCycle and when I go to fill out the document and save everything looks fine. I close it and reopen it and some of the information is missing or reset back to the default (example if drop down 2 was selected a text box would appear for additional information after saving and reopening the document the drop down resets back to default and the text box is missing). What is happening here? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I'm using the exit event for a drop down and displays things after the selection, when saved the selection that was made doesn't show up. Another question too, I put the script in the layout:Ready and it looks like it works but the document is set to flow and some of the sections don't move up to fill the space. How do I get it to flow and move up to where it should be?? And also the text boxes that are set to fit to width of text automatically doesn't work anymore when the document is saved. Sorry I'm new at this part, it's a whole another thing I'm learning now. Hope this all makes sense. Thanks.

MBP: The itunes library file cannot be saved. A folder was specified instead of a file

I've started getting this error on my MBP from iTunes:
I am running a MacBookPro with Snow Leopard 10.6.7 and iTunes 10.
Other than this warning, I can't detect any operational problems with iTunes, but rather than mask it, I'd prefer to fix it.
The my root iTunes directory and its contents all appear to have proper ownership:

I've made some progress. In iTunes preferences/advanced you can re-set warnings. Repairing Disk Permissions on your boot drive will help when iTunes won't start. In addition to the saving issue, I've suffered through the problem of iTunes creating multiple .tmp files. With iTunes closed you can delete these files.
I also found these two threads helpful and have turned off local snapshots for Time Machine.

Info type 1001 Additional Data and Maintenance Using PPOME

Hi All,
I have gone through the steps of creating additional data for a new relationship that I have created in Organizational Management. Everything works fine when maintaining this relationship using transaction PO13 - Position maintenance.
Transaction PO13 - 1. Create relationship. 2. Additional data screen comes up. 3. Additional data is saved.
Transaction PPOME - 1. Assign relationship. 2. No Additional data scree.
I have debugged the code and PPOME calls module pool MP100100 the same way at PO13 and infact the system actually goes through the code to call my additional data screen, but the screen is not present in PPOME even though the system calls it.
Has anyone ran into this issue? Is there a solution? Or does PPOME not support the maintenance of relationship additional data?

In the attribute scenerio select the OME0 and then double click on tab page of scenerio of each object type....
against the object S there are several tab page defined. i think you need to create the entry for the additional data also.

I recently installed Logic pro on my macbook, I already have it installed on my iMac.
I am facing problems in downloading and installing the additional audio content from Apple website.
is it possible that I can copy additional content from my iMac and paste in Macbook.
If yes, where the additional content is saved on iMac and where should I paste on my macbook.

Saving an image and data file

Am am current developing a program similar to the one below using an elvis module.
I am trying to save am image of the graph but, the save image window keeps popping up because of the loop.
I just want to be able to click a button and then save the image to a file without the save window popping up every time.

In your second example's block diagram, you need to have the save button terminal and the associated case structure within your main loop, otherwise the button/case structure is only read/executed the one time.
An additional tip: When saving "computer graphics", like LabVIEW panels or diagrams, it's nearly always better to save them using the PNG format. PNG format is both compressed (small file sizes) and yet also "lossless compression" (no image degradation) - also it's usually preferable to use true colour (24 bit colour depth).
JPEG file type is a "lossy" type of compression that is designed for photographics - it will cause blurring and colour distortions when used with computer graphics.

SQL Portlets - Executing across db link from app server db to DataWarehouse

Hi
We are using Ora App Server 10.2.
Discoverer Portlets saved on app server db, execute their SQL direct to our DataWarehouse (Oracle 9r2) and this works fine.
However, when we use SQL portlets, the SQL has to be coded with db links from our app server db to our Datawarehouse. This is not ideal.
Does any know how you can use SQL Portlets without using db links?

Try creating your portlets as java providers using jdbc instead of in PL/SQL.
