Additional Manifest Files to Merge don't get merged

I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.1.1.0 to create some 'executable' jars to run on client machines.
The automatically generated manifest file doesn't have the necessary Class-Path statements, so I've created a custom MANIFEST.MF to be merged into the auto-generated one.
If my custom MANIFEST.MF file has an error, deployment fails.
But, when my file is correct, it doesn't get merged in to the autogenerated MANIFEST.MF.
Is there a setting (project/global?) that is overriding the project deploy option to merge in additional files? Is this a known bug that JDeveloper ignores custom MANIFEST.MF files?

I found the answer here: Merging a fragment file with a MANIFEST.MF file doesn’t work when deploying
you need to include a blank line at the end of the MANIFEST.MF file you are merging.

    Since PSE11, you access the photomerge option in the 'Enhance' menu, last option. Or you can use the organizer (menu Edit / Photomerge).

  • What is manifest file?

    Hi,
    I have learned about jar's. I know the basic definition of the manifest file.I know that it gets created automatically and that it stores information like version number etc.
    But I want to know following :
    1.Is it possible to create manifest file manually, overwriting the default one created automatically?
    2.What other information does the manifest file stores?
    3.Will it be right to say that it is a metadata of the jar file.
    4.What is the exact use of the Manifest file?
    Thank you to clear my doubts.

    Mainfest file is automatically created when a JAR is built.Wrong.
    JAR creator tool takes the content of MANIFEST.txt file that you create and than create a new Manifest.mf file and paste content into it.Wrong.
    1- Mainfest file can contain the information of starting point class (class that has main method ) if your jar is a executable jarTautology.
    2- Manifest file is more than metadataHow?

    Help pl
    Thanx

    It looks that the update wasn't successful because your "More system details" list still shows a Firefox 3.6.18 version.
    If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
    Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
    Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

    Have you checked that the document is using the exact same font on both machines? If the second machine doesn't have the font installed that's used in the original document on the first machine, Word will pick the closest matching font, and that may

  • How do I make sure files backed up by Time Machine don't get deleted?

    About 2 months ago I backed up about 50GBs worth of family movie files with TM to a 1TB WD hard drive so that I could access them to watch without them clogging up my iMac hard drive. Once they were safely backed up I removed them from my computer after about 3 days. (I also backed them up to DVDs so luckily they are not gone for good). After 2 months I decided to access them to watch through TM only to find they were no longer there. I also went looking directly into the sparsebundle...no luck. I still have about 450GB left for back ups. My questions are this... is TM deleting files that have only been on my computer short term? If so, how long do I need to keep files on my computer to ensure that TM keeps them for good? I believe TM deletes a lot of weekly and monthly back ups after a month, but this seems to put a lot of 'short term stay' files in danger of being lost completely. Am I right in assuming this?

    Hi Peter and a warm welcome to Discussions!

    TM is designed to delete files. Seems conterproductive for a backup application but then again TM is not designed to be an ordinary backup solution that you can rely upon it to keep your files until you as the user decides to delete backups because you find that they are unnecessary. Incidentally, note that the TM preferences tick box says "Warn when old backups are deleted" not "are about to be deleted". There may be warnings before deletion but in my experience one can't count on that.
    I can't say why those files are no longer on your backup. Download the Time Machine widget and have a look if there's anything in the TM log for the relevant time the files disappeared. TM shouldn't delete when there's a lot of space left on the drive. However, unfortunately it does happen that TM loses track of what has been backed up and so begins a full backup to ensure all's backed up. In such a case and where the full backup is big, it may have deleted the oldest files to make space for the new backup. Ironic.

    You can't (afaik) ensure that TM will forever keep files that it has copied because of how TM is designed. If you want a proper/ordinary backup solution look elsewhere. Because of TM's design, I actually stopped using it and instead set up SuperDuper to run a daily backup of the drive where I save all my stuff. Sure, I won't have the extra security that TM offers by backing up every hour (thus minimising the amount of data that may be lost while working on a file) but I don't need that because I am very careful to save regularly.

  • Package load Failed! Invalid package Title, manifest file cannot be found

    Greetings. I am new to UPK and am seeking guidance on an upgrade to 11.1.
    A little background on what we are trying to do:
    We have two machines:
    Windows 2003 machine in domain 'X' | UPK 11.0.0.1.
    Windows 2008 R2 virtual machine in domain 'Y' | UPK 11.0 on the new machine first, install the 11.0.0.1 patch, and then upgrade to 11.1.
    We are using the same database as the old machine. Developer Server is Standard Authentication, Knowledge Center is Windows authentication.
    ==========================================================================================
    So far we have installed 11.1 with the respective database upgrades, but are lost as to how to migrate the old Content Root data. We have copied all the content to the new Content Root, added it to IIS like the old machine, and verified that the UPK database Content Root path is correct and working.
    For the rest of the post, I am remoted into the server from my local workstation, and then using IE to access KCenter on the server's FQDN, not via localhost.
    Since I am green, so I presumed that I would need to import the titles under Manager in KCenter. I zipped each content folder individually (they are named "1", "9", etc), and then attempted to import each zip file.
    NOTE: At this stage sometimes we are prompted to authenticate again. When it does, sometimes the credentials that we know work, get rejected and we are prompted again. This will repeat until we get a 401 and we have to start over. We have verified that the Windows account currently in session with the site is valid and has administrator authority within KC.
    NOTE2: On the first few tries, .NET complained that maxRequestLength was not large enough. I had our servers team increase it on the actual server in order for us to proceed.
    Provided we don't have to authenticate again, or that it actually accepts our credentials, we get to the 30% mark and then receive the error: *"Package load Failed! Invalid package Title, manifest file cannot be found"*
    Does anyone have any wisdom for this process? The title importation section in the deployment manual is not helping, and the administrator from whom I am taking over this software has not had to deal with this before.
    Thank you,
    Ian

    Hi Marc, thanks for the post,
    I have gone through an extensive troubleshooting process with Oracle, including their development team, in order to fully complete our project setup. As a supplemental bit of information, we also were having connection errors when attempting to publish directly to the knowledge center.
    As far as the context of this post, here is the solution in brief:
    1) Verify that the package being imported was published from the same version of the Developer Client as the Knowledge Center installation's.
    2) Check for database consistency issues. In our case we were using a database that was built in another domain. After numerous attempts with Oracle support on the line to determine the inconsistency, it was decided to completely reinstall and build a new database from scratch in the new domain.
    3) Check application pool identities and access (while we had some inconsistencies here, correcting them did not change the behavior of the import/publish errors)
    In review, a lot of what we had setup was correct. Our primary point of failure, we feel, was using the old database. Technically this should not have been a problem, but Murphy likes to get his way sometimes.
    Cheers,
    Ian

  • How to use manifest file to indicate the entry class?

    I am trying to package all my class files together and let the users to run my file using the following command line:
    java -jar program.jar
    For this purpose, I need to specify the main class in the manifest file. I create the manifest file as below:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: 1.3.0 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    Main-Class: classname
    and include it in the same directory as my class file. then I jar all the files using:
    jar cvmf manifest.mf program.jar *.*
    However ,when I try to run the program using:
    java -jar program.jar, I get the error message:
    Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from program.jar.
    What have I done wrong? pls help!!! thanks a lot

    Hi.
    here one example:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: Solitaire.RunMe
    Created-By: 1.3.0 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    you may run it by : java -jar Solitaire.jar, or doubleclick over the Solitaire.jar
    the main class is RunMe in package Solitaire.
    so the complite path would be Solitaire.RunMe.
    enother one
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: RunMe.RunMe
    Created-By: Forte for Java v. 1.0
    you may run it by : java -jar Transmission.jar, or doubleclick over the Transmission.jar
    the main class is RunMe in package RunMe.
    so the complite path would be RunMe.RunMe.

  • Scripting a file name change as a data merge element.

    My goal of the work being done with InDesign is to utilize the Data Merge functionality of InDesign and the, already available, ability to create a new document per record in your data source where the docuement name is changed based on data contained in the data source.
    A very simple example of this would be the following:
    EXAMPLE
    ======================
    Given the following data source in excel:
    First_Name
    Last_Name
    ResultingFileName
    George
    Smith
    c:\A45.pdf
    Mary
    Lopez
    c:\C99.pdf
    Steve
    Barns
    c:\tmp\XM96TR.pdf
    Along with a simple two text box InDesign documents, I would perform a standard data merge with First_Name linked to one text box and Last_Name linked to another.  By setting the “Record Limits Per Document” to 1, I would end up with three different documents.  By default, the documents would be named Untiltled-1, Untiltled-2 and Untitled-3.
    Untitled-1 would contain George and Smith.  Untitled-2 would contain Mary and Lopez and Untitled-3 would contain Steve and Barns.
    At this point in time, I would run the new created script, which would do the following:
                Rename Untitled-1 to A45 and/or save Untitled-1 as C:\A45.pdf
                Rename Untitled-2 to C99 and/or save Untitled-2 as C:\C99.pdf
                Rename Untitled-3 to XM96TR and/or save Untitled-3 as c:\tmp\XM96TR.pdf
    I am open to modifying the manner in which the data merge source is created.  For example, separating the path and the file name into separate columns.  In addition, I am flexible in putting preset information and/or file save types into the data merge document.
    Please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected]
    Thanks in advance for the help.
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
    I think it’s better to use an XML-based approach for your task.
    I’ve never scripted Data Merge process, but I don’t see a straightforward way of doing it. May be you can create the 3rd textbox on pasteboard or a non-printing layer, which will contain the file path from ‘ResultingFileName’ field, and the contents from which can be used for naming & saving the current file and exporting it to pdf-file. But this approach is so clumsy.
    Instead, you’d better to keep your data in excel file, or even better Access or some other database program.
    Export the data from it in XML-format.
    Then import it to an InDesign file and process it by script. XML support is very powerful in InDesign: you can process your data by xml-rules. I once made a script for a newspaper, which processed data for classified ads. The script applied all formatting, changed colors for different headings and placed images.

  • Asdoc how to add a custom local namespace with manifest file?

    Hi there,
    I use the flex 4 beta1 sdk to test the following:
    I have:

        >
        <views:AbcView id="abcView" right="20" />
    </s:Group>
    I tried to use a manifest file which seems to be how to handle this kind of situation (using ant):
        <arg line="-namespace views ${manifest.file}"/>
        <arg line="-doc-namespaces views"/>
    the manifest.xml contain the following:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <componentPackage>
               <component id="AbcView" class="com.xyz.core.view.components.AbcView" />
    </componentPackage>
    when I compile asdoc return the following error:
    ...MainScreen.mxml(52):  Error: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: AbcView
    Any idea how I can force asdoc to add/recognize AbcView.mxml ? Is my use of manifest file correct in this situation?

  • Manifest File

    I am making a WBT where I need to use the scorm feature with Presenter and PowerPoint. I have looked at the help file for the instructions on what options to select for scorm and when I publish my presentation as a  .pdf file I am not getting a manifest file with it. What am I doing wrong?

    I don't believe that the PDF version will do SCORM reporting. Publish out a zip of the Flash version and you will be able to see the manifest file in that zip. (don't publish directly to your desktop or you will end up with about 20 files and folders that you have to keep track of).
