ADDT Captcha
I used to think this was manna from heaven when I discovered it, until I installed it and started getting requests from ALL of my clients where I had used it, to remove it.
It turns out that for some reason it is too unreliable. They send me emails from their customers explaining how they have tried and tried (one claimed up to 20 times!) to submit a form only to be forced to retry because the security code they entered did not match the server generated code. This of course can result in lost business to my clients.
So my feature request is for an alternative stratgy for Captcha - I have been forced to remove it from all client's forms where I had hoped it would help limit SPAM - turns out that my clients would rather be hit by SPAM than have their clients frustrated by a "feature" (thats an old term for a BUG!) that did not work as advertised.

there´s one you can easily realize with ADDT as well :: the "honeypot" approach, means to...
1. ask a question like "what´s the sum of 10 and 36 ?"
2. provide a text input field for having users enter the sum
3. make sure that ADDT´s form field validation checks for 46

trying to implement ADDT captcha with no success. I have the
appropriate file permission for the .captcha folder and all its
content set at (777). I'm also using gd image processing library (I
tried imagemagick, it kicks back an error when trying to display
image).
No image displays, basically nothing happens except for the
display of text. How the heck do I get this thing to work?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, time is defiantly at a

Captcha has suddenly stopped working
Just recently (over the past week or so) ADDT captcha has stopped working on all sites, on one server.
When the page is loaded, the captcha image is created on the server. I have verified the creation, and the image file looks fine.
The page cannot seem to "show" the image. It shows up as a broken image - however, when I right click on the broken image, the path to the image that was just created appears to be correct.
Obviously, because nobody can see the image - they don't know what to enter in the box.
This is occuring on an IIS6 server running PHP 5.2.12.
PHP has not bee updated or changed recently (ie; config files have not changed) nor has IIS6 gone through any known changes. I cannot tell if this problem occurred at a similar time as the latest Windows 2003 patch Tuesday - but I do not believe so. These were working for at least a week after those latest updates.
Has anybody else encountered a problem with Captcha recently? Any suggestions?If anyone else encounters this problem (I suspect it's a Windows/IIS change) this is how I corrected it.
1: Open "includes/common/lib/captcha/KT_Captcha.config.php" (make a backup of this file before you change it).
2: In line 2 change this "/../../_temp/.captcha/" to this "/../../temp/captcha/"
3: In line 3 change this "includes/common/_temp/.captcha/" to this "includes/common/temp/captcha/"
Effectively what I have done is created a new directory structure for Captcha. Intead of a folder called "_temp" it now uses "temp". Also, instead of a folder called ".captcha" it uses "captcha".
I figure the "dot" in front of captcha was likely the issue, but still changed them both. I'm not sure why - but these changes made it start working again. -
Has anybody attempted to extend the ADDT captcha
functionality to include a text to speech alternative for the
visually impaired? If not, does anybody know of a text to speach
library for PHP similar to the GD library for images?Why not use a totally passive honeypot approach instead?

I emailed yahoo about their server technology, it turns out they have no plans in the immediate future to upgrade php to a more recent version
sorry to hear that Yahoo seems to lag many years behind -- to me this would be a good reason to consider switching to a better host providing a contemporary php version, which should be 5.x
Is there any other solution, or is this it?
For me it´s hard to tell which other ADDT components work (or not) with 4.3 -- however, as replacement for the Captcha thing you could...
1. create a regular text input field with a maxchar attribute of 2
2. provide a message like "how much is 9 + 11 ?"
3. have the form validation check if the entered number is 20

If I add Captcha to a standard custom form, it works fine. (The "action" for the form is the current form)
If I set the "action" for the form to point to another php file - ie I want to POST the form values to another page - Captcha stops working - it gets ignored! (Other validation on the form still functions correctly)
1. How do I get Captcha to work in this way, or
2. How do I POST values to another page using a standard custom form?
TIATIA,
ADDT created forms are designed to POST to themselves. In other words, the action of an ADDT form actually sends the data to the same PHP page that the form is on. Then all the magic happens and the user is redirected to the success page if everything goes well.
The only validation that is working on your page is the ADDT Javascript validation that happens on the client side, not the server side validation that also happens with ADDT forms.
In order to pass variables to another page, you need to do it via URL or SESSION variables.

However I just added a new chapter called "how to check against randomly created strings" -- in other words: how to replace ADDT´s Captcha image with a text-only version of the very same random string ;-)
This approach is also incredibly easy to implement, but it´s a PHP-only solution which requires ADDT´s Captcha libraries.

Captcha Is Not Working When Consumed In Another Application As Portlet.

I have downloaded the sample captcha application from :

Along with a litle documentation.
I convert the basic functionality,previously the captcha verification was at button click.
I convert it into the validator,now on tab out from the specific input field the captcha is getting verified.
I put one more input field in it,from which am inserting a record into the database.
then i created portlet entry for the captcha application.
register that with another ADF appplication as WSRP producer.
then consume that on to a JSF page in a pop up.
but when i run this JSF page,it opens the captcha in pop up(means portlet is coming fine),
but when i tried to verify the captcha functionality through it,
its throwing the error that, "connection is not found with the server".
I am developing the Consumer application(ADF) in jdev 11.1.1.3,with integrated weblogic server.with no extra libraries(only those which comes with the application template).
I am putting error logs in here,Please help me as this is the last bit which is remaining with me and its kind very important as we want o use this captcha on our newsletter subscription verification.

My dynamic site has a lot of different languages funneled into one website, using various cookies, url params, php includes, etc. all to obtain similar info in different languages. Thank you David Powers.
It is working really well and now I’ve come to the Registration section. Okay, so registration isn’t all that hard; I could do most of it with the standard Dreamweaver set of tools. Alas, I really like much of what ADDT has to offer with welcome email messages and activation and such.
Here’s the setup: Obviously, with many different language people, I have many different databases for them. I did that becuase we’re expecting a big audience and I really don’t want to have all those different language names in the same table. Furthermore, these tables, whereby the students will login, will also contain a lot of information about their work so again, don’t want to have one massive table. I’ve divvied them up into tables by language and I’m using those tables to keep track of them and their work.
I want to use ADDT’s User Registration Wizard and I have looked at all the neat stuff in the Control Panel/Login Settings.
Here’s my situation: I notice that when I’m done with the configuring of one of the registration pages, I’m asked if I want to upload the tNG_config.inc.php page and that it has changed since the last upload. I saved a copy of the _config.inc.php and did a new registration form with the same info and when done, I compared the two _config.inc.php files. As one would guess, there is a small difference in the Connection string to the databases $tNG_login_config["connexction"] = "connString_Ital_db".
My problem is that I have 13 of these registration pages to do but ADDT only has the one tNG_config.inc.php. That’ll work great for the one with which it is associated, but the others will obviously break. I’ve looked through the code in the Registration pages, to find the ADDT link to the tNG_config.inc.php file hoping to rename it Italian, Spanish, etc, but the name of the file does not appear in the Registration page. I realize that ADDT Control panel is designed for use on one site, and can then be used on others, with the changes etc. But my site seems a little unique since so many sites are actually in one.
Has anyone whipped this problem before? I just don’t understand why there is no link in the head code of the Registration page to let me change it and to create more config files with different names. Thanks for you help!

I just tried to check all of ADDT´s "includes" files for any internal references (read: "require" or "require_once" statements) to the file "tNG_config.inc.php". So far I can only see this file referenced in the file "tNG.inc.php" (within the "$KT_tNG_uploadFileList1" array).
So what could this mean ? Maybe you´ll have to make copies of the the original "tNG.inc.php" as well and save them as, say, "tNG.inc_ital.php" file plus make sure that these copies internally point to a different "tNG_config_ital.inc.php" file -- because it´s always the first mentioned file which gets referenced from e.g. an ADDT login page (see the "Load the tNG classes" - part)

The Control Panel will always update the main "tNG_config.inc.php" file, so any further modifications will have to become manually applied to the custom files you´re creating.

How do I remove the CAPTCHA field?
A programmer originally built our site but he's no longer working with us so I'm having to make changes by myself before we go live. I have a section on our homepage to sign up for our newsletter. It's apparently not a standard BC web form because it was programmed to look and fit a certain way. We didn't originally have a CAPTCHA field, but I must have activated it somehow because it's there now. And it's screwing up the layout of my home page! Pushing the social media buttons too low, etc. How do I turn off/remove this dang CAPTCHA field!
Also, how do I link the newsletter sign-up to Mail Chimp. Their support says my sign up fields are not properly linked to Mail Chimp.

Do you have a URL of your website that we can look into so I can look at the source code? Depending on how that web form was inserted, you either have to edit the form in Site Manager > Web Forms or you'll need to edit the form in the template or page where it was inserted. I don't know if the web form was created in BC or MailChimp.
As for MailChimp, there's no supported integration but all you have to do is create your list in MailChimp and then design the signup form for it on MailChimp. On the form creator screen there's a tab called "Share It" and the 3rd option is to "Create Form HTML" and this will give you an HTML code version of your form to put on your website instead of as an IFRAME embed or Javascript embed. You could just grab everything inside the FORM element of the MailChimp Form HTML and paste it into your web page or template on BC.

Change the background color of a table created by ADDT (Login)
I am trying to change the background color of a table in the login form created by the developer's toolbox. I then go and select the table and change the background color. But it has no effect. The only insight I have is when I delete this "" from the Action in the form, then the table's background color changes. As far as I can tell this line of code is only return the url of the page.
I am not understanding something.
Does anyone have any insight?

the CSS rules comes from something called Skins..
see mxkollection2.css.
KT_XXX are the class ID's for table names.
if u change this rule it will effect all the tables which use that rule in ur whole website.
u can try switching skins from ADDT control panel.
KT_tngtable is the tables css rule name defined in skins /Skinname/tng.css

Referencing a "checked record" from my ADDT Dynamic List using a SPRY Menu
I have just posted a Beta of my site to:

- Once you are logged in you should see the ADDT list w/one
order listed.
- Click on the Printer icon & the Order Agreement will
open in PDF. (this works fine)
- Click on the InfoSheet link & the Report will open in
PDF as well. (this works fine)
- Everything works fine if you use the links on the same line
as the record.
- But if you check the CheckBox on the left, then choose the
Spry Menu above, Reports/T1 Agreement the report will not work?
Question: What should the Link be to reference the checked
item below, pass the CustID value to the report & print the
PDF?
(Note: the CF report has the following line in the SQL:
(tblT1OrderProcessing2.T1CustID = #param.T1CustID#) and the report
prints fine in Report Builder if I pass it the T1CustID, as well as
if I click the links on the same line as mentioned above, so this
is just an issue of grabbing the CustID value from the checked line
& passing it to the report link in the Spry menu)

i am using Captcha Code, make new Task flow and fragment to be deployed on webcenter spaces, the code working correctly when am using in JDeveloper and make Run from JDeveloper, but when i deploy it on webcenter spaces and call this Task Flow from webcenter spaces the image not appear(The image using Servlet).

Do you see any error or warning messages in hte server log?
I don't think it's a adf or jdev problem as it runs OK using jdev. I more assume a configuration problem with webcenter spaces.
