ADF customize previous/next link action in ADF data table

in an ADF Data Table, how can i set an action method on the range links (i.e. next pagesize, previous pagesize links..),
I need to customize that. i want to check first if the transaction is dirty, display a save changes panel and then proceed to the navigation.

Hi brian,
I have no problems with the next/previous navigation button that you can drag and drop on the page in design view.
What Im talking about is on the ADF table. Im talkin about the Next/Previous links that only appears on runtime when there are more rows than the range size of the ADF table..

  • User Interface : position for previous/next links when browsing spreadsheet

    Hello,
    When you have a reasonable number of columns to display the html page width can be quite large. So you have to scroll right to get the previous/next set of records hyperlinks controls because by default they are located at the bottom right corner of the spreadsheet. This is not very user friendly.
    Is there a mean to specify a different location for the previous/next set of records hyperlinks controls ?
    Thanks in advance for your response. It will considerably enhance my apex experience.

    Yes, the "Pagination Display Position" lets you control where the pagination shows up. So you could put it top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right. IMHO there are pros and cons to each position.

  • ADF data table - posting changes without row change

    Hi,
    I’m using JDevloper 11.1.2.3.0 to build a master detail page (for ex, departments and employees) where both master and detail are editable. So, I dragged and dropped the master data control (departments) on the page as an ADF table. Then I dragged and dropped the detail data control (employees) on the page as an ADF table (the detail control is the one inside the master data control). Each table is inside a panelCollection.
    At run time, the page displays fine and when I change the selected row in the master, the detail table changes correctly.
    In the toolbar of each panelCollection, I added:
    •     The createInsert operation of the corresponding data control.
    •     A “save changes” button to commit the changes: the button is not the commit action of the module but instead it is a toolbar button linked to a method in the bean that execute the commit operation (using the bindings) and then reload the master data control (both master and detail buttons points to the same action).
    This is also working: if I change a field in the master table or create a new row and click the “save changes” button of the master table the changes are correctly posted. Same for the detail table if I change a field in the detail table or create a new row and click the “save changes” button of the detail table the changes are posted.
    The problem is when I add a row in the detail table for ex and click the “save changes” button of the master table (without changing the selected row in the detail), the changes are not committed. Same happen if I create a new row in the master table and clicked the “save changes” button of the detail table (also without changing the selected row in the master).
    It seems that the problem is that the table is not posting the changes when I directly click the “save changes” button of the "other table". If after adding a new row, I change the selected row before clicking the “save changes” button data is correctly saved whatever “save changes button” is clicked.
    So how can I make the table post the changes is this case?
    Or should I make the “save changes” button of the master table for ex disabled when I change something in the detail table and vice versa? (If yes how? The disabled property of the “save changes” buttons is currently: #{!bindings.Commit.enabled})
    Or should I have only one “save changes” button that saves all the changes on the page?
    Or …
    Is there any useful link i can check?
    Thank you.

  • How to extend/overwrite adf core datatable previous/next range operation?

    Hi,
    Can someone tell me where and how I can extend (or overwrite) default datatable's scrolling operation?
    I had a view object with one of its column is Ordimage. I created a datatable for this view object. Since Jdev 10.1.3 doesn't provider renderer for intermedia objects, I programmatically created image map for the image and stored the map reference in a string[] in a backing bean. With very simple form, this worked OK (i.e. correct set of images show properly when I pressed Previous/Next).
    However, in a Search form having a second iterator in find mode, the image doesn't show up when Next/Previous is pressed.
    Any idea?

    Can you compare your sample with example# 69 on my blog?

    maybe it can help identify what's not setup correctly.

                Level1ViewDef.registerDefObject();
                ViewObject vo1 = createViewObject("Level1View",Level1ViewDef);I can create the view objects fine and create a single viewlink between two of them, however i'm getting problems with 2 view links.
    This is how I'm creating a view link:
                ViewLink Level2Level1FKLink = createViewLinkBetweenViewObjects("Level2Level1FKLink1",
                                                        "Level2View",
                                                        vo1,

                                                          vo2.findAttributeDef("Level1")
                                                        "LEVEL1 = :Bind_Level1");
                ViewLink Level3Level2FKLink = createViewLinkBetweenViewObjects("Level3Level2FKLink1",
                                                        "Level3View",
                                                        vo2,

                                                        vo3,
                                                        new AttributeDef[]{
                                                          vo3.findAttributeDef("Level2")
                                                        "LEVEL2 = :Bind_Level2");I can get the data to display on an adf tree table if i'm only using a single view link, but when i try and implement 2 view link (for 3 levels on the adf tree table) i'm getting problems displaying the data.
    I'm getting the following error:
    Aug 10, 2007 2:44:39 PM oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.renderkit.core.xhtml.PanelPartialRootRenderer encodeAll
    SEVERE: Error during partial-page rendering

  • How to make a Previous/Next Menu

    Hi there.  This is my first time posting in the Adobe forums so please be patient if I don't do things correctly.
    I currently have the Adobe Web Design CS5 package and all the programs that come with it, but my question is specifically about Dreamweaver.  My computer is a Macbook with the latest operating system as far as I know.
    I've been trying to create a next/previous menu for parts of my own personal website.  It's http://www.aidenart.com . If you click on the link to the Concept Art page you should see a bunch of image thumbnails that act as links.  Click on any one of those images and you're suppose to see the full image from the thumbnail in a whole new page.  On the pages with the full images I would like to include, at the bottom, a jump menu so that a visitor can pick any of the pages that they might want to see (I already know how to do this part), but I would also like to include buttons which allow the visitor to visit the next image in the list and also the previous one in the list.  You know, a previous and next menu.  I've seen other websites using those kinds of buttons so I know it's possible somehow.
    By looking at the source code of some websites and doing a bit of research on my own, I think this can be done using javascript of some kind.  Maybe by using an "onClick" behaviour or something.  I looked at a few different web help sites, including W3 Schools, and I still haven't found any clear cut explanations on how to make a previous/next menu.  If someone could just show me the basic code for making a simple one that actual works then I could probably work from that.
    I would prefer it if I didn't have to bother with the dreamweaver extenstions section because most things listed in the exchange are something you have to pay for.  And for those of you who think I should just make individual links on each page, please keep in mind that I'll want to add more pages in the future.  Most likely a lot of pages.  I also want to be able to make previous/next menus for the comics section of my website for when I have more comic pages available, so I really need to know how to do this.
    I hope that was enough information for you guys.  I can try to provide code if you guys want although I'm not sure how that would help solve my current problem.

    Only way to do pagination effectively requires either a database or XML files containing your data.  Neither way is really for a beginner based on my experience with both.  And based on the size of your library right now, pagination isn't what you really need.
    If it is going to be an image gallery you could look into the php Gallery script if you have a mySQL database ( http://gallery.menalto.com/ ).  But for simple solutions.
    For even smaller solutions you can look to JQuery solutions.  They require minimal amounts of coding, mostly just file inclusions.
    http://galleria.aino.se/
    http://fancybox.net/
    http://www.twospy.com/galleriffic/#1
    It's just about finding one that meets your needs and gives you the ability to customize as you see fit.

  • An extra column of a query in an ADF Faces Table?

    Hi to all OTN Community...
    I use ADF Faces, Toplink and EJB 3.0 in JDevelooper 10.1.3.1.0, and i have a question...
    I need to show in an adf faces table, the result of a query like this
    SELECT COLUMN1, COLUMN2, COUNT(*)
    FROM TABLEX
    GROUP BY COLUMN1, COLUMN2
    I do this query in the TableX named queryes...and then i have acces to this named query in the dataControl, but, when i drag and drop the dataControl to a jsf page, this only shows the columns of the tableX. Then, i want to know, ¿How can i show the count(*) column in the page in a dataControl?
    PD: i want to show in the adf faces table the same result if i execute that query in an sql client.
    Thanx in advance...
    Darklorddany

    Darklorddany,
    The solution to this is to add an additional method on your EJB 3.0 session-bean that exposes an dynamic TopLink report (projection) query.
    The TopLink code within the method would leverage your existing TopLink mappings to do the query like:
            ReportQuery rq = new ReportQuery(Employee.class, new ExpressionBuilder());
            rq.addAttribute("firstName");
            rq.addAttribute("lastName");
            rq.addCount();
            rq.addGrouping("firstName");
            rq.addGrouping("lastName");
            List<ReportQueryResult> results = (List<ReportQueryResult>)session.executeQuery(rq);The ReportQueryResult objects are very generic map/row type containers that will not work well in your ADF binding layer. With JPA you can specify and ad-hoc Java class to contain such projection results that make them a little easier to use in clients. This functionality will be available in the next release of TopLink. Until then you will need to write some code to convert to your own result class for this query.
    In my case I'll create a simple POJO like:
        public class EmployeeNameCount {
            private String firstName;
            private String lastName;
            private int count;
            public EmployeeNameCount(String firstName, String lastName, int count) {
                this.firstName = firstName;
                this.lastName = lastName;
                this.count = count;
            public String getFirstName() {
                return this.firstName;
            public String getLastName() {
                return this.lastName;
            public int getCount() {
                return this.count;
        }Now I combine the previous report query code into an EJB 3.0 session bean method:
        @TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.SUPPORTS)
        public List<EmployeeNameCount> findEmployeeNamesWithCount() {
            Session session = getSessionFactory().acquireSession();
            ReportQuery rq = new ReportQuery(Employee.class, new ExpressionBuilder());
            rq.addAttribute("firstName");
            rq.addAttribute("lastName");
            rq.addCount();
            rq.addGrouping("firstName");
            rq.addGrouping("lastName");
            List<ReportQueryResult> results = (List<ReportQueryResult>)session.executeQuery(rq);
            session.release();
            List<EmployeeNameCount> empNameCounts = new ArrayList<EmployeeNameCount>(results.size());
            for (ReportQueryResult rqr: results) {
                String fname = (String)rqr.getByIndex(0);
                String lname = (String)rqr.getByIndex(1);
                int count = ((Number) rqr.getByIndex(2)).intValue();
                empNameCounts.add(new EmployeeNameCount(fname, lname, count));
            return empNameCounts;
        }You will also need to make sure the method exists on your EJB 3.0 session bean's interface as well. Then regenerate the data control for your session bean and you should have access to drag and drop this query with its results into your JSF pages.
    As mentioned this use case will be much simpler and declarative in the next release.

  • Paginate 1-15 16-30... without next link?

    I have a report with more than 100 rows in it on some occasions, I have selected Pagination Scheme of Row Ranges 1-15 16-30 (with set pagination) under Layout and Pagination on the Report Attributes tab.
    My problem is with that Next > (and < Previous) link, that appears, when there is more than 75 rows on the report. I understand the meaning of it, but I would like there to be just links 76-90 etc following the others NOT the link Next, because:
    * it might confuse some users, who would think that it leads to the next set of rows not the next set of pagination (eg when viewing rows 1-15 they would expect it to go to rows 16-30, but what it does is to change the pagination set)
    * when looking at a pagination like this I don't know whether there are just 76 rows on the report or over some 1000
    * it appears to be absolutely uncustomizable - I would like to change the image of > to match my web design, but I haven't found a way (except for changing the very image in HTMLDB image directory, which I don't want to do, because some other apps use the same picture and renewing HTMLDB version probably replaces it again). And, I would like to translate it into estonian, but that is also impossible.
    So, is it possible to have all row ranges without that next link? Or is it possible at least customize the link so that it would look as if intended on the place? Or is the only way to make my own pagination with Use Externally Created Pagination Buttons (or is it impossible even then?)?

    though the current implementation of that row ranges pagination scheme doesn't let you not show those previous and next links, you'll find quite a few pagination template customization options available at the bottom of the report template definition pages. you'd be able to enter your estonian Next and Previous strings there, too. you could also consider using application level substitution strings for those Next and Previous strings. that way your app would be more translation-friendly. so you'd define app-level sub strings as something like MY_NEXT_TEXT and MY_PREVIOUS_TEXT and you'd refer to them in your report template's pagination section (in the "Next Page Template" and "Previous Page Template" fields) as &MY_NEXT_TEXT. and &MY_PREVIOUS_TEXT.
    hope this helps,
    raj

  • ADF-Faces table and mass data

    Hello Oracle,
    we consider to use ADF-Faces with Spring and TopLink or Hibernate that supports all important commercial databases.
    We need a solution for selecting mass data and show them using a ADF-Faces component.
    ADF-Faces table looks great and is fine for for some hundred datasets. But we have customers who could do a select over 80.000 or more datasets and it cannot be the solution to load them completly in collection-model in memory.
    Do you have a solution or do you plan somthing? A JSF data table component for mass data (e.g. load from database on every "next or "previous" click)?
    Regards
    Florian

    I'm pretty new to ADF Faces etc. but I know the ADF Table component supports paging. If you're using ADF Business Components as the persistence framework it supports paging out of the box giving you exactly what you're looking for.
    If you're using EJBs or Toplink I think you have to write your own paging interface but I don't know this for sure.

  • Help needed! ADF Data Control: Navigation Buttons + Table  issue.

    Hey all!
    We are working on a new application using ADF JSF+EJB 3.0 stack and are experiencing a problem with a simple feature we need to implement.
    Scenario:
    - Creating a data control for a facade session bean and drag a List returned by one of its methods as table;
    - Dragging its corresponding navigation buttons (first, previous, next, last) from the data control onto the page.
    Issue:
    As we press those buttons, we see the page being submitted but but nothing changes in the table...It keep showing the same records all the time (buit-in range navigation works fine though). However, when we manage to drop the collection as a form (with nav buttons included), everything works fine.
    We have inspected pagedefs for both cases and could not identify the difference.
    Any help would be much appreciated as we need to address the issue asap..
    Thanks in advance,
    Gustavo
    PS: Sorry for my English! ;)

    Hey, i have the solve to my problem.
    In the definition page of the table page i change the propert Refresh (ifNeeded is his default value) to always of the iterator who im using to the table.But i use Toplink, then i had to change the property "Refresh Identity Map Results" to "enabled", that option is in the options of the named queries on queries in the toplinkmap of the current table who im using to my page.
    i hope this will be util for you.
    That's all

  • How to update ADF VO object to refresh the data in ADF Pivot table

    I need to know how to update the View object so that the date in pivot table is refreshed/updated/filtered.
    here are the steps I performed to create ADF pivot table application using VO at design time.
    1) created a collection in a Data Control (ViewObject in an ApplicationModule) that provides the values I wanted to use for row and column labels as well the cell values (Used the SQL query)
    2) Dragged this collection to the page in which wanted to create the pivot table
    3) In the pivot table data binding editor specified the characteristics of the rows (which attribute(s) should be displayed in header), the columns (likewise) and the cells.
    Now, I have a requirement to update/filter the data in pivot table on click of check box and my question is how to I update the View object so that the date in pivot table is refreshed/updated/filtered.
    I have got this solution from one of the contact in which a WHERE clause on an underlying VO is updated based upon input from a Slider control. In essence, the value of the control is sent to a backing bean, and then the backing bean uses this input to call the "filterVO" method on the corresponding AppModule:
    but, I'm getting "operationBinding" object as NULL in following code. Please let me know what's wrong.
    here is the code
    Our slider component will look like
    <af:selectBooleanCheckbox label="Unit" value="#{PivotTableBean.dataValue}"
    autoSubmit="true" />
    The setDataValue() method in the backing bean will get a handle to AM and will execute the "filterVO" method in that, which takes the NumberRange as the input parameter.
    public void setDataValue(boolean value) {
    DataValue = value;
    BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
    OperationBinding operationBinding = (OperationBinding)bindings.getOperationBinding("filterVO");
    Object result = operationBinding.execute();
    The filterVO method in the AMImpl.java will get the true or false and set the where Clause for the VO query to show values.
    public void filterVO(boolean value) {
    if (value != null) {
    ViewObjectImpl ibVO = getVO1();
    ibVO.setWhereClause("PRODUCT_TOTAL_REVENUE(+) where rownum < 10");
    ibVO.executeQuery();
    }

    Did you define a filterVO action in your pagedef.xml file?
