ADF Mobile webservice datacontrol parameter problem

Hi, I have a method in my WS which has a List lista as input parameter when I create the datacontrol It shows Object instead of list,
how can I solve this? I cannot use List<MyBean> because this is not awolled in adfmobile
I use Jdeveloper 11.1.2.3.0
--diego10.

Hi,
1. you actually need to create an entity of the type the list objects are of. E.g. Employee to represent a list of employees
2. You access the WS DC programmatically from Java and encapsulate it in an array of Employees (to follow my sample)
3. You use a POJO data control to expose the array list
private HashMap employeeListCache = null;
     * Query all employees from a Web Service and keep the value local.
     * @return Collection of Employees
    public Employees[] getAllEmployees() {
        Employees[] emps = null;
        if (employeeListCache == null) {
            employeeListCache = _findAllEmployees();
        emps = (Employees[])employeeListCache.values().toArray(new Employees[employeeListCache.size()]);
        return emps;
  private HashMap _findAllEmployees() {
        try {
            //renew all employee data
            employeeListCache = new HashMap();
            //invoke WS data control from this POJO
            ArrayList parameterNames = new ArrayList();
            ArrayList parameterValue = new ArrayList();
            ArrayList parameterTypes = new ArrayList();
            //Generic representation of a data control's data provider object. It exposes meta information about
            //the providers attributes and accessors, as well as the ability to get and set their values.
            //This interface abstracts the raw data provider object from the nature of its type of data control;
            //the raw provider can be a deserialized representation of an object returned by a SOAP or REST web
            //service call, or it can be an actual java class instance. This interface is used primarily by the
            //internals of the embedded java data control framework, however it can also be used when invoking data
            //control methods directly from application java bean code.
            GenericType employeesList =
                (GenericType)AdfmfJavaUtilities.invokeDataControlMethod("HrWSDC", null, "getEmployeesFindAll",
                                                                        parameterNames, parameterValue,
                                                                        parameterTypes);
            if (employeesList != null) {
                for (int i = 0; i < employeesList.getAttributeCount(); i++) {
                    GenericType row = (GenericType)employeesList.getAttribute(i);
                    Employees employee = (Employees)GenericTypeBeanSerializationHelper.fromGenericType(Employees.class, row);
                    employeeListCache.put(employee.getEmployeeId(),employee);
        } catch (AdfInvocationException e) {
            logApplicationMessage(Level.SEVERE, "Cannot read data from Web Service \n", ""+ e.getMessage());
        return employeeListCache;
    }Here's the full sample and doc:

    Did you test the WSDL by
    1)opening it in a browser and
    2)also by running it using the HTTP Analyzer ... I'm guessing the WSDL might have issues
    Also is your request and response included in the WSDL or they are referred to as separate files ?

  • ADF Mobile: WebService data control method call with array

    Hello All,

    <element name="acceptTask">

                <element maxOccurs="unbounded" minOccurs="0" name="taskID" type="decimal"/>
         </sequence>
       </complexType>
    </element>For the input to my binding, I have tried int[], Integer[] and List<Integer>. All of these result in similar errors.
    I have also tried invoking this through a regular ADF application and that works fine with an int[]. It looks like something specific to the ADF Mobile SOAP layer.
    Is this a bug or a restriction in the framework? Any workarounds that has worked for anyone?

    No luck. A WS DC method call with a simple parameter (java.lang.String or java.lang.Integer) works fine but I can't get it to work when there is an array input.
    I have tried WS methods with int arrays and simple string arrays without any luck. All of them result in a cannot serialize error.
    I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Are there any working WS Datacontrol samples with array inputs?

  • ADF MOBILE: Storing images into sqlite DB

    Can someone please show me how to store and retrieve images and other file types into the local sqliteDB.
    I know I have to use blobs, but what is the process of converting a file into a blob and converting a blob into a specific file (an image or pdf or word for example) and then displaying that image,pdf,word on an amx page.
    It is necessary i store these files in the local sqlite DB.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    this is not really an ADF Mobile but a SQLite problem. So quickly Googling for it you find a couple of hints, for example
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6090170/cannot-save-image-as-blob-to-sqlite
    See if the provided solution works for you

  • Is it possible to call wcf webservice on adf mobile?

    Hi all,
    I tried to consume a wcf webservice method on adf mobile by using java api as seen as below code snippet.
    I tried to run on classical adf generic application by creating webservice proxy. Then i could get response properly. But when i consume webservice method on adfmobile i get http 501 error response. I have tried using drag and drop into amx page and execute binding action, result is same.
    What might be the reason?

    No, as far as i know they are not secured service. What if they are secured, do i need to authenticate during consuming method in webservice proxy, dont i. But as i said before, i could consume and get response on webservice proxy in regular adf project.
    I can consume methods of another webservice (i.e. http://www.html2xml.nl/Services/Calculator/Version1/Calculator.asmx?WSDL) also in all methods that presented.
    No, i can not obtain access on another way to server, it is remote and out of my control.
    Ok, i tried as you say.
    Problem exists here too. May be an interopability problem on between adf platform and wcf service? What do you think Mr Shmeltzer?

  • Oracle ADF Mobile getting array of objects from webservice

    hi,
    i am trying to fetch a certain number of records using a webservice call and then storing in the SQLLite DB in the mobile.
    i understand i can create a data control using the webservice > then?
    my webservice returns an array of objects.
    how can i do that?
    regards,
    ad

    It's fairly easy.
    What I have done is created a WebService Controller (plain java class) which calls the methods (from the WS) programmaticly.
    Example :
    public class WSController {
        private final String WSDataControllerName = "ThisIsTheNameOfMyWebserviceDataControl";
        private List pnames ,ptypes ,params;
        public WSController() {
            super();
        public List getAllActioncodesFromWS()
           //start - WS empty params
            pnames = new ArrayList();
            params = new ArrayList();
            ptypes = new ArrayList();
            pnames.add("findCriteria");
            params.add(null);
            ptypes.add(Object.class);
            pnames.add("findControl");
            params.add(null);
            ptypes.add(Object.class);
            //end - WS empty params
            List actionCodes = new ArrayList();
            try
                GenericType result = (GenericType)AdfmfJavaUtilities.invokeDataControlMethod(WSDataControllerName, null, "findActioncodesView1",pnames, params, ptypes);
                if(result!=null)
                    for (int i = 0; i < result.getAttributeCount(); i++)
                        GenericType row = (GenericType)result.getAttribute(i);
                        Actioncode wd = (Actioncode)GenericTypeBeanSerializationHelper.fromGenericType(Actioncode.class, row);
                        actionCodes.add(wd);
            catch (AdfInvocationException e)
                e.getMessage();
            catch (Exception e)
                e.getMessage();
         return actionCodes;
        }I also defined a Pojo named Actioncode :
    Note that the attribute names are completly the same as the VO from the web service.
    public class Actioncode {
        String Actioncode,Descript1;
        public Actioncode() {
            super();
        public Actioncode(String Actioncode, String Descript1) {
            super();
            this.Actioncode = Actioncode;
            this.Descript1 = Descript1;
        public void setActioncode(String Actioncode) {
            this.Actioncode = Actioncode;
        public String getActioncode() {
            return Actioncode;
        public void setDescript1(String Descript1) {
            this.Descript1 = Descript1;
        public String getDescript1() {
            return Descript1;
    }Since the WS method returns a GenericType, you can 'convert' that object to an POJO.
    Read more about it here :
    http://adf4beginners.blogspot.be/2013/01/adf-mobile-how-to-iterate-over-all-rows.html
    I know the blog post is about iterating over rows in an iterator, but it's just to illustrate how you can work with the GenericType

  • ADF Mobile App integration with webservices, connection refused error

    I created an ADF application for department search with business components and exposed this as a webservice. I can access the WSDL locally from a browser. Then created an ADF mobile application and deployed it to android emulator. I am able to deploy the application to emulator and I can see the app on Android emulator. When I try to search for any department, I am getting "cannot connect to localhost on port 7101 : connection refused". My server is started already and the port number is also correct. Did any one came across this issue before? Even the WSDL URL is not accessible from the browser of android emulator.
    Edited by: adf_forum on Nov 16, 2012 2:16 PM

    Hi,
    One more thing to keep in mind is that Android emulator is itself a network host, and localhost will likely loop back into itself, i.e. emulator. Please try to set up the WLS to listen on an actual IP address for your development machine, create your WS DC using this real IP address, and then try to deploy/run the app.
    If you need to retrofit your app with an new IP address, please keep in mind there are several places you would need to manually fix up, including the connections.xml file.
    In general, if the device emulator's browser cannot hit a web service, then the ADF Mobile app will also not be able to hit a web service.
    The most reliable way is to treat the emulator like an actual device, then work out your application's connection accordingly.
    Thanks,
    Joe Huang

  • ADF Mobile sample - palm simulator and jar problem

    Hello.
    I got a few problems with ADF mobile tutorial. (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/101/tutorials/wireless/mobile2.html)
    1.     Palm Simulator has no web browser.
    As per description under ‘Prerequisites’ I downloaded the newest Palm Simulator (and some older version too). My Palm Simulator has no web browser. I found nothing how to add or enable web browser. In tutorial screenshots the Palm Simulator has always a browser.
    Where can I get a Palm Simulator with web browser or where can I get a free PPC Simulator for testing my application?
    2.     Incompatible jar-files.
    I’m using JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.4.3673. I think this is the newest version. Mobile.zip contains adf-faces-impl.jar and jsf-impl.jar. Both files have version 10.1.3.0.5. JDeveloper contains this files too. But version is 10.1.3.0.4! On starting oc4j I got an error with information about this version conflict.
    What is wrong on my environment? Did I miss important files? I found no newer ADF files at oracle web site. My solution is to replace the files in Mobile.zip with the older files from JDeveloper.
    With best regards
    C. Schmülling

    Hello Christian,
    The Palm simulator doesn't include a Web browser by default, You have to install it> Here is the URL where you can download the software: http://www.palmos.com/dev/tech/webbrowser/
    Concerning the jar-files it shouldn't be a problem. Just use the jar versions delivered with the Mobile.zip and it should run.

    Googling your problem doesn't seem very hard.

  • ADF Mobile : Rest call to a webservice using https - Certificate Error

    I'm trying to connect to a web service giving json and which uses https. I am using the following code.
    Also SalesApp connects to https://abc.com
    RestServiceAdapter restServiceAdapter = Model.createRestServiceAdapter();
    restServiceAdapter.clearRequestProperties();
    restServiceAdapter.setConnectionName("SalesApp");
    restServiceAdapter.setRequestType(RestServiceAdapter.REQUEST_TYPE_GET);
    restServiceAdapter.setRetryLimit(0);
    restServiceAdapter.setRequestURI("/sales/rest/v1/resources");
    try {
    response = restServiceAdapter.send("");
    I am getting an error of " Certificate was issued by an unrecognized entity ".
    Is there anyway to ignore the certificate warning ? Any request properties which can help with this?
    I'm not looking at adding any private certificates/verfying the certificate issued by server, just want to ignore the warning
    and proceed with the rest call.

    Hi, sure you will need to register your private certificate with ADF Mobile's embedded JVM. This is a security mechanism - the JVM we embed will only recognize certificates from well-know CA out of box. However, you can register your private certificate with the JVM. The steps are described in the ADF Mobile Developer Guide: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35521_01/doc.111230/e24475/security.htm#CDDCCDFF.
    Please note that you will need to be very careful when registering the JVM - extra spaces for example will cause certificate error and it could be hard to diagnose. Please ensure all the fields matches exactly with your private certificate's fields.
    Thanks,

  • Problem with ADF Mobile on Android

    Hi,
    I'm trying to run a very simple test with adf mobile on android emulator.
    But when I try to open the app, the splash screen never changes.
    Only when I go to the menu and I return to the app from the device menu, this show the main screen.
    And...
    When I try to open a very simple amx page, the app launch a message that says
    Failed to initilize the AdfcContext{classname: oracle.adfmf.framework.api.Model; method: pushPageFlowScope; params: ; }
    Somebody can help me?
    I am using:
    ADF Mobile Framework oracle.adf.mobile 11.1.2.4
    Android sdk 22
    Message: http://db.tt/mIqcekCI
    Log: http://db.tt/0frlguNq
    Thanks!

    Hi, there, a couple of things to double check on your emulator settings:
    When configuring the Android emulator, please make sure the emulator emulates ARM Processor (armeabi - v7).  ADF Mobile only works with ARM processors - both device and emulator.
    Under Memory Options, please ensure RAM is at least 768 or greater.  This of course is also constraint by the amount of memory your development machine has, but generally you should have at least 768 MB allocated.  ADF Mobile app itself won't take up nearly that much RAM of course, but there are a lot of Android apps that are started in the background when Android emulator starts.
    Also, make sure there is 500 MB of internal storage configured - you can go as low as 200 MB but the space will quickly.
    Lastly, before you compile/deploy again, please go to JDeveloper menu item Build - Clean All to clean up any left over deployment artifacts.
    Thanks,

  • ADF/Swing/JClient application migration problem from 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.3

    Hi,
    I am migrating an application from JDev 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.3 in order to deploy it to a java 1.6 JVM which is only certified with JDev 11.1.1.3
    No matter what I do the DataBindings.cpx file content is emptied by the IDE, the migration was successful => no errors displayed.
    I tried to solve the problem by doing the following but the file stays empty:
    1) the removing the project from the application and adding it again, migration is done again => FILE EMPTY
    2) adding manually the content in the source file then running XML validation => no errors, I close the file, reopen it and EMPTY AGAIN!
    Your is needed and will be appreciated!
    Thanks
    Fred

    Ok it seems I have resolved my problem see end of thread
    Still have following relevant question for an Oracle team member:
    Why is my <pageMap/> empty in my migrated application cpx file?
    => when I create a new ADF Swing application this tag is not empty:
    in new file:
    <pageMap>
    <page path="view.PanelPhotolabVO1" usageId="view_PanelPhotolabVO1PageDef"/>
    </pageMap>
    <pageDefinitionUsages>
    <page id="view_PanelPhotolabVO1PageDef"
    path="view.pageDefs.PanelPhotolabVO1PageDef"/>
    in migrated file:
    <pageMap/>
    <pageDefinitionUsages>
    <page id="PanelWeventEditParamVO1UIModel"
    path="com.photoswing.view.web.PanelWeventEditParamVO1UIModel"/>
    Solution to empty migrated cpx file:
    It seems the migration utility couldn't cope with the BC4JDataControl definitions, so I edited them manually.
    Example of 10.1.3... syntax:
    <dataControlUsages>
    <BC4JDataControl Configuration="BaseTablesAMLocal"
    Package="com.xxx.model.system"
    xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/datacontrol"
    id="BaseTablesAMDataControl"
    FactoryClass="oracle.adf.model.bc4j.DataControlFactoryImpl"
    syncMode="Immediate">
    <Parameters>
    <Parameter name="FactoryClass"
    value="oracle.adf.model.bc4j.DataControlFactoryImpl"/>
    <Parameter name="SupportsFindMode" value="true"/>
    <Parameter name="Configuration" value="BaseTablesAMLocal"/>
    <Parameter name="SupportsTransactions" value="true"/>
    <Parameter name="Package" value="com.photoswing.model.system"/>
    <Parameter name="SubType" value="DCBC4J"/>
    <Parameter name="Name" value="BaseTablesAMDataControl"/>
    <Parameter name="id" value="BaseTablesAMDataControl"/>
    </Parameters>
    </BC4JDataControl>
    New syntax:
    <BC4JDataControl id="BaseTablesAMDataControl"
    Package="com.xxx.model.system"
    FactoryClass="oracle.adf.model.bc4j.DataControlFactoryImpl"
    SupportsTransactions="true" SupportsFindMode="true"
    SupportsRangesize="true" SupportsResetState="true"
    SupportsSortCollection="true"
    Configuration="BaseTablesAMLocal" syncMode="Immediate"
    ExceptionMode="Immediate"
    xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/datacontrol"/>
    Tip:
    Do this editing outside JDev with ide closed to avoid crashing it.
    Regards
    Fred
