  • Insert values in multiple tables. One of the tables has complex primary key.

    Hello, I am using Jdeveloper version 11.1.2.3.0
    I have a table FORM_TYPE and another table Str. The Str table is used to translate strings from the table name which are read from another program from the database and used to generate forms..
    The FORM_TYPE  table has a relation to the STR table via formtype.title_str_id = str.str_id.
    The STR table has a primary key that is depending on mf_language and str_id columns. I generated entity for the STR table but can't insert from the application module new values for some reason... It says the record invalidates its own entity..
    I am trying to create a table that will be editable and will have the columns Description, Name, Str in English, Str in French etc...
    Want to create a Form_Type and in the same time to insert new values for each language... But can't make the inserts of the new STR work..
    Also the    FormType.TITLE_STR_ID has many values null already in the database.
    SELECT FormType.DESCRIPTION,
           FormType.FORM_TYPE_ID,
           FormType.NAME,
           FormType.PAPER_REPORT_FORMAT,
           FormType.PAPER_REPORT_NAME,
           FormType.TITLE_STR_ID,
           en.str en_str,
           en.str_id,
           en.object_name en_object_name,
           fr.str,
           fr.str_id,
           fr.object_name,
           du.str,
           du.str_id,
           du.object_name,
           bg.str,
           bg.str_id,
           bg.object_name
    FROM FORM_TYPE FormType,
    (select str.str_id, str.mf_language_id, str.str, str.object_name
    from mf_language ml,  str
    where ml.mf_language_id = str.mf_language_id
    and ml.code ='en') en
      , (select str.str_id, str.str, str.object_name
    from mf_language ml,  str
    where ml.mf_language_id = str.mf_language_id
    and ml.code ='fr') fr,
      (select  str.str_id,   str.str, str.object_name
    from mf_language ml,  str
    where ml.mf_language_id = str.mf_language_id
    and ml.code ='du') du,
      (select  str.str_id,  str.str, str.object_name
    from mf_language ml,  str
    where ml.mf_language_id = str.mf_language_id
    and ml.code ='bg') bg
    WHERE
    formtype.title_str_id = en.str_id and
    formtype.title_str_id = fr.str_id and
    formtype.title_str_id = du.str_id and
    formtype.title_str_id = bg.str_id

    Tried that I made view links and associations but still can't insert in both tables at once... Could be because the tables aren't having relationship between them or because the STR table has a (STR_ID, MF_LANGUAGE_ID) primary key...

  • Getting errors when updating a column on a table having a primary key

    Hi,
    I have an application on Oracle APEX that raises the following error after an attempt (through the application) to update a column with no specific constraint on it:
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 17: PL/SQL: ORA-00936: missing expression ORA-06550: line 1, column 9: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignoredUnable to fetch row.
    The involved table has a primary key conatraint and the corresponding column can be populated by a sequence (but there is no trigger to manipulate the sequence).
    The sequence is mentioned in the involved page definition for populating the primary key.
    If I disable the primry key and set to null the corresponding value for the primary of the record to be updated, then it is possible to update that record (thus the above column) through the application.
    Did someone encountered this situation before?
    If yes, what was then your workaround/solution?
    Kind Regards.

    Dear user8058501 ,
    Firstly) Did you check
    Auto Row Fetch (After upgrade to 4.0.1)
    Automated Row Fetch on Table with Synonym causes ORA-00936: missing expr.
    Secondly) If the problem is not resolved, Would you provide a sample on apex.oracle.com with workspace/developer account to be able to help you
    Please, if this solves your question, mark it as Correct. Otherwise as helpful.
    Best Regards
    Mahmoud

  • I want to define the Source Table from the Oralce Database. 11.1.1.3

    Dear all,
    How can i Define the Source table to take data from Oracle Database, and the target to be Essbase ?
    Another Qusetion
    Have i use the ERPi in FDQM ?
    If i have Why u should use ERPi ? ?

    Please note that the example in the admin guide is looping through a recordset and doing an append. If you are importing a large amount of data from a source table, this script is not efficent and will result in out of memory errors. You would want to do an insert into on the work table during the import process. This can be done using the FDM API.

    Hi,
    Foreign key columns are frequently used in join criteria when the data from related tables is combined in queries by matching the column or columns in the FOREIGN KEY constraint of one table with the primary or unique key column or columns in the other table.
    For more information about the foreign key constraint, please refer to this link:

  • How do I take advantage of all the space I should have!?

    My iPod nano(2G) isn't being able to use all of its space for music. I should be able to use 1.83Gs, but it doesn't even let me add ONE SONG! How do I take advantage of all the space I should have!?!?!?!?!?!
      Windows XP

    What format are the songs you have imported? The advertised song capacity of iPod is based on 4 minute songs encoded in AAC format at a bit rate of 128 kbps. Longer songs and songs encoded at a higher bitrate or in uncompressed formats take up more space, that's probably why you are getting fewer on. Go to iTunes and right click on one of your songs, choose Get Info>Summary and look at "Kind" to see what format you are using: iTunes: About import settings and hard disk space

  • When I share a link (URL) only Apple computers receive the link. Others such as PCs and Blackberries get the message, but the field which should have the link is blank. Is this normal?  Why can I only send to Apple machines?

    when I "share a link" (URL) using the pulldown menu in Safari, the email goes to all addresses I indicate, but only Apple computers receive the link. Others such as PCs and Blackberries get the message, but the field which should have the link is blank. Is this normal?  Why can I only send to Apple machines?

    I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
    When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
    At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
    I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • Mapping tables with no primary key defined

    Hi!
    I was just wondering if it's possible to map a table with no primary key? The reason why is that I have a logging table that I want to access, which is built very simple and the only useful filtering criteria that I'll be using there is a date column.
    Regards,
    Bjorn Boe

    TopLink requires that an object have a primary key to determine identity, perform caching, and database updates and deletes. It is best to define a primary key in all your objects; a sequence number can be used if the object has no natural primary key. The primary key does not have to be defined on the database, as long as a set of fields in the table are unique you can define them to be the primary key in your TopLink descriptor.
    If your table truly has no primary key, nor unique set of fields, it is still possible to map the table with some restrictions. If you disable caching, and mark the object as read-only, and never update or delete the object, you can map it for read-only purposes.
    You will need to do the following:
    - Set any field as the primary key to avoid the validation warning.
    - Set the cache type to NoIdentityMap.
    - Set the descriptor to be read-only.

  • How can I use the SQL to create a primary key for a existing table?

    create table a(bm number,mc varchar2(20));

    me error,how can I write the right one?

    create table a(bm number,mc varchar2(20));
    when the table was created,i want to make the column bm as
    the primary key and my SQL is "alter table a enable primary key bm",the system show
    me error,how can I write the right one? You do not have any primary key defined on your table yet, so, it does not make sense to enable it (if at all possible) !
    You need to add PRIMARY KEY using something like this:
    SQL> alter table a add constraint pk_a_bm primary key (bm) ;

  • Don't have primary Key in Target table getting errror while creating index

    Hi All,
    I don't have primary key column in target table, while exicuting mapping I got a error while creating INDEX.
    Could you please help how to slove this

    Hi,
    That is a process definition issue.
    If you don't have a PK then:
    1) or you don't execute updates
    2)or you have an alternate Key to update it.
    Case 1) just change the KM to IKM Control Append
    Case 2) at interface, go to each column what is Alternate Key and check it as key (click at column and check the box Key at bottom of propriety window).
    Does it work to you?

  • How to make a form using a wizard when the table has no primary key ?

    Hi,
    I want to make a form to update, delete a table. The table has no primary key. The problem is that the Wizard ask for a primary key.
    How to avoid using a primary key ? i mean I don't want to create a primary key if is is possible.
    I would like to use the wizard; is it possible ?
    Thank you for your kind answers.
    Christian

    I believe the key is choosing 'Interactive' as opposed to 'Classic' in the implementation and then you can choose 'Existing Trigger' for the primary key source and it should work to use an existing column as your proimary key.

  • Tabular Form on Table with no primary key

    I have many tables defined with Unique Index (instead of Primary Keys). This allows my user to update/insert the value of the unique index. When I try to create my form in HTML DB, it makes me put in the primary key. If I choose th column that has the unique index, it will not let me update or insert that value. How can I achieve this?

    Create a surrogate PK called rec_id or something and populate that using a BEFORE INSERT row-level trigger
    create sequence pk_seq;
    create or  replace trigger trg
    before insert on t
    for each row
    begin
    select pk_seq.nextval into :new.rec_id from dual;
    end;
    /Tell the HTML DB wizard about this new PK (rec_id), should work fine
    Hope this helps.

  • Help.......... required :Database table with no primary key

    Hi All,
    I have a table sponsor_logos whose structure is as follows:
    sl__sponsorid number,
    sl__clubid number,
    sl_hallno varchar2(7) not null,
    sl_logofilename varchar2(100) not null,
    sl_date_modified date not null
    Where in the sl__sponsorid and sl__clubid are foreign keys and I do not have any primary key for the table.
    I need to insert into and also delete records from the table.
    I have gone through various topics in the java forum for EJB's to find out what design strategy should I use?
    Some say that if a table does not have primary keys, and if the table is represented by a CMP entity bean all the fields of the table are considered as a part of primary key.In that case what would my code look like and what would my deployment descriptor contain?????
    According to the specification, the CMP or a BMP represents a unique record in a database.In that case should I be using a Session bean to handle insertions and deletions for the table?
    Since this is my first project with EJB's I am really confused as to what design should I be using for this situation. Since I have a time constraint I can't take a long time to decide on what strategy I should use.
    Suggestions regarding this are welcome .

    Hi Maris,
    I have my PK class ready with all the fields in it.
    Deployment descriptor ready with <prim-key-class>package.SponsorLogoPK</prim-key-class>
    . According to descriptor specification there is no need to have an entry for
    <primkey-field>bookingSlNo</primkey-field>
    in case of custom primary key .
    So I have omitted <primkey-field>bookingSlNo</primkey-field>
    I have used the verifier tool and verified the ejb , no errors with regards to this ejb, but , getting errors while deploying:
    An error has occurred.
    Deployment Error -- Error while running ejbc -- Fatal Error from EJB Compiler -- JDO74025: JDOCodeGenerator: Caught an Exception validating CMP bean 'SponsorLogoBean' in application 'resnet_ejb' module 'E:\Sun\AppServer\domains\domain1\applications\j2ee-modules\resnet': JDO72335: If the table SPONSOR_LOGOS for the bean corresponding to the generated class com.resnet.squash.api.entity.SponsorLogoBean483209734_JDOState is mapped as the primary table, it must have a primary key. Choose a different primary table or verify that the contents of the schema file are correct.
    Now what could the problem be . Do I need to do any other setting in the descriptor. I have the cmp-mapping also intact.

  • ResultSet updateRow ,insertRow ,deleteRow APIs on table with no PRIMARY KEY

    Hi,
    When I use ResultSet.insertRow , updateRow ,deleteRow API's on a table which contais no primary key column I find the following Exception ,
    java.sql.SQLException: Operation invalid. No primary key for the table
    at com.tandem.sqlmx.Messages.createSQLException(Messages.java:69)
    at com.tandem.sqlmx.SQLMXResultSet.getKeyColumns(SQLMXResultSet.java:3501)
    at com.tandem.sqlmx.SQLMXResultSet.prepareInsertStmt(SQLMXResultSet.java:3652)
    at com.tandem.sqlmx.SQLMXResultSet.insertRow(SQLMXResultSet.java:2073)
    at testdateupdate.main(testdateupdate.java:33)
    It looks like the table needs to have a primary key column to update or insert or delete rows using the ResultSret APIs.
    I use a proprietary JDBC driver. I find the Explanation for this behavior like this ,
    JDBC allows update stmts on tables w/out a primary key defined if the stmt is issued by the application. For updateable ResultSets, a primary key restriction is required to avoid updating more rows than desired.I dont understand this explanation and also I dont find this behavior is some other JDBC drivers that I tried with.
    Some one Please Clarify the same.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Jay

    Hi,
    in simple words, when a table does not have primary key you can send update and delete on it only by using a Statement object. When using ResultSet.updateRow or ResultSet.deleteRow the jdbc looks for the primary key on the metadata in order to send the correct where clause to the rdbms. I think that this could maybe work with Oracle DBMS, which has a unique id (ROWID) for each record.

  • Configure CDC on tables not having Primary Key

    Hi,
    On one of our client majority of tables in their huge database are not having primary key. While starting journaling ODI-15021 error is being thrown. Is there any way to configure CDC on those tables. Even we are not in a situation to create logical primary key on ODI level. Client is asking for an oracle document which talks about such restriction. Kindly help me out. I've gone through documentation as well metalink. I'm not able to find any information regarding it.
    Regards,
    Shashi Ranjan

    Hi,
    Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. Let me describe my situation bit more clearer. I've configured ODI CDC on one schema which contains 1200 tables. I tried to configure primary key on each data store in source model but being an integrator, I'm not the right person to decide primary key on tables so, I reverted back to client to create primary key on tables or suggest what should be primary key. Now, client is asking for an oracle document stating that primary key is mandatory. They have such 20 schema with similar huge number of tables. I've gone through various documents and meta-links but no luck. Need urgent help on it.
