ADF tree example

I'm trying to create a tree in my web application that shows
(country -> locations -> departments -> employees ).
I tried using the following link
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/101/tutorials/e2etopfaces/e2etopfaces.htm#t3
This example shows only 2 levels (Location, department).
Are there any examples for multi-level tree web applications?
Thank you.

There is a patch for JDeveloper available on MOS that fixes the issue of not being able to drag & drop a tree on a page.

  • How can an ADF Tree be configured to work with varying levels of heirarchy?

    We have a need for a Locations tree that represents the Locations heirarchy for any one of our clients. Depending on the client the number of levels in a location heirarchy could range from 1 to 9.
    I have created 9 different tree bindings and I can change the tree binding in the jsp page - the example below is for a client with 4 location levels.
    <af:tree value="#{bindings.ScdLocs4View1.treeModel}" var="node"
    binding="#{backing_locations.tree2}" id="tree2">
    For a client with 5 location levels, I'd like to programatically change the value to
    #{bindings.ScdLocs5View1.treeModel.  How can I do this?
    I was thinking I could use the setValue method on the tree control in my page's backing bean.  But I have been unable to get a reference to the tree binding.
    I don't see an appropriate method for finding a Tree Binding.  There are methods for finding an Iterator Binding, an Executable Binding, or a Region Binding (whatever that is).  But how do I "find" a reference to a Tree Binding?
    I have also given consideration to using a single Tree Binding with 9 levels (or rules in the Tree Binding Editor) and finding a way to  programatically "start" the rendering at a particular level (or rule) - in effect telling the ADF Tree control to ignore some number of rules and begin with the specified rule.  But I haven't been able to figure out how to do this either.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Bill,
    A tree binding is a particular kind of control binding, so you can find it as a control binding and then cast it to the more specific interface to work with it.

  • ADF Tree Table Repeats Elements at All Levels in nodeStamp Facet

    Hi
    I have an issue with ADF Tree Table (af:treeTable) whereby if I add a component to a group under the 'nodeStamp' facet it repeats for all levels in the tree even those outside the group.
    Overview:
    - 3-level master-detail structure created using ADF Business Components (3 view objects connected by 2 view links)
    - ADF Tree Table based on master-detail
    - Requirement to show 3 levels of data in the first column as a tree
    - Tree table is rendering correctly showing values for 'node.FullName', 'node.DisplayValue' and 'node.HoursType' respectively in a 3 level tree.
    - When another component is added to the top node in the tree ('node.FullName') for example some output text ('node.TimeBuildingBlockId'), it is displayed along side components 'node.DisplayValue' and 'node.HoursType' as well.
    Code snippet:
          <af:treeTable value="#{bindings.PerPeopleFVO1.treeModel}" var="node"
                        selectionListener="#{bindings.PerPeopleFVO1.treeModel.makeCurrent}"
                        rowSelection="single" id="tt1" styleClass="AFStretchWidth"
                        horizontalGridVisible="true" verticalGridVisible="true"
                        disableColumnReordering="true" summary="Timecard Entry"
                        displayRow="selected" expandAllEnabled="false"
                        contentDelivery="immediate" autoHeightRows="24"
                        columnStretching="column:column1"
                        binding="#{pageFlowScope.TimecardMB.tree_binding}">
            <f:facet name="nodeStamp">
              <af:column id="c1" headerText="Partner Details" width="500">
                <af:group id="g4">

                </af:group>
                <af:outputText value="#{node.DisplayValue}" id="ot4"
                                inlineStyle="color:Green; font-weight:bolder;"/>
               <af:outputText value="#{node.HoursType}" id="ot5"/>
                <f:facet name="filter"/>
              </af:column>
            </f:facet>

              <af:outputText value="#{node}" id="ot2"/>
            </f:facet>

    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    Try using a switcher to distinguish all three levels of a tree. You can have three different facets, three different af:group 's.
    When you add in one level, it will not repeat in the other level.
    Please see the below snippet.
    <af:tree value="#{bindings.RefBusinessUnitView1.treeModel}" var="node"
    selectionListener="#{bindings.RefBusinessUnitView1.treeModel.makeCurrent}"
    rowSelection="single" id="t1">
    <f:facet name="nodeStamp">
    <af:group id="g1">
    <af:switcher id="s1"
    facetName="#{node.hierTypeBinding.viewDefName}">
    <f:facet name="model.RefBusinessUnitView">
    <af:group id="g2">
    <af:outputText value="#{node.Code}" id="ot1"/>
    </af:group>
    </f:facet>
    <f:facet name="model.RefProductFamilyView">
    <af:group id="g3">
    <af:outputText value="#{node.ProductFamilyName}" id="outputText1"/>
    <af:outputText value="#{node.PName}" id="outputText2"/>
    </af:group>
    </f:facet>
    </af:switcher>
    </af:group>
    </f:facet>
    </af:tree>

  • Error in ADF tree Expansion,need a quick help

    Hi,
    I created a ADF tree, with single level of hierarchy,i.e., just parent and child nodes.
    I added the respective two rules during tree creation for root node and child node.
    At runtime, it is showing the root nodes but on clicking the (+) sign, it is throwing an error in the log, as following:

  • ADF Tree Traversal from one node to its leafs

    Hello,
    after a titanic effort I have been able to add a checkbox next to each node of an adf tree table.
    This checkbox is based on an "helper" entity attribute (not mapped to a column table on the database).
    My next huge problem is to perform an automatic selection of all the checkboxes next to the nodes under the currently selected one.
    For example, if the user checks a checkbox in the second level, then all the checkboxes next to the nodes under that, belonging to level three and four must be checked.
    If this helps, in my case there are at most four levels.
    Up until now I can get all the information from the currently checked node, but I fail to navigate the hierarchy under it for the automatic checking. I think that one problem is to navigate all the rows in the (only) VO the tree is based on. For example, since the tree is not expanded at the beginning, if I iterate on the VO retrieved from the current selected node at the top level, I can't see any rows corresponding to any children. Maybe I just miss something.
    I have followed this example from Frank Nimphius, which only gets the current selected nodes, as I said, but no more. Maybe this is a good starting point, but I need to advance somehow.

    Hi,
    here is a sample of how to search in trees, which actually shows how to traverse trees from a specific node

    Given you have a transient attribute defined, each node (and instance of JUCtrHierNode --> getRow will give you access to the attribute for read/access). Note that because the checkbox is stamped in the context of the tree, upon selecting a parent node, you need to refresh the tree to show the selection state change

  • How to create ADF tree and poup menu?

    Hi,
    I want to create a ADF tree, when right click the tree nodes, it will display a menu.
    please give me some examples or work steps.
    thank you very much!

    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/web_masterdetail.htm#BJEBEEJD - should get you started with trees.
    A bit about context menu is here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31973/af_dialog.htm#ADFUI695

  • Self referencing VO in an ADF Tree

    Hi @all
    i want to create an ADF Tree and found the following helpful example:
    ADF Code Corner sample #32 show how to build a tree table from a self referencing VO:
    [http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/index-101235.html#CodeCornerSamples]
    But i still have two questions:
    1. How can i concatenate two attributes in the View Instance?
    Table looks like
    ID ParentID OrderNo ShortText
    ====================
    1 (null) 10 Text1
    2 1 20 Text2
    3 2 30 Text3
    4 1 50 Text4
    The result should be 10.20.30.
    2. For the first tree-level the change of the ShortText attribut works fine:
    OrderNo: 10 -> Text1
    OrderNo: 50 -> Text4
    (Tree->SelectionListener: #{bindings.WicNodeView1.treeModel.makeCurrent}
    RichTextEditor -> partialTrigger: t1 (the Tree))
    But not for the Sub-Levels:
    The Problem is OrderNo 30 shows also Text1 (and not Text3).
    Do i have to write a method (bean) for the Selection Listener or is there another (shorter) way (i am using Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.2.1.0)?
    Thanks for your help!
    Gregor

    Hi,
    this should work the same. You create a tree from a POJO Data Control based on your POJO Model. Expose another collection pointing to the same data set and drag it as the form. Use the setting on the tree configuration dialog to set the current row in the tree as the current in the form iterator.

  • Adf:tree change node icons

    Hi ,
    Is it possible to create adf tree like in this example - http://www.roseindia.net/jsf/RCFaces/RCF-tree-component.shtml.
    There is two options for tree defaultExpandedImageURL and defaultImageURL . I need implement such functionality in adf tree
    how can i do it ?
    Thanks in advance.

    with help of : zero linecodes you can achieve this in adf tree.
    so can you please tel the usecase.

  • Dynamic PPR in ADF Tree

    Is it possible to dynamically add a partial target to be rendered in the subsequent response in ADF Tree?
    Say for example I have a tree as follows:
    Root
    - Child 1
    - Child 1.1
    - Child 1.2
    - Child 1.3
    - Child 2
    - Child 2.1
    - Child 2.2
    Now I would like to re-render ONLY "Child 2.2" when "Child 1.3" is updated via "autoSubmit" or "f:ajax". Note the knowledge of the "node to be rendered" is not available during design time, i.e. it is only dynamically known when a value is being set in "Child 1.3" or for that fact any other node.
    I could bind the component to a UIComponent and then use "context.addPartialTarget(UIComponent)" but the way that I see it, component binding is a view build time process and when the tree nodes are being rendered, it uses the same UIComponent instance to render each of the nodes and would try to fetch each of the visible node and see whether a change has been made and partially render it accordingly on the condition whether it has been changed or not. I need a mechanism in which if I change "Child 1.3" and it specifies to partially re-render "Child 2.2", it shoud ONLY re-render child 2.2 and not any other node whatsoever.
    Is this currently possible? Moreover are <f:ajax> and ADF PPR interoperable?

    Glad to know the answer. Thank you. :)
    Here's a suggestion which is inline with JSF
    JSF 2.0 (or was it 1.2) defines PartialViewContext which has it's roots with <f:ajax>. PartialViewContext basically states all the client ID's which will be re-rendered durig this process with a mutable getRenderIds() collection (although it's mutable, it's not specified in the docs whether changing it will lead to actual changing of the list or not. It works for the Mojarra implementation in WLS 12.1 (Mojarra 2.1.5) but was not working in 10.3.5 (Mojarra 2.0.9). In any case I can always override the PartialViewContextFactory to provide a wrapper of PartialViewContext which supports mutating). What I would like to propose is that since I can dynamically state client ID's which needs to be re-rendered, I can state the client ID's of the node components and they be rendered accordingly. This would be very helpful since in our current implementation we were hoping to have a very optimized implementation of af:tree which could be having several nodes and each node can change depending upon a change in any other subsequent node.
    I have tried this new method and it works like a charm with other ADF components including components within iterators and switchers, howsoever it failed to work inside a tree. It would actually be a good addition/fix.
    Thank you once again.

  • [SOLVED] Trying to get ADF Tree to show Distinct results only

    Hello,
    I am trying to make an ADF Tree in JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0.4157.
    I have it show two levels, each level is from one column of my table.
    For example, if I had columns
    Sec_1
    1
    1
    2
    2
    and
    Sec_2
    4
    5
    6
    7
    I want it to show a tree that has
    1
    ---4
    ---5
    2
    ---6
    ---7
    But instead it shows as
    1
    ---4
    ---5
    1
    ---4
    ---5
    2
    ---6
    ---7
    2
    ---6
    ---7
    Is there any way I can fix this? I've tried changing my view objects to specify SELECT DISTINCT but that doesn't work because I need to include a primary key in each view object and the primary keys are of course already distinct.
    Sorry for the poor diagrams but I couldn't think of a better way to explain it.
    Thanks

    I guess I sould clarify a bit:
    I have a dropdown menu elsewhere on the form that chooses something from a separate column (main_column). When that is selected, the tree appears and shows the columns I mentioned. Sorry, I didn't think this other one might be relevant.
    So I have
    main_column
    a
    a
    a
    a
    b
    b
    b
    b
    Sec_1
    1
    1
    2
    2
    3
    3
    4
    4
    Sec_2
    3
    4
    5
    6
    3
    4
    5
    6
    The Master VO is for the main_view, and it then had a detail Sec_1 and in that is a detail Sec_2.
    I've made view links between all of them.
    The problem happens like I said in my above post is that the main_column (and a few others) are primary keys and need to be included. Especially main_column needs to be included in my view object because it is used in the view link with the dropdown box.
    Does that make sense? Sorry for not describing this well earlier, I was trying to simplify it.
    Basically the problem is:
    A view object needs to have a primary key
    A primary key has every value distinct
    using SELECT DISTINCT therefore selects every row.

  • About ADF Tree Shuttle.

    We had requirement to implement shutffle using ADF Tree component. There are nodes and sub-nodes within the ADF tree under both side of the Shuttle control.
    We are experiencing a few wierd problems, one of which is that the Nodes shuttled from one side to the other, but the Node Name are partially missing...
    We wonder if some experts can provide a sound example using ADF Tree shuttle.
    thanks
    Tao

    I don't think we can have tree inside shuttle.

  • How to populate a adf tree programmatically

    Hi,
    I am creating a adf tree (single select) which is the menu of my application.
    Each node of my tree is a command link.
    I am reading the data from a table through a view object (adfbc).
    I want to somehow manipulate my managed bean so that I can display selected rows (permission based) in the adf tree.
    If I am using the condition in the rendered attribute then the nodestamp facet is still rendered and there is a blank row displayed for a node which should not be displayed.
    The other way I was thinking to Iterate the entire tree in my managed bean and remove the nodes which should not be displayed.
    This way the tree is manipulated before it is endered and hence it will not have any blank row in the place of nodes not to be shown.
    Please let me know a few iterating code strip and where(in which method) I should put it in my managed bean to make it work?
    As of now I was putting a tree iterator code in the getMenuTree() method of my managed bean where menuTree is the RichTree object for the tree which I have to render in my UI.
    CollectionModel model = (CollectionModel)this.menuTree.getValue;
    treeBinding = (JUCtrlHierBinding)model.getWrappedData();
    JUCtrlHierNodeBinding root = treeBinding.getRootNodeBinding();
    checkPermission(root);
    List<JUCtrlHierNodeBinding> children = root.getChildren();
    if (children != null)
    for (JUCtrlHierNodeBinding _node : children)
    checkPermission(_node);
    checkPermission - is the method which reads few bindings from the node and decides that this node id eligible for display or not based on user permission.
    But with this code I am getting the node hierarchical structure of the selected node only.
    Thanks in advance

    I thought in this direction... but I cannot access the permission data from VO level as I have to provide this menu interface to multiple projects.
    And the menu I am creating is in a template from where I need to get permission bean of various other projects.
    any other suggestions ?

                ViewObject vo1 = createViewObject("Level1View",Level1ViewDef);I can create the view objects fine and create a single viewlink between two of them, however i'm getting problems with 2 view links.
    This is how I'm creating a view link:
                ViewLink Level2Level1FKLink = createViewLinkBetweenViewObjects("Level2Level1FKLink1",
                                                        "Level2View",
                                                        vo1,

                                                          vo2.findAttributeDef("Level1")
                                                        "LEVEL1 = :Bind_Level1");
                ViewLink Level3Level2FKLink = createViewLinkBetweenViewObjects("Level3Level2FKLink1",
                                                        "Level3View",
                                                        vo2,

                                                        vo3,
                                                        new AttributeDef[]{
                                                          vo3.findAttributeDef("Level2")
                                                        "LEVEL2 = :Bind_Level2");I can get the data to display on an adf tree table if i'm only using a single view link, but when i try and implement 2 view link (for 3 levels on the adf tree table) i'm getting problems displaying the data.
    I'm getting the following error:

  • View Criteria issue on ADF Tree

    Hi,
    JDev 11.1.1.5.0
    I am facing an issue while displaying ADF tree. I've created ParentVO & ChildVO from a single table with view criteria to filter the nodes.And then created two View links ParentToChild & ChildToChild.
    Added VOs & corresponding ViewLinks to ApplicationModule. When I tried to run application module, getting the results as per expectation (applying view criteria at each level).
    Now i've dragged the parent vo from data control on to jspx page. when I run the jspx page, it's displaying the tree structure.
    Issue is only view criteria is applying for top level nodes(parent VO) but not sub levels. If there is some issue with creation of View criteria then it should give same problem while executing AM. But while running AM, getting the expected results.
    It would be great if you provide any clue on this issue
    Thanks,
    Samba

    Thanks for your response.
    But my usecase is different. I need to filter the sublevels of the tree.
    Following is the sample
    Level1
         Level1.1
         Level1.2
         Level1.3
    Level2
         Level2.1
         Level2.2
         Level2.3
         Level2.4
    Level3
         Level3.1
         Level3.2
         Level3.3
    If I gave View Criteria as contains '2' then, Need to filter the nodes contains character 2. Able to filter first level nodes according VC. But VC is not applying for sub levels. Is there any way to set the VC in my case?

  • Question on the ADF Tree Table

    Hi, I am using Jdev 10.1.3.2 and ADF BC. I have created a ADF Tree Table to display multiple attributes, both the master and detail VO are based on the same EO. It seems all of attributes are displayed in one colume, and there is no column heading, is that possible to add column heading and display in multiple columns?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    actually the node stamp doesn't accept more than one column element
