ADF UIX Model State url Parameter

Hello
After pressing "submit" on UIX datapge the framework appends a parameter that looks like "searchImageUIModelState__=789C73720E0EB...." to the url wich looks realy ugly.
How can this parameter be passed in another way (session, cookie,...) instead of appending it to the url ????
further description:
My ADF UIX application contains a datapage called "searchImage.uix" (action "searchimage.uix.do). On this page a little form is displayed for entering a search term, and the results are listed below. I use url parameters (such as search_text) for passing the clients values to the server.
Thanks for your help in advance,
Philipp Stecher

hmmm, thanks for your answer.
But unfortunatly, i dont need this parameter at all. I thought about it again and from my apps view the parameter could as well be passed in a cookie or a session(sessions dont get lost when opening a new browser window, afaik)
Any help will be appreciated,
thanks

  • Save point with POJO DataControl not saving model state

    Hi Guys,
    JDEV 11.1.1.6 64bit
    I was able to get save points working with ADF BC (AppMod, View & Entity objects)
    but when I tried to do the exact same with Pojo DataControls, I won't save
    the current state of the model - meaning things are not "selected" to the
    proper record when the SP is restored. I don't get any errors, it just
    shows the wrong data.
    Example:
    The BTF is marked as must have transaction(tried either way), but this is Pojo, and doesn't support Trx.
    edit-emp-dept.jspx (with BTF Region)
    BTF START
        STEP 1: RichTable with bindings to Pojo DataControl (value="#{bindings.allDepts.collectionModel}")
                     (user selects the 3 record => sales department)
        STEP 2: Edit Sales Dept & on click to next step create SP
        STEP 3: View Emps (Rich Table of ALL emps in that DEPT)
        STEP 4: Edit Emp
        FINAL: COMMIT (save to pojo list) or CANCEL (don't save to pojo list)
    /BTF END
    At STEP 1 -> STEP 2, the SP is created, and when I close the browser at STEP2, 3  or 4, and
    restart, and choose SP to restore, it takes me to proper page (STEP 2)  but the wrong Department is
    selected to edit (it shows "Finance" instead of "Sales") & if I hit my ADF back button, it shows
    the table with "finance" selected.  In the ADF BC world it works perfectly.
    I know the docs say: the ADF Model is saved, so the question is why bindings.allDepts.collectionModel
    not "saved" here for Pojo DC and the ADF BC af:table value="#{bindings.DepartmentsView1.collectionModel}"
    it is "saved".
    Thanks for any insight or work-around.
    Sincerely,
    Joel

    Hi,
    the problem with POJO DC and other non-ADF BC models is that they don't passivate their state. In JDeveloper 12c we allow developers to extend their POJO classes with ADF lifecycle methods that allows them to save the model state themselves. Its a known issue that the transaction state cannot be saved for non-ADF BC models. I checked the bug database for bugs filed against this behavior but could not find one- I can imagine that with 12c we would have a chance to allow developers to handle passivation / activation for non-ADF BC model states. So if this is a feature you need then filing an enhancement request would make sense

  • ADF Faces + ADF BC : how to pass an url parameter to a backend business ser

    Hi,
    I'm using latest JDev studio version SU 3.
    My project is using ADF Faces with BC4J in the service layer.
    I have a backend application module which exposes a method taking a String parameter as an input (ex: void setUsername(String username))
    I need to have a jspx page which reads a parameter passed in the url (http://localhost/faces/registerUser.jspx?username=john) and send it to the backend service method when a submit is raised on a clicked button.
    It's pretty simple when using inputtext for example but not obvious if I want to use urm param instead of inputtext.
    How do I do this ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks a lot for your answers.
    The link http://www.it-eye.nl/weblog/2006/06/12/passing-a-url-parameter-to-model-using-adf/ is no more reachable.
    The following EL expression work for displaying the parameter inside an outputText component :
    #{facesContext.externalContext.requestParameterMap[’yourParameter&#8242;]}
    The parameter is not sent to the business service when the button is clicked.
    Thanks,
    Seb.

  • Information about adf data model's state management in JSF/ADF faces?

    Dear All,
    i am developing an application with JSF/ADF faces + using
    adf data model (EJB, not adf bc)...
    i want to know more about state management of adf data model..
    1. under what condition, will the data in the binding context
    (methodIterator, variableIterator, accessorIterator..etc) be maintained accross
    http requests? say browse pageA.jspx, pageB.jspx, pageC.jspx..then do data
    in the corresponding pages saved somewhere else until session timeout?
    2. how do the binding context data be saved ?? http session?
    i can't find detail information in the adf bc dev guide and the adf dev guide..
    could anyone give me more information about this?? any better document??
    i have asked these question several times...but seem nobody can give me a
    full picture about the adf data model's state management....it is quite important
    in order to develop good application using adf data model.
    my company have brought oracle's support service...can i get these information
    through metalink (open a SR) ?? or actually no such information available ??
    btw, after playing with adf data model for a few weeks, i do find it is very
    hard to learn it... no complete document, information is just by providing example...
    adf data model do make:
    1. simple logic, supported by adf, more simple in coding
    2. simple logic, not supported by adf, more complex in coding
    3. complex logic, much more complex in coding...brain damage..
    lsp

    Hi,
    actually, these pages don't explain the state management about the adf data model's iterators?
    i want to know the state management of the iterators...for some iterators..it's
    state is maintained across requests...
    please see my previous post: ADF JSF data binding: why state maintained between requests? that Frank Nimphius said:
    "in this case its the iterator that survives the page navigation"...
    in the adf dev guide..section 5.5.5..it says: "Upon each request, the iterator bindings are refreshed to rebind them to the
    underlying RowSetIterator objects. By default, the rowset iterator state and the
    data caches are maintained between requests."
    in dev guide, it seems state is maintained for request for the same page, but not
    accross different pages. but in fact, the rowset iterator do survive...
    any detail document that write down the actual behavior of the iterators?
    thank you.

  • Secure ADF URL parameter

    Hi All,
    I have exposed a URL  - http://<IP><Port>/WC/faces/main?userid=1234 - to be called from an EBS application with a parameter value "userid".
    While the connectivity and integration works as expected, I have noticed that the URL parameter (1234 in this example) is visible in the browser and can be accessed directly by calling from the browser window itself.
    Is there a way to secure the URL parameter such that the user is directed back to EBS login page when trying to access the URL directly in the browser window?
    I am using Jdeveloper version 11.1.1.7.
    Best Regards,
    Ankit Gupta

    Hi Frank,
    Thank you for sharing the information.
    The prime objective on passing the userid in URL is to display the user logged in EBS, with user-specific information in the ADF page.
    So when the url is called from EBS, the invoke action is triggered before the page load to refresh the underlying View Object using the userid passed, and display information on databound tables.
    Considering the above use case, is there a better approach of achieving the same?
    Best Regards,
    Ankit Gupta

  • ADF UIX: LOV searchText contains wrong value (maybe it is a bug)

    I'm developing a WEB-application using ADF UIX.
    I'm using JDeveloper 9.0.5.2 build 1618.
    I've created a form with a messageLovInput field.
    If I type e.g. Veszprém into the input field the content of the searchText parameter seems wrong. The URL is http://bela:8988/szszr/_ui.uix?_t=fred&enc=UTF-8&_minWidth=750&_minHeight=550&configName=BaseUIPBCfg1&contextURI=/szszr&redirect=/szszr/telepulesekLOV.do&source=levCimTelepules&searchText=Veszpr%C3%A9m&event=lovFilter
    And the value of the searchText string in the lovFilter event is
    [0] 'V' 86
    [1] 'e' 101
    [2] 's' 115
    [3] 'z' 122
    [4] 'p' 112
    [5] 'r' 114
    [6] ' ' 65533
    The interesting thing is that the final letter (m) is missing from the string!
    If I write Veszprém into the search field of the listOfValue and I press the Go button I get the right value in searchText.
    The web.xml contains the following part:
    <filter>
    <filter-name>ADFBindingFilter</filter-name>
    <filter-class>oracle.adf.model.servlet.ADFBindingFilter</filter-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>encoding</param-name>
    <param-value>UTF-8</param-value>
    <!--param-value>windows-1250</param-value-->
    </init-param>
    </filter>
    The encoding of the UIX pages is windows-1250.
    Any help is appreciated,

    Hi
    I have been having some trouble with accessing both the Boolean Binding Editor and the LOV Editor from the structure window, when in design mode of an ADF UIX page.

    the primaryclient action should pass the rowkey of the current row (${uix.current.rowKeyStr}) as a parameter. This way the server can find the corresponding row on the server in an event handler.

  • ADF UIX programatic data binding

    Oracle ADF UIX Developer's Guide mentions the possibility to use the UIX framework in Java, to create new objects or alter the existing ones.
    E.g. we can create a table using a construct like:
    TableLayoutBean tlb = new TableLayoutBean();
    The same document demonstrates the data binding:
    BoundValue rows = new DataBoundValue(_YOUR_NAMESPACE, YOURNAME, "rows");
    tlb.setIndexedNodeList(new DataObjectListNodeList(rows));
    For "simple" attributes using DataObject DataObjectList, etc. the procedure is clear. But what about creating a data bound table or input text:
    <table model="${bindings.EmpView1}" ... >
    <messageTextInput model="${bindings.DeptCode}"/>
    It’s easy to understand that model="${bindings.EmpView1}" or model="${bindings.DeptCode}" are equivalent to multiple attribute bindings (data, validation, read-only, etc.), but it looks that the classes/methods resolving these equivalences and linking the bean to the corresponding DCControlBinding, are not public (or maybe I was not able to find them).
    How can we obtain programmatically, in Java, the same structure as described above (in XML)? The best would be to use the same classes used when the UIX XML document is parsed to create the page description.
    It would be very nice to be able to use a structure like
    tbl.setModel( new JUCtrlRangeBinding(...) );
    txt.setModel( new JUCtrlValueBinding(...) );
    or maybe
    txt.setAttribute( "model", new TextInputModelBoundValue(...) ) etc.
    In JSF we can do something like:
    ValueBinding vb = application.createValueBinding(value);
    component.setValueBinding(attributeName, vb);
    Can we do something similar in UIX?
    Any help will be appreciated,
    thanks,
    Mircea Ionita

    Since the code is already written, it's a pity that we can't use/extend it. I don't like to say it (sorry) but I find this design choice (implement the "model" only into the XML parsing layer) a little bit strange (or maybe I don't understand... ;-) ). We should (or we are supposed to) be able to do in java everything that we can do in XML.
    I would like to find more support/help for the programmatic approach. I have the feeling that you are too focalised on "use-our-state-of-the-art-tools/wizards-to-write-the-code-for-you" and you forgot that this is not suitable for all projects. E.g. our application creates the user interface according to a layout defined by each user. To generate it, we need to use at maximum the extension mechanism and we can't simply relay on "rendered" attribute etc.
    -When should we expect this new UIX release?
    -What about the UIX controller? The Struts controller will replace it?
    -What about the source code of uixexp2-demo.jar (distributed with ADF_UIX_component_guide)?
    -Why while debugging we can't set a method/class breakpoint on UIX classes (to understand the data flow) - the stack is secret?
    Thanks

  • ADF UIX Role Based Access Control Implementation

    Hi,
    Can anybody suggest a detailed example or tutorials of how to implement a role based access control for my ADF UIX application.
    The application users can be dymanically added to specific roles (admin, Secretary, Guest). Based on the roles, they should be allowed to access only certain links or ADF entity/view operations. Can this be implemented in a centralized way.
    Can this be done using JAZN or JAAS. If so, Please provide me references to simple tutorial on how to do this.
    Thanks a lot.
    Sathya

    Brenden,
    I think you are following a valid approach. The default security in J2EE and JAAS (JAZN) is to configure roles and users in either static files (jazn-data.xml) or the Oracle Internet Directory and then use either jazn admin APIs or the OID APIs to programmatically access users, groups and Permissions (your role_functions are Permissions in a JAAS context).
    If you modelled your security infrastructure in OID than the database, an administrator would be able to use the Delegated Administration Service (DAS), as web based console in Oracle Application Server. To configure security this way, you would have two options:
    1. Use J2EE declarative security and configure all you .do access points in web.xml and constrain it by a role name (which is a user group name in OID). The benefit of this approach is that you can get Struts actions working dirctly with it because Struts actions have a roles attribute.
    The disadvantage is that you can't dynamically create new roles because they have to be mapped in web.xml
    2. Use JAAS and check Permissions on individual URLs. This allows you to perform finer grained and flexible access control, but also requires changes to Struts. Unlike the approach of subclassing the DataActionForward class, I would subclass the Struts RequestProcessor and change the processRoles method to evaluate JAAS permissions.
    The disadvantage of this approach is that it requires coding that should be done carefully not to lock you in to your own implementation of Struts so that you couldn't easily upgrade to newer versions.
    1 - 2 have the benefit of that the policies can be used by all applications in an enterprise that use Oracle Application Server and e.g. SSO.
    Your approach - as said - is valid and I think many customers will look for the database first when looking at implementing security (so would I).
    Two links that you might be interested in to read are:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/jguard/ --> an open source JAAS based security framework that stores the user, roles and permissions in database tables similar to your approach
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/papers/10g/adfstrutsj2eesec.pdf --> a whitepaper I've written about J2EE security for Web applications written with Struts and JavaServer pages. You may not be able to use all of it, but its a good source of information.

    Could you help me please ?

    Hi,
    Yes, I think Dispatch_input() has to be put in Do_request event.
    There is another alternative to using Get_form_fields method. In Do_Handle_Data event you can read the table form_fields and get the value of the input on the page.
    read table form_fields into <workarea> with key name = '<url inputfield name>'.
    get the value.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

    Ah, it's a proprietary Netscape extension to Java. It looks like trying to compile an Applet that uses the JSObject is a bit of a nightmare. You have to locate the jar file containing the netscape.javascript.JSObject class on your computer somewhere in your browser's folders.
    Also, my book says that if the web page author does not put "mayscript" in the applet tag, then the Java applet code won't be able to talk to javascript and cause it to change the page in the browser.
    Also, the user could have javascript disabled.

    Hi Anubha,
    This error is reported from the model layer and not from UIX layer. If you would like to see more repsonse on this, it would be better if you can change the subject and post a new message with subject like - "Exception encountered from ADFm layer with deployed application." You may get more reponse.

  • [ADF-UIX] passing selected items to a custom method, how?

    Hi,
    ADF-UIX can be tricky, and im stuck atm building some functionality, I hope
    someone here can point me in a good direction
    I have a multipleSelection table filled with data from a ViewObject. I also
    have 2 MessageChoice components also filled with data from 2 ViewObjects.
    I made a custom method in my AppMod accepting 3 params and dragged that method
    on to a DataAction. And I have a submit button calling the DataAction.
    Now comes the tricky part, how can I pass the selected rows (radiobuttons) and
    the selected items from my MessageChoices to my custom method.
    I know I have to change something in paramNames[0].value but what exactly, specialy
    the multiselect from my table.
    Thanks in advance for any tips :)

    "what's the application module"
    JDev 10.1.3 leverages an Application Development Framework (ADF) that you can learn about here: http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/pdf/B25947_01.pdf
    Specifically, you'll want to look at chapters 2, 4, & 8 in the developer's guide to understand the framework and to understand how to use application modules to call service methods from a JSF page. You can also search this forum as there are other threads discussing this topic, but I'd recommend reviewing the developer guide first.
    This article I also found helpful:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/mostcommon/index.html
    From my (short) experience, I've learned that you can call methods either using a bean or service methods on the Application Module. Since I am using ADF Business Components (BC), I try to implement any methods that interact with the BC's (view objects, etc.) as service methods on the Application Module (AM). If my method needs to purely implement logic related to the UI or Navigation, then I implement a method on a bean. The other case where I implement a method on a bean is if I need to do some pre-processing (i.e., gather info. about the state of the UI) prior to calling a service method on the AM (an example of this can be found in the dev guide related to the tableSelectMany component) - so there are some cases where the bean method will call a method on the AM - but again, if the method will update the model I try to use a method on the AM to accomplish this. Understanding the ADF framework is the first step (see the dev guide), and then I'd recommend looking at the SRDemo and previous posts on this forum.
    Finally, one thing that is really cool - if you define a service method on your AM, it shows up in the data control pallette - you can drag and drop the method on the .jspx page and all of the bindings/wiring is done automatically for you (including handling passing of parameters.)
    hope this helps.

  • ADF UIX Tab Switching and 404 Error

    I have an ADF UIX page that has a couple of tabs. When switching from one to the other, some of the links to data pages give me 404 error whereas they work if I run each page seperately. How do you maintain state when switching on tabbed pages?

    We need more detailed information to help with your scenario.
    Is there any difference between the URL seen in the browser address location when you run individual tab pages versus clicking on the links?
    Kind Regards.

    <invokeAction Binds="ExecuteWithParams" id="callExecuteWithParams"
    Refresh="ifNeeded"/>
    so the executables in my pageDef look like this:
    <executables>
    <iterator id="MyViewGIterator" RangeSize="10"
    Binds="MyViewG" DataControl="AppModuleDataControl"/>
    <variableIterator id="variables">
    <variable Name="parameterURL" Type="String"
    DefaultValue="${param.IdParm}"/>
    </variableIterator>
    <invokeAction Binds="ExecuteWithParams" id="callExecuteWithParams"
    Refresh="ifNeeded"/>
    </executables>
    I have a variableIterator that is binded on outputText control on my jspx just to test if parameter gets read correctly and it does.
    What am I doing wrong that query doesn't execute correctly and I don't have any data on my page? I've also tried with refresh condition "Always" but it doesn't help.
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
    do the following:
    - In the pageDef file (Executable section), create a "Parameter". The name of this parameter is up to you.
    - the value of this parameter point to #{param.IdParm}
    - In the ExecuteWithParam OperationBinding, select the agument item and select the NDVaue. Open the ExpressionLanguage editor and select the Parameter you just created
    Here's a working pageDef file example:
    <pageDefinition xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/uimodel"
                    version="10.1.3.41.57" id="RequestParamTestPageDef"
                    Package="adf.testcases.view.pageDefs">
      <parameters>
        <parameter id="param1" value="#{param.param1}"/>
      </parameters>
      <executables>
        <iterator id="DepartmentsVOWithBindVar1Iterator" RangeSize="10"
                  Binds="DepartmentsVOWithBindVar1"
                  DataControl="AppModuleDataControl"/>
        <invokeAction id="executeDepartments" Binds="ExecuteWithParams"/>
      </executables>
      <bindings>
        <table id="DepartmentsVOWithBindVar1"
               IterBinding="DepartmentsVOWithBindVar1Iterator">
          <AttrNames>
            <Item Value="DepartmentId"/>
            <Item Value="DepartmentName"/>
            <Item Value="ManagerId"/>
            <Item Value="LocationId"/>
          </AttrNames>
        </table>
        <action IterBinding="DepartmentsVOWithBindVar1Iterator"
                id="ExecuteWithParams"
                InstanceName="AppModuleDataControl.DepartmentsVOWithBindVar1"
                DataControl="AppModuleDataControl" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
                Action="95">
          <NamedData NDName="deptId" NDValue="${bindings.param1}"
                     NDType="oracle.jbo.domain.Number"/>
        </action>
      </bindings>
