Admin lock out of guest loggin

I am the admin and i have locked myself out of my guest profile. How do i reset the password to have access again. I tried by changing it in the admin profile and i had no luck. Help thanks

Hi Ray,
Which version of the portal are you running? You should be able to remove the Edit Own Profile activity right from the Everyone group. If you are getting errors saying that it is locked, try going to the "Release Item Locks" utility and see if you can unlock the group from there. Then remove the activity right from the group.
Once you have that done, I would recommend creating a new group that is equivalent to the Everyone group, minus the custom guest user. Then re-add the activity right to this new group, so that everyone else can still edit their own profiles. What this will do is remove the Edit User Profile link from the My Account page for the custom guest user.
However, as you mentioned, a malicious user could figure out the URL and go to the editor directly. This is a bug and will be fixed in the next release. If you need to prevent users from such access to the editor, it will require you to customize the UserProfileEditorModel to check for the activity right when the editor first starts.
Another option is to remove Read rights for the custom guest user from each Property's ACL. The guest user will still be able to get to the editor, but because he doesn't have Read rights, he won't be able to edit anything. The only other thing is that he won't be able to View User Profile. But I'm guessing that since it's a guest user, there won't be much useful profile information anyways, right?
Let me know how these options work for you, and I can help you with whichever solution you choose.

  • Domain Admin locked out of local logon

    I have a customer we just took over for. They have an existing issue where the domain administrator cannot log in locally to the DC. I've looked through all their GPOs and cannot find any instance of the domain admin groups being specially being denied this
    right. In fact, it says right in the DC GPO that domain admins have the rights for local log in yet I can't seem to log in. Remote desktop works fine and that is how I've been accessing their DC but I cannot find an answer to this problem. Any ideas?

  • Locked out of Guest mode on iphone 5 help?

    so I have guest mode enabled on my iPhone and I accidently triple clicked and I don't remember the passcode Ugh.
    I Don't want to restore my phone and I tried going on itunes to try to restart it and nothing? Please help

    There is no "Guest Mode" on an iPhone. Perhaps you mean Guided Access? If you don't remember the passcode, you may have to restore your phone. However, try resetting it first by pressing and holding the Home and power buttons until the apple appears.

  • Quick answer needed - user/admin locked out.

    A friend on a trip is all of a sudden asked to log in to her G4 laptop running Tiger. As far as she is aware no changes to settings have been made.
    She does not have the install disks with her.
    How can she get this sorted?
    She is in a place where mac's aren't standard and there is no apple center near by.

  • Domain admin accounts locks out constantly

    Hello.
    My boss has a domain admin account that keeps locking out, and we can't figure out why. We can tell from the domain controller logs that krbtgt is the *offending* service, and it is coming from a sql server that we have. In looking over the server, we can't
    find where any passwords might be stored that would be trying to pass this automatically. We've even manually removed any profile information for this account that we could find. If I reset the account, I can then log into the server with his account and everything
    is fine, but after logging out the account locks again.
    Does anybody have any ideas for how to fix this?
    If it helps, the EventID is 4771 and the Status that gets returned is 0x12

    I have something that can help you enabling netlogon logging on all DCs.
    1. Make a list of DCs and save it in a text file called dcs.txt (you can do that by running netdom query DC).
    2. Download psexec.exe from sysinternals
    3. Then run the following to enable logging:
    for /f %i in (dcs.txt) do psexec \\%i c:\windows\system32\nltest.exe /dbflag:0x2080ffff
    4. Take the log files all in your place:
    for /f %i in (dcs.txt) do copy /y \\%i\admin$\debug\netlogon.log .\%i.netlogon.log
    5. then search for wrong passwords:
    type *.netlogon.log |findstr /i 0xC000006A > badpasswords.txt
    6. Disable netlogon logging:
    for /f %i in (dcs.txt) do psexec \\%i c:\windows\system32\nltest.exe /dbflag:0x0

  • I am trying to reinstall an admin password and got completely locked out. I can't get past the first log in

    I am trying to reset my admin password.  I think my computer was tampered with. I signed out completely and now, I am locked out.  I can't get past a black screen. I'm unsure of my operating system but I've had laptop about 2 years.

    If you boot from your install DVD and, after choosing language, go up to the Apple bar and select utilities, you can restore you admin and firmware psswds. You will these options there. Do not choose a firmware psswd if you do not need this, you may complicate your life, especially if you forget it.
    I do not understand how you changed the psswd and why you cannot log in, though. Did you forget the new psswd or why? What do you mean by ‘was tampered with’?

  • OER 10gr3- Admin Account Locked out

    I have locked out the only admin account for OER 10gr3. I obviously can't login to the tool to unlock the account so I am a little stuck. I thought I could try and unlock the account via the DataBase but my attempts have failed. I located the account status which was 20 and changed it to 0 which from the documentation should be active but that didn't work. I guess I could blow away the DB but this seems a little extreme. If anyone has a proceedure to fix/recover from this situation please help.

    To unlock user Accounts:
    1. Stop OER
    2. update ENTSECUSERS set ACTIVESTATUS=0 where USERNAME='xxxxxxxx';
    3. Need to get the entsecuserid value from entsecusers table and column ID,
    4. update CMEEUSERS set ACTIVESTATUS=0 where ENTSECUSERID='id value';
    5. Restart OER

  • Admin Account Locked Out Indefnitely

    I want to know steps to retrieve my administrator account(only one) of a domain containing single domain controller has been locked out by a group policy that has been set. The lockout duration has been set to 0(indefnitely, until manually unlocked by the
    administrator).

    Hi,
    Based on my experiences, during the process of promoting a server to Domain Controller, we need to configure a
    Directory Services Restore Mode (DSRM) Administrator Account Password, providing this password allows us to restore Active Directory.
    If the scenario in your post occurs, we can use DSRM password to restore AD to a point where the admin’s account is not locked out.
    Therefore, please make sure that administrators perform regular
    backup so we can restore Active Directory after a sudden crash, and remember the DSRM password.

  • How an Admin user log into a lock out standard user account?

    I remember that I was able to override the access to the standard account user when the standard user has the screen lock out. This appear to be missing in Lion. Has anyone knows how to do this in Lion? Thanks.

    From my personal experience I can say that at times, four folders (i guess Assets is one of them) somehow get left in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 11 Organizer folder.
    I delete them and restart my system.. and reinstallation works fine. If that's the case with you, you can try it.
    CS Cleaner tool might also help.

  • Referenced Account is currently locked out

    Was setting up a new account on my laptop for my wife (luckily I did this. You'll see why in a minute.) and after I finished I took a shower. Came back to the box, typed in my credentials and I got the message "The referenced account is currently locked
    out and may not be logged on to". For the life of me I cannot figure out how this happened. I am able to log onto my wife's new account just fine but from her account I cannot figure out what is causing the issue. The native admin account is disabled
    along with the guest account. And no, I did not change the name of the native admin account, use it, and then disable it. My account is the first account created on the box with admin rights.
    Facts:
    -Any and all attempts to view Group Policies is met with an access is denied message as a standard user (didn't know I had that much security enabled, maybe it's by default?)
    -Any type of account management cannot be done as a standard user.
    -I poured over hundreds of logs but could not find anything out of the ordinary. I cannot access security logs as a standard user.
    -Default account lockout time is 30mins after 5 attempts, I've waited over 3 hours (I know this from memory)
    -I did not enter incorrect password attempts prior to the lockout. The very first attempt was met with the lockout message
    -My account password does not expire and neither does my wife's
    -I am using Win7 Ult-64 on an i7-3630QM 2.4, 8GB ram
    -A fresh install is not an option and neither is an NT password reset. I have encrypted files I cannot lose access to.
    -I am at my wits end.
    Mods, I apologize if this post is in the wrong spot.
    I need some assistance, I've boxed myself in and can't think my way out. Suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

    Frustrated User
    Edit: I am able to access the Computer Management window under Admin tools in the CP. Local Users and Groups > Users, I can see all of the users and view their properties. As I mentioned before, Admin and Guest accounts are disabled. The properties on
    my account are:
    User cannot change password: NOT checked
    Password never expires: Checked
    Account is disabled: NOT checked
    Account is locked out: Checked
    Obviously any attempt to change as standard user is denied.

    Hi Kent,
    It's not urgent right now
    I can create new accounts and assign them but what i need to do after creating new account? For example, i will create an account which name is sccmadministrator2;
    Now i have 2 accounts in Primary Site 1
    sccmadministrator: soft. dist. account
    sccmadministrator2: client push installation
    Do i need to same thing in Primary Site 2???
    Is it OK?
    I don't think so, i already 1 account in Primary Site 1 and there is no problem but after activating primary 2 it was getting error "the referenced account is......."
    then i created an account assign it for soft dist. and client push in Primary Site 2...
    Now; Per site 1 network Access account but the same error..........

  • Locked out of additional internal drives... Help please

    Any help would be more then welcomed as I did something stupid and need a bit of help to fix it please.
    Had an issue today on my Mac Pro (2.8, Quad 5.1). All was running fine until I went to update a piece of 3rd party software (Fetch). After the download I went to drag new version into my apps folder and was told I didn't have permission to instal the app.
    Now to be clear, I've had a bit of an issue with this before as I'm running 2 mac pros in different locations and drag and copy files and folders from here to there on a regular basis via FTP and external drives. I also have all 4 slots filled on both systems with various drives set up for a particular function along with a number of externals. I've set permissions on both systems and all drives to "read and write" for both my accounts to have full access and each time "apply to enclosed items" was selected.
    But for some reason, from time to time, I have to authorise the file transfer. Haven't figured out the reason but it's not a huge deal so have left it.
    Today was the first time I have had access denied for my home folder when working from same system. Not thinking and while on the phone to someone (this is where I did the stupid part), I opened the info on my boot (startup) drive and decided to add both of my user accounts and change permissions for each in addition to the system, admin and everyone that was already there. This was done while working from it directly and then set options to "apply to enclosed items". Yea, smart I know.
    About 20 minutes passed and then it told me that it didn't like any of my system extensions. I was forced to do a restart and got the spinning wheel for about 30 minutes. Had to do a force quit and open in single user. Applejack wouldn't help at all, nothing. Had to then open cd drive through terminal just to get systems disk inside.
    Restarted from systems disk and tried a simple disk utility repair. System restarted fine but I noticed that I was then locked out of all of my additional internal drives, iDisk included (padlock shown on all drive icons excluding my Boot/Startup drive). Tried opening info on the various drives with apple i option and "permissions denied" popped up each time.
    I then took the step to restore from time machine. Set my restore selection to about 2 hours before I became an idiot. After it was finished I restarted the system hoping that would clear up my mistake but same thing, still locked out of all of my drives aside from boot/startup drive.
    All user accounts that I have added to the boot drive are still showing, I have yet to try and remove them... Figured I would ask for help before I messed it up any further. Spoke to apple care and they have advised me to do what I have done so far.
    Aside from an erase and instal, what steps should I take from this point? Will removing the added accounts clear up the issue?
    Also, any idea as to why I was refused permissions to begin with...?
    Thanks in advance and sorry for the book, just wanted to be as clear as possible.

    Force iPad into Recovery Mode. Follow step 1 to step 3 very closely.

  • I am locked out of my internal hard drives.

    Sorry if I am breaking protocol. This question is for V.K. Ihad been locked out of my internal drives with the exception of my start updrive. All the drives icons had a small lock on them. You had posted how tounlock them.
    run the following commands in terminal
    sudo chflags 0 /Volumes/*
    sudo chmod a+x /Volumes/*
    you'll have to enter your admin password (which you won't see)after the first command. that's normal. this should unlock the drives.
    I tried it and now I am locked out of all my drives. I nolonger have drive icons, I have folder icons with a red dot with a slashthrough it in the bottom right.
    Very scared and very desperate. Please help

    Thank you V.K. and ignore the question. When I posted my question, similar asked questions popped up. You had already answered it and it worked. That was the end of a very long and frustrating weekend. Thank you.

  • How to change your Administration Server password when you're locked out

    How to change your Administration Server password when you're locked out
    The Netscape server products are all managed by a single administration
    server, which gives you a web forms-based interface you can use to
    configure them, start/stop them, check their logs, and so forth.
    <P>
    There are three levels of protection that keep the general public from
    being able to get into your administration server and mess up the
    configuration of any Netscape servers you have installed:
    <P>
    <OL>
    <LI> <B>Obscurity:</B> Your administration server can run on any port you'd
    like (usually something between 81 and 30,000), so if an attacker
    doesn't know what port to find your admin server on, he can't get
    into it.<P>
    <LI> <B>Host restrictions:</B> You can tell your admin server to only allow
    connections from specific hosts, and to reject all other hosts.
    <P>
    <LI> <B>Password protection:</B> Even if a user connects to your admin server
    from a valid host, he won't be allowed to get into even the first
    page unless he presents a valid username and password.
    </OL>
    <P>
    If you, the legitimate administrator of your web server, are unable to
    access the administration server (if you forgot your password or the
    admin port number or if you accidentally locked your own site out),
    then here is how to get past each of these levels of protection:
    <P>
    <OL>
    <LI> If you don't remember what port your administration server is
    running on, just look in your "ns-admin.conf" file, which is in
    the "admserv" directory under your Netscape server directory.
    (For 1.x web servers on Windows NT, run "regedt32" and go to the
    "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Netscape\Administration" section).
    You will see a "Port" entry there that specifies what port your
    admin server is on. You can change this value if you want your
    admin server to run on a different port, but make sure you restart
    the admin server after you change the value.
    <P>
    <LI> If your admin server is complaining "Unauthorized host" when you
    try to connect to it, then you can open it up to all sites by
    going into the "ns-admin.conf" file or the "Administration"
    section of your NT registry, as described above, and deleting the
    lines for "Hosts" and "Addresses" (either one of those might not
    be present) then restarting your admin server (on Unix run
    "stop-admin" then "start-admin"; on NT go into the Services
    control panel and stop/start the "Netscape Administration" or
    "Netscape Admin Server" service). You will then be able to get
    back into the admin server, where you can then try new settings
    for your host and address restrictions if you wish.
    <P>
    <LI> If you have forgotten the password to your admin server and now
    you can't log into your admin pages, all is not lost! Go into
    your "ns-home" directory, and into the "admserv" directory under
    that. You should find an "admpw" text file containing a simgle
    line of text, something like this:
    admin:lnOVeixulqkmU
    The first part of that line is the name of your admin account
    (usually just "admin"), and the second part is your admin
    password, encrypted. Edit this file to remove the encrypted
    password so that your file looks like this:
    admin:
    Then shut down your admin server, bring it back up again, and log
    into your admin server but don't give any password. It should let
    you in, at which point you can then go to the appropriate
    configuration page to set a new admin password, and then you're
    back in business.
    </OL><P>
    Note that because it is so easy to change the admin password this
    way, it's good to periodically make certain that your admin
    password file and your web server's configuration files are not
    left world-writable, and that only trusted people have access to
    them. (By default they're not world-writable, but it's good to
    make sure of this from time to time.)

    If you mean that yu forgo the password for yur encrypted backup then you can only:
    Warning: If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password, you can continue to back up and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync.
    If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore, choose set up as a new device.
