All,
Do you see the following error during admin server startup? What may be the cause?
The password or id typo will not cause the follow errors.
Thanks.

Weblogic 11g on Windows - very slow admin server start
Hello,
It takes upwards of 15 minutes to fully start the admin server on my Windows box. I have read that it's a bug in the Java security random number/crypto api.
There are various work arounds for the Linux environments, but no mention of Windows. I realize that I'm in a small minority of admins running WLS on Windows, but does anybody have experience in setting the Java security stuff so the servers do not take soooooo darn long to startup?
JDMHi ,
I think it would be better to post this question in the Weblogic - General forum for WLS specific troubleshooting tip : WebLogic Server - General
Having said that get the thread dump for WLS server start up using kill -3 <pid> command or using jstack -l <pid> .
Post the question and the thread dumps to the above mentioned forum .
In my case the start up time is less than a minute .
Thanks
Srinath -
Admin Server start failure-Error running init function load-modules
Hi,
run start-admin, I get:
SunONE-WebServer-Enterprise/6.0SP3 B05/14/2003 18:31
failure: server exit: status 1 (Interrupted system call)
in log file, it said:

[07/Nov/2005:12:34:12] info (215932): SunONE-WebServer-Enterprise/6.0SP3 B05/14/2003 18:31

Examine .loader section symbols with the 'dump -Tv' command.)
What's the problem?
Thanks in advance.Never mind... the problem surfaced after renaming the web server without reinstalling the Siebel plugin. Problem was resolved by uninstalling/reinstalling the plugin.

DS 5.2 unable to start admin server after OS upgrade
Hi,
We upgraded our server from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10 this past weekend. After putting back all the libraries we were able to start the admin server (start-admin). I'm getting and error:
./start-admin
SunONE-WebServer-Enterprise/6.0SP3 B05/19/2004 02:48
failure: server exit: status 1 (Interrupted system call)
Is the problem here that the webserver software is somehow unavailable? I'm actually using Webserver 7.0 so this must be something packaged with DS 5.2?
Thank you.
MikeI was able to get the admin server started. I did not have all the directories in place I thought I needed. There were a lot of links that needed to be resolved.

Starting cluster fails, managed servers can't seem to connect to admin serv
I have been trying to run the WebLogic JPA example from,
http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Examples/JPA/CacheCoordination
but not having much luck on three different Linux machines,
The first issue I found was if you did not set the memory options just right, the JVM would just hang,
I am now using,
<jvmarg value="-XX:PermSize=512m"/>
<jvmarg value="-XX:MaxPermSize=960m"/>
with JDK 1.7_17, not sure if there are better options...
The 3 servers are started using (each with different port, all server run on the same machine, as with the admin server),
<java classname="weblogic.Server"
fork="true"
failonerror="true">
<jvmarg value="-server"/>
<!--jvmarg value="-Xms512m"/>
<jvmarg value="-Xmx960m"/-->
<jvmarg value="-XX:PermSize=512m"/>
<jvmarg value="-XX:MaxPermSize=960m"/>
<env key="PATH" value="${env.JAVA_HOME}/bin:${env.PATH}"/>
<sysproperty key="java.security.egd" value="file:///dev/./urandom"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.Name" value="server1"/>
<sysproperty key="bea.home" value="${JEE_HOME}"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.management.server" value="${JEE_HOST}:7001"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.management.username" value="${JEE_USER}"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.management.password" value="${JEE_PASSWORD}"/>
<sysproperty key="java.security.police" value='"${JEE_SERVER}/lib/weblogic.policy"'/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.RootDirectory" value="${JEE_DOMAIN}"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.Stdout" value="server1.log"/>
<sysproperty key="weblogic.Stderr" value="server1.err"/>
<classpath>
<fileset dir="${JEE_SERVER}/lib" includes="weblogic.jar,weblogic_sp.jar"/>
<pathelement location="${env.JAVA_HOME}/lib/tools.jar"/>
</classpath>
</java>
I found that the start-up would sometimes fail on some of the machines unless I used,
<sysproperty key="java.security.egd" value="file:///dev/./urandom"/>
But on once machine this does not help either,
I also tried using unicast, but still does not start,
the admin server starts, then the managed servers start and seem to try to connect to the admin server and just never do, never get past STARTING (to STARTED in the log).
Another have any other ideas?How are you starting the managed servers. try running the command
from /MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/bin
nohup sh ./startManagedWebLogic.sh bi_server1 http://localhost:7001> start_bi_server1.log &
and see how it goes. make sure you have set the boot.properties files under security folder so that it wont get failed looking for username and password.
hope it helps -
Admin Server console not showing Managed Server is running
I am using WLS 7.0.1.0 SP1 runing on Windows 2000. I have setup a node manager, Admin server and Managed Server as Windows Services. Admin Server has -delaySeconds as 2min. Manager Server(MS) has been made to depend on Admin Server start. When I boot my machine, all the three services come up properly. I can access my application which is running on MS properly. But for some reason the Admin Console doesn't show the MS as running. If I use the Admin Console now to start up MS all it does it "Reconnects to the admin server" since the MS is in started state. What is the reason for this
It could be the ordering dependency and the rediscovery of the MS by the AS.
An AS has a notion of where MS's live on disk and it could be an issue with
AS bouncing in between MS's constant state of upness.
Cheers

About cluster and admin server
I try to implement cluster like this
admin server

| mycluster |
server1 server2
(web) (web)
admin server start as Administrator server
server1 and server2 start as managed server. and all in mycluster. web has
depoloyed to server1 and server2, but not deployed to admin server
when I start admin server. it always say "web dot found". Why?

That's not true. Starting a cluster has nothing to do with admin server.
Infact we always recommend to exclude admin server from cluster view.

If web is not targetted to admin server, how are you able to access this webapp
from admin server.

WLS ships proxy plugins for ISAPI,NSAPI, apache & HttpClusterServlet
you may want to read our docs. http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61

1) OAM 11g installed, admin and managed server started fine.
Port for OAM managed server is 14100 and port for Admin server is 7003
Question: OAM console is accesible via hostname:7003/oamconsole
What about port 14100? When is this port used, and why oamconsole not accesible via hostname:14100/oamconsole
2) Following is message when Admin Server which hosts OAM is starting up
<Failed to communicate with any of configured Access Server, ensure that it is up and running.>
Admin server is supposed to start first and then managed server (OAM here).
Why is it looking to communicate with a managed server when admin server is starting up?968091 wrote:

/oamconsole is an administrative service and only available on the admin server.
The managed service on 14100 is used for authentication and authorization services, ie for logging in and out.

Admin server is supposed to start first and then managed server (OAM here).
Why is it looking to communicate with a managed server when admin server is starting up?The managed service is used for authentication, even for /oamconsole service, so when the admin server starts up, it checks whether the login service is available which at this point it won't be, hence you get that error message. Once the managed server is started, that error should stop. -
Tcp_smallest_anon_port and admin server
DS 5.1sp1+solaris 8
if:
ldap on port 389
admin-serv on port 9345
tcp_smallest_anon_port=8192
there is no problem.
When I change it to:
ldap on port 389
admin-serv on port 9345
tcp_smallest_anon_port=16384
Prolems occurs...., at first I saw directory was up, admin-server starting process was stuck there and after a while, admin-server is up and directory server is down. Here is the log file ( The whole thing happens when the system reboot and I have some script to start DS and admin-server)
[12/Sep/2002:15:33:15 -0400] - iPlanet-Directory/5.1 B2001.326.2041 starting up
[12/Sep/2002:15:33:17 -0400] - Detected Disorderly Shutdown last time Directory Server was running, recovering d
atabase.
[12/Sep/2002:15:33:24 -0400] - slapd started. Listening on all interfaces port 389 for LDAP requests
[12/Sep/2002:15:33:33 -0400] - cos_cache_getref: no cos cache created
[12/Sep/2002:16:35:55 -0400] - Unable to start slapd because it is already running as process 259
[12/Sep/2002:16:35:55 -0400] - Shutting down due to possible conflicts with other slapd processes
Interesting thing is that if I change admin server to 19345 and keep tcp_smaillest_anon_port to 16384, everything goes back normal, not startup problem at all.
I am confused...

513-52996099It all depends on the protocols being used
548 is Apple File Sharing protocol (afp://server.name)
5900 is Screen Sharing (vnc://server.name)
These ports need to be opened at the destination router, not the local router. You should also be away that this may not be secure.
TimeMachine will want the distant server to be a Mac OS X system with an HFS+ file system.
You could also consider something like Hamachi (VPN)
<http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/36286/logmein-hamachi>
For a small number of computers and for personal use, it is free to use.
There are other secure remote connection approaches, such as setting up a VPN server on the remote server, or using ssh tunnels to the remote server. -

<Oct 13, 2010 10:53:55 AM IST> <Notice> <WebLogicServer> <BEA-000365> <Server st
ate changed to FORCE_SHUTTING_DOWN>Oracle WebLogic Server 11g uses a built in production quality (limited in capacity) LDAP server to store user authorization information such as roles, credentials etc. You can also use an external RDBMS instead of the built in LDAP server. Using the RDBMS security store is highly recommended by Oracle in some situations, especially in a cluster environment (for using SAML 2.0 services).
If you choose to use the RDBMS Security Store, you can configure the security store either through the Configuration Wizard or through WLST at the command line.
The problem arises because the underlying database has not been configured (or not configured correctly). If you're going to use the RDMBS security store (instead of the default LDAP server), please do the following:
1. First, make sure you test the database connection on the Configuration Wizard page (Look at the right hand top corner for the button that tests the connection).
2. Create necessary RDBMS tables in the Security Datastore. I understand others in this thread have suggested this option. However, I want to emphasize that you must log in as the same user you've used as the user name to test your RDBMS connection (I used system as the user name) in Step 1 and run the following script:
$ @WL_HOME\server\lib\rdbms_security_store_oracle.sql (I'm using Oracle as an example - there are similar scripts for DB2, MS SQL Server).
The script will create about 30 or so tables. You can log out of the DB at this point.
3. Start up the Admin Server. It should start correctly now.
Hope this helps!
Thanks! Sam

Unable to start Admin Server as a windows service
I installed Admin Server as a windows service and when I started it, I got the below errors. Do you have any ideas?
I'm using SOA Suite 11.1.1.2.0 and WL 10.3.2 on Windows
Thanks,

If you see your logs, you server has actually started in "RUNNING" mode. Its only throwing lot of "ClassNotFoundException" because I guess they classes are not available in classpaths. If you know the "jar" which contains which are being complained, copy the jar files to "DOMAIN_HOME/lib" which is simple way to add jars to classpath.
