Adobe Captivate 6 - right click enable

When right-clicked, shows the following error:
Error: Error #1502: A script has executed for longer than the default timeout period of 15 seconds.
    at com.adobe.captivate.main::rdButton$/doRightClick()
    at Function/http://adobe.com/AS3/2006/builtin::apply()
    at flash.external::ExternalInterface$/_callIn()
    at Function/<anonymous>()

generally that's caused by a loop (for, do or while) that does not terminate within 15 seconds.  in flash there's a setting that allows longer execution.
i'm not a captivate expert.  so, if you need to find that setting in captivate, post in a captivate forum:  http://forums.adobe.com/community/adobe_captivate
however, that message almost always indicates a code error.  the only exceptions are loops that you know are iterating many thousands of times and you expect that timeout problem.

  • Captivate 2 right-click and drag and drop in simulation

Captivate has been suggested as a suitable replacement for
Authorware since the announcement that Adobe doesn't plan to
continue with Authorware. I find myself in the position to put this
to the test. I'm in the process of recreating a course that had
been created in Authorware in a toolset comprised of Artuculate
Presenter, Articulate Quizmaker, Articulate Engage, Captivate, and
    PowerPoint.
The simulation created in Authorware has these feautures:
-learner right clicks on items on screen to see a context
menu then selects option from the context menu
-learner drags toolbar and other items on screen to another
    screen location
-learner selects item from Windows Start>>Program and
other application menus. As the learner's mouse moves over the
menu, menu options highlight and flyout menus appear even if
they're not directly involved in the simulation
-learner logs into course with an employee ID number. This
information is stored and is used in the simulation in which they
log into the system being simulated.
Can I do any of these things in Captivate?
I suspect I can simulate the flyout menus with a number of
mouse over hotspots - exactly the way it's done in Authorware.
However, I haven't found any way to do simulate the other items:
-use of drag and drop where the learner performs the action
-use of a variable value to check validity of what has been
    entered in the text field
-use of right click to advance Captivate simulation.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me. After all, I've
heard many people claim that Captivate can replace Authorware.
    Thanks
    Grace Daminato

    Hi Grace,
Captivate is indeed a replacement for Authorware, but only in
the way that an Audi is a replacement for a Ferrari. They do the
same basic job, but you need to do some after market modifications
to the Audi to level the playing field somewhat.
    1) Flyout menus are indeed possible, if you're willing to
create "rollovers" that display a picture of the expanded menu when
the user mouses over. You are limited to exposing only first-level
menus, however. Captivate does not allow for rollovers on
rollovers, except possibly via Captivate 3's Slidelet
    functionality.
***EDIT***: You can also use Paul Dewhurst's rollover widgets
to fake multi-level menu behavior. They are available from Paul's
    site here:
    http://www.raisingaimee.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=24&Itemid=29
    2) Drag-and-drop in Captivate is currently only available as
an add-in Flash object, each of which must unfortunately be built
by hand in Flash. Adobe Community Expert Paul Dewhurst offers
source files for such interactions on his website:
    http://www.raisingaimee.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=13&Itemid=29
    3) Captivate has built-in checking of field values, but you
are limited to hardcoded values only. If you need variable-based
input checking, you must create it yourself in Flash and insert it
    as an animation.
    4) Right-click is possible in Captivate, but must be added
manually. Captivate community contributor William Heinz has created
a nifty right-click solution for HTML/SWF publication and Paul
Dewhurst again comes to the rescue with a solution for .EXE-based
    output:
    HTML/SWF-based Output:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/captivate/articles/rightclick.html
    EXE-based Output:
    http://www.raisingaimee.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=29
Unfortunately, making these modifications to Captivate files
comes at a cost. First, there's the overhead of tracking down and
implementing the custom enhancements. More importantly, Captivate
has no way of "scoring" custom enhancements, so any such
interactions will not be reflected in the user's reported results.
If you're willing to live with these limitations, and a few
others, Captivate can indeed be a suitable replacement for
    Authorware.

  • Captivate 4, Right Click and Flash 7

    Hello,
I am using Captivate 4 and I need to include right click boxes. I also have to publish to Flash 7 but, this functionality doesn't work below Flash 8. Is there anything I can do to workaround this?
    Thanks,
    Mary

    Hi Vish,
Thanks for your response. The problem is I need to use Captivate 4 because I have to publish to Flash 7. I am limited because of the technology on my learners computers. It looks like the right click option isn't compatible with Flash 7. Do you know if there is any type of workaround for this?
    Thanks for your help.

  • "Browse in Adobe Bridge" from Right Click Menu

    Adobe Suite CC2014
    Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1
In earlier versions of Adobe Bridge, if you right context a folder, "Browse in Adobe Bridge" was an item.
This no longer appears to be the case.
Is there a Preference setting to make this occur?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Right-Click Functionality - Heinz Article

    Greetings:
I'm finally faced with the right-click functionality issue in
    Captivate. I'm using Captivate 2.
I have done my due diligence and I understand why I get the
Flash Player settings when I right-click in a simulation
(interactive simulations only, a pure demonstration works fine).
And, I have located and read the William Heinz article titled
'Using Animations to Extend Adobe Captivate for Right-Click
Capability'. This article can be found in the Captivate support
section, along with another one (more complicated, it seems) by
    Steven Shongrunden.
Here's the URL to the Heinz article:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/captivate/articles/rightclick.html
Everything was going well with the Heinz technique until I
reached step 5 on page 2 of the article. This is where the
animation is inserted onto the slide. For sub-step d, sub-sub-step
iii, it says to "Select the Pause until User Clicks option" in the
Animation dialog box. However, I do not have a Pause until User
Clicks option in my Animation dialog box.
So, is that an option only available for the Animation dialog
box in Captivate 3? If so, then the opening paragraph of this
article is incorrect in stating that this technique works for
    Captivate 2.
Or, have I just misread something in this article?
Thanks in advance for any help with this!

    Hi Jim
If the article needs improvement, by all means you should
report it so it may be corrected. Perhaps use the Wish Form?
    Click
    here.
Or if you would like to post here where it is vague, I'll be
happy to feed it back through some other channels I have.

  • CS3 Bridge, no files on right click (yes, I set preferences)

I wrote this in previous thread, but it referred to CS5 so I'm pasting it in a new one.
    This is for CS3 Bridge.
Since I finally uninstalled previous CS version, now when I open up Bridge and right-click PSD image to say, open in AI, my options are only all browsers (?!) and Photoshop which is the program assoc. with PSD that I set in File Type Assoc in Bridge. Used to be able to view most Adobe programs when right-clicked before I uninstalled old CS.
It's annoying and I'm not sure how to restore/fix.
    Thanks!

Uninstalling an old version, will believe it or not, cause the file associations to revert to the uninstalled version.  Not an easy fix.
It appears you either need to start over or delve into the registry.  See this link.  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/423584?tstart=0

  • Right click to get to Show File in iphoto

I was at the Apple Store Sat and was shown that if I right click a photo a list will appear including the show file command. With this command I get to the actual photo.
I have just reinstalled ilife 09 and attempted to get the list when I right clicked. Nothing.
    Is my mouse bad?
How should I find out how to get the list to appear when I right click?

It was a good thought, but when I looked at the keyboard and mouse and the other topics, I did not see anything that would have to do with right click. I did learn a lot about the mouse, scrolling and setting the five buttons, but nothing to do with right clicks. Speed of the cursor. scrolling and double click. Where should the right click enabled reside. Thanks and thank you for your patience. I have had a Mac for years but have never needed to use some of these features. Herb

  • Why can't I right click

My mouse and trackpad on my Macbook pro will not right click.  I am running Snow Leapord, just recently updated.  I had this problem previously with Leapord before I updated, and it seems to have followed me.

That would depend on how you have right-click enabled/setup under your mouse and trackpad settings.  Check it and change it around if needed.  See what happens.

  • Why cant i use right click on the mouse

I am trying to play starwars empire wars for the mac, is says left click to high lite a unit, and right click to move them but the right click dosent work like the PC.
HELP any advice would be much appriciated
    thanks in advance

If you are using a mouse, try using Control-click to get the right click function.  If a Magic Mouse, go to System Preferences > Mouse and check the box for secondary click, that is the right click enabler.

  • Right Click Print.

I am a brand new Imac user. When I am in MS word/excel or any OpenOffice doc. I want to print by simply right clicking and hit print. Just like i used to do on my old dreaded Vista machine. Also When I have a list of 2 or more documents i want printed. I have to open each one and select print. Again, on the vista machine I could highlight all the documents, right click, and select print.
Does anyone know how I can get that feature to work, if at all.
Yes I do have right click enabled.

If you are in the MS Word or Excel document (or Open Office), it does not make sense to right-click on something in the document window to print. There must be a Print button on the toolbar, so you can regular click on that. Or you can type Command-P (in most applications) to print the current document.
If you want to print multiple document consecutively without opening the applications, open a Finder window. Select the multiple documents. There are many ways to select multiple documents. If you need help with doing so, please post back. Once the documents you want to print are selected, go to the menu bar under File and select Print. All the selected documents will print without the need to open each application.

  • How to enable right-click in Captivate 6

When right-clicked, shows the following error:
Error: Error #1502: A script has executed for longer than the default timeout period of 15 seconds.
        at com.adobe.captivate.main::rdButton$/doRightClick()
        at Function/http://adobe.com/AS3/2006/builtin::apply()
        at flash.external::ExternalInterface$/_callIn()
        at Function/<anonymous>()

Are you launching the SWF via the HTML file or just double-clicking on the SWF?
For right click to work you need the following:
    Turn OFF Accessibility in Preferences
Add a click box somewhere in the movie with Right Click set as the event to trigger some action.
Publish to HTML/SWF and make sure the JS file is also present in the output folder.
Set the publish folder location as a trusted location in Flash Global Security.
Test publish and your right click should now work.

  • Adobe Captivate 7 without admin rights

Adobe recommends that, in order to use Adobe Captivate 7, the user must run as administrator. They suggest right-clicking the application and selecting "Run as administrator". If Captivate is run without the administrator permissions, the program behaves erratically and many functions will not work. Our users do not have administrator rights, is there a workaround that we can do?

  • Right Clicking in Captivate 7

I'm using Captivate 7 and have some right click boxes in a simulation.  When I preview in web browser, they work fine.  When I publish with Enable Accessability turned Off, and preview in IE, they become inactive.  Am I missing something?

  • Right-click feature not working in Captivate 4.0

    Hello:
I am new to Captivate 4.0 and have a huge problem.  I create software simulation training modules and publish them as .swf files. I then save them to a shared network folder where our web team links to them on our company Intranet site.  The right-click feature is not working in any of the modules. I have changed my Preferences to remove the Enable Accessibility checkmark and publish to Flash Version 9.  I understand that this is probably a Flash security setting problem.  How do I make this work so that all 15,000 users at our company can view these modules and have the right-click feature work?  Any help is greatly appreciated as I am getting very frustrated as I upgraded to 4.0 specifically for the right-click feature! I know very little about Flash and hope there is someone who can help me in simple "layman's" terms.

    Hi there
Are you opening the Captivate by pointing only at the SWF? I ask because I believe the associated HTML file Captivate creates is involved. So if you are only opening via the SWF it would stand to reason the Right-click would fail.
If it's the Flash Security settings, you would be well advised to consider migrating the content from a network server to a Web Server. (company Intranet)

  • Right Click in Captivate 7

    Hi,
I've enabled a right-click function to continue a slide. This functionally works correctly on a mac, but on a pc it brings up the flash menu and the user can't continue unless they click the play bar at the bottom. I've tried the following from a previous post but it doesn't correct the issue:
For right click to work you need the following:
Turn OFF Accessibility in Preferences (done)
Add a click box somewhere in the movie with Right Click set as the event to trigger some action. (done)
Publish to HTML/SWF and make sure the JS file is also present in the output folder. (done - published to connect server)
Set the publish folder location as a trusted location in Flash Global Security. (done)
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    -dave
    UPDATE
Seems the right click works in the HTML5 version but not the SWF version.
    Message was edited by: DPCROW

    Hi There,
Please make sure that under Edit > Preferences > Project > Publish settings > Enable Accessibility option needs to be unchecked in order to make right click work.
Also you can try to set the publish folder location as a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings by going to Control Panel > Flash Player > Click on Advanced and scroll down > Trusted location settings > Add > Add Folder > Add C Drive > Confirm > Close. Then publish your project on your desktop and check the result.
