Adobe - Windows 8

Hi There
I have windows 8 and the recent Adobe reader (XI)
I have a few issues:
1.  When I open a PDF it goes directly to full screen (black background and full size document)
2. There is no toolbar to make notes or highlight document.  Not even a 'file' so I can look to resize the document.
3.  I am unable to open multi PDFs at one time. Largely becasue they take up the whole screen.
Any assistance wouls be great.  It is driving me mad!!
Thank you

The Windows 8/RT operating system can run two different types of applications: Windows Store apps and desktop apps
What you have is probably Adobe Reader Touch or Microsoft Reader (Windows Store app with "Modern" UI), not Adobe Reader XI (desktop app with classic UI).
Windows Store apps will open in the full screen mode by default.  For the initial version (8.0) of Windows 8/RT, it is not possible to open two separate windows for the same app.  This is the Microsoft design for all Windows Store apps.  But the "Modern" UI (a.k.a Metro) version of Internet Explorer provides tabs, for example, to work around the limitation.
Using the operating system and Windows Store apps would take some getting use to.  Because it is quite different from the previous versions of Windows (e.g. Windows 7, Windows XP).
I'd highly recommend that you visit the How-To section of the Microsoft Windows web site to become more familar with the operating system.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/how-to
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/apps-windows-store-tutorial
Here are some additional tips.
Most Windows Store apps have toolbars that are hidden by default.  To bring up toolbar(s),
Touch: Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen.
Mouse: Right-click.
Keyboard:  Press the Windows key + Z.
Windows RT
If your device (e.g. Surface RT) is running the Windows RT operating system (as opposed to the Windows 8/8.1 operating system), you are not able to install or run the traditional desktop apps (e.g. Adobe Reader XI) that you used to have on Windows 7, XP, or Vista.
The Windows RT operating system comes with Microsoft Office desktop apps (Excel, Word, etc.) pre-installed.  The Office apps are the only desktop apps that are compatible with Windows RT.  However, you can install Windows Store apps that are available in the Windows Store.
Windows 8 or 8.1
If your tablet/notebook/desktop PC is running the Windows 8/8.1 operating system, you can install and run traditional desktop apps as well as Windows Store apps.
Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Windows Fireworks CS5 opens to white screen

I had Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium installed and working fine for over a year. All of a sudden today when I click the icon to open Fireworks it opens to a blank screen "white".
I can see my icons for Windows 7 at the bottom but nothing but a white screen. It appears Dreamweaver is doing the same. I tried uninstalling FW and re-install and the problem
    continues. Help

I checked the above article and it wasn't relevant to the problem stated at the beginning of this article, first off that person was using an iPad (there is no blue icon on the right side of the browser window on a computer) and 2nd, what is needed is preventing small images opening in full screen mode instead of the image loading in screen the same size as the image. The above article shows how to get in and out of full screen mode but that doesn't address the issue in the original post because the image is still placed on a too large screen. When the image is only 3x2 inches you don't need the page opening as large as a full size screen on a 27" monitor. When that happens you have to click on the tiny, miniscule, hardly attainable 1 pixel spot at the lower right corner of the screen and resize the page manually so it doesn't take up the whole screen so you can see the other documents. when you are opening multiple images this is very annoying.
I have trouble believing that Adobe techs haven't found a solution to this issue since Sept 2011 when the first post on this issue was posted above.

  • 800*600 screen resolution not showing full adobe window

    Hi,
One of my customers is currently running Adobe Captivate 2
and due to difficulties with vision is using a screen on 800*600
resolution. When you open pretty much any of the menus/options the
screens that pop up fill the screen past the 800*600 limits so
buttons down the bottom are not showing unless you drag the window
up at which time the top of the window vanishes off the screen. I
have tried on my computer and it does the same thing.
Is this something that Adobe Captivate 2 fails to do, does
Adobe Captivate 3 fix this issue, or are there options to fix this
    with Captivate2?
    Cheers
    Andrew

Hi Andrew and welcome to our community
I just tested Captivate 2 by configuring my laptop to the
same resolution of 800x600. Captivate seemed to work fine that way
and I didn't observe anything being lost or cut off. So my question
here is to ask if the person is running Captivate in windowed mode
or full screen mode. If windowed, try double-clicking the title bar
    to switch to full screen.
    Cheers... Rick

  • When the Firefox homepage opens I get a window asking for the master password security device - - - also a fake Adobe window asks me to update: malware.

    Apparently, I'm not the first.
Other than "x-ing" the Pop-Ups can these be totally eliminated. I know that the Adobe Pop-ups are fake . . . and add malware. I just had to re-install my OS and get a new hard-drive. I want to keep my computer clean.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • I have Adobe Windows Photoshop Elements 7. Can I install somehow on my new Apple iMac?

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 (Windows). Can I use that somehow in the Mac platform? I t was rather expensive and I no longer have any paperwork. If it is unsble to be converted, is there a free or reasonable alternative? Thanks in advance.

Only by either installing Windows on your iMac as a separate partition through Bootcamp, or setting up a virtual Windows machine via the likes of VMWare Fusion, or Parallels Virtual or Desktop.
Factor in the cost of Windows and I think you'll find a new copoy of Mac Photoshop Elements would be cheaper.

  • Adobe window disappears after input

    Hi
I am using Adobe form, webservices with Javascript.
I am using simple javascript like xfa.host.messageBox and looping on response objects. I have 2 buttons on Adobe form with many input fields/dropdowns & Listboxes.
The form first displayed one input field and a Search button, after input isprovided and click on Button, it normally shows 2 xfa.host.messageBox
messages and then fetches the response from webserivce and displays the rest of the form.
The issue is that when click on the button and move open another IE/other application window, later when I want to see the result in form, the window doesnt appear.
When I open the Task Manager, the form is there, so I select the Form and click on "Switch to" to open the form and work further. My user will not want to have such a scenario.
Please advice as what can be done.
Thanks for your advice in advance.

I do not understand what you are describing ...can you describe it again and add images or screen shots of what you are seeing to help clarify?

  • Bad  Adobe Window

I'm on my new OS 10.3.9 iMAC and when I opened two applications from Adobe a window opens on top ofeither of those applications that says " Updating Adobe Online Components from Adobe.com" ( AMEXFiles.txt tro HD Library.) It also states that No Personal Information Transmitted, It just stays there and does nothing and was so for an hour. The little colored circle that generally opens my Mac goes on and on. I can do other stuff but not able to open the Application it sits over (either Photoshop or Illustrator) The blue indicator bar goes about halfway and does not move. It stops me cold. Can anyone please help me to stop this and get on with my work. I would be very appreciaitive. I'm not as sharp as I used to be!

You'd probably have much better luck asking this question at the Adobe Forums.

  • Prevent PDFs from Changing Adobe Window Size & Position

Some PDF files have embedded codes to change the size and / or position of the Adobe (or Reader) window. This is a very irritating "feature" and is completely unnecessary, at best. I have looked through the various Preferences setting but nothing seems to address the problem. How do I prevent this from happening?
    Thanks.

Thanks guys. Is there a way to prevent this action globally, i.e. for all documents, rather than just document-by-document after the fact? Any well-designed software would have a way to prevent documents from messing up my screen configuration, so I assume someone at Adobe had the wherewithall to have that as an option in Acrobat.

  • Report is not starting an adobe window when pressing the print button

When ever I press the print button on my report and I get the box that asks you which page to print.  I choose all and then press the ok button.  Nothing happens when I press the ok button.  I'm I missing something on the server that is running the application.  It works locally but not on my test server.
    Thank you

Well, in order to print using PDF, you must have adobe installed...
    I understand that you have some CR Service Pack installed, but I am not sure which one. I'd recommend you download SP 5 from here;
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100013876392008E/crxir2win_sp5.exe
    And use the msm to install the runtime. The SP 5 msm is here;
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100001088442009E/crxir2sp5_net_mm.zip
Re.; I was wondering I am missing something from the server that converts the report to pdf and shows it in the adobe viewer.
Not  that I am aware of.
If SP 5 does not help, a question for you; can you print any pdf document (non CR) from adobe on that server?

  • Use illustrator CS6 Windows in a  Mac ? I've got a pc and want to work on an imac, but is there no way to use my softwares adobe windows ?

    Hi.
    All is in the title.
    If anyone could answer me.
I've got a licence illustrator CS6 windows,  and It would sound me incredible, not to be possible use it on mac.
    Thanks a lot.
    Aurélien

    Thanks a lot Mylenium.
Another question, please : I still have a little doubt with terms (I'm french and my english is not perfect). If I request a platform swap for Illustrator CS6, the new platform product still will be a CS6 ? Because switch to the new version CC would be as if I hadn't yet bought a licence (a subscription would mean pay twice...).
    Thank you for your answer.

    Hello.
How can I solve the error "Data Too Big To Be Stored In Memory" ?
    Thanks.

    Hello.
How can I solve the error "Data Too Big To Be Stored In Memory" ?
    Thanks.
I would recommend to check the requirements of the Adobe product before installing the product. More if you ask them in Adobe forums.

  • Trigger Adobe Window from HCM Form

    Hi All,
We have a requirement where we have to open a ABAP Dynpro window when a button on an HCM Form is pressed.
Certain data would be selected in the Abap Dynpro window and the same would be passed back to the Form.
Any idea how this can be done.
Is any enhancement needs to be done in the standard Dynpro pro component HRASR00_process_execute which contains the HCM Form ?
    Regards,
    Sameer Tapre.

    Hi Sameer,
You dont need to enhance the SAP standard Web Dynpro component HRASR00_processs_execute.  This is currently supported with HCM forms and processes.  You only need to create your ABAP webdynpro that you want to pop up through form in a certain way.
Refer to the blog /people/ian.stubbings/blog/2010/02/22/hcm-processes-forms-web-dynpro-abap-search-helps for step by step details.  There are some standard webdynpro delivered as example and are highlighted in the blog as well.
    Hope this helps.

  • We updated our Adobe: now we can't read PDFs, & the Adobe window comes up in what appears to be Japanese...

…I just tried installing Adobe directly from the Adobe site, but the problem persists.  We have a Mac…  Any thoughts/help on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    What the message says is
Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement then quit and relaunch the browser.
Do this, and you should be fine.
However, I am curious: what is your installed Reader version?  I know this started occurring with 11.0.08, but does it STILL happen with version 11.0.09?

  • I just purchased a Google Chromebook and own several Adobe Windows products.

I am curious to know if I will download and install the Adobe DESIGN AND WEB PREMIUM 6 the same way I did on my Desktop PC on this new Google Chromebook?  I also am subscribed to the Acrobat XL Plus and need to know if that too will cooperate the same way?
    Greg

I appreciate you getting back with me.  I thought that was the case I just wanted to hear it from someone at a higher level of expertise to confirm.  I guess I'll use the work around programs as best I can and keep my Tower PC to create and Collaborate as I was doing originally.  I do like where Google is going with theses Chromebooks and these are great team communication tools that are very affordable.  Take care Mylenium and make it a great day.  :-)
