After compressed the database table affect the system performance

There is a very big database table in my system called MSEG. It is about 910G and the wasted tablespace is about 330G. I want to compress the table, but the table is written and deleted frequently. will it affect the system performance if I compress the table. Or I can only select reorganize the dababase table avoid it affect the system performance? Thanks.

If you talk about table compression, it cannot be done online. we need to do this with a planned downtime. Table compression has some percentage of overhead on CPU. Refer SAP note for

If you talk about online table reorg, yes definitely there would be impact on user performance.
As the table size is very big it may take some days or hours to perform online Reorg.
Other faster method is to perform table export import which is faster than online reorg. But it will again require downtime .

I am working on BI7, I had created Database table in BDV system using SE11. Tech_name is ZGLACC_TEMP. I had activated it. I had used this database table for the purpose of writing the start routine in the transformation. while I am transporting the transformations to the test system, It is showing as syntax error in ABAP program,
In BDV system there are no syntax errors. it is working fine,
So now I have to transport the database table to test system so that I can transport the transformations into Test system without any error.

Hi Sekhar,
Go to SE11, go into the change mode of your table and change the Object Directory entry (Goto -> Object Directory Entry) to some valid package (other than $tmp). Then it will ask for a transport request. Give a transport request and then I believe you know what to do with that transport.
Another thing to keep in mind ... transport all the data elements and domains you have created for this table. Change their Object Directory Entry and assign them to the same transport request.

I think I have found it in IMGR table. Now I want to get IMRG-READG in my report, but there is no common fields in neither MKPF or MSEG table. I see that my record is deleted when I display the records from my internal table, but
now I want to delete the record from database table.
   For that I want to move the content of the modified internal table in the database table. You can see the methods I tried (some of them commented), but nothing seems to work.

the steps to follow -
download JDeveloper 10.1.2 from OTN (9.0.4 is very old and has some features that won't be in the next releases).
Then follow the ADF Workshop from the JDeveloper home page on OTN.

I am using the struts,jsp and spring framework. In my application there are 100s of rows i have to insert into the database 1 by 1. I am using usertransaction all other things are working right but i am not getting the real time performance.
Can anyone tell me the proper method to insert multiple records and also with fast speed

I don't know much about Spring etc, but if the jdbc Statemenet.addBatch(), Statement.executeBatch() statements let you bundle a whole lot of sql commands into one lump to execute.

1. You have to Declare the Itab with the same structure as DB table.
2. Use the statement
    Modify <DBtable> from TABLE <itab>.
or
   Update <DBtable> from TABLE <itab>.

Hi Experts,
I have a issue where i have to update a custom table in an User exit.
I am using Lock object for ENQUE/DEQUE.
I have tried to use statements like UPDATE/MODIFY inside the user exit.
But the problem is that it's not updating the database table at the same time.
I know if i use COMMIT WORK it can update at the same time but it's not advisable to use COMMIT inside a work.and also it gives a short dump.
The real issue is that this custom table is read for batch creation at the same time for different users.
Now if it the program does not update the database table at the same time then other users also read the same data and create the same Batch number..
While requirement is to create a different/unique batch numbers.
Program is updating the table but it's taking time..so in between other users are creating the same batch number.
Please guide me what would be the best solution for this.

My actually requirement is like that.
I have to create a Process Order using tcode COR1.
After passing some input value it goes inside an User Exit.
There one Custom table is maintained which stores some fields like month,year,numeric key field,etc.
The new batch number is created using the combination of these table fields.
Once a new batch number is created it increment the numeric key field number by one.
Issue is we have to update this new numeric field value into the database field so that other users can read a diffrent numeric field value.hence it will create a new/different batch number.
Here i am not able to update the database table inside this User Exit.
Table is geeting updated but after some time and out of this User Exit.
Please suggest what's required in that case?

i need to do direct update to the database table and the table has apprx 60,000 records . i am getting all records from database table to internal table and has to chnage the one of the field value and pass it to the database table . So i am looping the internal table and what is the best approach to update the database table is it to use UPDATE Pa0001 SET KOSTL = it_0001-KOSTL from table it_0001 each time in the loop to update each record and commit work which hits database for each record or use the statement UPDATE pa0001 from table it_0001 and if count = 1000 then COMMIT work in this way it will hit the database for every 1000 records . I created a JDBC connection with the Oracle database (HR schema) using JDeveloper(10.1.3) and then I created an offline database (HR schema)
in JDeveloper from the existing database tables (HR schema). Then I made some updates to the JOBS database table using SQL*Plus.
Then I returned to the JDeveloper tool and refreshed the HR connection. But I found no any changes made to the offline database table JOBS in
JDeveloper.
How to make the JDeveloper's offline tables to be synchronized with the underling database tables?

Once you create an offline table, it's just a copy of a table definition as of the point in time you brought it in from the database. Refreshing the connection, as you describe it, just refreshes the database browser, and not any offline objects. If you want to syncrhnonize the offline table, right-click the offline table and choose "Generate or Reconcile Objects" to reconcile the object to the database. I just tried this in 10.1.3.3 (not the latest 10.1.3, I know), and it works properly.
