Hi TheWeatherFreak1,
Welcome to Adobe Support,
I had posted you earlier prior to the above post, how ever I see that it got deleted due to some reason. I am re posting it for convenience
This error usually comes when you move adobe folder to different location from root drive and try to update the application. Uninstall the application and remove all adobe folders. Restart your machine and install the application again and check for updates. It should Work.

  • CS5 After Effects and Premiere Pro

I am using CS5 After Effects and Premiere Pro with footage from a Canon 5D Mark III. Shooting/editing 1080p 24 (or at least their version of it). What are the best render settings/codecs to use to export from AE for import into Premiere Pro other than the animation codec or Pro Res? I dont have Pro Res and the animation codec is great but the file size slows down the app. Thx in advance.
Or a few resources to explain the whole codec/export/bitrate/etc issue once and for all for different situations wether it be brodcast or internet or simply burning a dvd to play on a HD TV. It is almost like this is some kind of secret no one will tell...LOL...i cant find a difinitive answer anywhere.

As is stated above there are Production codecs which can be lossless, nearly lossless, and at higher bit depth. Production Codecs include Uncompressed (huge files but fast do decode and will not playback in real time) Editing Codecs like Black Magic, Avid, ProRez, and others that are smaller, can still be lossless, may support alpha channels and higher bit depths, and Archival Codecs like Microcosm, JPEG2000, PNG, which support alpha channels, are lossless, and on some systems, will playback in real time.
Editing codecs are specifically designed to be played back in a NLE. These are good choices for a Premiere Pro / AE workflow. So are Archival Codecs. If your project involves a lot of sharing of files between users and apps, then pick a format common to everyone that is at the highest bit depth your storage system can accommodate.
There are also image sequence formats. These include PSD sequences, TGA, TIFF, PNG and others. Some support higher bit depth (32bit Float). Image Sequences work great, have advantages when it comes to correcting just a few frames here and there, and are used to a great extent in professional production pipelines. They are much more flexible than video but they have a distinct disadvantage when it comes to keeping track of the files and keeping things organized.
Then there are delivery codecs. These are designed for playback. They are not suitable for production because delivery codecs use GOP compression, are limited to low bit depth, and are not lossless. IOW, if you render to a delivery codec, then you process and render again to the same codec the artifacts start to build up. H.264 for example, after just 2 or 3 passes, even at very high quality settings, falls completely apart.
Consumer and ProSumer cameras use delivery codecs for image capture. Your Cannon 5D does. This is OK, and it's the only option you've got with some cameras, but the best workflow for these types of capture systems is to transcode the footage to a production codec before you do anything. Production codecs will render faster because it takes less time to decode the footage for processing. You should never render AVCHD or MPEG footage back to the same codec. Always use a production codec until you're project is ready to archive and deliver.
One note on ProRez on Windows. This is not a good idea for production. You cannot maintain proRez native 10bit color space. You should not render to ProRez using 3rd party workarounds because you're just building a proRez container for a windows compressed video. Sure, it will playback on a Mac, but the actual image will have lost important detail and color depth.
Let me give my humble opinion on Dynamic Link. This works great for a shot or two in a Premiere Sequence. This works great for working with Audio in Premiere and Audition. This works great for rendering for delivery or even production using the Adobe Media Encoder. Did you note my second sentence? Dynamic link between AE and Premiere Pro for a few shots in a sequence is a good idea and a time saver, but if you're cutting a film that's over a few minutes, each scene should be it's own sequence. If the scene has more than just a few shots that need to be processed in After Effects then using Dynamic Link can easily become a monster you don't want to deal with. The key to efficient post production of an effects laden production is planning. You've got to cut for story first, then produce your effects shots with sufficient handles (extra frames) to allow some fine tuning, then recut the final. Any other workflow on a long project is just wasting time.

  • Use After Effects and Premiere Pro CS4 with Creative Cloud license

I have a one-year license for Creative Cloud, but because I have a 32-bit version of Windows 7, I can't use After Effects and Premiere Pro. On the website I read that for users with a 32bit OS it is possible to use AE and PP CS4 with the CC license. But I can't find a way to download CS4 with my Creative Cloud account. Can anybody help me with this? Is it possible to download CS4 with a CC license?

I have marked the remark in red. It says: "If you want to use the Windows XP supported After Effects or Adobe Premiere Pro, you have to download the CS-4-versions of the software with your Creative Cloud Membership. U can also use these versions with a 32-bit Windows Operating System."

  • Why i can't use dynamic link between After effects and Premiere Pro?

I have installed the Creative Cloud version of After effects and Premiere Pro (only them, no other software of the suite) but i still can´t link them with dynamic link. the option is in grey, and i can't even click on it.
    Some help? please!

Ok, here goes some information about my hardware and software:
    Allienware M14XR2
Intel Core i7-3610 QM CPU @ 2.30 GHz
    RAM 8 GB
    Windows 7 Home premium
    NVIDIA GE force 650 M
I'm working in a Premiere Pro project using 1920x1080 .mov archives, and the project is in the same resolution.
In Premiere pro, when i go to Archive > Dynamic Link  i only have the option of send it to Encore.
    Is this information enough?
    thanks

If they don't show up then your system doesn't support them. Refer to the system requirements on the product pages.

  • Finder causes After Effects and Premiere Pro CS5 to crash

Basically when attempting to import files into either After Effects or Premiere Pro the Finder causes them to crash.  I'm not sure
if it's the Movies folder specifically thats causing it, but I'm unable to find out for sure because the Movies folder is the default
folder that comes up when I try to import.  Any ideas here? I'm stumped.

What version of MacOS are you running?
If you are on Snow Leopard, you need to be on 10.6.2 or later.

  • After Effects and Premiere Pro, Which do you use first?

Hi. I use premiere pro to edit my videos and now I am learning about after effects and removing blemishes with AE.
My question is, do I edit my audio, colors, etc. in premiere first then do after effects for blemishes or vice versa? I don't want to start and do it backwards. I hope it all works as planned. I am going to try the clone stamp tool, if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. Thank you so much!!

In most cases the most efficient workflow is to edit in Premiere Pro, pick the shots where you need to add effects or compositing that you can't do in Premiere then use one of the following techniques:
For simple AE projects right click on the shot in Premiere Pro and select Replace with After Effects Composition
For more complicated effects and compositing shots copy the shot in Premiere Pro and paste it into AE or render just the shot to a suitable frame based production format and import that into AE
For very complicated shots pick the take and trim the shot in Premiere Pro leaving handles (a few extra frames on the head and tail) and render them to a 10bit or better production format for use in AE
When you have completed your work in AE if you have used step 1 then just save your work and go back to Premiere Pro. For the second and third option, render your AE comps to a suitable production format and import them to Premiere Pro where you will replace the original shots in the sequence.
Note: MP4, H.264 and other MPEG compressed formats are not suitable for production, only for delivery. Don't render your DI (digital intermediates) using these highly compressed formats.

  • Can't import and export  MPEG2 files in After Effects and Premiere Pro.

I don't know when started, but a few days ago my Premiere Pro and After Effects don't recognise MPEG2 files.
When I try to open a Premiere Pro with a MPEG2 file in it: "This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec be associated with this sequence types"

Just to verify that the files are not corrupt...
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... a screen

  • Performance difference between After effects and Premiere Pro

    Hi,
I'm sure this question has come up before and i've found lots of threads talking about After effects performance so I apologise if this is a repeat, i'm very new to Premiere/AE moving from FCP.
Why is it that performance in Premiere Pro is excellent with real time video playback even when applying effects where if I import that same clip into After Effects I get 15fps on a 720p 50fps clip. Am I missing something, a preference maybe or should I expect this kind of performance without completing a RAM preview first.
As a note, I'm testing this on a 2012 Macbook Air as I'm planning on doing simple cuts and adjustments on the road.

    Am I missing something,
Yes. The difference between an edit suite and a compositing program. Seriously, simply accept things as they are and don't try to apply principles from one program to the other when they are based on completely different workflow paradigms which in turn affect the underlying tech stuff.

  • After Effects and Premiere Pro for 32bit system

Does Adobe have a fix to allow installation of Premier Pro and After Effects on a 32bit system?

There is no "fix". AE and Premiere have been 64bit only since CS5. Sorry, but you're late to the party and better upgrade your operating system or the computer hardware in its entirety.

  • After Effects and Premiere Pro.

I was looking at installing the 30 day trial of After effects to go with my full version on Premiere CS3.It turns out that I had installed a 30 trial a few months ago and now I'm stuffed.
My question is can I install the 30 day after effects on a different machine and,if so,is it easy enough to carry the relevant files from one machine to the other-I take it yes on that one!

  • Activate After Effects and Premiere Pro CC

    Good day,
I have a membership in the Creative Cloud, but I can't activate the apps. I signed in with my Adobe ID, and I checked that my account is active, that it still doesn't work. I already changed my billing address as recommended in the help forum, with that doesn't work either. It always asks me for a serial number but I don't know where I would find that. I hope that somebody can give me a hand with this!
    Thanks very much,
    Paris

    Hi Dave,
Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. I have already tried what you suggest, but unfortunately it still doesn't work. For some crazy reason, none of my CC apps activate. I've tried signing out and back in again, and I can see that my Adobe ID is accepted when I launch the applications. When I go to Creative Cloud using my browser, I can see that everything is in order: my account is active, my membership as well, I can see the list of apps and services that I can access. But the link between the desktop link and the Creative Cloud simply doesn't happen. The most frustrating part is that there is no error message; the CC apps all look like trial versions and ask me for a serial number. When I click on "license this software" it asks me again for my adobe ID and when I enter it the next screen asks me to enter a license number.
In the Adobe forum I found this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/ccm-prompt-serial-number.html on which they say that a possible cause is a error in my billing address. I followed the steps and tried to change the billing address, with no luck: when I try to change the address so that it looks exactly the same as on my credit card, I get this message:
We're sorry, something seems to be wrong on our end. Please try again later.
When I go to the chat, they try to transfer me to technical support and leave me hanging there, lost in space. The transfer never happens, or doesn'r work - who knows.
If anybody can help me, I would really appreciate it. What good is the new system if one cannot get access to the apps?
Thanks in advance for your time!
    -Paris

  • After Effects CS6 and Premiere Pro CS6 not available for installation for 32-bit systems

After Effects CS6 and Premiere Pro CS6 require a 64-bit operating system and processor to be installed and run.
If you subscribe to Creative Cloud but use a 32-bit computer system, you will not be able to download and install Premiere Pro CS6 or After Effects CS6.
This issue primarily affects users on the Windows operating system, since all supported versions of the Mac OSX operating system are able to run 64-bit applications.
    See this document for details:
"64-bit Windows required for After Effects and Premiere Pro CS6"
In general, you can only download and use applications for which your computer system meets the minimum system requirements.

Who's says that Microsoft can't debug?
I used msconfig, first disabling startup items, -same result.
Enabled all startup items, disabled all non-microsoft services - AE worked!
I re-enabled each service in turn until AE crashed.
The fault was related to an item for a video streaming device I have in my house.  It was Monsoon-multimedia's Vulkano Service.  Sometimes under the old name of Hava, this is an app that acts like a sling-box to send my Cable TV to my screen.  It does load a couple of virtual devices in device manager, and uses a proprietary codec.
I uninstalled the vulkano streamer application and rebooted the external Vulkano device.  I reinstalled the Vulkano and verified it connected to the device and could stream.  Once it did, I tried AE again and IT WORKED!
I wonder if simply rebooting the Vulkano would have fixed it.  Its like opening the garage door to turn on the refridgerator.
    Thanks for the help!
    Jim
