AFTER EFFECTS CS4 Rendering Problems....

Hey people I have been having some rendering problems on CS4 It's very random when i'm getting these errors, sometimes it's just for the one frame..which i'm not bothered about because at 60fps, 1 frame isn't going to be noticable. But at the end of my last render, the last 10 frames are like this, but differ between pink and white at the top. (see picture at the bottom)
Here are my settings
lossless, with audio checked
avi output format
no compression method
Also i've re-rendered the dodgy footage in sony vegas but that didn't change anything
that is what the frame looks like....
If anyone can help me id be so thankful.... so please post!!!
also if you have any questions just post and i will get back to you ASAP

Since we don't know what this frame is SUPPOSED to look like, it's extremely difficult to offer up a solution.
If you're talking about the weird color in the corners, you can work in 16 or 32-bit comps, or add a little noise to the image.  Not much.

  • [Help] After Effects CS4 Sound Problem (Mac)

    Hey, everyone.
First post so I hope nobody is gunna rage at me for being a noob.
I have After Effects CS4 on Mac 10.5.8 and until recently it was running great, but then i started to get this problem where my sound was all high pitched and chipmunk like. How can i fix this and get the sound back to normal? (By the way the sound is still the same speed as before, just it sounds like its got chipmunk setting on or something)
Many thanks to anyone who could help.

Check the Quicktime system panel. If anything there is whacked, you would notice it by odd values, e.g. a wrong default sample rate. The rest I can't help you with - only you know what tools you use on your system. Also, which we have overlooked at this point, make actualyl sure the output speakers are okay. For external speakers, something simple like a loose plug can considerably influence audio quality.

  • Premiere Pro  CS4 After Effects CS4 Redraw problem

Greetings. I can't quite figure out how to research this problem. I have included some pics to the
screen grabs to illustrate my point.
    The problem is, I have a redraw problem with all Adobe programs that have a timeline in them. Flash, After Effects, Premiere Pro;
I am using a 8800GTS card with the latest drivers from nVidia's website.
As you can see I have multiple mouse images that remain on the screen when I scrube the time line ( in all adobe programs). There is also another really weird problem; when I open a quicktime movie with PPro CS4 open the audio runs at half speed or slower. When I close PPro the audio reverts back to normal speed?
I am using: Borris CC6 Boris 9.2 Boris Red 4.3, Genarts Sapphir Effects, Pixelan Spicmaster 2.5, and Hollywood FX 5 plugins.
Any light on the subject would help or if you could point me in the right direction I'll do the research.
    Thanks for the help.

assuming the problem is only in adobe apps and not anything else right?
    Hmm...
Well, you can try some of these things
trash the prefs and clean media cache, though I doubt it will help you in this case
try with a new project and see if the problem persists
uninstall ALL plugins and see if that corrects the issue (clearly HFX5 was never meant for CS4 at a minimum and I'm not a fan of old boris stuff - very buggy)
uninstall and reinstall the Adobe apps and see if that fixes the issue.  If it does add back in CS4 compatible plugins only one at a time and see if the problem returns.
also what os are you using and how much memory do you have?  could you be running out of memory on a 32bit os?

  • After Effects CC Rendering Problem

I'm using After effects to make a video intro that's pretty short.  Problem is, when I go to check the rendered video it's a 1/10th of the length I wanted it to be.  The animation and optical flare show up, but the file is only 2 seconds long.  When I check the render settings the in/out is 0/15 seconds.  Anyone know why it's making the video so short yet still doing all the animation I wanted?

What I ended up doing was importing a video with the background I needed that was the length I wanted the effects go for so that the program would export the whole file in the 12 second format I wanted, not just an accelerated version of it.

  • After Effects CS4 Rendering Error

Every time I try to render a small loop I get the error message of :After Effects Error: Creating file "comp1.mov"- Access denied (-5000) (3::3)
can any body help me out here?

What version of AE are you using and on what OS ?
Basically AE cannot write your file because it's already been used by another program. It could be locked by Quicktime, or maybe locked by your antivirus, or Time machine, or Even AE if the file is opened in your project.
It also can be locked because of file/folder permission (even if you are an administrator on Vista for exemple, your software cannot write file to some places without running them in Administrator mode, by rightclicking on them and selecting "run as admin").
Try to close any application that could be using your file, and try to export your file to another directory with another filename.

    Thanks

I would, in a perfect world, like to render the video with the text with these exact same settings (or without rendering the video but just adding the text). Is there any way I could do this?
No. For all intents and purposes, that is completely mutually exclusive. The footage must be decoded at any cost then the text integrated into the background pixels, resulting in a re-encode. It's simply not possible for technical reasons in any program on this planet. The only way to achieve some sort of pass-through would not to do anything to the footage but cut it, but obviously that is not happening here and also would require a program like Premiere or Vegas to handle it. Based on that, in these programs you could also selectively re-encode only the sections thatr have the text, but never ever any of that in Ae. As a compositing program, it always expands the pixel data fully and after that, everything is a full new encode. so ultimately, how you out put it from there doesn't matter. Naturally, to avoid further recompression once you go back to your edit program, you would use visualyl lossless formats like Quicktime animation or PNG, but that's very much it...

You need to read up on that stuff and make sure your settings are consitent in the output module settings as well as in the Encoder itself. If you have audio, turn it on in both places. If your comp is an odd size, use a different MPEG Level.

  • Severe audio problems in After Effects CS4 and MXF and more...

    Hi!
I've been experiencing a lot of problems lately with several CS4 products.
First, and the worst, is that there seems to be some severe audio bug in After Effects when handling mxf-files. I pre-cut a project in premiere CS4, shot with a Sony EX1, and then imported the project in After Effects CS4.
In premiere everything worked fine and I had all the audio. In AE however the audio matched with the MXF-files disappeared (Yes I had the import audio box checked). All other audio worked fine from the music tracks and so on, but the MXF-files (MXF for NLE) was completely blank, the waveforms were completely flat. I checked every option there is in AE regarding audio and tried enabling and disabling XMP ID's and so on. After a lot of tweaking and testing I understood that the problem was not with any settings anywhere, the MXF-files lacked audio even if I started a new project and just imported the MXF-file.
The problem seems to be connected to when importing from Premiere. My colleague was editing a similar project on his computer in After Effects without problems, and he started out fresh in AE (didn't pre-cut in premiere). However, we tried to move my project to his computer, to see if the problem was connected with incompability with my hardware or such, and he got the same problem as me when he opened the project. Waveforms on MXF-files were completely flat. Certain confirmation that the problem was not connected with my computer appeared when he later reopened his own project, that had worked fine before, and audio was now completely gone - waveforms flat. An hour later, by chance, his audio suddenly popped back.
I have experienced this problems in two different projects in different forms (but both pre-cut in premiere). In the first, audio disappeared while previewing but was there when I ctrl-scrolled and rendered (no I hadn't muted audio in the preview panel). In the second, audio was completely gone even when rendered.
In both cases I tried saving and restarting the computer, reimporting from premiere, starting a fresh after effects project and only importing the mxf-files, changing the project settings, fps fixed to the correct instead of auto, changing output audio mapping, changing XMP, and so on in every possible way and combination I could imagine.
At my company our suspicion is that After Effects flags mfx-files imported from Premiere in some wierd way, to strengthen and ensure compatibility between the two - regarding different audio tracks, settings and effects from premiere (and this is almost what you could suspect that the XMP ID is for, but as explained with or without doesn't change a thing regarding this). We have no problem with the pure MXF support for AE, as MXF-files work just fine in After Effects if you import them directly and have not imported them through premiere earlier (but after a file has been "flagged" you seem to be sc***ed)
Anyone else experiencing this? Or am I missing something huge?
As additional notes, the dynamic link function seems extremely buggy and both premiere both sometimes complains about "dynamic link already in use and only one connection blah blah" even though only one link is used, and even though you restart the projects, programs, computer, whatever.
In furher addition Adobe Media Encoder (which also seems to be using some sort of dynamic link offspring) is super-buggy and most codec formats either doesn't start to render or just renders partially and then the program hangs. The problem have a connection with a process named pproheadless.exe eating upp all the RAM (4gbs).
(My workstation has been working smoothly for one and a half years and I have had very little problems with CS3 and "just" AE CS4. I am cautious of updates, don't have spyware and use Quicktime 7.5 as 7.5.5 is superbuggy and people seems to have problems with 7.6 and it doesn't fix the gamma issues anyway.)
Sorry if this was a long post but the problem is compl

Dude, that's what these forums are all about. Everyone in here says they dont work for Adobe, but they all act like apologists for what is clearly a disaster of a software release.  My complaints aren't as specialized as yours, just very basic, and I wont go into all of them, because the list is long, and includes nearly every program in CS4.
I'm going for a refund, either from the retailer or my credit card company. Releasing software like this is dishonest.

  • Problem installing trial version of After Effects CS4

    Hi,
I'm trying to install the trial version of After Effects CS4 on Windows Vista Ultimate Service Pack 1 32-bit Operating System, Processor 2.4GHz, RAM 4GB.
At the initializing stage it gets to 90% on the 'Checking System Profile...' dialog box, something flashes and then it freezes.
I've downloaded it a second time in case of corruption.
I've rebooted several times and retried it with no other applications running.
I've run updates on any existing adobe products I have.
Any ideas?  I've never had problems installing adobe products before.
    Thanks.

    Not your fault, known issue.
    a) Download the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility and install it
    b) Download the CS4 Cleanup Utility from Adobe's support pages
    c) Run the CS4 Cleanup, electing to remove all debris from your failed install
    d) Manually uninstall all instances of Adobe AIR products (Acrobat.com, Adobe Media Palyer) using Add or Remove Programs
    e) Launch the Microsoft Installer Cleanup and look for instances of Adobe Installer 2.0. Have them removed. Optionally, have it remove other Adobe stuff that may have been left over from CS4.
    f) Try to install CS4
Note: The cleanup utilities will not remove anything physically, only clean out the installer, so they pose no danger to your system. You will only lose the ability to uninstall those programs from Add or Remove Programs.

  • Adobe After Effects CS4 trial installation problem, Please Help!

Ok, I downloaded the trail version of Adobe After Effects CS4 onto my PC (Windows XP). When I try to run the setup (by double-clicking it), a window pops up saying 'Adobe setup has encountered a problem and needs to close.' Does anyone know why this is, and how I might be able to fix it? I already tried re-downloading it, and I checked the system requirements. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME BECAUSE I REALLY WANT TO USE THIS! If it will help here are my PC's specs:
Operating System - Windows XP with service pack 3
    RAM - 2.0GB
Graphics Card - ATI Radeon HD 4830
    Processor - Intel Core 2 Dual 2.2GHz
    Monitor Resolution - 1280x1024
    Thanks

    Verify the following:
    a) you run as administrator
    b) your virus scanner and firewall don't interfere
    c) you have enough temporary disk space
    d) no other tools are interfering
For b), simply turn those tools off during install. For c), check your user temp directory (C:\Documents and Settings\You\Local Settings\Temp). Clean it out either manually or using tools like CCleaner. Also defragment your drive. For d), you may need to uninstall otehr Adobe software. also monitor your task manager for processes and services that may have a negative impact. A dump of those can easily be generated using HijackThis!, so you can post the list here for verification, if needed. also provide any otehr info that could be important, like e.g. special drivers or user settings.

  • After Effects CS4 error during render

The error appearing is as follows...
After Effects: AEGP Plugin Media IO Plugin:
    Unknown Error!
    MediaIO2 error: 0x4
Not enough memory to complete this encoding
    ( 5027 :: 12 )
Now, my computer memory is very poor (1.98 GB RAM), however, I do not believe this is the issue as I have tried rendering the exact same file on my other computer with 8.00 GB RAM, but the same error occurs.
I am completely baffled with why this error may be occuring, I have tried many ways to try and stop this. Such as...
Changed the "RAM to leave for other Applications" to 0.25 GB
    Enabled Multiprocessing
Enabled Disk Cashe and to a size of 10,000 GB
Installed the latest update of After Effects CS4
Tried changing After Effects CS4's priority and affinity using Task Manager
Tried rendering with only After Effects opened with all other applications closed
Rendering with different output modules rather ".wmv", such as ".avi" etc.
Changed the video size from 856x480 to 428x240 etc.
I have tried rendering different sections of the video to avoid the parts where it has previously failed to render, however, it is continuing to crash and fail regardless of the section
The project I am rendering is rather large (4 Minute File), consisting of atleast 1 GB worth of imported video (.wmv) and images (.png) etc. However, before today, rendering was never problem and my renders would always run smoothly without crashing, so i'm completely unsure on what the possible change is and what could resolve the issue.
Thank you, all help is appreciated!

  • Quicktime X and After Effects CS4 - Unwanted Color / Gamma shift

    Hello,
Upon the import of ANY video footage file into After Effects CS4, there is an immediate color (I am guessing a gamma shift) difference between how the video appears in Quicktime (both X and the older player) and how it appear in the After Effects composition window.
Footage appears to be darker in AE and lighter in quicktime, both before and after export. The gamma/color then appears roughly the same when being compressed via h.264 and uploaded to the web (the same in Safari, much darker via Firefox).
My main concern is simply getting AE's color to match Quicktime's so that I can have as close of a match between the color I think I have created in AE, and the actual color that appears in my final output to the web.
I have tried using all of the fixes to be found relating to gamma shifts via .h264, prores, etc. but nobody seems to have this problem with every codec, even animation. I have tried assigning color profiles in AE, matching quicktime legacy formats, etc. All of the options available in AE to no avail.
My monitor is calibrated fine, I am using Perian, All of the latest software updates. Any advice much appreciated!

Hi, thanks for the link. While helpful I am still having problems!
I tried using the method described with Automator to assign a color profile to a test Animation file, created from scratch in AE and rendered out as an Animation with no color management (previously it made no difference to the quicktime gamma shift as to if I had assigned a working color space or not within AE).
Automator only gives three color profile options, HD, SD, or PAL. I tried using HD as this is the size of video I normally work in (although I am also working in PAL), and ran Automator. I also tried using PAL and got identical results. It took about 30 seconds to finish and the result indeed looked much better in QT, and opened up in AE looking identical to a copy of the same .mov file with no color correction.
However, there is *still some change in the image quality as it appears in QT from how it (and the original) appears in AE*.
Original created / displayed in AE: What I am trying to maintain
Rendered out, Automator color profile HD assigned, and opened in QT: Gamma looks good but colors slightly more saturated than original in AE.
Rendered out with no color profile: Original problem with large gamma shift making everything bleached/washed out.
I have a screen shot I can show you to illustrate this here:
    http://www.yousendit.com/download/THE0ek9xa0RxRTNIRGc9PQ
While the difference is subtle you can look at the RGB numbers and see the middle example is indeed more saturated.
Perhaps I need to use another color profile when working with the animation codec for animations created from scratch in AE to avoid this saturation shift, other than HD or PAL? Would you know of how to do this?
Also, would you know of how to change this, and perhaps a way of changing qucktime's interpretation rules for all animation files per se, so that I do not need to go through every .mov with the animation codec and assign profiles to them?
Many thanks for your time and sorry for being so long winded!
