Agile PLM Concurrency Problem

Hi,
We have a URL based Process Extension that basically sets three multi list attributes through out the BOM structure of an item based on the values selected by the user in UI. When two users trigger the PX on the same item at the same time or on different items with common BOMs, we are encountering the below problem:
1. PX picks up the first user’s thread, gets the already present selection on the multi list , adds the values user selected to the existing selection and sets all the values on the multi list attribute.
2. Meanwhile, PX picks up the second user’s thread, who is also trying to set values on the same multi list value. Here we are refreshing the object and getting the already present selection for the multi list on the object. At this point, instead of giving the value which was set by the first user, it gives the old value which was present initially when the PX got triggered (not giving the latest value from the existing selection of the multi list).
In the above scenario, SDK is not throwing any exception and results in bad data. We checked Agile API and there is no function to lock Agile object. Has anyone faced similar kind of problem? If so can you share your inputs on resolving the issue. Thank you.

Agile PLM - how to archive attachments

This might be the wrong forum - but I am utterly frustrated after paging through Oracle's support documentation, and waiting for nearly a month for a reply from the support organization.
We've been using Agile for over five years now - currently we're running Agile PLM, version 9.2.1.4.
My current problem is the attachment store. Specifically we have no means to archive the files there.
This is a huge problem: analysis indicates that a majority of the files we currently have there were written once and never looked at again. Many are not looked at after a few weeks. We've got years and years of data that no one will ever want to view - but we can't just get rid of it due to regulatory restrictions.
So what I've got is this huge fat store of useless bits that I can't delete, that I seem to have no way to move to lower cost storage or run to tape. It just sits there, forever, eating money for power and disk space and causing headaches.
The mantra 'disk is cheap' is true when one is shopping at Best Buy for a new hard drive. It is NOT true when you have networked attached storage and terabytes of data and it never stops growing.
How are we supposed to archive data in Agile PLM? We've got the people smarts to implement a solution, what we seemingly lack is any concern on Oracle's part for ongoing costs associated with Agile PLM deployment. Give us a guide, something, anything, that will allow us to archive these files before my NAS explodes.

Hello,
Attachments to your business transaction will not be archived when you archive your business document.
First you have to figure out where is your attachment stored?
If it is stored in SAP Table then you can think of relocation / migration of attachments to your external content server.
If attachment is already stored in external content server then nothing to worry about these documents. Users can display Physical attachments even after you archive business document from respective archiving object.

Backend tables information in Agile PLM 8.5 and 9.3 versions

I am upgrading Agile PLM version 8.5 that currently has Oracle database 9g, to version 9.3 application and backend Oracle database to 11g.
I need to verify the data between Agile database and our EBS database and am wondering if anyone can give me info on querying the tables in Agile database, or the tablenames in the Agile PLM databases.
I am able to connect to the Oracle database in Agile using the dblink, but couldn't figure out the tables that exist there. thanks

If it is an Oracle database then you can get a list of tables from all_tables, a list of columns from all_tab_cols, and a listing of objects from all_objects.
If you wish to do data comparisons look into using the built in DBMS_COMPARISON package.

Creating Custom BI Reports from Oracle Agile PLM

Hi All,
Firstly apologies if this post is in the wrong forum, I struggling to find any real Oracle Agile Support.
I have been tasked with developing 3 custom BI reports for Oracle Agile. I have used BI Publisher in the past but only within Oracle E-Business Suite. From what I have seen so far Oracle Agile is a lot different.
What I need to understand is within Oracle Agile how do I create the XML Data file for the custom report, and then how do you then register the RTF template and run the report within Oracle Agile PLM.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Agile PLM Read Only Tables

Hello,
Im working on Agile PLM and facing issues in modifying the 'Change History' for an Item.
When i'm executing following code-
ITable table = item.getTable(ItemConstants.TABLE_CHANGEHISTORY);
Map param = new HashMap();
param.put(ItemConstants.TABLE_CHANGEHISTORY, "10");
IRow row = table.createRow(params);
Following error is observed
Exception in thread "main" Error code : 60063
Error message : Object is read-only
Agile SDK documentation says the table "Change History" is a Read-Only table, how can i make it writable??
Any pointers in this regards will be helpful.

Hi,
Only the released/canceled changes with the Affected Items could be listed in the Item's 'Change History' table. You cannot force any data write to Change History directly.

Concurrency Problem: Does it exist in following situation?

Hi All
Please consider the following problem:
There are 100 systems connected through LAN. 99 systems have a tool in local drive that reads and writes certain files at 100th system.
As the tool will work in local JVM, and each JVM will try to read & write the same file. is there any concurrency problem?
OR
i should ask how to solve this concurrency problem?
Please provide your advice, suggestion or comments.

one more thing, if i have a server and doesn't use J2EE at all, is there goin to be some problem? can this be imlements using core java only.
All JVM interacts with one JVM at server. is it a good idea?

How to remove authentication to access Agile PLM object's attachment link

In Agile PLM web client, create part and add attachment. Now select the attachment row, click More and select ‘Get Shortcut’ option. Paste this link in browser. It will ask for authentication and once you give the details it will open the file.
The link I got from ‘Get Shortcut’ looks like http://<Server>/Agile/link/..
Can anyone tell me how to remove this authentication?

I would restore User's file structre back to normal just by copying from standby user?

For the unknown user, as you said, it's probably a user account from second OS or

Session concurrency problems on using IFrame

Hi All,
I am working on internationalization , i've used session level for differnt languages . In a jsp page there is one IFrame
when i opend jsp page for english, content of IFrame is also english
But when i open arbic version simultaneously Content of IFrame are not arabic those are english.
When i print the session ID inside IFrame then i found that sessionID are overlapped inside IFrame.
But everything is working fine for outer jsp page.There is no concurrency problem.
Note : I track this error while setting the page referesh time one second
using meta tag.
Please help me for this issue.If you need any code for that please tell me.

is the url of your iframe the same as your outer page?
if your outer page is http://127.0.0.1 and the iframe is http://localhost, you will have 2 sessions

Agile PLM PIP

Need advice on the product versions -
We have Oracle EBS 11.5.10.2 and Agile PLM 9.3 both running on IBM Aix Servers. We want to add SOA, AIA and Agile PLM PIP into this mixture. From what I have read so far, AIA is not certified on WLS. Does this mean, I need to be on SOA 10.1.3.4 on OAS only? We also plan to use BPEL for orchestrating other processes outside of Agile and EBS. What would you recommed?

Yes. Design to Release PIP is currently certified to run on SOA Suite 10.1.3.4 and OAS. In the future, there are plans to have PIPs certified to run on FMW 11g and WLS.

Accessing Agile PLM over Internet

Hi,
I am trying to access Agile PLM 93 URL over internet. I configured IIS and was successful in accessing the web URL on internet.
But when I select an attachment row of an object and select More -> Get Shortcut option. Then I paste this link in browser, I am getting the below error
Error Code: 403 Forbidden. The server denied the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Contact the server administrator. (12202)
The same attachment link is working fine in intranet. Are there any steps to be done for file manager?

Concurrency problem

Hi,
If we have our logic of updating a balance in a table written in front end, there's possibility that 2 person may select and update at the same time.
eg. balance is 100, and Mr.A wants to deduct 10, same as Mr. B.
When Mr.A selects to read the balance then update, he reads 100, same as Mr. B.
At the end, the balance will not be accurate.
So, I am now shifting the logic for updating the balance to database triggers, will this solve the concurrency problems?

Since I have my code written in trigger already, I don't really have the time to change it to select for update clause yet.
What I need to know is if I put the following code in my trigger, will the database trigger take care of the concurrency issue?
/* inside the trigger */
select balance
from mytable
where mt_id = 100;
update mytable
set balance := balance - 10
where mt_id = 100;
Notice I don't have the for update clause in my trigger, is it ok? or the trigger will still face the concurrency problem only if I use for update even in trigger?

We are pleased to announce the General Availability of Agile PLM for Process Extensibility Pack 3.6 as of October 30th, 2013.
Extensibility Pack 3.6 provides two new technical enablement features:
Email Extensibility
Customizing the content of workflow emails in GSM and SCRM without custom code is now easier with the addition of a new set of placeholder variables, conditional variables, and other capabilities. These variables are available by deploying a new set of plugins, which can be configured through the CustomPluginExtensions.xml file.
Some examples of the new functionality include:
Displaying new data in the emails, such as the workflow Comment, Cross Reference numbers, Category/Sub-category/Group, a trade specification’s GTIN, a material specification’s Ingredient Statement, etc.
Providing meaningful related specification information in Signature Document emails.
Conditionally displaying data, such as only including a material specification’s classification if it is an Approved status.
User Interface Extensibility
Clients wishing to customize specific User Interface behavior, such as marking certain fields as read only, or applying formatting to show required fields, will be able to do this using the User Interface Extensions feature. Clients can write simple Javascript code which then gets pulled into the desired user interface pages. I have PCI 8532 devicenet card in my system, the test unit has devicent implemented in it,
to verify devicenet is working or not we check whether we can read Devicenet vendor id, I have downoaded the latest driver NI-IndComDNET2.1-Beta1.
Thanks for the new update. I developed a VI which is very similar to GetIdentityAttrs VI which is in Example.
Port opens fine, but I cannot see connection being established.I always get the error Error -1074388991 occurred at Get DeviceNet Attribute.vi
I know connections are proper and the Device MAC ID and speed too. Pls throw some light.'

Has anyone successfully integrated or incorporated data from an Agile PLM installation into SAP Hana? Does SAP have experience in moving object oriented databases into In Memory schemas?

For Agile A9 or Primavera questions, you can use Oracle Support, Support Communities, Yahoo Groups for Agile API or WRAU.
This forum is for Agile PLM for Process, which is part of the same Agile family but a different product.
