Alias table - join problem

Hi,
I am having time Dim for that I have created two alias tables DIM_TIME (STA) and DIM_TIME (STD).
Both were joined with STA_ID and STD_ID of DIM_Product.
When I am trying to fetch Dim_Time Time_Id with STA_ID from Dim_Product instead of selecting from DIM_TIME (STA) it's selecting from
DIM_TIME (STD).
Please see the executed query.
select distinct T7901.TIME_ID as c1,
T6838.STA_ID as c2
from
DIM_TIME T7901 /* DIM_TIME (STD) */ ,
DIM_PRODUCT T6838
where ( T6838.STD_ID = T7901.TIME_ID )
order by c1, c2
How to get the desired result?
Thanks,
Vino

Hi,
Thanks for the reply,
In BMM I used the Alias tables as LTS for DIM_Time. And Join DIM_Time with DIM_Product.
So it was not able to do the join.
Currently I have created separate DIM for the aliases in BMM layer and joined it with DIM_Product, now the joins are
working fine.
Thanks,
Vino

I find solution on Oracle® Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition Release Notes.
If you use a version of Oracle Database 10g Release 2 prior to 10.2.0.3, then you might encounter an issue with a Full Outer Join that causes severe database performance issues and appears to hang the database when the Oracle BI Server sends to the database SQL queries that include WITH clauses.
To work around this issue when using Oracle Database 10g Release 1 or 2, upgrade to Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Patch Set 2 (for 10.2.0.3). For performance reasons, this is the preferred workaround.
To work around this issue without installing Patch Set 2, modify the Database Features table using the Administration Tool. This configuration prevents the Oracle BI Server from sending SQL constructs that expose the issue in an unpatched Oracle Database 10g.
To modify the Database Features table:
In the Administration Tool, open the properties of the Physical Database metadata object.
    Navigate to the Features tab.
Ensure the values for the PERF_PREFER_MINIMAL_WITH_USAGE and PERF_PREFER_INTERNAL_STITCH_JOIN entries are selected, that is, set to True.

  • Essbase alias table problem

    Hi,
I have a problem while importing a new alias table. I have a Time Dimension which has a child 200901, and which has qtr1,...qtr4, and each qtr has months, and months have dates(stored hierarchy)
    like 20090101..so on,
and Time Dim has another child that is week, ,
weeks have childs as dates,(the dates here are shared members)
when i am trying to load new set of alias its getting properly loaded for stored members ,but not getting loaded for shared members.
could anyone sort out what the problem is?
    Thanks,
    Ram

    HI Ram,
If your outline read like this
    Time
         200901
              qtr1.
                   20090101( alias: sample_alias)
              qtr2.
         week
              20090101( shared , alias : sample_alias)
Its possible, and I have tried at my end . The same alias would work for the shared member too.
It would actually not work with anyother stored member ,as the same alias name has been used already

  • Problem with alias table loading

I am trying to load an alias table. As far as I know the .alt file needs to be kept on the server where Essbase is installed, not on the client machine.
i have Remote connected to the server machine and kept the file ALT.alt directly under in the C drive.
    when running the following script:
    alter database 'APP'.'DB' load alias_table 'S' from data_file "C:\ALT.alt";
I get the error that the file does not exist..
Could you guys please clarify the situation.

This file you were hoping to load: it's on the server, right? Not on the computer where the applet is running in a browser?
(At least that's a common mistake made by people when they write their first applet.)
If that's the case then you can't use a File object to access a file on a different computer. To access a file on the server, first you will have to put the file in a place on the server where it can be downloaded. Then in your applet you need to get a URL for the file. (The getDocumentBase() method can be used to prevent you from having to hard-code the full URL for the file.) Next, "this.getClass().getResourceAsStream(URL)" gets you an InputStream from which you can read the data from the file.

  • 3 Table Join with group by and order by clauses

I am porting from MySQL to Oracle 8i. I have a three Table Join in MySQL as follows:
    select distinct TO_DAYS(l.listend)-TO_DAYS(NOW()) AS daysLeft, i.minbid, l.listend, i.itemid, i.itemtitle, l.listingid, l.lendstart, l.lendend, l.status, MAX(b.amount) AS curBid, COUNT(b.amount) AS numBids from TBL_ITEMS i, TBL_LISTING l LEFT JOIN TBL_BIDS b ON l.listingid=b.listingid where i.itemid = l.itemid AND l.status='1' AND (TO_DAYS(l.listend)-TO_DAYS(NOW()) >= 0) AND i.catcode LIKE'12__' GROUP BY listingid order by curBid DESC, daysLeft;
It performs an straight join on the first 2 tables (TBL_ITEMS and TBL_LISTING) and a LEFT JOIN between the previous result set and TBL_BIDS. TBL_BIDS uses a group by clause to obtain MAX and COUNT info. This final result set is the sorted (ORDER BY).
I have tried to reconstruct this type of call in Oracle and have failed. Several problems that I have notices: Oracle does not let me pull in additional columns when doing a GROUP BY clause.
(see below for my work around)
I have worked around the problem by creating a TABLE with the group by functionality and doing a straing 3 table join. (NOTE: I cannot create a view because use a LIKE function in the call... view dont have indexes). However, when I try to alias the column that returns DATE subtraction ("l.listend-TRUNC(SYSDATE) daysLeft" OR "l.listend-TRUNC(SYSDATE) dayLeft") I cannot use the LIKE statement.
Here is my question. How do I port the above 3-table MySQL call to Oracle. Why am I having these problems (is it the Oracle optimizer?) and how do I avaopid them in the future.
I really appreciate anyone's input. Thanks,

    WORK AROUND:
    FIRST STEP:

  • SAP Query Alias Table in Info-set not working

    Hi Guys,
I'm having a bit of trouble with a query I'm writing in SQ01.
I am trying to create a standard margin report between two different costing variants that we use.
n order to do so I have had to employ the use of alias tables.
I have named the alias tables KEKO_2 and KEPH_2 accordingly and joined them in the info set with the same joins as the original tables (Left Outer to MARC on MATNR and WERKS)
However, when I have come to test the query in SQ01 I get a runtime error which states the following:
The following syntax error was found in the program
      AQA0MASTER_DATA=STANDARDMARGIN :
"Field "KEPH_2-KST001" is unknown. It is neither in one of the specified
    tables nor defined by a "DATA" statement . . . . . . . . . ."
But it is in a specified table! My alias table.
How can I make this query work?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Strange behaviour of view based on several tables join with union all

Dear fellows we r facing a strange problem we have a view based on several tables joined by union all ,when we issue an ordered query on date, rows returned are unusually different than they should be .
Is oracle has some special behaviour for view based on union all ?
    I m using oracle 8.1.6 on windows 2000
    Kashif Sohail

Did you ever solve this problem? I have two select statements based on 4 tables and 3 views using about 5 more tables. When I execute each select individually I get exactly what is expected. When I UNION ALL both selects together, I get "no rows returned", however when I UNION them I get exactly what is expected. I should get the same answer for both UNION ALL and UNION. The two select statements are identical, except for one column where I changed the constant to be different. Any thoughts?

  • Resolve self-reference table by alias tables in detail

    Hello Gurus,
can you tell me how to resolve self-reference table by alias tables in detail?
    Many thanks.

Hello, for the following step 3, I don't understand, will you please give me some explanation for step 3?
Save your Staff universe, and test the results in Web Intelligence Rich Client as follows:
    1. Run a query using Manager and Employee. Add a count on both columns.
    2. Add a query with only the Manager object. Add a count. Is this the correct value?
    3. Open your Staff universe in Universe Designer and edit the Manager object. To ensure
that the data is restricted to only manager data, use the Tables button. Select the
EMPLOYEE table, to force the object to use the join between the table and restrict the
    data.
    4. Test the result, creating a new query with only the Manager object. It returns the correct
    number of managers.
    5. Edit the query and add Employee. Run and display the count. There are 26 rows. Why?
The join restricts the data to look only for employees that have managers. However, there
is a manager that does not have a manager, and is now excluded.
    6. Open your Staff universe in Universe Designer and add an outer join on the MANAGER
    table side.
    7. Save the changes and test the results in Web Intelligence Rich Client.

order by dra.repair_numbereach diffrent problem codes for same repair number here i am want records relevant to Depot Repair

In 11.5.9, the problem and resolution codes are stored in FND_LOOKUP_VALUES table with lookup type as 'REQUEST_PROBLEM_CODE' and 'REQUEST_RESOLUTION_CODE'. I'm hoping you could still use these tables to find problem codes, even if you were on 11.5.10 or R12.
    Join would be something like:
    WHERE fnd_lookup_values.lookup_type = 'REQUEST_PROBLEM_CODE'
    AND fnd_lookup_values.problem_code = cs_incidents_all_b.problem_code
Regarding restricting the query for Depot Repair service requests, you need to restrict by the the incident_type_id for this type of SRs (like id for Depot incident type is 10003 for us).

  • About alias tables

What is the use of alias table in physical layer what is the use of it
if i am not using alias tables so what is the impact???
i heard that alias table is use full for avoiding circular joins and self joins
can you make me little bit clear on it
    Thanks
    sreedhar

I dont know whether it will improve performance but aliases are basically used when you want to do self join .One good example is to calculate second maximum salary .In that case you will make aliases of one table twice. In obiee alaises are basically used when you want to join same table with same fact twice .For example one fact can join to time dimesnion twice with diffrent join condition .
In that case you need to create alias of original table .If you join the same table with fact twice then OBIEE will throw an error that circular joins are not allowed,This is an example of circular join.

  • Refresh using alias table not returning expected results

I am getting some unexpected results in SmartView and can't figure out the cause. I have an Essbase cube that has two alias tables: the "default" and one that I call "Short Descr". I can consistently bring back data using "none" and "default", but not "Short Descr". When I use "Short Descr" data will come back for some of the members, but not for others.
Here is an example of a query using "none" as the alias table:
         Net Income
         RD10078
         Y-T-D(MAR)
    PRJG939306      20,372.05
    PRJLG921508      (26.42)
    Project      (1,179,752.36)
If I change the alias table to "Short Descr", I get the following results:
         Net Income
         ITA (RD10078)
         Y-T-D(MAR)
    PRJG939306 (PRJG939306)      20,372.05
    PRJLG921508 (PRJLG921508)      (26.42)
    Project      (1,179,752.36)
But then if I just clear the amounts, and do a refresh, I get the following:
         Net Income
         ITA (RD10078)
         Y-T-D(MAR)
    PRJG939306 (PRJG939306)
    PRJLG921508 (PRJLG921508)      (26.42)
    Project      (1,179,752.36)
And if I pivot Net Income, I get a message that "Any comments/ functions/ formulas on the sheet will be lost.", and the PRJG939306 member is lost.
              ITA (RD10078)
              Y-T-D(MAR)
    Net Income      PRJLG921508 (PRJLG921508)      (26.42)
    Net Income      Project      (1,179,752.36)
I can't figure out why it would start treating it as a comment. It looks to be a valid member name and I don't see anything strange if I look at the member properties in EAS. And what I really don't understand is why it would bring back the member name (with alias) and a data value when I change the alias table from "none" to "Short Descr", but not bring back a value when I just clear the amounts and do a Refresh. And why is it only doing it for some of the members and not all of them?
What could cause this type of behavior?

lets see if I can say this clearly. Smartview will noit convert from one alias to another. Before switching alias tables, try changing back to no alias and do a retrieve, then switch to the new alias table and retrieve. I think the problem is Smartview is not interpeting what is on the one line so it leave it blank as an unknown member.

  • Multiple joins Problem in Physical Layer.

I have two tables Departments and Employees in the physical layer of admin tool. When i am trying
to create foreign keys at physical diagram its giving error.
    Scenario:
    Departments
    ===========
    Department_id (PK)
    Manager_id (FK)
    Employees
    ========
    Employee_id (PK)
    Department_id (FK)
    Manager_id (FK)
    1. Manager_id of Departments table references Employee_id of Employees table
    2. Department_id of Employees table references Department_id of Departments table.
    3. Manager_id of Employees table references Employee_id of Employees table.
I have done 1st one. After 2nd one i have tested for consistency check, the following error is coming:
[38015] Physical tables "Oracle DB Connection".."HR"."EMPLOYEES" and "Oracle DB Connection".."HR"."DEPARTMENTS" have multiple joins.
Delete new foreign key object if it is a duplicate of existing foreign key.
    How to solve this?
How to do 3rd one also?
    Please clarify.

    Hi,
I have created two alias tables (E1 Employees, D1 Departments) for Employees, Departments tables.
I have created foreign key joins as follows:
    D1 Departments:
    EMPLOYEES.EMPLOYEE_ID = "D1 DEPARTMENTS".MANAGER_ID
    E1 Employees:
    EMPLOYEES.EMPLOYEE_ID = "E1 EMPLOYEES".MANAGER_ID
and it is consistent also. Please let me know whether the above approach is right or not.

  • Duplicate table  and  Alias table in the physical layer

    Hi,
I want a clear information regarding the duplicate tables in the physical layer of the rpd.
I mean what is the purpose of the duplicate tables in the physical layer.........
    thanks,
    chinna.

what do you mean by duplicate of physical table? is it Alias table?
    if then,
-> aliases are created to break the circular joins (which are not supported by obiee)
-> and, as per apps standards no operation can be done on base tables which are imported directly to physical layer. Only aliases are joined and will be used in BMM layer
-> useful to re-use the table more than one time , best example: W_DAY_D in apps rpd
