All audio devices funcitonal, but still no sound

•Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1
•Pavilion G6 Notebook PC
•Product number: A4G29AV
•IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
I cannot get certain types of audio output through either my headphones or my onboard speakers, even though all of my speakers are functioning correctly.
My headphones are connected through a USB device and my speakers are built into the laptop.
Things that will play are System Sounds, Audio Configuration Tests, and the occasional youtube video for a reason I cannot identify.
Beyond that, there is no sound output. However, I have confirmed that both my onboard speakers and my headphones are working correctly.
I have performed a reboot, am in the middle of a malware scan, and checked all of my volume controls to make sure nothing has been accidentally muted.
I still have yet to try uninstalling the driver and a system restore.
The only thing that changed on my PC before the problem occurred was connecting it to a TV via HDMI cable. In that instance, all audio was correctly rerouted to the TV speakers.
This laptop has honestly given me nothing but trouble since I got it, so any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Hello @ssuits,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I have read your post on how your notebook is not able to produce sound for most audio applications, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To re-enable the audio to your computer, I recommend removing the drivers in Programs and Features and the Device Manager. Once the old software is removed, please restart your computer. When the notebook has booted back into Windows, please download and install the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver.
If the issue continues, I also suggest returning your system back to a restore point when the audio output was working correctly. This can be done by following this document on Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7).
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!
