Allow outdated plugins to run

I recently jumped from FF v14.0.1 to the current one. I have most of the old settings back but I can't find any information about allowing outdated plugins to run automatically. I click on "Allow and Remember", and the browser remembers for that session only. I can close it out and go back to the exact same site and I'll be prompted again. However, I don't care about finding a solution for that problem - I would like to completely disable the feature altogether. Could someone please show me how I can permanently allow "any" outdated plugin to run automatically when called upon (particularly flash)? I have my own reasons why I need it and I understand the security ramifications of choosing this path.

generally speaking it is not a good idea but yes it is possible:
#type "About:config" into your url bar
#accept the warning
#find or search for "plugins.hide_infobar_for_outdated_plugin"
#set the value to True (double click)

How do I remove the dropdown asking me if I want to allow a plugin to run?

As of Firefox 26.0, there is now a dropdown that appears whenever a website with a plugin is loaded, if the plugin is set to "Ask to Activate" in the Add-ons>Plugins menu. This dropdown can be dismissed, but will always reappear when such a page is loaded.
As useful as this is, I am already happy with the previous solution of having a plug-in icon appearing in the Address Bar (which is still available, making the dropdown redundant), so I don't really need an additional dialog appearing while I'm browsing. Is there any way to remove the dropdown?

Disable outdated plugin warning

I have version 26.0.
I want to disable the warning: "Firefox has prevented the outdated plugin "Adobe Flash" from running on..."
1- I went to about:config
2- changed the value to "true" for "plugins.hide infobar for outdated plugins"
But continue to get this warning. I want to disable this warning. Please let me know how. Thank you!!

hello cin993, there is no preference that can control this behaviour individually. you can only disable it together with the protection from malicious addons and crashy graphics drivers: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Extensions.blocklist.enabled

Sometimes a plugin-container.exe instance starts hogging a ton of memory -- I would like to know which plugin is running inside that plugin-container without having to one-by-one disable the plugins. Which process called plugin-container.exe?

As described above, I have several instances of plugin-container.exe running, which is OK. It would make me feel safer to know which plugins are running inside each of these, since I would be better able to know whether there is malware running inside one of them, or which website might have made the process start hogging memory.
I am a power user, I usually have 80-100 tabs open, and of course it is hard to track the website or plugin down without having to waste a lot of time.
Could you provide in future releases this information?
Is it already available under one of the about: pages (e.g. config, plugins, memory, etc?)

Maybe I was not clear. I usually have 4-5 plugin-container.exe processes running. I know now that the large one that hogs is the Adobe Flash player, but, for example I don't know which plug-in initiated the other plugin-container.exe instances.<br><br>
One of them actually says "googletalkplugin.exe" if you dig deep, which is OK. At least I know why the plugin-container.exe was started. But there are other instances that are just there and there is no way to figure out which plug-in initiated it.<br><br>
This would of course also help figure out if it is really the Adobe Flash plug in that is hogging all the memory, OR even if within Firefox in the about: pages one could figure out which TABS are using which plug-ins.
Like that you could freely choose to terminate the process directly, or close the TAB.<br><br>
1) What I am looking for is a way to determine which plug-in is running under which instance of plugin-container.exe<br>
2) Additionally it would be great to have a summary of which TABS are using which plugins (e.g. in the about:plugins page or yet another about: page)

Two Adobe Acrobat Plugins In Firefox ... Want to Remove Outdated Plugin

Creative Cloud Customer with all Adobe software current
Windows 8 Pro 64 bit
Adobe Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.2
Firefox 19.0.1
In looking at my Plugins, I notice that I have two Adobe Acrobat, one 11.0.0.379 and the other 11.0.2.0. The last one seems to match my Adobe Acrobat Pro version number. I assume the 11.0.0.379 is outdated?
If I am correct in my assumption, how do I remove the the outdated plugin? Please be precise and detailed as I am still learning Windows 8. In the picture below, I have circled the plugin that I want to remove.

Okay, well I just an interesting experience.
Here's what happened:
Deleted oldest program without remembering to deactivate first.
After I uninstalled, I noticed that the program listings in the Control Panel were blank. That is, both the old and new versions were gone.
In Firefox, the first entry of Adobe Acrobat 11.0.2.0 was gone, but the other listing of Adobe Acrobat 11.0.0.379 remained
Thinking that I erred in not deactivating first, I used Adobe's Chat to reset my counter. The nice man asked me for my email and then my order number for Creative Cloud. After I logged into my Adobe account to retrieve the information, he promptly told me that he couldn't help me and that I needed to call back on Monday using a 1-800 number. I am puzzled why we bothered with the dance of email addresses and order numbers.
Throwing caution to the wind, I decided to try to install Adobe Acrobat from my Creative Cloud account. The worst that happen is that it will fail to load.
I successfully loaded Adobe Acrobat without difficulty. When I viewed the installed programs in the Control Panel, I saw that I had an outdated versions. See picture below.
Intuitively, I would have expected programs downloaded from the cloud to be current. So I went Help | Check for Updates
I installed the updates. See picture below for Control Panel shot.
Now, going back to Firefox, I am exactly at the starting point.
In summary, the "older" version appears to stay regardless of whether Adobe Acrobat is installed or not. Perhaps it is attached to Adobe Reader XI. Or, perhaps, it's just there. Installing Adobe Acrobat XI Pro seems to add two programs to the list in the Control Panel. And it seems to have two Adobe Acrobat plugins in Firefox.
I will call Adobe on Monday with regard to the Deactivate Issue. I have a hunch that it isn't not an issue. They might be able to tell that I uninstalled and reinstalled on the same computer.

Multiple instances of "plugin container" running

I have consistently had up to five instances of plugin container running in the background...
* Windows Vista 32 bit build Ver 6.0 SP 2
* Firefox 4.0x
So far nothing can be attributed to web browsing behavior.

There is a known issue where multiple instances of plugin container open if history or cookies are cleared. Are you, or some utility clearing firefox cookies or history, that could be the reason. This problem continues even if plugins are disabled in Firefox.
*Are you opening multiple instances of Flash Player ?
* Is the problem reproducible ? <br/> for instance does it always crash the plugin or cause it to hang if you use a particular site ?
If you get the FlashPlayer plugin crashing use the option to submit the crash reports, it is then possible to follow them up. It is possible to stop the plugincontainer opening, but that could result in a firefox crash. Of course the firefox crash can also send crash reports out, and that could be useful.

There are some problems with FlashPlayer currently under investigation, and there may be other threads in the forum about problems. (e.g. Bug 561019 - Plugin waveOutOpen hangs )
Sometimes using Firefox 3.6 is a workaround that helps with FlashPlayer problems, if you wish to experiment with that consider installing firefox Portable and using Firefox 3.6.23 (or soon 3.6.24) for tests with flash player, whilst keeping firefox 7 for day to day browsing.

I seem to have an issue with setting the allow active content to run files on my computer in internet explorer. Each time I turn it on reboot the computer the setting is turned off.
This computer is on a domain, but there are no domain policies for internet explorer.

Try to re-install the Internet Explorer in the way below:
1.Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
2.Enter Windows features in the search box, tap or click Settings, and then tap or click Turn Windows features on or off.
3.In the Windows Features dialog box, clear the Internet Explorer check box.

Did you use the standard Red Giant installer for the latest versions? Previous versions of the Trapcode suite may not be compatible but the latest ones are.

It does not matter what I do, I cannot get Java security settings to allow an applet to run.

I have gone to just about every extreme possible, and no matter what I do, I cannot get Java to allow an applet to run. I have been trying to do a J-Track on some satellites on the NASA/JPL website, and no matter what I do, and from the totally useless "help" sites here in the Firefox "help" pages, I cannot get the &^%$#@ applet to run.

System Administator won't allow this program to run on Windows Vista

After downloading my upgrade to iTunes 9, a window pops up and says that the system adminitrator will not allow this program to run. The only option on the window was to press "okay". After pressing "okay", all the installation windows closed and I still have my old version of iTunes. Are there security settings on my computer that need to be changed? Apparently I need iTunes 9 in order to download a particular album I was trying to purchase.

First you need to set the VI to Run When Opened (VI Properties>Execution). Then you create a front panel Boolean. On the diagram what you need to do is have some sort of idle state where nothing is done until the Boolean is pressed. It could be a separate while loop that doesn't exit until the Boolean is pressed, an Event Structure, or as part of a state machine. Look at the shippings examples Queued Message Handler, New Event Handler, Using Buttons for Options to name just a few.

Allow activeX controls to run

I have tried changing my settings in IE to allow ActiveX controls to run without prompting. I opened tools, internet options, changed internet zone to medium. I went to security tab and enabled button next to "Allow previously unused ActiveX controls to run without prompt". Nothing seems to work. When I close and reopen the browser the prompt is still there.
Is there somethning else I need to do?
