Alter different users table, i need to add constraint: primary key

Hi All,
my oracle database : 10G
I have a user named rahul and its trying to alter a table of a different user 'biapps_12'
here is the alter table script that I am firing using user 'rahul' when connected to database 'MDMINT5' : alter table BIAPPS_12.W_PAYMENT_METHOD_D_O add constraint pk_W_PAYMENT_METHOD_D_O PRIMARY KEY (INTEGRATION_ID);
Oracle error: [ORA-01031: insufficient privileges]
PS: both these users are on the same database 'MDMINT5'
2) I have an exclusive privilege which is [alter any table] but still I am getting this error.
Please help me out.
Regards
Rahul

If the user RAHUL genuinely has ALTER ANY TABLE then that user should be able to run the command you posted.
Unless the privilege was granted through a role and the statement is being run as part of a PL/SQL block (through EXECUTE IMMEDIATE or similar contrivance). Anonymous blocks count as PL/SQL, and we cannot use privileges granted through roles in PL/SQL.
Cheers, APC

All the key fields of a table must be stored together at the beginning of the table. A non-key field may not occur between two key fields.
A maximum of 16 key fields per table is permitted. The maximum length of the table key is 255.
If the key length is greater than 120, there are restrictions when transporting table entries. The key can only be specified up to a maximum of 120 places in a transport. If the key is larger than 120, table entries must be transported generically.

  • How can I replicate a source table that doesn't have any primary keys?

We have transactional replication setup in our workplace.
In the source database, there are some tables that do not have any primary key.
    1) How can I get these tables to replicate in the current scenario?
    2) Is it possible to introduce foreign elements in a replicated instance of the database?
Example, additional records in a table that don't exist in the source or additional tables in the database?

    1) You need to add a primary key to this table. There must be a criteria that the app uses to identify which row it wants to up date or delete. If not you might be able to add an identity column to the table and then add a primary key to it. If this is not
possible you might want to use snapshot replication or CDC to do change tracking and then something like SSIS or service broker to move the change to the destination server.
    2) yes, but be careful. They should not modify the schema or the data of tables which are being replicated.

If you are looking for an example to create a composite primary key, here you are.
    sql> Alter Table myTable add constraint pk_myTable primary key(col1, col2, ...coln) ;
    where
pk_myTable is the name of the primary key constraint,
myTable is the name of the table that you want to create a constraint on and
col1...coln are the column names in the table <myTable)

  • Add a primary key to table.

    Hello everybody,
I want to add a primary key to a table but it doesn't work.
    select count(*), count(id) from tableA;
    COUNT(*) COUNT(ID)
    830447 830447
You see: The number of ids is equal to the number of rows. The ID is not marked as unique but it should be unique. I try to set id as the primary key:
    alter table tableA add constraint "pk_constraint" PRIMARY KEY (id);
But I a get an error message: ORA-02437: cannot validate (pk_constraint) - primary key violated.
    What is the problem?
    I use Oracle 11g.

  • The column in the table do not match an existing primary key

    I've got two tables tbl_Workshop and tbl_Material
tbl_Workshop has columns workshopID, workshopTitle, materialID
    tbl_Material has materialID, name, workshopTitle
when I'm trying to create a relationship between the workshopTitle of tbl1 and tbl2, it gives me an error that says the column in the table do not match an existing primary key.
What could be the reason for this error and how to overcome it.
ps. The datatypes and names of both the table's column match.

Have you created primary key on workshopTitle column in tbl_Workshop
You can add foreign key relationship from tbl_Material.workshopTitle
    to tbl_Workshop.workshopTitle
only if latter is a primary key of the table.

  • Can EJB 3.0 beans be used with tables that do not have a primary key?

Can a EJB 3.0 persistence bean be used with tables that do not have a primary key defined? I am building a test application based on the HowTo - Building EJB 3.0 Faces App paper posted after Openworld (schalk). The issue I am running into when trying to run the application is: Exception Description: Entity class [class com.persistence.Rpthead] has no primary key specified. Note: I get a simular error when using toplink directly.
The tables I am binding to do not have primary keys defined. They use unique constraints to manage the table integrity.
Is it possible to use EJB 3.0 on tables without a primary key? If not, are there plans to support this in the future?

The spec requires a primary key Id annotation. I will take your suggestion to EJB 3.0 expert group.
Can you also send an email to [email protected] with your requirement?

  • How to create entity for the table which is not having the primary key

    Hi,
Is it possible to create an entity for the table which is not having the primary key.
I have to write a method in my session bean and that method must use this entity.
    any websites for this.

If you are talking about processes launched from a JVM (running outside), Process is available.
If you are talking about processes already running outside of a JVM, you could roll-your-own class to provide similar functionality as Process. This approach would be platform dependent, backed by the platform's I/O scripting and therefore limited to what the platform supports for process manipulation, e.g. Linux/Unix capabilities far exceed Windows.

    Hi,
I am new to oim 11gR2.  I have a requirement , to add the employee number field in the user search box. I do not want to use the Add Fields button to add the employee number search field.
When any user goes to the search page, they must find the employee number field in the search box in addition to the other default fields like lastname, firstname, etc.  Is it achievable? Thanks in advance.
If possible.... can you please provide the steps to achieve it?.. thanks

    Karthik Perath
Thanks for the answer....... but I guess you misread the question.  I am able to add new fields as columns to the search results table.  My problem is I want to add the searchable field to the query form.  Also, I do not want to use the Add Fields button (because that is a part of Saved Search which is Personalization and limited only to the creator) , I want the newly added searchable field. for example Employee Number ( which is not there by default)  to be made available to all the end users of Identity Self Service system..... Hope you got the problem...

  • Passing data to different internal tables with different columns from a comma delimited file

    Hi,
I have a program wherein we upload a comma delimited file and based on the region( we have drop down in the selection screen to pick the region).  Based on the region, the data from the file is passed to internal table. For region A, we have 10 columns and for region B we have 9 columns.
There is a split statement (split at comma) used to break the data into different columns.
I need to add hard error messages if the no. of columns in the uploaded file are incorrect. For example, if the uploaded file is of type region A, then the uploaded file should be split into 10 columns. If the file contains lesser or more columns thenan error message should be added. Similar is the case with region B.
I do not want to remove the existing split statement(existing code). Is there a way I can exactly pass the data into the internal table accurately? I have gone through some posts where in they have made use of the method cl_alv_table_create=>create_dynamic_table by passing the field catalog. But I cannot use this as I have two different internal tables to be populated based on the region. Appreciate help on this.
    Thanks,
    Pavan

    Hi Abhishek,
I have no issues with the rows. I have a file with format like a1,b1,c1,d1,e1, the file should be uploaded and split at comma. So far its fine. After this, if the file is related to region A say Asia, then it should have 5 fields( as an example). So, all the 5 values a1,b1..e1 will be passed to 5 fields of itab1.
I also have region B( say Europe)  whose file will have only 4 fields. So, file is of the form a2,b2,c2,d2. Again data is split at comma and passed to itab2.
If some one loads file related to Asia and the file has only 4 fields  then the data would be incorrect. Similar is the case when someone tries to load Europe file with 5 fields related data. To avoid this, I want to validate the data uploaded. For this, I want to count the no. of fields (seperated by comma). If no. of fields is 5 then the file is related to Asia or if no. of fields is 4 then it is Europe file.
Well, the no. of commas is nothing but no. of fields - 1. If the file is of the form a1,b1..e1 then I can say like if no. of commas = 4 then it is File Asia. But I am not sure how to write a code for this. Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Pavan

  • Execute process (shell script) under different user

    Hi,
is it possible to use the ProcessBuilder oder .exec()-method to execute a shell script under a JVM-different user? I need to start shell scripts for different system users and I don't want to use SUDO or a wrapper script to switch to the required user. I would like to define the user at java level. Is this possible?
    Best regards,
    Thomas

looking for something like this too.
currently i am relying on a script in which i have to set the user as:
    "su username -c java_program"
the problem with this approach is that if youre not running as root, then su asks for a password, thereby halting execution. (tried input redirects and here-docs, (some popular linux tricks), they did not work)
so you have to be root for the script option to work.
if anyone can suggest a more "java based" way of executing a process as a different user , thatll be awesome.
