Am I suposed to expect my Mac to be good for only two years?

I got my Mac less than 2 years ago and since around the 6th month, the plastic on both the internal right and left corners has been breaking apart.
I have been a good and careful user, but this still happened.
I heard that the magnet on the upper part could be the one causing the plastic to break open in the lower part...Has anyone heard of this? Is there any solution to this? I mean...How much would I need to pay to get it fixed? Any idea? I just think it's so unfair that such a great product simply...falls apart!

Some Apple products have been know to crack and create lines etc, so your problem is nothing new. You might want to try ringing Apple up and asking them.

  • It's the Mac book air good for graphic design and video editing ?

I'm into graphic design for clothing logos etc. and I'm a photographer my question is, is the Mac book air good for these things?

ideally a 15" would be best for same, as referring to the 15" macbook Pro.
For a photographer, which I used to be long ago, either the Air or Pro are close in form factor for travel with only one moving part, and SSD.
The retina display in combination with the 15" would be idea as best choice for photo editing and graphic design.

  • Which mac pc is good for iPad development in between mac mini or mac book pro

which mac pc is good for iPad development in between mac mini or mac book pro so give me details which is much more better for ios development

The best thing for iOS development is your imagination. Coming up with unique creative apps is what’s most important. I've had a mini since they first came out, and I think it's the best desktop around. However you may not want a desktop because you're more mobile when you work on apps. With the mini you can use a much bigger screen (I use a 80 inch) but the laptop has a slightly better processor (if you decide to pay extra for it). I'm learning app development also and a laptop would drive me crazy, but it's a personal choice, so you first need to decide where you are going to be while you're developing. If it’s at home or a office then the mini might be better. The mini and the macbook pro are both two incredible products. I don’t think you can make a wrong decision as far as which one handles app design better. They’re both great in that department.

  • Mac has been crashing for almost a year

    Hello, community!
I have a Macbook Pro 15" version 10.6.8, and I've had it for almost 2 years now. Given to me by my school (SAIC) in Chicago, it came preloaded with all of the Adobe programs and TimeMachine, too.
Starting last September or so, my laptop has been crashing randomly. Sometimes it crashes when I only have one window open (such as Skype, iTunes or Chrome, etc), and sometimes it crashes when I have a lot of things open. Or...Sometimes, after rebooting it from a crash, I'm just waiting for my desktop to load and it'll crash. No matter the content, it'll crash with the screen suddenly turning black, and if I have any audio playing, the aduio skips while the screen is black. The only way to get rid of it is to hit the power button and hold it until the sound stops and my computer makes the sound it does when it turns off.
I've been given an error message each time I reboot it, saying "your computer crashed unexpectedly" or something, and gives me this whoooole detailed report of things I can't understand. (I can offer this error message if anyone wants it).
I gave it to my school to fix, and they said that my fan was melted, they took it for about 4 weeks, giving it to Apple to fix and they gave it back to me saying that it should be fine. Of course, 3 hours of having it back, it crashed again with the exact same symptoms. I thought it was my 4gb RAM, so I upgraded to 8gb, but it still crashed after that. I've defragmented and repaired my disk permission, but nothing seems to work, still.
Anyone have any advice or any questions for me that'll help them help me figure out what's up?

    Backup your files.
Boot from the Snow Leopard DVD.
After the installer loads, select your language, then click on the Continue button.
When the menubar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select your startup volume (Macintosh HD) from the leftside list.
Click on the Partition tab in DU's main window.
Select One Partition from the Volume Scheme drop down menu.
Set the Format Type to Mac OS Extended, Journaled.
    Click on the Partition button.
When formatting is complete quit DU and return to the installer.
    Install Snow Leopard.

  • Which mac is really good for hdv working process and render??

I'll work my hdv native workflow soon and I'm really very interesting on how to get the most of Mac product,s but I'm still asking me what is the minimun of features do I need on a MAc to process without any disturb or overload and render my video in Blu ray for distribution and broadcasting purposes.

The MacBook Pro provides one key advantage not possible with the 12-inch PB -- the ability to create a second firewire bus using the ExpressCard/34 slot.
In this manner, you can separate fw drives from camera/deck -- a big issue with FCP5 and certain cameras and hard drives.
It is a key difference for anyone considering video editing.
You'll get a beefier video card, and the ability to preview.

  • Mac mini i5 good for aperture?

Is anybody using one of the new minis for aperture?
I currently have a 2.26 GHz C2D Mini (the last one with "cookie box" case) with 8GB RAM and a 7.2krpm HD and a 2.4 GHz MBP. Both run aperture3 o.k. but performance is not really snappy with 21 Megapixel RAWs. Would an upgrade to a new i5 mini be a real improvement? I recall something about aperture using the graphics card a lot for offloading and that with big Images you need a lot of VRAM. Are the 256 MB enough or do I need 512MB (which as far as I know is not possible in the mini). Unfortunately an iMac ist out of the question because I cannot stand glossy displays and I already have a 27" screen that ist better than the iMacs integrated screen.

I am using a Mac Mini to do all sorts of things in GB-2. I would recommend getting the 1.42Ghz model. I would also recommend the Firewire Solo as your input device. Because it is Firewire, it will not rob any of the valuable CPU resources.
Note also the the Mac Mini has a slow hard drive, but for two inputs, I doubt this will be a problem. Just be aware of it.

    Hello,
Your profile information is stored in a different location so your bookmarks and settings should still be intact.

  • My Mac air battery last for only 2 hours

    Hi all,
i have Mac Air 13 inch, with a processor 1.8GHz running OSX 10.8.2 and lately the batery last for a maximum of 2 hours and the internal fan is always working with lound sound

Why does question stay unanswered? This is a very bad practice from Apple.
apple has nothing to do with questions being answered or not, the people who answer questions on here are just other users like you who are not getting paid to be here

  • Is the mac book pro good for gaming?

Is it good for heavy minecraft work? And which core should I get?
    Thanks

Minecraft does not have heavy system requirements, so any of the current models will play minecraft just fine. Either the Core i5 or Core i7 will do for what Minecraft requires, so if you are only interested in Minecraft then I'd go for whatever fits your best price (the 15-inch will ultimately do better than the 13 inch because of the dedicated graphics card). If you are looking to extend beyond Minecraft and do heavy graphics processing in games or otherwise, then go for the Core i7 and higher quality dedicated graphics card.

  • Mac pro harddrive, good for audio production

I currently have this Western Digital WDC WD1001FALS-41K1B0.
Im really not happy with this drive, its slow and i get this slow disc message in logic all the time and its also very noise especially because it goes in to sleep mode all the time.
I want a better harddrive, can anyone recommend a good one?

    Caviar Black 1TB are well-liked.

  • Any way App Store (iPhone/Mac) can be LEGALLY set on two different countries?

I am Italian, I used to live in the US and I have a bank account both in Italy and the US, meaning I can easily switch App Store country just by updating my account info on the App Store. Having purchased my latest unlocked iPhone in the US, I've been set on the American store for almost two years now--it just offers more options--but my Italian apps (apps that are not available on the US store) won't update, and vice versa should I switch to Italy again. It's kind of a hassle because some apps just won't work if they're not updated, and I'm afraid there's a limit in the number of times I can switch country on the store.
Is there any way Apple helps bypass this "problem" by allowing users to set there account on multiple countries, or can I just make sure updates will download automatically even when I'm not set on the "right" country?
Hope my question is clear. I appreciate any useful pointers!

  • Using  the current version of photoshop CC with Mac OS 10.9 for the next 5 or so years on same mac?

I am intending to upgrade to photoshop CC from photoshop CS6, my concern is is my computer is 6 years old and probably I will not be able to upgrade to a later mac operating system as I have mac os 10.9, and I may not be able to upgrade to a future version of photoshop, will I be able to use the current version of photoshop CC with Mac OS 10.9 for the next 5 or so years on same mac?, I know I can do this with Photoshop CS6.

There's no reason why you can't do both.  You will always have CS6 to fall back on if the need should ever arise, the same as most of the regular posters here.  But you could enjoy CC for as long as it suited you, and it has some very features and more are coming all the time.
We've seen two nice updates to Photoshop CC in the eight months since the subscription model went live.  (Have I got that right?)  So we can expect three a year or more, and there were some killer new features in 14.2.  Heck, it would already break my heart if I had to go back to CS6.  In another four years...   It ain't gonna happen.

  • How to download  iwork for mac os x lion for free?

how to download  iwork for mac os x lion for free?

The iWork apps are not freeware, and they no longer have Trial Versions as they did before the appearance of the Mac App Store. But, they are so inexpensive that they really don't need trial versions, and they are much more sophisticated than what we would expect to get at no cost. Once you purchase an iWork app on one Mac device, you can download additional copies for your other computers at no additional charge.
