Am trying to transfer iTunes library to an external disk for back-up purposes. have followed normal protocol i.e. locating iTunes file in Music folder and dragging across to external disk icon. However, nothing seems to happen. Any advice please?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The external drive must be formatted in "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)", exFAT or FAT32, because OS X can't write in NTFS partitions by default.
As you just want the library on the external drive to make a backup of your library, you can format it in "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" by using Disk Utility > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html (Note that you won't be able to use the external drive with PCs unless you install a special application in them).
Finally, drag your iTunes folder to your external drive

Altho I checked "sync via mobil me", nothing ever happened. Tech support then advised unchecking that and syncing instead via computer/cable and iTunes
So, why not able to sync wirelessly with mobil me? Has anyone been able to?Thanks Mike.
Actually nothing seemed to be synced, altho I'm not sure whether I looked everywhere. In particular, no iTunes content was sent to the iPad, no Safari bookmarks, no Yahoo or Gmail contacts etc. Shouldn't some of this have been synced, or is it only content in Mobil Me, i.e my Apple Mail contacts etc? -

You can download the music from iCloud using the download arrows besides the songs - see the iTunes help:
Play or download songs from iCloud
You can play songs directly from iCloud, or you can download songs so you can play them when you’re not connected to the Internet.
If a song is available in iCloud, it has a Download button next to it.
To play the song, double-click it.
To download the song, click the Download button.
After you download a song to a computer, it remains in the computer’s iTunes library, even if you turn off iTunes Match.
To only display downloaded songs in your iTunes library, choose View > Hide Music in the Cloud. This also hides anyprevious iTunes Store purchases you haven’t downloaded. -

My mac mini only shows a steady power light and fan noise when powered up. No video or sound and no commumication with wired keyboard or optical mouse. Tried replacing internal battery and resetting PMU/SMC but nothing seemed to happen. Any suggestions? Many thanks! Richard
You've already done the two things I would have suggested.
If your Mini has an internal battery then I assume it's a G4. That means you've gotten a lot of good years of service from it, and it's old enough that it's certainly not covered by AppleCare anymore, and it's probably not worth spending money trying to repair it.
You should be able to tear it apart using instructions from ifixit.com to get the hard drive out, and then put the hard drive into a nice USB or FireWire enclosure (I like the ones from Other World Computing, macsales.com) so you can transfer your data to a replacement Mac.
I hope someone has another suggestion for you. -
While downloading the free trial for Final Cut Pro X my internet has dropped out many times. It does however seem to continue ok each time it reconnects. Will this affect the software when it finishes? Is this a problem? Any advice please?
This has happened to me with a few downloads without any upsets.
You should be OK.
As I recall the download is around 1.2 gig so it takes a bit of time and effort to get it to your system.

Question ?
Macbook Pro OSX 10.8 and Epson WF 7525 will no longer print.
It did until quite recently . However now I get filter failed and RastertoescpII and pages of items when i try to print .
Print head test sheets/head cleaning etc ok .
Have tried to to uninstall and reinstall but nothing.
Any advice, please?.

The printer deos not show up on Epsons site but i think I have the software from Apple.

It is possible that the files are read only or you do not have permission to delete for the music folder in Windows.
If you go into Get Info for a track, will it let you edit? If not it is probably one of the above. -

Reinstall the app
Remove the app from your device and reinstall it. Remember that deleting an app also deletes its data.
Delete the app.
Press the Home button.
Go to the App Store and download the app again.
Wait for the app to download, then open it from the Home screen.

when I launch it nothing seems to happen, if I look in processes in task amanegr it seems to be running but nothing happens on the screen, after a few minutes I get a run tme error.
The window could be opening off screen.

Maybe you have a beta version of iOS6 in your Ipad. if is this, you have to put the ipad in recovery mode in itunes and then the update will start.
To put the ipad in recovery mode, you have to turn of the ipad. In your pc/mac Itunes has to be running, and plug the cord, but when you do that you have to press the home button until a message shows up in itunes!!
