Is it so difficult for Sun to sort search result and duke stars ?

In the years that I have been visiting these forums I have frequently (well every year at least) asked Sun to sort the search results by reverse date. In the last few months I have asked Sun to sort the new format of the results of "My Duke Stars". Is is so difficult to add a 'order by' clause to the SQL or am I missing something?

Duke Stars Not Working ?

Is Duke Stars not working for anyone else? I havn't been able to use them for almost 2 weeks. I get a server error page every time I try to click on a link to do something with Duke Stars (add them to a topic, remove them from a topic, reward someone who posted). I have tried using the forums feedback to get help from sun, but now its been almost 2 weeks and all I have heard back is an email saying "I will pass this message along". Strange that getting a hold of someone from Sun for forum issues is so inconvenient and unreliable. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Here is the message on the Server Error page that I am getting:

What matters isn't if we care, but how we act in spite of it and to what degree we actively pursue them ... or anything else for that matter - does it cause us to loose site of more important things? ... do we loose focus on the main thing ... helping others and trying to learn ourselves?

Really Difficult iCal Bug (iCal now unusable)

I have an iCal problem that has made my calendar unusable. A little while ago I dragged an email onto the REMINDERS icon in my Dock (not the iCal icon, although we all know how the expanding icons can make precision difficult) to see if I could link an email to a reminder. Apparently it went into iCal instead, and the email text is now displayed as an open window. The open window makes iCal inoperable, but I can not close the window.
I have tried the following, all multiple times:
Turn off iCal syncing in System Preferences.
Force Quit iCal.
Shut off and restart.
Clicking on the window, Command W, etc.
Turning iCal syncing back on.
None of these have worked.

I assume that it has something to do with a 1900 vs. 2000 preference. I was setting the date and time on a device earlier this week and one of the choices was something to the effect of: "Use 20_ _ for any year ending before 32." I just looked but did not see any such setting for iCal or in the System Prefs but I might of overlooked it.

Calendar is now unusable on the iPhone

I used to use iCal on the iPhone and it was great, the only view I used most of the time
was list view where it listed all the up and coming events on one screen for each and every day.
All I had to do was scroll. Perfect!.
In the new Calendar this option has been removed and replaced with the day view.
The day view is for me with average eyesight unusable. I don't need glasses to drive.
All the events are viewed through a "letterbox" view that takes up less than half the iPhone screen.
In this letterbox view the lettering is much too small to read, even after selecting all the enhancements possible in the phones preferences in order to make the text bigger and bolder.
So I now have only two views in the Calendar.
1. Teeny tiny letterbox view (Today)
or
2. A utterly pointless view of say November where it shows me no information whatsoever except the days
of the month with little dots under them?.
What on earth is going on here?
On a tiny screen like the iPhones the old iCal made a very good go indeed at showing relevant information regarding my working week.
On the iPhones screen now using Calendar I am now finding that I don't want to use it because it's too much hassle, too small text and everything shown through a tiny letterbox view with the text too small, did I mention that?.
I'm now looking for alternatives which is such a pity because I greatly respected apple design for apps.
After my little complaint about Calendar all I really want is to be told how to get back my list view or to be told of an alternative.

Try a few things:
First, try double tapping the home button. You should see a row of apps at the bottom; these are your recenty opened apps. Hold your finger down on any of the icons until they start to shake, and a red minus() appears. Tap the red minus for each app. This will close the app, not delete it. If you have too many apps open, this can cause crashes.
If it still crashes, try the basic troubleshooting steps here:

Horrible colors in CS3..Photoshop now unusable :-/

Approx. a month or so ago colors started seriously screwing up in CS3. Here are some images of the problem:

My vid. card is Nvidia GForce 8900 GT..with the latest drivers.
I've tried opening images with the different settings on the Adobe Profile Mismatch dialogue box as well as changing the settings around in Preferences/Color Settings.
My second monitor is a 12Wx Cintiq and although the images don't look as garish (because it's a better monitor) the colors are still whacky...electric blues, greens and purples.
I've also tried deleting Adobe preferences file and uninstalling and reinstalling CS3.
I haven't tried uninstalling Huey monitor calibration.because it was installed about 6 mo. before this problem started.
Does anyone have any clues as to the problem? Because of this problem Photoshop is now unusable. I was thiking about upgrading to CS4 but that's out because the trial version of CS4 has the same problem :-/

pfigen... Sorry..not sure what you mean by untagged RGB images etc? To make sure the problem wasn't something to do with my digi camera I also captured 2 images as screenshots from Flickr. It's the same problem with everything bought in to photoshop...screenshots, images from another camera, from the web, and my camera...everything in PS looks baaad (except when I change the setting to Cintiq display). <Photoshop will assume that your untagged RGB image is in whatever the current RGB workspace is. If your images are in fact in the same color space as your working space even though they're untagged, they will look fine.> I used to cut and paste images from the internet or other applications without any problems for years in various versions of PS...so it's odd that the problem started a few weeks ago. <Can you post a screen shot of your current color settings, including color management and profile policies, as well as your make a model of monitor, as well as what your calibration settings are. My MacBook Air will not turn on. I get a white screen with the apple logo and a spinning star (search icon). It will spin for hours and never go away unless I power off.

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
To restart an unresponsive computer, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the power shuts off, then release, wait a few more seconds, and press it again briefly.
Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.” The article refers to starting up from a DVD, but the procedure in Recovery mode is the same. You don't need a DVD if you're running OS X 10.7 or later.
b. If Step 1a fails because of disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to salvage some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external drive with OS X installed, start up from it. Otherwise, if you have Internet access, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external drive and install OS X on it. You'll use the Recovery installer, rather than downloading it from the App Store.
c. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. You might be able to start up in safe mode even though you can't start up normally. Otherwise, start up from an external drive, or else use the technique in Step 1b, 1c, or 1d to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
Step 4
If a desktop Mac hangs at a plain gray screen with a movable cursor, the keyboard may not be recognized. Press and hold the button on the side of an Apple wireless keyboard to make it discoverable. If need be, replace or recharge the batteries. If you're using a USB keyboard connected to a hub, connect it to a built-in port.
Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 11. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
Step 9
If the startup device is an aftermarket SSD, it may need a firmware update and/or a forced "garbage collection." Instructions for doing this with a Crucial-branded SSD were posted here. Some of those instructions may apply to other brands of SSD, but you should check with the vendor's tech support.
Step 10
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
Step 11
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
Step 12
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
Step 13
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

When a user starts a new thread, he has the option to offer up to 10 Duke Stars to respondents. Forums users earn Duke Stars for their own account by responding to threads that offer Duke Stars as rewards. The thread author determines which response merits the reward, and has full discretion over which respondent is awarded the Duke Stars. The thread author can split the Duke Stars amongst the posters whose answers he found most helpful, but cannot award himself.

Hello everyone, i've just got an urgent notice to complete my proj in 3 days time due to unforeseen issues.
i'm pretty much rushing my report out, so i wonder if any1 could really code something out for me if u're free or wanted to help me =( . I think i will get scolded in this thread, i know it's quite unappropriate for me to create this thread but i really need to rush the graphics out in 3 days time. i would not mind giving u a 1000 duke stars as my token of appreciation.
Basically, i have this graphics panel within my whole panel which has a forklift which will transport an item to a location. The item,forklift and location(which are shelves) are at 3 different positions initially. The idea is that i have 5 forklift, and when i choose 1 of them to transport the item to the shelves, it will transport the item and return to its original position after i press the proceed button. The forklift should get the item to transport and the location to be transported to from the microsoft sql server database. i am using JCreator to do this. I have done the neccesary GUI to insert the info into the tables etc(just lacking the graphics). Someone plz help me with this. Thx alot! If you are willing to do your own work but simply have some guidance here then great. If not you should visit another site. Perhaps rent-a-coder.
If you are willing to do your own work then my first question to you would be, what are you doing. What are you looking to solve exactly? Do you just want to create a bunch of image files? Or are you trying to do custom painting of a component here?
