Animated Gif - States All Affected At Once

I normally use Fireworks to make animated gifs, but recently (not sure what happened) all of my states have decided to combine or group together and I can no longer edit each state individually. If I move anything (symbols, layers, etc), then all states are affected by it. I noticed that when I have anything selected in one state, then all of the circles to the right of the delay time in the state menu are filled in at once. I'm sure this is a simple fix, but I can't seem to figure it out. Help?

I should add the following.
To try again I create a new document and simply import the animated gif.  It's 38 states long. Before adding any other elements I enable "Show all states" and move the element downwards on the page. It moves. No problem. The loop plays in the new position.
But, I don't really know where I want to position the gif until I add the other elements.
So I disable "show all states", select State 1, select Layer 1 in Layers, and add the text and a png to layer 1. As expected, these additions appear only on state 1.
I then enable "Show all states" ("multi-state editing is still enabled"), select the layer for the animated gif, and again click on the animated gif and move it. This time I see the ghost image of a later frame below and behind it.  When I play the loop the new position occurs only on frame 1 - otherwise, it's in the lower position in all other states.
Is this is a bug in Fireworks CS6? I can move an object "globally" when no other objects are on the page but once I add some to state 1, moving an object in all states at once doesn't work.
During one iterration of this test the move occured in all frames but number 24! (what!?) Seriously, basically the same steps, I don't recall ever even going to state 24. But when I played the animation everything was in proper position except for 24.

  • How To Resize Animated GIF's All At Once?

    I have seen people say you can resize an animated GIF in
    Fireworks without doing it one frame at a time, but nobody says
    exactly how. Maybe I'm missing something simple, but is this
    possibe and if so, how do you do it?
    I tried using the forum search but it didn't find any
    results.
    I'm using Fireworks 9.0.1.1213 if that makes a
    difference.

    If you look in the frames window, you will see that each
    frame has a gray
    box on the left. Click that gray box by the first frame and
    the last frame
    to turn on onion skinning. You'll know if it worked because
    there will be
    two little icons, one pointing up and the other pointing
    down, with a line
    connecting them through all the onion skinned frames.

  • I am trying to stop my animated gif from looping but the 'once' function won't work

    HI,
    I have created a small animation for a web banner and I have selected it to only play once, but the export plays continuously. IS there another way of making sure it only plays once? I have got it ticked in the 'Save for Web' dialog box to only play once as well.
    Thanks! Jen

    I had this same problem. I was exporting around 10 gif banners for a campaign, but the glitch only affected a few.
    I wish I had a more airtight solution, but I eventually fixed the problem for each of the effected banners by "jiggling the keys" a bit- that is to say restarting Ps, deleting the animation and starting again, and even deleting the entire PSD and starting from scratch. Was a real nuisance and set me back a good couple hours, but still got those gifs to stop looping.
    Using Mac and Adobe CC.

  • How to only edit one state when creating an animated .gif?

    I created my first anaimated .gif image the other day. Now when I try to create a new one everytime I duplicate state and try to edit just the duplicated state all states are updated.  I only click on one state then as soon as I do something it updates all of them! How do I turn this off?  It's driving me nuts I've been messing with it for over 2 hours!  Ahhh.... thanks!

    Hi,
    what's your Fireworks version? You should be able to edit and modify any state in an animated gif without all the States to modify.
    Now all depends on what you have in your States. For example, if you have symbol 1 in State 1, you duplicate your State and get symbol 1 in State 2. When you modify symbol 1 all the symbols 1 will be modified at the same time.

  • Animated GIF transparency in Muse

    I am using Adobe Muse CC 2014 and am interested in placing either a transparent animated .GIF image or an Adobe Edge Animate CC 2104 transparent .OAM image on top of
    an image in the <body> section. Placing the Adobe Edge Animate .oam image results in a NON-TRANSPARENT background, even though the same background when
    creating/saving/viewing the .html image in Adobe Edge Animate  displays as transparent.
    I created an animation with a transparent background in both Adobe Photoshop CC 2104 and Fireworks CS6, saving the file as an animated .gif. In both applications, the
    background is again, transparent. Placing either of those animated .gif images on top of a <body> background image (.jpg) results in a white stroke/outline around the
    non-transparent part of the animated .gif.
    All help would be greatly appreciated for enabling either an Adobe Edge Animate .oam image with a transparent background, or an animated .gif file with a transparent
    background to be placed on top of a <body> image in Adobe Muse WITHOUT a stroke/outline of any color. Either the steps to make this happen OR a temporary
    workaround would be terrific!
    NOTE: The stroke of the image has been set to NONE in Adobe Muse to remove this option as a variable.
    Thanks,
    Prefix

    I appreciate your reply. The problem, in this case, did not lie with Photoshop or Fireworks - both of which were used in the creation of the animated images. In both
    applications, adding a darker background (just for testing purposes) shows no white outline. As it turned out, the problem was due to the nature of saving (in this case)
    a .gif from either a .png file (native to Fireworks), or from a .psd file (Photoshop, of course). The .gif supports transparency, but only at greater than 50%. Anything at 50% or
    less (as would occur with anti-aliasing or feathering, for example) will resolve to white. Since there was feathering (and anti-aliasing) for both the transparent characters
    as well as the outer edge of the sphere, saving the file as an animated .gif caused the white outline to appear.
    The GOOD news is that there is a solution to the problem. I created a file with the animated images 3X larger than the final size. When the image was reduced
    in Adobe Muse to the desired size, the white outlines disappeared, leaving me with what I intended as an image from the beginning.
    Thanks all who replied and ultimately helped to determine first the cause of the white outlines, and then a way to "fix" the problem.
    All of your help is greatly appreciated.

  • Animated GIF in PDF output

    Hi all,
    is it possible to hand an animated GIF to the PDF output (remaining animated)?
    FM10 and AcrobatX work together rather fine concerning other animation formats such as SWF or AVI. I am not sure however wether the PDF format supports animated GIFs at all.

    As a side, I've never ever got an embedded avi to covert to pdf.  I do it all in the pdf.

  • Animated gif plays only once

    I am using Captivate 5.5 on a Windows machine. I inserted an animated gif into my Captivate, using insert > animation...  Then, I inserted a button. When I pressed F4 to preview the animation, it played only once. I put a check mark on the loop on the timing of the properties of the animation. Still, it played only once. It stopped when the play head stoped moving. I cannot make the animated gif play continuously. Does anybody know how to make the animated gif play continuously?
    thaks.

    You can try this:
    Stick this in the header area of your code
    <script type="text/javascript"> function showBuyLink() {
    document.getElementById("buylink").style.visibility = "visible";
    } // adjust this as needed, 1 sec = 1000
    setTimeout("showBuyLink()", 5000);
    </script>
    Stick this around your buy link code.
    <div id="buylink" style="visibility: hidden"> <!-- put all your add to cart buy links and images inside this hidden div --> <p style="text-align:center; font-size:26px;"> <a href="http://mybuylink">Add to Cart or Buy Link</a> </p> </div>
    Yopu can rename "buylink", but you have to make sure you rename all instances or it will kill the script.
    If you're not comfortable incorporating that, unfortunately, the other option would be to create a Flash animation and put a button in the last frame.
    That would be just as difficult (if not worse) as writing (or tweaking) a javascript to delay the hotspot, and even worse because it would be invisible to phone users. Additionally, people who disable javascript would never see the link if you did add the script.
    There isn't any way to do this with HTML or CSS, and you now know the flaws with the methods that will work.

  • How do i move all layers at once in my GIF

    hi, I have recently switched to adobe fireworks, and its
    really confusing to me. I was wondering how to move all layers at
    one time in my animated GIF. I like moving each frame individually
    and it is taking a LONG long long time! In image ready, it was a
    lot easier for me, in this I cannot seem to figure it out.
    Also how do i move all layers at once onto another image?
    Thanks

    after calling this
    JComboBox CB = new JComboBox();
    CB.addItem("Jan");
    CB.addItem("Feb");
    CB.removeAllItems();
    do this
    CB=null;
    now when u want to add again
    do this
    CB=new JComboBox();
    CB.addItem("bla bla ..");

  • Animated Gif's - Applying Clone Stamp to all layers

    I have some animated gif's and I want to clone a
    section of all layers that compose it. I have PS2 and PS4. PS2 allows me to open and sample all layers of the GIF but wont let me apply the clone to more than one layer at a time, PS4 wont let me open anymore than the first layer. Is there a solution for this. If not is there anything in Image Ready or Fireworks that will?

    Window --> Animation, frame mode. Select all frames and while selected, do the cloning or whatever.

  • Animated GIF Doesn't Work At All

    I am a Web developer. My client has provided us with an animated GIF image for their landing page. This GIF runs fine on every browser except Safari. On Safari, the GIF never animates; it just stays on the opening frame and looks stupid.
    This happens on all Macs running OS X and Safari 2.x as well as Beta 3.
    I search here and on the Internet and find nobody reporting this issue, but it sure feels like a Safari-specific problem.

    Aha! Nice catch. I saw that extension anomaly, too, Kirk, but since the page code doesn't allow one to easily view what's going on behind the scenes, I wondered if the JPEG might be behind or in front of the actual animated GIF and didn't look further. But downloading the "JPEG" and loading it in Safari 3 shows that it is, indeed, the animated GIF... with the incorrect extension.
    Yes, I would think being labeled a JPEG is the problem. Safari 2 is probably being stubborn and assuming that since it is supposed to be a JPEG, it can't animate.
    (A page with so little actual HTML or text has to be terribly inaccessible and is probably a problem in terms of search engine optimization as well. Just guesses since I don't work in SEO myself, but worth considering.)

  • Animated GIF won't animate or not even show at all

    I have been using animated GIF with no problem so far but now with iWeb 08 sometimes it works with certain GIFs documents or sometimes won't with other GIFs documents. Why ? And what can I do about this ? What is the solution ?

    Well Bababooey if you're comparing yourself to a Apple Genius Bar then you should already know my answer, your snarky remark get a snarky reply.  Why would I go to a salesperson to fix my computer problem when I can go directly go to the source itself.  I used to sell Apple computers over 8 years ago and was apple certified before the Genius bar existed. If I am to go about fixing an issue I can't fix on my own I will go to the source itself meaning Apple's programmers and developers - being UI UX Developer myself I know they should have QA'd all platforms and troubleshooted any arising issues.
    This was also the first time in the 20 years I've been using a Mac that I even attempted to go on this forum which i thought would put me in connection with a certified Apple representative.  This turned out to be a complete waste of time just being a public forum with no Apple employee involved.  I was hoping to find a quick fix but in turn I was only frustrated with stupid responses such as yours that were in no way an answer to my original question.
    BTW I fixed the issue on my own and without your help or Apples help. I'm glad if all forums point here regarding this issue because I now have the answer. The answer I was looking for from someone earlier was as simple as this {Download Maverick and reinstall the platform - it will take an hour to do but afterward 10.9.2 was installed and my computer is now able to shutdown and restart without having to do a hard boot.}  No more software update bar at top and no problems with my drive which I told both you and Grant - I know my computer better than you and I've probably been using them longer than you.
    So again Babowa you were so wrong...... and I am right.
    Again anyone having the same problem, I suggest reinstalling Maverick and you'll be suprised 10.9.2 will work fine.

  • Is it possible to create an animated gif with a different hotspot/link on each state?

    Hi! I was unable to find the answer to my question by searching, so sorry if this has been discussed already.
    I'm trying to make an animated gif that's basically a little slideshow with a different link on each slide (or state, as Fireworks calls them). But it only seems to let me use one hotspot for the whole thing, even if I insert in the layer instead of in the state. I tried using slices instead of hotspots, and it does the same thing.
    Is it possible?

    Ok, thanks! I have another way to do what I'm trying to do, I just thought it might be better to do it this way. Obviously I was wrong!
    Thanks again!

  • Why would some animated gifs loop some not? (all do on other browsers)

    Hello. I have 2 different animated gifs on the site I'm building with Weebly. One of them is a loop which works just fine. The other gif is made to just happen once. However, it will not replay when its page is refreshed or revisited (it does replay on other browsers). So I'm wondering what can be done to fix this. The page is http://www.backeze.com/about-us--contact.html

    Yes, its there. Also, when I right click on the image and select VIEW IMAGE INFO it will replay. thx

  • Animation Question: Changing all keyframe instances in a single layer all at once?

    I am working on an animated piece in Adobe Flash. I have a
    single 'head comp' layer that contains head, eyes, mouth, etc.
    layers within. I have created several keyframes in this layer to
    animate the entire head comp. Furthermore, I have several keyframes
    within that comp for lip sync, eye movements, etc.
    My problem is, I have to manually change every single
    keyframe in the head comp layer to sync up with the animation
    contained within. For example, if I have a keyframe on the main
    head comp layer-- on frame 5-- I have to manually select frame 5,
    go to Properties panel, change to "Play Once," and then type in the
    frame number in the "First" field. I then have to repeat this
    process several hundred times across the entire layer. There must
    be a faster to to sync up the whole layer. Please help!!!

    Thanks again for your help.
    I think my problem here is, I'm not trying to move any frames
    or anything. I just want to change the properties panel of each
    keyframe in the layer to "Play Once" and have the number in the
    "First" field match it's frame number (example: I want to change
    the "First" field to "10" if the keyframe starts on frame 10. That
    way it will match up with my lip sync animation on frame 10 of the
    nested layer within.) Does that make sense? I have been having to
    change each keyframe number in the layer manually. It takes
    forever.
    The "Play Once/Loop/Single Frame" option isnt available if I
    dont create a motion tween. Again, I'm not trying to move my
    animation-- just change all of the Properties at once.
    Also- if this helps- I am working in CS3.

  • An animated gif that plays on all devices

    Hello again on gifs...
    I am in PS CS4 on XP.
    I created an animated gif. I was wondering if there was some way to make it work on all devices. Phones, MP3 players, computers (both mac & pc)...etc..
    It looks great on my computer at work and at home, but not on my iPod. It does not play or show on my iPod. My boss checked on her computer said you have to click on the image for it to play (but I don't have to do that). It did not work on her BlackBerry either.
    Just wondering if there is someway out there that the gif can work on all devices because it will be emailed out to a few people.
    I see there is a device central within the program, but not sure about that. There seems to be a lot of types there, but I don't see BlackBerry? I'll check again. In the meantime, I thought I'd write this up to see if there was an answer.
    Thank you.

    It will not on my iPod....
    Which one? Nano never has displayed GIFs, only JPEGs. Touch will display GIFs only in Safari and Mail and whtever custom apps you may have that use GIFs. That would be very much the same on iPad and iPhone, though those also can display PNGs outside of the browser. Similarly, Android devices can display JPEG, PNG and SVG natively, but GIFs are disabled/ forbidden on most of them and may only dispaly in the browser app. Dunno much about Symbian/ Meego/ Blackberry, but I would think that pretty much the same rules apply - said stuff being disabled to conserve battery power, for security reasons or not even dynamically loaded because of ad blocking...
