Animation Arrows preview on slide, not preview project or publish

I tried to summarize the question in the Subject line. I imported some 2d arrows intoslide 5. They behave perfectly when I preview the slide, indicating particular fields when they are discussed in the audio. If I preview the project, beginning at slide 1, they don't show up. Ditto when I try to publish to HTML. Any suggestions?
Looking through the forum, I have tried changing the publishing options from AS2 to AS3.
I am using the trial version of Captivate 4.

I see these are on a slide that is timed really super long. I'm guessing you are saying that when you have viewed the project and have watched the slide play for 135 seconds the arrow isn't showing? If you examine the properties for the arrows and look at the Options tab, is there a check mark in the Visible check box?

Turning off key tapping audio on just 1 slide- not entire project

One of my slides has a typing sequence. As the words are
typed each letter has a key stroke tapping noise which becomes very
annoying for the entire paragraph. I didn't turn it off before I
recorded it. There are many other slides in the project where the

If this is Captivate 3, you have the option of right-clicking
the typing layer in the Timeline and converting that to a Typing
Text animation. There are two. One is Typing Text and the other is
Typing Text with sound. Perhaps try the generic "Typing Text"?

Why does CC Text from various slides not show after HTML5 Publish?

I have CC Text throughout my course. When I publish from the Responsive Layout template, some CC Text does not show in various slides. Of course, when I republish, the CC Text that didn't show up reappears with other CC Text on different slides missing. Has anybody had this happen?

Thanks, Demo, I'll give that a shot. On the other hand, I really don't want to have some files in iBooks and other ones in Adobe Reader. If Adobe Reader will let me organize them in folders, it might be a great solution.
However, there's no ".pdf management" involved here. It's simply "Read the #%€\#^% .pdf file I gave you" and there is nothing to "manage". Whatever opinions Apple has about Adobe, .pdf is a fact of life and should not require any handstands and backsprings just to read a file. (Are you listening, Apple?) I refinanced my home with .pdf files; print it, sign it, scan it, e-mail it back. (OK, calm down, it'll be all right... Sigh...)
Whatever the result, I'll report back.

Text Caption appears in Edit Mode but not in Preview Project or Web Browser

I'm using Cp4 and have downloaded Adobe Flash 10 Active X, it's ver 10.1.82.76. I've added a simple text caption with these options:
Timing Display: Rest of slide
Appear after: 2.0 seconds
Transition effect: Fade in only
In: .5 seconds
And Visible is checked
I also have a simple line that I drew with the draw line tool and included an arrow on the end of it.
Everything on the screen works including the click box, the animated text and the failure caption. For some reason the text caption and the arrow are not appearing except in Edit Mode. In Preview Project, they disapper but the click box, failure caption and animated text work fine.
I've rebooted, copied this screen into a new instance of Cp4, re-created these objects on a freshly recorded screen, chosen Order: Bring to Front, created a brand new screen completely from scratch and downloaded the Flash 10 Active X version mentioned above.
They funny thing is, is that the text caption and arrow works fine on other screens in the project. I have 76 screens total.
I'm running Windows XP.
Any suggestions?

Can you post a screen capture of what your Timeline looks like?
Odds are your Click Box is pausing in a weird place.

Preview Project slides are very slow

I have a new problem, that just appeared in Captivate. If I record on a slide, doesn't matter which mode, Full Motion, Automatic Recording, etc, the slides play back in Preview Project extremely slowly.
I have the Slide Duration at 5 seconds under Preferences. I can change the slide duration in the timeline for each invididual slide, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. The slides in Preview Project take about 30 seconds or more to cycle. It works the same if I go in an Preview the Next 10 slides. I have changed the number of slides down to Preview Next 2 slides and it still runs very slow.
If anyone knows why this might be occuring, I would appreciate it.

If you're on Captivate 5, go into Preferences and try clearing out the Cache using the Clear Cache button provided there under Global > General Settings.
If that doesn't work, try deleting your entire Preferences folder:
- on Xp: C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Captivate 5
- on Vista/Win7:C:\Users\<USER NAME>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Captivate 5
- on MAC: /Users/<USER NAME>/Library/Preferences/
If things are still running slow, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Flash Player via Control Panel. Cp's preview functionality may depend on Flash player since it's previewing an SWF file.
Does that improve things?

Old animation from preview 7 not working well in Animate 1.0

I started doing this animation on preview 7 and finished it on animate 1.0 and it was working right before and looks right in browsers but not on iphone/ipad where I want it to work. You can check chrome first so you see how I want it to work on iphone/ipad.

The problem I have seen on iphone is that the girl jumps fast instead of normal walk a little bit when she comes in from left to right and also she appears on the end frame before the animation starts. You can ignore the boy as he is not animated.

By the way, I noticed something to let webutil to work I think I can't sign the frmwebutil.jar & Jacob.jar under Dos because of Jarsigner and I get this info: 'jarsigner' is not recognized as an internal or external command,operable program or batch file.
if you know or anybody knows why jarsigner is not recognized.

Preview project only displays 1 slide captivate 7

When I select either preview next 5 or preview project, only one slide at a time is displayed. When I publish, only one slide is published.

Quiz works fine when I preview the Project, but does not send email when published. Help??

Everyday it seems to be some new problem with this Program and I am getting very frustrated. I have created a quiz and set it up so that when you get the results you click on the "Send E-mail" button. In the preview project mode this opens an email with the results and all you have to do is send it. Perfect right? I have since published this, and now when you pass the quiz and click on "Send E-mail" all I see is a yellow triangle with "Error on Page" in the lower left of my screen. Can you help me figure this out and give me some suggestions on how to fix this? I really need some way to be notified when the person has successfully completed the quiz. Thanks!

Opening Captivate 4 project in 5 adds to slide notes, read by TTS

I have a project that was started in Captivate 4, and when I open it in Captivate 5, it does the conversion and introduces 
 in the slide notes which the TTS speech egnine reads.
First, any ideas on why this would be happening, how to prevent it?
Second, is there a way to do a seach and replace within the slide notes? The regular Find and Replace dialog doesn't show a Search In option for notes.

I actually found the answer to my own question, in a way.
One of my projects apparently was corrupt an it was causing the issue with the disappearing notes. However, after rebooting my computer, clearing the Adobe Captivate Cached Projects, I opened a different project in Adobe Captivate 5, and all the notes were in place. After a while, I figured that as long as I don't open the corrupt file, my notes remain in place. I had to recreate the corrupt file though and save it with a different name.
I also noticed that the files are more likely to get corrupted if they are long (over 70-80 slides long) or if they have a lot of animations (really a lot).
As for the people using Captivate 3.... You may be used to Captivate 3 and it may be hard to switch software, but Captivate 5 is a lot more powerful and has a lot less issues than Captivate 3 ever did. I would reconsider, if I were you...
Sometimes, simply republishing a project helps...
If the "stop" button is a problem, I'd copy all the slides (in the source file) to a fresh new project, except for the one with the stop button; and then I would try to recreate the button that causes the issue, save and republish the new project.

Unable to view captivate 8 preview project in internet explorer

unable to view captivate 8 preview>project in internet explorer. I get 404 web page can't be found. I haven't built an extensive layout. I just changed the title text and subtitle text to preview in a browser. It doesn't want to show any result. I notice the web address is http://localhost:4932/HTML5Temp5276756792Pre/rindex.html, how do I ensure I'm pulling information from the correct location? How do I set the parameters to get the file from the proper folder? I have changed the cache folder location to an external hard drive and I need to know how to let internet explorer recognize where to search for the preview of a project.

Nothing wrong with the web address. But this is a temporary address which gets generated while previewing.
After making the changes, did you just hit a Refresh in the browser to preview the updated version? If yes, this won't work as the web address would be different for every preview. Every time you need to preview, you have to initiate it from within Captivate (shortcut for HTML5 preview is F11).

Animations after the first slide are not working in Presenter 8

I've created a powerpoint with lots of step by step equations synced to audio. Presenter is handling the first animation on the first slide ok, but it is not animating the rest of the content on the rest of the slides. The content is just showing up all at once. When I attempt to sync the audio with the animations, the editing command makes it appear like everything will work fine, but when I publish the document to pdf or to flash, the animations are failing to animate.

Embedded animation always stops at slide 18 of 24 (but there are 38 slides!!)

I am trying to embed a software demonstration (walk-through) animation, created with Captivate. It has a total of 38 slides, and works perfectly on its own.
However, when I publish, and insert the resulting swf into my main Captivate lesson, it always stops at slide 18 (displays 18 of 24)... clicking the forward button shows blank screens after 18 and all the way to slide 38 (it displays slide 38 of 24 in the preview window)!!
Again, this animation works perfectly (either in preview or published) on its own.
I hate to keep asking so many questions lately. I do search the forum before I ask but nothing ever seems completely applicable!

Unfortunately it's a technical limitation that makes it impossible to view the animation in preview mode. This is because when you preview from Captivate it actually creates the Captivate SWF and stores that in a temporary address on your PC. Since that temporary address changes for every project it's not possible to take this into account in the widget.
I have one workaround though. If you create a slide in your project at the very end and import all your animations to that (the regular way from Captivate) then it will also publish those animations to the temp dir and the Loader Widget would be able to pick them up. You would need to preview with F4 the first time to "publish" the entire SWF and assets to the temp dir. When you are done working on your project you can just delete that last slide and publish regularly and copy the animation SWFs to the published directory.
As for developing widgets there really isn't that many resources available that I know of. The way forward is to look at the stock widgets supplied by Adobe and then try and see how they work. Once you understand these you can begin creating your own.
Rod and Tristan Ward from Infosemantics also created something called Widget Factory. This is a new approach to AS3 widgets so that might be worth checking out for you as well. Here is the link: http://www.infosemantics.com.au/?q=node/26
This is how I got started but I must admit that for 80% of my needs I just create the functionality in Flash and totally skip the Widget API. It's just much quicker and much more stable. For some reason things tend to go a little bit crazy when you are developing stuff within the Widget API restrictions and it's extremely difficult to debug since the Widget wont work at all if it isn't played from within a Captivate movie. Most of the functionality that you can have in Widgets can be done directly in Flash as well and then you just import it as an animation. The advantage of Widgets is that a developer who can't use Flash can modify the behaviour directly in Captivate but if you have and know Flash then it's easier to change that in Flash directly.
