Animation Help

Hiya, any of you guys wanting to offer your amazing skills please?
So I wanted to make an animation whereby I have an abstract bird fly from off screen (right side top) to the centre of the page, then turn left slightly to tip a bucket of paint over, as such - once this is performed have the bird move back towards the right of the page hovering of the letters of my business name - in turn making each letter of my name change colour one by one. I have two words to my business name and only want the one half to be coloured so the bird then stops at the end of that word coloured leaving the remaining name untouched... make sense??  Just want to know if this is possible and how you suggest going about animating this?? I have no clue with Edge but know what I want - just hoping someone can help with this thanks.
have a look here at my site which is on business catalyst  http://mockingbird-designs.businesscatalyst.com

Possible. You need to create a  symbol for the bird with its wing animation. Then another symbol where it moves to the center of the stage. Then you need to create your word symbols and letter symbols and everything can be animated on the stage.

  • DVD from Animations - Help please if you can

We have an 3min animation sequence that needs to be put to DVD.
Animation was created in Maya, it's a 3D building walkthrough, constant movement.
It is supplied as AVI (video track is WRAW) 720x576 (for PAL)
We have placed it on FCP sequence set to Animation, best, millions colours, keyframe every frame.
Sent to compressor - 8Mbps CBR, best motion, GOP size =7 / Structure =IBP, closed.
The resulting M2V looks fine in QT
It also looks fine in DVDSP Simulator
However the DVD created (from an image) both in Apple's DVD player and on set top players looks badly pixelated, grainy and flickery.
Is there something in the make up of the animation that doesn't suit DVD playback? Why wouldn't we see it in the Simulator?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Colin,
I have exported the supplied file as QT movies using different QT Codecs, DV PAL, Animation, Motion JPEG, also DV stream. If the option is there I have set the field order to Lower first. I have also imported the supplied AVI to FCP onto sequences with differing compression settings as above. All produce the same effect.
I have exported the AVI from QT as an image sequence, once as is and once with the deinterlace ticked in movie properties and imported each image as a frame to FCP onto a DV PAL timeline, this you would think would work around any issue of field order and behave as the sequence settings dictate? I get the same result, the final DVD image looks fine in DVD Player, unless you UNTICK "deinterlace" (which is wierd in itself), then it flickers badly, as does a DVD written from the image.
The best result I have had so far is following your instructions (thanks) in another post for 24fps NTSC, the final DVD was not flickering anywhere as badly but motion overall was a bit jittery. Is there a work around for animation like this with PAL do you know?
Also - maybe this might be a clue?
When I have the clip looking fine in FCP as a DV clip or image sequence on a DV timeline, with the play line stopped or running, the Canvas ONLY looks good at 100%, anything smaller or larger creates this striping moire effect on the image, visible even with the play line in stop.

  • Importing GIF Animations - Help!

Am I doing something wrong? I created some animations in
Photoshop and saved them as GIF files. They view great in HTML, but
when I import the images into Captivate, the timing on some of the
animations are messed up. I played around with the timing in
Captivate, but it made no difference. I also made the animations
play longer in Photoshop and then imported them again, but again,
it made no difference. Also, I want the background of the
animations to be transparant, and when I import the images, the
    background changes black?
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thankyou.

HI yankeebrit and welcome to our community
As for the timing, I'm guessing you have an option in
Photoshop to determine or configure the speed? I have played with
an older application called Microsoft GIF Animator and you are able
to configure the duration of each animation frame there. Often, a
GIF animation is somewhere around 10 frames per second.
As for the background color, I'm guessing that black (or near
black) is set as the transparent color in Photoshop? I don't
believe the transparency will come through. So probably the best
you can do is to set the background color to match whatever you are
    placing the image against.
Hopefully something here was helpful... Rick

  • Using AfterEffects v7 Pro - GoofyColors When Trying Animation - Help?

I'm working on this Space Bookmobile Motion Scene (new project) and have already imported a "only for practice" person (consisting only of torso, hips, thighs, shins, and feet segments which I cut out in Phohoshop) and have already parented these body segments.
This time I'm following Lesson 4 - Animating a Scene from my copy of the Official Adobe After Effects v7 Classroom in a Book, in which case I'm using my own files instead of the files from the book's CD (using my own files helps me learn this stuff better).
    Ok, this practice person is in the desired starting position in this outer space bookmobile, and he has to walk using legs from the starting position towards the camera (see Original photo);
This person is wearing blue jeans, has white "shirt tails" hanging from underneath the yellowish/orangish plaid shirt over his hips. The CTI (current time indicator) is at the start position in the timeline.
    As I try moving the CTI to the right in order to begin following the lesson from the book to the right at 15 seconds/frames (or whatever - please bear with me, I'm a first timer in Adobe After Effects) the whole background scene suddenly changes to these goofy colors (actually, this happens when I move the CTI to the 01 second/frame mark), but the practice person stays the way it is in the original scene (see photo);
    Then, when I try moving the CTI all the way to the right (the end of the time line), this goofy color change remains but just as in the above scene, the person stays the same way it was in the original scene (with the CTI at 0 seconds/frames) (see photo);
Why is this happening and how do I fix it?  My computer specs are Core 2 Duo @ 2 GHz,
lots of HDD space (~over 50 % if I'm not mistaken),     256 MB Nvidia GeForce GT 8600M video card, MS Windows XP Home_sp3, I have not messed with any of the default settings on this computer, but left them alone, this computer is a Dell XPS M1530 laptop, and I believe it's specs are more than adequate for running AAF v7 with with ease.
    Thanks in advance.

Do you mean, one image = one frame (I was working on just this one single frame), and this single frame is what's causing these color bars since there's no other frames following it?
Oh, (since this is my first time with creating motion pictures from a series of single frames/images) does this mean I'll have to 1) delete this "practice person", 2) make copies of this single image, and 3) somehow re-create the missing footage/frames from that single image or what?
I know how to make copies of the same image, but how exactly to I transpose these images into motion footage?

  • Simple animation help

Hi all wonder if someone can help. I'm creating a simple board game and i want to slide a character (a image) from one position to another position. So for example if i had a 10x10 grid, i may want to slide from square 2 to square 4 or slide diagonally say from square 8 to square 26. What would be the best way to do this? I've been able to move the character once it reaches a certain square by setting the co-ordinates of the new square to move to, but this instantaneously moves from the square reached to the target square, what i want is a sliding effect, so you visually see the character sliding. Any ideas? Any source would be helpful as well, as there doesn't seem to be much about on this topic on the web!

Search the forum. "Animation" would be a good keyword to use. The suggestions will involve using a Swing Timer so you just calculate each interval location from A to B to set the position of the object as it moves.

  • Fireworks 8 button/animation help

I have several layers and 1 small animation. Everything works
fine until I stick a button in and it will only work for 3 frames

Just make sure they are in separate slices. You cannot add
    multiple
state buttons to an animation in Fireworks. You can add
    animations to
    rollover buttons, however. Here's how:
Create the animations first, and export them.
Instead of using library buttons, or the Button wizard, draw
    your
buttons from scratch and add slices to each. Make sure the
    buttons have
exactly the same dimensions as the animations.
You'll use the Swap image behavior to create the rollovers.
    For each button:
Right click on the slice over the button and choose ADD SWAP
    IMAGE BEHAVIOR.
In the Swap image editor, for SHOW THE SWAPPED IMAGE FROM:
    click the
IMAGE FILE radio button and browse to the folder you exported
    your
animation to. Select the animation you want to use for that
    button, and
then uncheck PRELOAD IMAGES. The latter is to ensure that
    the
animation starts on the first frame when you mouse over the
    button.
Accept the changes and close the Swap image editor.
Note that you will not be able to preview the image swap in
    the
Fireworks workspace. You will be able to test it in browser
    preview,
    however [f12].

  • CS5 Animation HELP!!

Im using Photoshop CS5 and im trying to create a animation where a bar goes through the inside of the text, but when i move the object in the second frame, the first frame does the same! Can anyone help me? This problem is getting really annoying!

You might try something like the following:
Click on the screenshots for larger views.
    1. Select the rectangle tool and make shape layer
    2. Clip the shape layer to the previous layer (Layer>Create Clipping Mask) and
move the shape using the move tool to about the left edge of the white line.
    3. In the animation panel press the Duplicate Selected Frames button and then
move the shape using the move tool to about the right edge of the white line.
    4. Press the Tweens animation frames button in the animation panel and set as below.
    5. Press play and see how it looks. (click the gif below to play)
None of these settings are set in stone and of my animation has a lot of room for improvement
so feel free to experiment with different settings, but this should give you the basics.

  • Flash character animation help

    Greetings,
I have a character animation that involves a lot of walking, I currently have the feet and upper body fully animated, I was wondering if there was a simple way to get the upper and lower legs to track the feet and hips.
I animated the feet and upper body by creating keyframes and manually positioning each symbol at every keyframe, I was just hoping there was a simple solution for the legs rather then having to manually position each one at each keyframe.

    Hi,
If you want to get started with the flash animation make sure to start learning how to use all the image editing tools that may come handy with your animation. You animation doesn't seem that complicated but it will take quite some time to gather all the symbols and images(cartoons).
Here is a website that offers some tips regarding basic flash animations:

  • Flash Driving Animation Help

    Hey everyone,
I just registered here and I'm looking for some specific help. I am looking to make a short, 30 seconds to 1 minute animation.
What I want is an animation of a side view of a vehicle driving, with a scrolling/repeating background. (The van will be passing by houses and buildings in the neighboorhood) The vehicle will be driving around for about 30 seconds and encountering different obstacles every few seconds. (mailboxes, cats, etc.) After this it will cut to a flashy outro which I can handle in After FX. However, I am just beginning with flash and I really have no idea where to start on this project. If someone could make a short tutorial or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance,

  • 3D animation help using Adobe 3D Reviewer

I have a cad model with many components, each on their own level/layer. I want to create a simple animation to show the sequencing of the construction of my model. I set it up with the layers so that all I need is to turn on each layer in sequence to produce my desired animation.
I have been using the create / play animation tool in 3D Reviewer, but it seems to have limited functionality. I want each step to be slower than what appears to be the slowest setting for this tool. I also can't figure out the camera tools - it would be nice to zoom in at various points during the sequence, etc.
    The bottom line is this:
Am I using the wrong tool to try and create this type of animation? If so, what should I be using? (Bear in mind I am a draftsman, not a programmer, so any scripts, etc, need to be VERY simple).
If the route I am current trying to take is worthwhile to achieve my final goal, can anyone point me to a useful guide for using this tool? The help section of 3D Reviewer is very simplistic - but maybe that is because the tool really doesn't have much functionality?
    Thanks

3D Reviewer has very basic functionality.
I suggest getting your hands dirty with programing.  I think it may be the only option for sophisticated outputs.
Download the latest Acrobat Javascript SDK.   Make a document level JavaScript and use a timer and an iterative loop to cycle through all the parts  you want to show/hide.

  • Blinking animation help?

So I would consider myself a biginer in After Effects. I wanted to get blinking animation like 45 sec into this video, as example; http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=fysNTElCYUU
To give an impression of my skill level this is what I tried but didn't work out. I thought of just making different layers for the eyelids; open, mid, closed; and giving them their respective key frames would work but it didn't. Came out with noticeable pauses now matter what I did. So unlike the smooth motion of that video.
    Help? Advice?

So I would consider myself a biginer in After Effects.
The reason yours looks so bad is that this person is using expressions driven by sliders for various properties.  This is sophisticated AE animation, and well beyond a beginner's capabilities.  Even if someone were to give you detailed, step-by-step instructions to recreate it, you wouldn't understand them.
You really need to start learning AE here.  Seriously.  There are no shortcuts.  No matter how much you want to run, you can't do it before you learn how to walk.

  • Animation Help Needed

I wasn't sure where to ask this question, so my apologies if this is in the wrong section:
I'm working on a movie project, and I'm unsure how and with what software to accomplish my goal. Basically what I'm trying to do is add a drawn layer of animation over a recorded video project, as easily as possible without losing quality.
Since that description isn't too great, here's a single frame image to give you an idea of what I mean. It's not color corrected and my Wacom tablet is acting screwy so I had to do it with a mouse and it looks really terrible, but it's just for reference so you have a vague idea of what I mean:
Short of just doing thousands of nearly identical drawings in photoshop and inserting them frame-by-frame, though, I don't know how I would accomplish this. Any tips or advice to point me in the right direction?

  • Flash animation help for newcomer

    Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and I must admit incredibly new to the world of Flash. I have CS5 professional and am looking for a little help if I may with something I am trying to produce. I am looking to produce a 360° clip of a photographed object. I have had some help off someone in producing the first one of these, but basically all I did was provide them with the shots, and they put it together for me. It is a 360° flash clip that is controlled by horizontal mouse movement to spin the object around.
My issue is that, I have the .fla file which can be opened in flash to view the project, but if I want to use this as a “template” in order to produce other clips with different photos, how do I go about this? Is there a way to import another set of photos into this project (possibly of a different number) to then come out with the same end result?
Any help could get on this subject would be greatly appreciated. I am not doing this for commercial gain, I am using the software for producing 360° clips of bonsai trees I grow believe it or not lol to display them to others across the internet.
This is the one that has been kindly produced for me so far - https://9029455640877499786-a-1802744773732722657-s-sites.googlegroups.com/site/lewiswebsp ace/turntable.swf?attachauth=ANoY7cpyYEz9LQWODR941CeV9hqyZHeuSAONtvTBq-CLFtqqgaEYM1uuYqWfH Pb0ACB9MNuaucusMwotTlq4Hxic5Ol6Z3XF78wE5RYi3qAili1tGZNPSINB-jjhvkRGc6G0HUw30cGrzU7PUX0qXhP QNrFu4ooYJCblXH4ZxgvwRCoELTSPcC9wdRySuqCAl5c9ks2AnssV&attredirects=0

  • Stop motion animation help using images from a digital camera...how tricky is this?

I'm teaching a media arts course for the first time, and I'm trying to figure out how to use images taken with a digital camera, import them to Premiere Elements 7, and put them in the timeline without having to shorten the length of them.  As soon as I drag an image from the project bin onto the timeline, it automatically plays for 5 seconds, and I have to try to shorten it to one frame length.  If that's what it takes, this process is going to take a lot of time, because the students are going to be taking several hundred photos.  If I edit them in the preview, it's still just as difficult.  Is there any way to change the settings before I import the images so that they automatically are one or two frames in length on my timeline?  Your help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.
As Steve points out, setting the Edit>Preferences>Still Duration BEFORE Importing, will get what you want.
When doing Stop-Motion, I find that a Duration = 3 to 5 Frames, works best, but that will depend on the images, how far apart, they were shot, and the exact effect that I want. It might take a little experimenting, to get things correct to both your eye, and to the images from the camera.
Also, Scaling the Still Images, prior to Import is a very, very good idea, and especially so, with Stop-Motion, as you will have lots of them.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - if you are using Transitions, between the Still Images, you will want to alter the Duration of those too, prior to applying them.
